With the money that I earned, I bought a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air in 1964. I bought a new 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint in 1966. I paid for my UIC expenses 1966-1968. I bought a new 1968 Oldsmobile 442 in 1967. I bought a new 1969 Dodge Charger in 1968. I paid for my NIU expenses 1969-1970. The aforesaid enabled me to graduate debt-free from NIU in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in management and owning that Charger.

My ancestors on my father’s side homesteaded a farm in Crete Township in 1854. They sold that farm in 1864 and bought 10 acres just northeast of downtown Crete. They had a large brick home built on the west side of that 10 acres in 1897 and sold that home in the 1940s. In 1926, they sold all but a quarter acer of the rest of that 10 acres and had a brick home (1286 Wood Street) built on quarter acre. I lived in that home 1954-1972. My brother and I inherited that home when our mother died in 2016. I inherited that home last year when my brother died and I sold it for $99,900 last year. The home’s value declined in relative terms after my father died suddenly in 1969 and as Democrats moved into Crete. My mother inherited $4,000 when her parents died during the 1970s. My critics/opponents have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that my parents and all of my ancestors were filthy rich and that explains all of the successes that I have had in life. I should write a book about my critics/opponents. I would focus on their parents’ wealth.)
