(FROM THE ARTICLE: Just days into her new job as a state representative, Anne Stava-Murray (D-Naperville) has managed to cause a stir among her constituents by characterizing her hometown of Naperville as having “white supremacist policies.” Her remarks about Naperville came in a Facebook response to a post by Felicia Palumbo, who in early January wrote that “Naperville is the biggest bullies … horrible.” “I know and I am so sorry,” Stava-Murray replied on her “Anne Stava-Murray for U.S. Senate” Facebook page. “I actually wanted to move to Oak Park but stayed to work on my community. Our history of white supremacist policies is ongoing.” Stava-Murray did not respond to multiple requests from the DuPage Policy Journal seeking substantiation for her comments—any evidence that Naperville ever, or currently has, white supremacist policies. A white supremacist Naperville was news to Mayor Steve Chirico. “I would never characterize Naperville in this way,” Chirico told the Policy Journal, “but I realize that people have many different perceptions and views.” Twenty-three-year Naperville resident Richard Strawbridge said he couldn’t imagine where Stava-Murray’s comments were coming from. “I’m unaware of any so-called white supremacist policies,” Strawbridge, an attorney, said, “and I’m very active in the local community. “In fact,” he continued, “my impression is that the Naperville community as a whole tries to be very fair and inclusive. Are there individual idiots out there who buck this trend? I’m guessing there are. But to paint the entire community with this broad and defamatory characterization is unworthy of a public official in the absence of some actual evidence. These kinds of comments from any part of the political spectrum only serve to divide people and to impeded constructive dialogue.” Stava-Murray is expected to appear, with other members of the General Assembly, at a legislative forum hosted by the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation on Saturday at the Naperville Municipal Center. “Every January, we invite our local state senators and representatives to share their views on what we can expect from Springfield in the upcoming year,” an announcement of the event on the Homeowners website said. “With representatives from both sides of the political aisle, and several new faces, this should be a great opportunity to get to better know those who hold our statewide future in their hands.” The 32-year-old freshman lawmaker also announced before even being sworn in as a House member representing the 81st District that she would challenge U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin for his seat in 2020. She supports the full range of progressive causes, according to her Senate campaign website. That includes Medicare-For-All, “actually affordable healthcare reform that doesn’t give away money to for-profit millionaires” and Wear Red for Ed, Families, “proper education funding that doesn’t result in mass striking for teachers to receive basic resources.” She also endorses “providing support for the LGBTQIA community as they have among the highest rates of being murdered by a member of the public.” In November, Stava-Murray defeated incumbent David Olsen (R-Downers Grove) in a close race. The Unfortunate Truth of College Graduates


(FROM THE ARTICLE: Many college attendees struggle to find jobs which are both fitting for their careers and also have a respective income. Money magazine took the findings of labor economist Stephen Rose, who uncovered discoveries in his new analysis regarding the overqualification that has burdened college graduates entering the workforce. Money writer Kaitlin Mulhere deduced from Rose’s findings that “…no matter how the economy is faring, the overqualification rate is disproportionately high for workers who are just out of college and in their early 20s”. This means that many employers have handed down less-than-exemplary jobs, making it so that college graduates must crawl their way to the top regardless of their degree. Is this the kind of treatment that is deserved by hardworking students, spending countless hours educating themselves through the means of their own will? It should also be noted that the percentage of overqualification rates for Hispanics and African Americans increased by “…7 and 10 percentage points, respectively, than the rate for white college-educated workers”. This not only highlights the inconsideration of the educated workforce but also reveals the effects of racism that still segregate several demographics from gaining equal pay. Not only are college graduates being short-cut of their pay, but if you are part of a non-white racial group, then the likelihood that your efforts will be overlooked increase.)

The “Sanctuary City Supportive Resources” website offers advice on how to access city resources and lists a number of participating advocacy groups for immigrants. Additionally, the city created the Chicago KeyCity program to help illegal immigrants assimilate into city life. KeyCity acts as a Chicago-specific identification card. According to the sanctuary city supportive resources website: “KeyCity is an optional, valid, government-issued ID card offered to all Chicago residents that will unlock many of the great things our City has to offer. The CityKey card is a photo identification card available to all Chicago residents which will not convey information about national origin or legal status. For many residents who do not have an identification card, CityKey can serve as an official government issued identification and can be used to access city services. Additionally, your CityKey can be used as a library card for Chicago Public Libraries, as well as a Ventra card. Presenting your CityKey at particular cultural institutions and local businesses can also give you a discount. CityKey is now available for free to all Chicago residents.” Chicago unveiled a program in 2014 that awarded city high school students with scholarships to attend community college for free. Those scholarships extend to illegal-alien students, as well, allowing them the opportunity to study at two-year colleges for free. A USA Today article noted that while illegal-alien students were eligible for the scholarships, other city students, such as those attending charter and parochial schools, were not. Chicago allows non-citizens to vote in school board elections. Chicago aggressively defends its sanctuary laws protecting criminal aliens. Emmanuel has continued to fight the Justice Department over federal funds withheld from Chicago because of their policies. In addition to those policies, Chicago has a number of added benefits in place to help integrate illegal aliens, making it a super-sanctuary.)

Stop paying. Facing astronomical bills on real estate that’s now worthless at best, Ford Heights home and business owners have literally nothing to lose by ignoring them. Nearly 1,000 Ford Heights property tax bills totaling $2.3 million weren’t paid last year, according to an analysis of Cook County Treasurer records by South Cook News. That’s in a village of just 2,763 people, 987 households and 729 residential properties. More perspective: the village’s total 2017 budget was $1.8 million. The 996 Ford Heights properties with delinquent taxes will be up for public auction in May; willing buyers can take them off the owners’ hands by making good with Cook County on what’s in arrears. That none will both explains the strategy’s genius, and the tragedy it reveals. In Ford Heights, real estate equity has ceased to exist. The concept of “homeownership” has been explicitly, violently eviscerated in this community. And it’s hardly the only one. Effective Tax Rate: 48% The 20 most expensive properties in Ford Heights in 2017 amounted to $6.6 million in alleged, collective property value and $1.07 million in property taxes due, according to Cook County. An analysis by South Cook News found that 13 of those 20 bills have not been paid, totaling $737,630 of the $1.07 million. The non-payers have their reasons.)

State Sen. Jim Oberweis, a Sugar Grove Republican who has run for Congress, Senate and governor before, also is considering a bid. He said, “We’re giving it serious thought, yes.” “I don’t believe that Underwood represents the views of the majority of the people in the 14th Congressional District,” said the dairy magnate, who said he would make a decision in 30 to 60 days. “I believe I would be much closer to those views.” Underwood beat a sitting Republican congressman by 5 points last November.
