— COMMENT: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party platform has always been conservative. But anti-conservatives and conservative-haters have dominated the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) since at least Big Jim Thompson. Of course, they blame the conservative IRP platform for the November 8, 2022 losses that Republican candidates suffered in Illinois. While they say that the IRP has “no platform,” they want young anti-conservatives and conservative-haters to craft a new IRP platform that will water down, if not strike, the conservative planks in the platform. I served on the 2008 IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee. The IRP platform has changed little since then. Of course, I want to serve on any committee that crafts a new platform. Because Ron Smith appointed me to the 2008 IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee, because I promoted conservative planks, and because I promoted direct election of IRP State Central Committee (SCC) members at that convention, anti-conservatives and conservative-haters threw him off the IRP SCC. Of course, my requests to be appointed to the 2012, 2016, and 2020 IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committees were denied.)

We appreciate his service to the country,” Tracy said. “The field will undoubtedly evolve over the coming months and we look forward to an open, engaging, and respectful competition.” But the most interesting comment may have come from outgoing DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, the former head of the county’s Republican organization. What might be best for the party is for Trump to run—and lose to another Republican, Cronin said. “That may be exactly what the doctor ordered.
