Since 2004, those emails have included links to almost 272,600 articles of interest to Illinois Republicans and information on many upcoming events.  GOPUSA ILLINOIS email subscriptions are worth at least $1,000/year.  I spend about an hour putting the emails together and sending them out for every six articles in the emails, that is, since 2004, I have spent about 45,400 hours doing that, that is, at $100/hour, I have made in-kind donations to the aforesaid worth about $4,543,100.)

— Former Mariano’s employee sues over fingerprint data – NONA TEPPER  (DIERSEN: To deter/detect potential conflicts of interest, federal employees are required to give their superiors lots of information about their financial assets and debts.  Federal employees should expect that their superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates who want to waste your career and who want to get rid of you will get your financial information and will use that information against you.  My Democrat IRS and GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates talked and acted like they knew exactly what was on my and my wife’s income tax returns, what our incomes were, what are financial and other assets were, what our debts were, that we had no dependents, etc. They talked and acted like they viewed us as being undeservedly selfish rich DINKs (dual income, no kids).  They painted me as being someone who had way too much money, and therefore, a) someone who did not need nor should get pay increases or promotions and b) someone who should take early retirement as soon as it is offered.  They always hinted/implied/argued/shouted a) that instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a poor person in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it so that a poor person could have my job, c) that instead of me, IRS should have hired a poor person in 1971, d) that instead of me, IRS should have promoted poor people in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) that instead of me, GAO should have hired a poor person in 1980, f) that instead of me, GAO should have promoted a poor person in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a poor person could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

— Gambling is a vice.  Government should not promote any kind of vice.  In its Tuesday, June 13, 2017, morning edition tomorrow, GOPUSA ILLINOIS will report on how each of the 18 DuPage County Board Members voted, and how Chairman Dan Cronin voted if necessary to break a tie, to keep or lift DuPage County’s ban on video gambling in unincorporated areas.  They will vote at the DuPage County Finance Committee meeting Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 7:30 AM.  Please join Kathy Gilroy, me, and others who will speak at this meeting in favor of keeping the ban. Based on the minutes of the May 23, 2017 DuPage County Board meeting, a motion will be made at this meeting to refer the matter to another committee. If you are in DuPage County, please email DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, the 18 DuPage County Board members, and especially, the 3 board members who represent your district (SEE BELOW), to vote to keep the ban. Needless-to-say, before any vote by the full Board is taken to lift the ban, public hearings should be held in each of the county’s six districts. Will 9 vote to keep the ban and 9 vote to left the ban so that Cronin can break the tie?  In 2009, I played a major role in getting the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) to unanimously pass a resolution against video gambling throughout DuPage County. (FROM THE ARTICLE: The sad reality is that public sector auditors can face retaliation – isolation, smear campaigns, diminution of duties, even suspension and termination – just for doing their jobs. If the fruits of the audit function’s labors conflict with an agency head’s political agenda, too often the political agenda wins and the auditor loses. The threat is so real, and the stakes so high, that many practitioners embroiled in sticky political situations have to inform their colleagues anonymously – or with the approval of a lawyer. That’s why Patton’s tale is attributed directly to him; all his comments have been approved by counsel so they don’t impact the ongoing litigation. Solutions are few, but they do exist. If other practitioners know what to watch for and how to prepare for the worst, some may avoid the untenable situations their colleagues deal with. As an internal auditor under fire at a mid-level school district says, “Exposure of these issues may help someone else.” Ultimately, of course, some public sector auditors caught up in politics will simply have to fall on their swords. At the end of the day, the public servant trying to suppress the truth likely won an election or received an appointment from someone in office, so the auditor trying to tell the truth may be pressured to get on board or get out. But in many cases, targeted relationship-building and a firm grasp of the agency’s governance structure will go a long way toward avoiding catastrophe. The political motivation to punish an auditor often involves information that’s incriminating to the person who ordered the audit in the first place – sometimes under a law or regulation. In one case, an audit investigation found evidence that a school board CEO had been less than honest about his credentials; in another, a culture audit – which, in law enforcement is often going to be politically sensitive – contained pretty damning results; and another uncovered fraud in a university’s program accepting bodies of people willed to science. Often, it’s a more mundane reason, like auditors looking into contracts or programs that executive directors don’t want exposed or, as in Patton’s case, assisting outside agencies in their investigations. Sometimes it’s as simple as an executive director who insists that the audit function in general has a “gotcha” mentality. In fact, one anonymous practitioner facing retaliation at a local school district says she has come to believe that “any audit that falls under the chief operating officer or chief financial officer’s (CFO’s) jurisdiction or any audit that makes a board look like it isn’t providing governance and oversight will be political.” The means of punishing auditors vary as well, within fairly defined limits.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Currently there are 2,625, 261 federal retirees or their survivors.  Right now, as you read this, another 300,000 active duty federal workers are eligible to retire and will, sooner or later, do so.  That’s a lot of people. Go into any McDonald’s, from Scottsville, Ky., to Pismo Beach, Calif., at any time of the day and you will likely see a former fed, or six, chowing down and talking.  The same for your local grocery store whether it is in Washington, D.C., to Washington Court House, Pa.  Or on Guam or American Samoa.  Former feds, and their wallets, purses or credit cards, are just about everywhere. Years ago a very sophisticated federal retiree — my mother — who lived near Fort Myers, Fla., explained that lots of people continue to eat out after retirement “we just do it earlier.”  So we may not see them, but they are definitely there.  According to data from the Office of Personnel Management just over 17 percent of all federal retirees have monthly annuities of $4,000 or more.  Another 22 percent get between $3,000 and $2,999 while 14 percent get $1,000 to $1,999.  Fewer than 9 percent get $1,000 or less per month from their civil service retirement benefit.   Most of the current retirees are under the older CSRS system which fully indexes their annuities to inflation regardless of age.   Workers retiring under the FERS system get cost of living adjustments (starting at age 62) that are partially indexed to inflation.  At least since the Reagan administration. But life-after-retirement (for current feds too) could change drastically if Congress goes along with the Trump administration plan to charge current workers 6 percent more for their retirement benefits, to reduce COLAs for CSRS retirees by giving them 0.5 percent less than the actual increase in inflation each year, by eliminating COLAs completely for FERS retirees (9 out of every 10 current workers is under FERS and would become part of the Zero Diet COLA group), and to eliminate an annual “gap” payment that now goes to FERS retirees until they reach age 62 and become eligible for Social Security. Although they too retire under an enhanced version of the civil service retirement program, many politicians at the House, Senate and now White House level view federal workers either as clowns, drones or creatures from the swamp.  They lap up studies — usually from conservative think tanks —showing federal workers are overpaid and ignore those that show feds, particularly at higher grade and skill levels, are dramatically underpaid compared to their private sector counterparts in Washington, Houston, San Francisco and New York City. Reducing the buying power of federal workers (by making them pay more for their pensions) and retirees, by reducing or eliminating COLAs in the future, could hurt many communities that depend on the federal pay or pension dollar to stay afloat.  So how big a deal is the federal-postal retiree dollar.  Check out this chart from the OPM.  It shows the number of retirees (and their survivor annuitants in each state, and the value of their annuity payments.  The chart does not include the value of Thrift Savings Plan accounts the retirees have or any Social Security payments they received for covered work before or after they were in government:)
