FOX NEWS
— Can Mitt Romney actually be expelled from the Republican Party? – Tyler Olson (DIERSEN: In Illinois, the more planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform that you support, the more likely that Democrat plant, Libertarian plant, Green plant, and RINO party leaders will expel you.)
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/can-mitt-romney-actually-be-expelled-from-the-republican-party
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The U.S. political system may be run by two major parties, but compared with other countries, those parties have very little control over the positions espoused and votes cast by their members. The Republican National Committee has nothing in its rules about expelling an individual member from the party. In fact, while it is active as a campaign arm of the GOP and provides guidance to state parties and individual members on the general direction of the party, the RNC typically only has full control over the national party convention it hosts every four years. Most of its rules have to do with filling various party offices, delegate selection for the national convention and the procedure by which its convention runs. The only rule the RNC has regarding support for individual candidates bans it from supporting candidates in contested primaries and stipulates that someone running for another party’s nomination cannot be recognized as the GOP nominee. The Utah Republican Party does have a provision for expelling candidates from party membership, but it would not apply to Romney. A rule in the Utah GOP’s by-laws mandates that candidates running for office as a Republican have to sign an agreement saying they support the state party’s platform with a list of any platform stances they disagree with. Candidates who do not sign the agreement “will automatically forfeit their Party membership two days following the State designated candidate filing-period deadline.”)

If I had been a Democrat, the Democrats who ran GAO a) would not have forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, b) would not have given me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, c) would not have always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, d) would have promoted me beyond GS-13, e) would not have gotten rid of my mentor in 1987, f) would have assigned me to audits of IRS, and g) would not have forced me to take a $20,157 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The House impeachment hearings have enabled the same rise in public support of Trump. His poll ratings of late have reached the highest level of support in his tenure as president. Polls vary, but his favorable ratings now run anywhere between 46 to 50 percent. This owes to the intense hatred of him by the media and House Democrats. Look at his presidential rallies since the poundings against him in the House: tens of thousands of supporters are showing up, many coming the night before and sleeping on the ground. The hatred has awakened the giant. I don’t much care for Donald Trump’s character because his ego is larger than the Empire State Building. But I will vote for him because I very much like his many achievements as president. Haters don’t want to acknowledge these achievements. They want to focus on what’s wrong with a dream rather than what’s right about it. If you show them a sheet of paper with dots on it, they will focus on the dots rather than on the otherwise full sheet of paper.)

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/31/business/media/iowa-caucus-media-starting-line.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The best political journalism you’ve never heard of is coming from a scrappy start-up in the East Village. The East Village of Des Moines, that is. Iowa Starting Line, a no-frills news outlet that started out as a rookie reporter and his Twitter account, is the new must-read of the 2020 campaign. Elite reporters follow it. Candidates care about it. And at a painful time in the local news business, its six-person staff has started to rival The Des Moines Register for scoops and influence in the first-in-the-nation presidential caucus. “If I want to know what’s happening on the ground in Iowa, I’m clicking on The Register or Iowa Starting Line, and not necessarily in that order,” said Tim Alberta, Politico’s chief political correspondent. At a recent debate night in Des Moines, Starting Line’s founder and editor, Pat Rynard, an unassuming Missourian in a blazer and checked shirt, was surrounded by network news reporters seeking the latest political gossip. Dave Weigel, a national writer for The Washington Post, told Mr. Rynard he reads the site to stay current. “It’s so the locals don’t think, ‘This East Coast schmuck doesn’t know anything,’” Mr. Weigel quipped. Mr. Rynard, 34, is a genial former Democratic operative who left his job in 2015 to try his hand at journalism. Now his team of five reporters — some barely out of college — is bigger than the political staffs at many of the state’s newspapers, which have been badly hurt by layoffs. Starting Line, which is donor- and ad-supported, opened its first newsroom in June in Des Moines’s hip East Village district. (Before that, Mr. Rynard was a solo act, editing from home with his dachshund, Franklin, at his feet.) The stark décor is, almost accidentally, start-up chic: concrete floors, industrial lighting, a bare-bones podcast room where Jane Sanders, wife of Bernie, was a recent guest.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: As a long time (and older) reader, I feel truly insulted by James Cassel’s article about retaining younger workers published in Business Monday on Jan. 27. Basically, he’s saying that old workers ought to just vanish into the sunset and uses dog-whistle phrases like: These “diehards” have varying motivations for extending their careers. They “may feel” they still have much to offer. You may also need to work with senior-level people to “alter their positions” Imagine you had to explain to white workers why “diehard” black workers are in the way? Or male workers why “diehard” females are in the way? Or tell a black worker you have to “alter his position” because a white guy wants it. Did it escape your Miami Herald [editors] that age discrimination is illegal? Immoral? My opinion as a 40-year reader of the Herald? Cassel is the one that should be (forcibly) marched into the sunset.)

My Democrat GAO superiors would stress that they forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $20,157 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors would stress that they did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. The question is whether they can do that without tilting to the center. – Tana Ganeva (DIERSEN: If you are a Republican, what would Democrats stress to you to get you to leave the Republican Party? They would stress to me how the Republican Party in Illinois, in DuPage County, in Milton Township, and in Wheaton ever-increasingly fails/refuses to defend/advance its platform, and especially its traditional family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, Second Amendment, and equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) planks.)

— How soon, if not already, will those who want Republicans to lose elections succeed in getting the Republican Party to officially adopt the following rules? – Dave Diersen
http://www.gopillinois.com

1. The Republican Party will not support candidates unless they are at least one of the following: young, minority, female, veteran, non-conservative, non-Protestant, non-German American, their ancestors have not been in America for a long time.

2. The Republican Party will not allow people to hold leadership positions in the party unless they are at least one of the following: young, minority, female, veteran, non-conservative, non-Protestant, non-German American, their ancestors have not been in America for a long time.

3. The more of the following that candidates and party leaders are, the more support that the Republican Party will give them: young, minority, female, veteran, non-conservative, non-Protestant, non-German American, their ancestors have not been in America for a long time.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Good Sunday morning, everyone! How do you feel about the new Illinois law legalizing marijuana? There are pros and cons to it, as there are to any topic, and everyone has his or her own opinion. I hadn’t given a lot of thought on it until I went to Walmart shopping this week. The smell of pot was everywhere — walking by people in the grocery aisles and really strong at the self-checkout lanes on the east end of the store. As a joke I said I think I could have gotten high without even smoking it if I stayed in there much longer. But here is the reality of what I am saying. The strong aroma of marijuana means to me that they most likely smoked it shortly before they came into the store, possibly while driving to the store. It is against the law to smoke marijuana while driving, just as it is against the law to drink alcohol while driving. The possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, by the driver or passenger, is not permitted unless it is in a sealed, odor-proof, child-resistant cannabis container. What else is not permitted according to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services? Using cannabis knowingly in close physical proximity to anyone under the age of 21 years of age who is not a registered medical cannabis patient. Smoking cannabis in any place where smoking is prohibited under the Smoke Free Illinois Act. Facilitating the use of cannabis by any person who is not allowed to use cannabis. The only positive effect of smoking marijuana that I have found is the reduction of chronic pain and it cures a type of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gestaut Syndrome. To me the negative effects outweigh the good, though. Smoking marijuana causes the heart rate to increase by at least 20 beats per minute, and the risk of heart attacks is four times as high as for a person who doesn’t smoke it. Marijuana causes a sting in the mouth and throat and often triggers coughing. Scientist found that people who smoke it regularly had respiratory problems. It also has four times the amount of tar and twice as many carcinogens than tobacco, therefore giving a greater risk to developing lung cancer. As for mothers who smoked marijuana during pregnancy, their babies were born with a delayed neurological development. Causing them problems with memory and responding to visual stimuli. I will admit I was shocked to see the extremely long line of people waiting January one to purchase the product. Many of the dispensaries in Illinois ran out and they and the state made more money in that one day then originally predicted. But just because the state of Illinois decided it was a good idea to legalize marijuana doesn’t mean it’s legal to smoke where you want, when you want, just keep that in mind. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. Live United.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Democrats need to utilize “cold-blooded” tactics to win the 2020 election for the sake of the country’s future, during an interview with Bill Maher. Calling her the “Iron Lady,” Maher asked Pelosi on his Friday show for her thoughts on the current state of the Democratic Party. “I feel like the Democratic Party is very often the victim of their own purity tests,” Maher said. “I don’t worry about that,” Pelosi said. “You have to be ready to take a punch. And you have to be ready to throw a punch, for the children.” Pelosi, 79, said the Democratic Party needs to use “disciplined, focused, cold-blooded” tactics to win in 2020, just as they did in 2018. Maher concluded the interview by saying, “Good to have your cold-blooded self on our side.” Earlier in the interview, Maher, 63, insisted the Left must refrain from hating the president’s supporters, even if they hate the president himself. “You can hate Trump. You can’t hate the people who like him,” Maher said, warning, “That way lies, literally, civil war.” Pelosi agreed with Maher’s sentiment, adding that she respects constituents with whom she disagrees. Pelosi also mentioned Trump’s impeachment, saying, “And you’re impeached forever! No matter what the Senate does, it can never be erased.” Pelosi said Trump gave the Democrats no choice but to impeach him, claiming, “The president was self-impeaching almost every single day.”)

You didn’t give us a deadline for the disclaimer and you said it was only necessary for and if we wanted to boost,” Mr. Hyde tweeted on Saturday, and linked to the Journal’s article. Boosting is when a Facebook user pays to reach new audiences. “We haven’t boosted in two years. AMERICAN THINKER
— The plight of the unwoke – Lynne Lechter (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes paint themselves as being very woke. I should write a book about them. They paint me as being someone who has unfairly benefitted from my being White, male, Missouri Synod Lutheran, German American, conservative, Republican, American, raised in Crete, raised by a stay-at-home mother, having good health, having ancestors who have been in America for a long time, earning college degrees, earning professional certifications, earning a professional license, working for the federal government for almost 30 years, getting married, and not having children.)
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/01/the_plight_of_the_unwoke.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Urban slang defines a person being “woke” or “wokeness” as someone being cognizant of “social justice.” Social justice, in this worldview, encompasses racism, feminism, gender fluidity, inequality, and “undocumented visitors” (illegal aliens). The very word connotes a superior state of being in which any opposing opinion is perceived as a personal affront, or even attack, and triggers the necessity for safe spaces. Opposing viewpoints are bludgeoned on college campuses and in the mainstream media as racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, gun-toting, and Bible-thumping idiocies. Oh, the elitism — and blindness! The woke are really the unwoke — those with no sense of self-awareness of the hypocritical and self-aggrandizing images they actually project to the rest of us. Examples abound.)

— NowThis Isn’t Journalism – Adam Guillette
https://townhall.com/columnists/adamguillette/2020/01/18/now-this-isnt-journalism-n2559692
(FROM THE ARTICLE: NowThis and its allies are so desperate to smear President Donald Trump that they’re resorting to lies about the Holocaust. In one of the outlet’s latest propaganda pieces, NowThis sat down with a radical leftwing group of campus Jews and Palestinians and gave them an opportunity to promote their extremist views. While it’s nice to see Jews and Arabs sitting together in peace, the bloom comes off the rose when we learn that they have only come together to promote lies and hate. Perhaps the biggest lie perpetuated in the video occurred when one member of the group compared the plight of immigrants on the American border to that of Anne Frank.)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/after-stretch-iras-what-retirement-breaks-could-congress-chop-next-11579257004
(FROM THE ARTICLE: • Require annual payouts from Roth IRAs. Current law requires annual withdrawals from traditional IRAs for savers who are age 72 and older, but it doesn’t require them for Roth IRA owners. Ed Slott, an IRA specialist and certified public accountant, says this proposal would take away one of the biggest draws of a Roth IRA, which is payout flexibility. He also worries that it could open the door to indirect taxes, in the same way that tax-free municipal-bond income is included when calculating Social Security taxes and Medicare premiums.)

— Are military members paid too much? – Brittany De Lea (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those who have hinted/implied/argued/shouted the loudest that the federal government overpaid me. ASSOCIATED PRESS
— Democratic 2020 candidates vie for union, Latino votes (DIERSEN: Do candidates vie for votes from those who share your demographics? Ever-increasingly, RINO candidates fail/refuse to vie for votes from those who are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, non-poor, gun owners, German American, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time. Ever-increasingly, RINO candidates pander to those who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time. — Retirement And The Laws To Help Older Workers – William Baldwin (DIERSEN: All my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes promote age discrimination. I should write a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes.
