NEW YORK TIMES
— ‘Incomprehensible’ Numbers: How Republicans Are Losing New York Suburbs In one county, Democrats grew by more than 150,000, while the number of Republicans dropped by more than 30,000. – Vivian Wang (DIERSEN: If current trends hold, the many Democrat plant, Libertarian plant, Green plant, and RINO leaders of the Republican Party will officially banish individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, non-poor, gun owners, German American, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/13/nyregion/peter-king-long-island-republicans.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Democrats now outnumber Republicans on Long Island, a once unthinkable development in a traditional conservative stronghold where voters backed every Republican presidential candidate, bar two, from 1900 to 1988. . .The shift mirrors a nationwide trend of historically moderate or conservative suburban voters now slowly tipping left. Just last week, those voters helped flip the Virginia statehouse, ousted the last Republicans in a Philadelphia-area County Council and appear to have unseated the Republican governor of Kentucky. The pattern, if it holds, could prove decisive not only for the 2020 presidential election, but also for the makeup of each party’s base for decades.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: He made his way to Brooklyn, still carrying the stigma of his discharge. He said he had tried to commit suicide three times. “I struggled with depression, alcohol abuse and the shame of my dishonorable discharge,” he wrote. He eventually pulled himself up and started over, graduating from Adelphi University and going on to earn a master’s degree. “I found stability,” he wrote, “and dedicated my life to helping others.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Since his exit from politics, the GOP has had to change direction. The party hopes its grassroots fundraising campaign, called Lincoln Legion, will raise funds the old-fashioned way. Hackler says 92 percent of all donations in 2019 have been of $100 or less. How it’s playing out: The party raised $36,405 during the most recent reporting period that ended Sept. 30, according to the State Board of Elections. That’s up from $19,000 in donations the previous three months. Republicans have $106,369 cash on hand — up from $88,412 at the end of June. The House Republican Organization has $417,006 cash on hand; the Republican State Senate Campaign Committee has $214,986 cash on hand; and House Minority Leader Jim Durkin has $1.1 million on hand. Those are small-fry numbers compared to the Democratic Party of Illinois, which has $819,289 cash on hand. Sure, there are more Dems in Illinois, but the differences are stark. Friends of Michael Madigan has $7.1 million, the Democratic Majority has $4 million, and the 13th Ward Organization, where Madigan holds sway, has $1.8 million. Pritzker isn’t the only reason Dem fundraising outpaces the GOP. There’s been an eroding of Republican support in the affluent suburbs. Call it the Trump effect, says Democratic political consultant Scott Kennedy. “The 2018 Democratic fundraising success has largely been attributed to a higher level of enthusiasm among Democratic voters but the number of check-writing affluent suburbanites who switched from Republican to Democrat in the Trump era likely also played a role,” he told Playbook. “If Illinois Republicans are going to rebound, they’ll need to reverse that trend.”)

http://www.gopusa.com/?p=79126
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Tucker Carlson rejected concerns about the wellbeing of the intelligence community whistleblower that sparked impeachment proceedings, arguing during his Fox News show Wednesday that his own safety is at greater risk. Mr. Carlson made the comparison while complaining during his primetime opinion program about recent efforts to protect the whistleblower by keeping his or her name under wraps. “The hyenas on television are jumping up and down hyperventilating, telling people, ‘How dare you want to know the identity, it could endanger that person.’ Which, frankly, [is] a little insulting to those of us who give our opinions everyday, kind of out there,” he said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “His life’s in danger? Oh spare me. Live my life for a week,” Mr. Carlson said later during the episode.)
— Meet Safiya Khalid, elected to Lewiston Maine city council (DIERSEN: What if voters in Wheaton’s West District had voted to fill the recent Wheaton West District City Council vacancy? I would have been one of the ten candidates. The following voters in Wheaton’s West District would NOT have voted for me: those who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders, anti-federal retirees, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
http://www.gopusa.com/?p=79083
(FROM THE ARTICLE: During a post-election speech at the Agora Grand Event Center on Tuesday, Safiya Khalid said she has always been told she holds many “firsts” in her family — the first to graduate high school, the first to graduate from college. On Tuesday, she also added a first for the city, becoming Lewiston’s first Somali-American to serve on the City Council. At 23, she’s also the youngest. On Wednesday morning, just a few hours after she defeated fellow Democrat Walter “Ed” Hill with nearly 70% of the vote, news outlets were lining up to interview her. Khalid said she had been contacted by NPR and CNN, among others. The Washington Post interviewed her Tuesday night, weighing in on a race marked by her historic win, the racism she faced and harassment allegations against members of her campaign. Khalid said early Wednesday that she was still “in shock” from the victory, as well as the amount of national attention she’s receiving. “Lewiston is out there,” she said. Khalid, with her mother and two younger brothers, fled Somalia at the age of 7, arriving first in New Jersey before relocating to Lewiston. For the Somali community, especially immigrants who began settling in Lewiston in the early 2000s, Khalid’s election is a significant step. Fowsia Musse, who works with Healthy Androscoggin and Maine Community Integration, came to the United States in 1995 and was among the first Somali refugees to settle in Lewiston. The day after Tuesday’s election, Musse said “words cannot describe how happy I am for the representation we are now being given” in city government. “I’m very happy for Safiya’s victory in this electoral process,” she said in an email. “Safiya has worked relentlessly hard to earn this. I want to congratulate the other winners, and thank them for the fair fight. Together we can all move forward as a united Maine. Best wishes to all the candidates!” Jordy Dushime, founder of the African Youth Alliance and recent graduate of Lewiston High School said Wednesday that it’s “revolutionary that a minority and especially an immigrant/refugee is able to take place in the decision making of Lewiston.” Dushime, 19, came to Lewiston from Burundi three years ago, and founded the African Youth Alliance as an after-school resource for teenagers. “As a black refugee woman, she is able to inspire us, the future generations to strive to participate in our communities and our beloved state,” he said. Rilwan Osman, executive director of Maine Immigrant & Refugee Services, said Wednesday that Khalid’s win marked “a huge change for our community.”)

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/11/07/exclusive-ted-cruz-big-tech-is-a-growing-threat-to-our-democracy/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Texas senator said that big tech’s censorship serves as a fundamental threat to America’s democratic system of government by stifling free speech on the Internet. “Big tech’s power, bias, and censorship is profoundly dangerous, and it is a growing threat to our democracy,” Cruz said. “As chairman of the Constitution subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee, I have chaired multiple hearings focused on big tech bias and censorship. We’ve heard witness after witness testify; we’ve seen the evidence pile up of big tech silencing voices with which it disagrees. Shadow banning conservatives, shadow banning anyone who does not follow the political orthodoxy of a handful of big tech Silicon Valley billionaires.” “What is new is the ability of big tech to silently disappear the voices of those with which they disagree and simultaneously and equally silently amplify the voices with which they agree, and there’s no transparency, there’s no accountability,” he added. Cruz also warned that Google’s biased search algorithm could interfere in the 2020 elections. Professor Robert Epstein told the senator during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in July that Google could manipulate millions of voters into voting for Democrats during the 2020 election using their biased search engine.)

— Views differ on getting things done under ethics cloud – Bernard Schoenburg (DIERSEN: Government is nasty. Politics is nasty. Have you been put under an ethics cloud? In 1974, when I was a 25 year old GS-11 (currently $68,897/year) IRS employee, I was one of an extremely few IRS employees who was not a Democrat, minority, female, veteran, non-Protestant, and/or non-German American. My IRS superiors were under tremendous pressure a) to hire, retain, and promote young Democrat minorities and young Democrat females and b) to make way for them by getting rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who had not made GS-13 (currently $98,198) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $116,040) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $136,495) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $165,500) by age 40. To get rid of me, and to retaliate against me for complaining about political affiliation discrimination and reverse discrimination, my Democrat IRS superiors put me under an ethics cloud. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that my travel vouchers were fraudulent. SEE: https://www.gao.gov/products/463866 Of course, that ended whatever IRS career that I might have had. There’s a photo of him with the state’s Democratic governor, Ralph Northam. Yet Mr. Davis is a Republican. He voted with his party to adjourn a special legislative session on gun control that Mr. Northam called this summer — 90 minutes after it began. When he campaigned for lieutenant governor in 2017, he said he was “running to do exactly what Donald Trump did in Washington.” Now, he is among a coterie of Republicans who are campaigning on issues long identified with Democrats ahead of Tuesday’s elections for the Virginia legislature, shifting away from a Republican base that in the age of Trump can no longer win suburban elections on its own. “We have a little bit of a messaging issue, we do,” Mr. Davis said in an interview this week.)

There’s little information about these sites. They typically lack mastheads, local addresses and clear disclosure of their ownership or revenue sources. Voters could easily become confused about the origins of information from these seemingly innocuous local-sounding outlets. In 2016, for example, websites in the Illinois network interviewed Republican candidates favored by a conservative state political committee, which then paid to mail print newspaper versions of the sites to voters without identifying them as political advertising.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Donald Trump ‘s former chief of staff, John Kelly , says he advised the president not to fill the job with someone who wouldn’t be honest with him and provide a check on his impulses because he would end up being impeached. “That was almost 11 months ago, and I have an awful lot of, to say the least, second thoughts about leaving,” Kelly told the Washington Examiner. “It pains me to see what’s going on because I believe if I was still there or someone like me was there, he would not be kind of, all over the place.” “I said, whatever you do — and we were still in the process of trying to find someone to take my place — I said whatever you do, don’t hire a ‘yes man,’ someone who won’t tell you the truth — don’t do that. Because if you do, I believe you will be impeached,” Kelly recalled in an interview at the Sea Island Summit, a political conference hosted by the Examiner. Kelly said he does not believe the president would be in his current predicament if he had stayed as chief of staff. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement of her own Saturday: “I worked with John Kelly, and he was totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great President.” Trump pushed back on Kelly’s comments in a statement: “John Kelly never said that, he never said anything like that. If he would have said that, I would have thrown him out of the office. He just wants to come back into the action like everybody else does.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: In August 2019, the Economic Policy Institute reported that, in 2018, the average pay of CEOs at America’s 350 top firms hit $17.2 million―an increase, when adjusted for inflation, of 1,007.5 percent since 1978. By contrast, the typical worker’s wage, adjusted for inflation, grew by only 11.9 percent over this 40-year period. In 1965, the ratio of CEO-to-worker’s pay stood at 20-to-1; by 2018 (when CEOs received another hefty pay raise and workers received a 0.2 percent pay cut), it had reached 278-to-1. An AFL-CIO study, released in June 2019, had similar findings. Examining compensation at Standard & Poors 500 companies, the labor federation reported that average CEO pay in 2018 had increased by $5.2 million over the preceding 10 years. This resulted in an average CEO-to-worker pay ratio of 287-to-1. These figures, of course, are only averages, and at numerous major corporations, the economic gap between boss and worker is much greater. According to the AFL-CIO, the CEO-to-worker pay ratio at Walmart (America’s largest private employer) is 1,076 to 1, at Walt Disney Company 1,424-to-1, at McDonald’s 2,124-to-1, and at Gap 3,566-to-1. At 49 S&P 500 firms, noted an Institute for Policy Studies report, half the work force―that is, 3.7 million employees―received wages below the official U.S. poverty line for a family of four.)

DAILY HERALD
— As Trump comes to town, which suburban Republicans will join the bandwagon? – Marni Pyke
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20191026/as-trump-comes-to-town-which-suburban-republicans-will-join-the-bandwagon
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Some normally easy-to-reach Republican state representatives and senators didn’t return calls asking if they endorse Trump’s reelection or were buying tickets for the fundraising luncheon Monday starting at $2,800 a person. But Sen. Dan McConchie, a conservative Hawthorn Woods Republican, said he would be in Springfield during Trump’s Chicago visit. When asked if he supported Trump’s reelection, McConchie said, “No comment.” Rep. Allen Skillicorn of East Dundee, however, was all in. “Most politicians make promises with no intention to actually fulfill them,” Skillicorn said. “President Donald Trump is different. He has delivered on most of his promises. I’m confident his popularity has gone up in the suburbs versus 2016.” State Sen. Jim Oberweis of Sugar Grove said he supports Trump’s reelection but is not attending Monday’s events. . .”If they’re looking at a general election in a swing district, people need to be really careful how they embrace (Trump),” former Illinois Republican Senate Leader Christine Radogno said. Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider of Bartlett, who will be attending on Monday, was optimistic local Republicans “will support the president at almost a 95 percent rate.” Conservative state Rep. David McSweeney of Barrington Hills intends to back the president over any possible Democratic nominee, but he won’t be at Monday’s Trump events. “I agree with President Trump on cutting taxes and deregulation. I don’t agree with him on everything. For example, I have some disagreements with him on trade and foreign policy,” McSweeney said, clarifying he opposes the president’s abrupt decision to pull troops from the Kurdish occupied area of Syria. Typically when presidents visit, they’re surrounded by top party officials such as governors, senators and congressional representatives. That won’t happen this week with Illinois’ Democratic governor, U.S. senators and suburban House members, although former state Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton hopes to change some of that party balance. Republican Ives, of Wheaton, who is running in the 6th Congressional District against first-term U.S. Rep. Sean Casten, supports Trump’s reelection but has no plans to go to his events on Monday. Asked about grading his job so far, “it depends on the policy or issue,” said Ives, who ran for governor in 2018. Trump might not be the only choice for Illinois voters in the March primary. Former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh of Mundelein is running for the Republican nomination, although with just $115,000 in his coffers it’s a long shot, said Republican strategist Aaron Del Mar. The Palatine Township Republican committeeman, a friend of Walsh’s, is not only solidly in the Trump camp, but he’s selling tickets for the fundraiser. “I’m not a 100 percent for everything the president says,” Del Mar said.)

My critics/opponents falsely deny that while I worked for GAO 1980-1997, the agency was almost always under promotion freezes, that it shrank from about 6,000 employees to about 3,000 employees, and that it suffered tremendous budget cuts during the mid-1990s. My critics/opponents falsely argue that my superiors in the federal government were never under pressure from Democrat politicians a) to hire, retain, and promote young Democrat minorities and young Democrat females or b) to make way for them by getting rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran and who they had not promoted to GS-13 (currently $98,198) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $116,040) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $136,495) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $165,500) by age 40. My critics/opponents falsely dent that extremely few federal employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines. My critics/opponents falsely argue that my Democrat superiors in the federal government did not take adverse actions against me a) because I complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation or b) because I became an active member in a class action lawsuit in 1988 that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Benioff, who also is CEO of software firm Salesforce, likened Facebook to cigarettes for having addictive powers and harmful effects on kids. “Facebook is addictive, it’s not good for you, they’re after your kids, they’re running political ads that aren’t true … and they’re also acquiring other companies and co-mingling data those companies have on their users into theirs for more power,” he said in an interview with CNN. Benioff isn’t the only media executive who has criticized Facebook. Rupert Murdoch, the News Corp. CEO whose political affiliations are the opposite of Benioff’s, also wants to rein in Facebook. Murdoch is dependent on the social network’s power to drive web traffic. His Fox News website generated more Facebook “engagements” than any other publisher during the third quarter, according to analytics firm NewsWhip. Those engagements keep people glued to Facebook, which is problematic for publishers that want to monetize their own audiences. Facebook reportedly is addressing this issue by offering cash payments to publishers whose articles appear in its news section, but it remains to be seen how lucrative that source of revenue will be.)

— The Trump Impeachment Inquiry: Latest Updates (DIERSEN: Have you ever been “under investigation?” To get rid of me, my Democrat IRS superiors had me “under investigation” 1974-1977. SEE GAO DECISION: http://www.gao.gov/products/463866 During the 1970s, IRS purposely kept its definition of “commuting area” vague so that it could use it to punish or to reward its employees. When my IRS Democrat superiors succeeded in getting rid of the IRS manager who had promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974, they used a narrow definition of “commuting area” to disallow my partial day per diem claims. They hinted/implied/argued that my partial day per diem claims were fraudulent. Needless-to-say, that ended my IRS career. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.)
