My father never earned more than $50,000/year in today’s dollars. He almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills. He had less money a) because he had brittle type 1 diabetes and had to pay the high cost of insulin and b) because he sent me and my brother on parochial grade schools. He was the first of my ancestors to earn a high school diploma. But because he had diabetes, he never attended college. Because of the aforesaid, I had to work my way through college and I did work my way through college.

The biggest decisions that I made in my life include a) going to college, b) taking college preparatory courses in high school, c) getting the best ACT score that I could, and d) graduating in the upper 20% of my class. According to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes, the real reason for the aforesaid was my wanting to avoid the Vietnam draft. In my defense, starting while I was in grade school, my outstanding father frequently decried his not having a college degree. He had brittle type 1 diabetes from childhood. Everyone discouraged him from going to college arguing that the stress of trying to get a college degree would kill him. They succeeded in getting him to take stenography courses in high school. The best job that he could get was working in the office of a nasty chemical plant in northeast (downwind) Chicago Heights. He never made more than $50,000/year in today’s dollars. He almost always worked second jobs (playing music, selling hot dogs, delivering eggs) to pay the family’s bills. He did not buy a new car until he was 45 and it was a bottom of the line 2-door Chevrolet. He died suddenly in 1969 when he was 47 and I was 21.

In 1974, to get rid of me, my Democrat IRS superiors not only disallowed my travel vouchers, they hinted/implied that my vouchers were fraudulent. Of course, that ended my IRS career. The National Treasury Employees Union and GAO came to my defense and I eventually won in 1977. The aforesaid forced me to suffer a $21,863/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. I would not have had to suffer the aforesaid adverse actions if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, and/or a veteran.

My Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates rudely treated me like I was a rookie when I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old. They ignored, dismissed, belittled, badmouthed, demonized, denigrated, and condemned the fact a) that I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 Levels, currently $92,279-$104,583/year, b) that I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, c) that I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and d) that much of what I did for IRS would be very similar to what I would be doing for GAO. They stressed that I had been forced to suffer a $21,863 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, and/or a veteran.
