It’s at www.gopillinois.com , and, as you can tell by its address, it has a Republican flavor. That is an understatement reinforced with the comments added by the compiler himself — DAVID DIERSEN of Wheaton. He introduced a recent UPI story about Republicans’ views on the drought and wildfires by saying: “Democrats blame everything bad, including bad weather, on Republicans, especially on Republicans who are conservative, White, male, older, non-poor and non-veteran.” And talking of a New York Times article about a photographer arrested while on assignment in the Bronx, Diersen wrote that since 2000, he has been thrown out of, barred from, or not advised of news conferences “by Democrats, Democrat plants, RINOs (Republicans in name only), their operatives, and their dupes.” Thus, if you don’t want to read some very pointed comments, you may not want to go to gopillinois.com. But you would be missing a treasure of links to the day’s news and opinion. Diersen, 63, is a retired federal employee who became the Illinois editor of a national GOP website in 2000, and since 2004 has put out his own Illinois compilation every day. There’s usually about 50 articles daily, he says. He’s generally up by 3 a.m. He says he spends at least 10 hours a day on this passion of his, with no pay, and has put out links to more than 117,000 articles. As his comments above hinted, party regulars don’t always greet his work with relish. He includes dissident voices within the GOP tent, and some whose credibility is questionable. But he puts it all out there. He’s a GOP precinct committeeman, and he believes in people having information. He also wants to help elect Republican candidates who “will defend and advance the party’s platform.” The site makes available plenty of Diersen history, too, including how his “liberal Democrat superiors,” in his view, forced him to take early retirement at 49 from the U.S. General Accounting Office, “because of his opposition to race and gender based preference and his participation in a class action lawsuit” on that subject. He wouldn’t mind my telling you that he also passed his CPA and Certified Internal Auditor exams on first attempts more than three decades ago. Agree or disagree with him, but Diersen provides a bunch of interesting information — every day.)

To this day, those RINOs crow about the success of their negative campaign to defeat me when I ran for the open MTRO Treasurer position in 2004.)

Hoefert cited the accounting credentials and educational background of Grossi, a former village trustee who ran against Hoefert for mayor in the spring, for his appointment. But Trustees Peggy Pissarreck and Terri Gens voted against it, saying Hoefert missed an opportunity to appoint a qualified woman or a person of color instead. “I am troubled that you have passed over the opportunity to appoint a female person of color with a law degree and a regulatory background who expressed interest months ago,” Pissarreck said. Finance commission member Yulia Bjekic also was critical of the appointment. “I feel we are past the point of walking the talk on diversity, equity and inclusion. We talk about it, and you continue to appoint and reappoint Caucasian males to commissions, and that is unfortunate,” she said. However, Hoefert said the candidate mentioned by Pissarreck expressed interest in the finance commission specifically only two weeks ago, while Grossi applied in May. Some wards are still counting, but Norwood Park and 38th Ward Democrats announced at about 10:30 p.m. that they’re endorsing Alexi Giannoulias for Illinois secretary of state, Tom Dart for another term as Cook County sheriff and Kari Steele for Cook County assessor — a surprise given she’s a South Sider competing against incumbent Fritz Kaegi. Official slating is Dec. 13 and 14. Talk about democracy at work. Last night’s pre-slating process was a far cry from the old days of backroom decision-making about who would appear on campaign literature and mailings. “Now we make decisions collectively and openly and everyone who’s involved in electing Democrats gets a say in the process,” Paul Rosenfeld, the 47th Ward Committeeman, told Playbook after leaving DePaul College Prep, where candidates spoke for up to five minutes and took questions from Democrats in the ward. Democrats from the 40th Ward were also in that slating. In all of the locations on the North Side, party members took a ballot before taking their seats and listening to the candidates. Wokeness operates as if there had been no civil rights movement, and that white Americans hadn’t been an integral part of it. It operates as if white supremacy is still being systemically enforced, while ignoring the fact that a previously marginalized ethnic minority, namely Asian Americans, enjoys higher income levels than white Americans. Above all, Wokeness pretends that incidents such as George Floyd’s murder, which are national scandals, are actually national norms. They aren’t, despite current injustices. Most Americans, I suspect, not only sense the falseness of the allegation. They are, increasingly, insulted by it. The insult turns to injury when it comes to the solutions Wokeness prescribes, and in the way that it prescribes them. (FROM THE ARTICLE: One of the Democratic Party’s core problems is that it still regards itself mainly as the party of the underdog. But as the information-age economy has matured, the Democratic Party has also become the party of the elite, especially on the cultural front. Democrats dominate society’s culture generators: the elite universities, the elite media, the entertainment industry, the big tech companies, the thriving elite places like Manhattan, San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 2020, Joe Biden won roughly one-sixth of the nation’s counties, but together those counties generate roughly 71% of the nation’s GDP. As the Democrats have become more culturally and economically dominant, many people at tippy-top private schools and super-expensive colleges have flamboyantly associated themselves with the oppressed. Thankfully, that has moved society to more aggressively pursue social and racial justice. Unfortunately, a tacit ideology — sometimes called wokeness — has been grafted on to this pursuit. It includes the notions that society is essentially a zone of conflict between oppressor and oppressed groups, that a person’s identity is predominantly about group identity and that slavery is the defining fact of American history. Because they dominate the cultural commanding heights, including some departments of education and the largest teachers unions, progressive views permeate schools, museums, movies and increasingly the public stances of large corporations. The Republican Party, like many right-populist parties across the Western world, has become a giant vessel of resistance against cultural, urban and information-age elites. Glenn Youngkin, the Republican who was just elected governor of Virginia, expressed that resistance when he said, “I believe parents should be in charge of their kids’ education.” When Democrats seem to be magnifying the education establishment’s control of the classroom and minimizing the role of parents, there’s going to be a reaction. Some of the reaction is pure racism, but a lot of it is pushback against elite domination and the tacit ideology. The results of last Tuesday’s elections show again that resistance against the elites can be a powerful force propelling Republicans to victory. In the final weeks leading up to Youngkin’s victory, education became one of the top issues for Virginia voters. The results also put the Donald Trump phenomenon in a new perspective. Trump was necessary to smash the old GOP and to turn the party into a vanguard of anti-elite resistance. But by 2020, with his moral degradation and all the rest, he was also holding back Republicans. If Republicans can find candidates who oppose the blue oligarchy but without too much Trumpian baggage, they can win over some former Biden voters in places like Virginia and New Jersey. Democrats would be wise to accept the fact that they have immense social and cultural power, and accept the responsibilities that entails by adopting what I’d call a Whole Nation Progressivism. America is ferociously divided on economic, regional, racial and creedal lines. The job of leaders is to stand above these divides and seek to heal them. The job of leaders is not to impose their values on everyone else; it is to defend a pluralistic order in which different communities can work out their own values.)

Of course, my critics/opponents will hint/imply/argue/shout at my potential opponents that me and my GOPUSA ILLINOIS newsletters have caused all the losses that Republican candidates on ballots in my precinct have suffered since 2000.)
