CHICAGO TRIBUNE — FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD: Democrats say “Illinois is solidly blue” and ask “So why did President Joe Biden’s reelection effort spend so much time here this summer?” Ever-increasingly, it looks like if Biden is not the Democrat Party’s presidential candidate in 2024, it is going to be Pritzker. Pritzker has had great success in Illinois promoting the Democrat Party platform, that is, he has had great success in promoting a) dependency on government and charity, b) LGBTQ, c) abortion, d) mass/illegal immigration, e) diminishment of Second Amendment rights, f) booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, g) patronage, h) political affiliation discrimination, i) reverse discrimination, and j) age discrimination. EFFINGHAM DAILY NEWS — Democrats crow that “Pritzker, state leaders call on Biden to allow Illinois to sponsor work permits for migrants.” If there had been as many illegals in America when I was young as there are now, they would have gotten the jobs that I got. Sure, there is no shortage of bankers, doctors, and lawyers waving MAGA flags — but they are not the locus of momentum. The true power of the movement, its moral weight and foundation, comes from a working class who has gotten the short end of the stick in every policy decision since the end of the Cold War. Globalization, it was promised, would raise all boats. Open markets, cheap manufacturing, free-flowing capital would benefit the wealthy most, but the working man could get cheaper flat screens at Walmart — so really, it’s a win-win. The value and purpose of work was exported by people who could not understand why having an honest job matters as long as welfare expansion keeps pace with market growth. Who needs a community when we’re all global citizens now, anyway? Today’s labor movement is not asking for anything radical — merely that we return to the type of social contract that we already know works. Yet it is these notions of dignity and patriotism — utterly uncontroversial until a few short years ago — that the modern left fears the most. Conservatives should not run from the movement Trump created. Some may resist out of their own pretensions, but zombie Reaganism is not enough to keep the Republican party alive for much longer. If for no other reason than self-interest, Republicans should embrace the ethos of Labor Day and proudly reclaim it has a conservative holiday. More than that though, they ought to internalize that message and give voice to the constituency most overlooked by both parties. Now we can never go back to the 1950s economy, nor should we seek to. But conservative leaders should heed Grover Cleveland’s lesson: when you ignore the genuine concerns of the masses, you risk fomenting the very radicalism you seek to deter. This time around, Americans will need much more than just another day off.)

BET — Democrats crow that “Gen Z Likely Last Generation With White Majority.” Democrats ever-increasingly replace those in America who have demographics that vote for Republicans with those who have demographics that vote for Democrats. Overwhelmingly, those who vote for Democrats need/want massive government assistance and are overwhelmingly minority, female, younger, LGBTQ, veteran, non-married, non-Protestant, non-German American, lack education, lack job skills, have major financial, health, and/or other problems and/or are drinkers, gamblers, stoners, and/or criminals. White Americans constituted a significant portion of that generation, particularly in the 65 to 74 age group. At the same time, the census data indicates that the White American population declined between 2010 and 2020 in age groups below 55. Demographers attributed the White population’s decrease in younger generations to increased births and immigration among people of color, but more significantly, to Baby Boomers entering the senior age ranks.)

Which candidates are running for those offices? What do you know about those candidates? How much does your Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain know about those candidates? Starting in 2000, as a Republican Precinct Committeeman, I would circulate petitions in my precinct for all the Republican primary candidates. Typically, I would get 30 signatures for each candidate. But I am increasingly discouraged from doing that because too many candidates and their political consultants, major donors, fundraisers, pollsters, campaign managers, campaign staff members, and campaign volunteers have blamed me and have blamed my GOPUSA ILLINOIS newsletters for their defeats. Most commonly, they demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me as being far too conservative, and therefore, the more that I do to help elect a candidate in a primary, if that candidate wins that primary, the more votes that candidate will lose in the general election. They hint/imply/argue/shout that candidates who I help win Republican primary elections are too conservative to win general elections. Further, candidates routinely get copies of the petitions that their opponents filed and look for anything that they can use against their opponents. They especially look to see who circulated petitions for their opponents and what they can use about those circulators against their opponents. Beyond my being demonized, denigrated, and condemned as being far too conservative, my demographics are terrible: White, male, older, draft-avoider, gun-owner, Protestant, 100% German American, my ancestors have been in America for a long time, union member for almost 12 years, federal employee for almost 30 years, federal retiree for almost 26 years, and someone who fights against the promotion of dependency on government and charity, LGBTQ, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, diminishment of Second Amendment rights, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination. The more that candidates are really Democrat plants, Libertarian plants, Green plants, Independent plants, or RINOs, the more that they do not want me to circulate their petitions. In my defense, political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform, The Republican Party platform in conservative. If you are not going to defend and advance the Republican Party platform, you should not seek or hold any kind of government or political office as a Republican. https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/ct-illinois-election-season-begins-20230901-ivmvk5klnnghbdcaz7dtchmwju-story.html

Todd Bensman’s Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History is an essential book for understanding this migrant maelstrom. Reading his analysis of the unfolding border catastrophe can be wrenching, even infuriating, but conservatives need to grapple with a historic disaster, and the valuable material presented in this important book. Overrun is a fire-bell ringing in the night. A White House that erases national borders, ignores federal laws, and refuses to expel illegal arrivals is on a mission to fundamentally change the country. While the country’s situation is dire, even desperate, Overrun also offers crucial policy fixes, most notably the need to “tear down and rebuild the American asylum system.” Few people know more about Biden’s disastrous policies than Bensman, a former intelligence official for the Texas Department of Public Safety, a border-security analyst, and an award-winning investigative journalist. As the reader would expect, Overrun examines much public policy, but it is also filled with human-interest stories based on the author’s field interviews with migrants, criminal operatives, and officials, both honest and corrupt. Bensman’s field research is unmatched; in compiling this book, the author dodged death threats and criminal gangs in his travels to the boondocks across Mexico and Central America. Overrun is not “anti-immigrant.” Recounting his own family’s immigration history, Bensman writes with humanity about the many migrants he interviewed. But he also understands that concentrating on individual human dramas, as establishment journalists always do, obscures the true national tragedy: the unlawful and reckless federal government actions at the center of these historic events. More than anything, Overrun details the Biden administration’s unprecedented, corrupt mismanagement of our country’s frontier. Government corruption is not just about gaining illicit financial profit; it is also about systematically upending rule of law by neglecting to enforce statutes and regulations, and issuing unlawful executive orders — exactly the strategy Biden officials are using to bypass Congress and force their radical immigration agenda on the nation.)

I would focus on the aforesaid Republicans who have taken the most/biggest adverse actions against me since 2015.) https://thenewamerican.com/us/culture/young-men-lean-right-as-ideological-gap-between-sexes-widens/ (FROM THE ARTICLE: Since the 1970s, the group Monitoring the Future has kept track of where young people fit on the political spectrum. Over the last three years, their survey results have shown that approximately one-fourth of high school senior boys identify as “conservative” or “very conservative.” By contrast, 13 percent of boys surveyed identified as “liberal” or “very liberal.” In other words, nearly twice as many boys in their senior year are conservative than are liberal. This has not always been the case. In past eras, such as the early 2000s, liberal high school boys outnumbered conservatives in Monitoring the Future’s surveys. And during the days of the Jimmy Carter administration, both boys and girls swung left. But the shift of young men to the right is more notable in light of the much more dramatic shift of young women to the left. Per Monitoring the Future’s polling, the percentage of high school senior girls who identify as “liberal” or “very liberal” rose from 19 percent in 2012 to 30 percent in 2022. In last year’s survey, only 12 percent of girls said they were conservative — half the percentage of boys. This suggests a growing ideological gap between the sexes, with men becoming increasingly conservative and women increasingly liberal.)

ILLINOIS REPUBLICAN PARTY — 2020 FLASHBACK: ILGOP State Convention (COMMENT: When is the 2024 Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Convention and where will it be held? Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party platform is conservative. From what I see, there will be tremendous pressure at the 2024 IRP State Convention to water down if not to strike the individual responsibility, traditional marriage and family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, Second Amendment, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and other planks in the IRP platform. I have served as a delegate at IRP State Conventions since 2000. I have always asked to be appointed to serve on IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committees. I served on the IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee in 2008. Only minor changes have been made to the platform since then. I helped fight tremendous efforts to water down the traditional marriage and family plank at the 2016 convention. I hereby officially ask that I be appointed to serve on the 2024 IRP State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee for the 3rd Congressional District.) https://es-la.facebook.com/ilgop/posts/our-state-convention-website-is-live-would-you-like-to-attend-serve-as-a-delegat/10162967178890099/

She stayed home and raised us. She never attended high school. After her husband died suddenly when he was 47 and I was 21, she earned a graduate equivalency diploma and got a job in a dental office. To paint my father as having been filthy rich, my critics/opponents have always stressed that he made enough money so that she could stay home and raise me and my brother. My father never earned more than $50,000/year in today’s dollars. He almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills. He had less money a) because he had brittle type 1 diabetes and had to pay the high cost of insulin and b) because he sent me and my brother on parochial grade schools. He was the first of my ancestors to earn a high school diploma. But because he had diabetes, he never attended college. Because of the aforesaid, I had to work my way through college and I did work my way through college. https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20230825/parents-can-sign-up-for-free-job-search-workshops-with-worknet-dupage
CBS2 — Democrats say “SAT test canceled at three Chicago sites. Imagine studying all summer for a college admission test, only to be told the test is canceled.” My critics/opponents are nasty/vicious. The biggest decisions that I made in my life include a) going to college, b) taking college preparatory courses in high school, c) getting the best ACT score that I could, and d) graduating in the upper 20% of my class. According to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes, the real reason for the aforesaid was my wanting to avoid the Vietnam draft. In my defense, starting while I was in grade school, my outstanding father frequently decried his not having a college degree. He had brittle type 1 diabetes from childhood. Everyone discouraged him from going to college arguing that the stress of trying to get a college degree would kill him. They succeeded in getting him to take stenography courses in high school. The best job that he could get was working in the office of a nasty chemical plant in northeast (downwind) Chicago Heights. He never made more than $50,000/year in today’s dollars. He almost always worked second jobs (playing music, selling hot dogs, delivering eggs) to pay the family’s bills. CITIES 92.9 — This Is the Largest Gunmaker in Illinois – Samuel Stebbins https://www.cities929.com/2023/08/25/this-is-the-largest-gunmaker-in-illinois/ (FROM THE ARTICLE: The United States is the single largest civilian firearm market in the world. A recent Gallup poll found that 45% of Americans have a gun in their home. And many of those households have more than one, as the U.S. is the only country with more privately-owned guns than people. Whether for hunting, target shooting, personal protection, or home defense, consumer demand for firearms in the U.S. fuels a $32.1 billion a year industry. And across the country, companies are cashing in. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives reported that over 13.3 million firearms were manufactured in the U.S. for the domestic market in 2021. (Here is a look at which Americans own the most guns: a survey of all 50 states.) According to the ATF, there are more than 3,200 federally licensed firearm production plants in the U.S., and 43 of them are operating in Illinois. Between them, a total of 647,423 firearms were manufactured in the state in 2021. No company made more firearms in Illinois that year than Springfield Inc. Through a production facility in Geneseo, the company produced a reported 590,750 guns – or 91.2% of all firearms made in the state in 2021.)

Because of that, constructively, for federal employees who are conservative, Republican, White, male, non-veteran, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time, their mandatory retirement age is when they become eligible to retire. My Democrat GAO superiors finally succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” when it expired on September 30, 1997. If I had not taken it by then, I would not have been eligible for regular retirement for another 6 years. They made it very clear that if I did not take their “offer,” they would have made those 6 years a living hell for me. Sen. Tim Scott attacked Illinois, California and New York for allowing late-term abortions. Crime in Chicago came up a few times, including during a discussion about lockdowns during the pandemic. And Ramaswamy twice mentioned the South Side, saying instead of funding Ukraine, the government should help the Chicago neighborhood. Ramaswamy even described himself as “a skinny kid with a funny name.” Hey, that’s Barack Obama’s line! Christie would use the line to attack Ramaswamy on Obama-era policies. Gov. A few take-aways from Illinoisans seated in the arena: Sue Rezin, the Illinois state senator, liked Ron DeSantis’ “common-sense approach” to government, saying, “it demonstrates that he’s able to comprehend and tackle the important issues that are crushing hard-working families and threatening our national security.” Ashvin Lad, an entrepreneur, was “surprised at how little” the other candidates went after DeSantis, instead focusing their attacks on Ramaswamy. (Us, too, Ashvin.) Pat Brady, the former Illinois GOP leader saw Nikki Haley as “the clear choice,” adding, “Trump lite isn’t going to carry the day.” It was a reference to Ramaswamy and DeSantis. And Jim Durkin, the former Illinois House Republican leader: “Christie said what had to be said about Trump — calling him out for saying Putin is a genius and savvy for the invasion.” It prompted boos from the crowd, a reminder that Trump is still an integral part of the GOP, whether he’s on the stage or not. . .Some Chicago Republicans gathered at the Billy Goat Inn on Madison Avenue in Chicago Wednesday night to watch the Republican presidential debate. FORBES — What are you most thankful about concerning your career? For me, it is my not having been born any later than I was. I was born in 1948. Ever-increasingly, since the 1960s, employers have used Affirmative Action, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to not hire, to not retain, and to get rid of those who share my demographics: heterosexual, conservative, White, male, non-veteran, Protestant, German American, and my ancestors have been in America for a long time. I am especially thankful for the IRS manager who promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974. But my Democrat IRS superiors got rid of him. I am especially thankful for the GAO manager who arranged for my transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980 and who finally succeeded in getting me assigned to audits of IRS and promoting me in 1986. DAILY HERALD — FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD WITH A PHOTO OF MCLAUGHLIN: Democrats say “Arlington Heights hires lobbyists on Bears tax-break bill.” According to my critics/opponents, I have always been far too conservative, and because of that, the more that I do to help elect Republican candidates, the more votes that those candidates lose. McGlaughlin ran Roskam’s campaign against Duckworth 2006. According to my critics/opponents, I painted Roskam as being far more conservative than they wanted him to be painted. They cringed that I got 25 homeowners in my precinct to display signs for Roskam. The Department of Housing and Development (HUD) is implementing a new program that would compel any town, city, or county that accepts federal housing grants to “proactively take meaningful actions to overcome patterns of segregation, promote fair housing choice, eliminate disparities in opportunities, and foster inclusive communities free from discrimination.” The program, called Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH), is a reinstatement of HUD’s 2015 AFFH Rule, originally introduced by the Obama administration but repealed in 2020 by the Trump administration, which criticized the policy’s “onerous burden on localities and federal overreach into local housing policy.” Under the Biden policy, “in order to qualify for community development block grant funds, [communities] have to prepare and submit a plan to demonstrate that they are ‘affirmatively furthering fair housing,’” Howard Husock, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and author of “The Poor Side of Town,” a critique of American housing policies, told The Epoch Times. “They will have to pass muster with regulators at HUD, who will review the steps they’re taking and decide whether they measure up.” Among the things that HUD will look for, Mr. Husock said, is if low-income housing “is being built in ‘high-opportunity neighborhoods’; is it being built close to high-performing schools; is close to libraries or supermarkets; with public facilities being located in ways that best serve those of a low income.” According to a statement by HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge, “Hardworking families are blocked from purchasing homes because of the color of their skin.”)

Democrats will kick off action on Wednesday with Governor’s Day and Republicans follow on Thursday. Outside of the fair, the parties will hold meetings in downtown Springfield including the Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association brunch at the Bank of Springfield Center. There, Illinois Democrats will be joined by guest speaker U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nevada, starting at 9 a.m. before heading to the fairgrounds. Republican’s time on the Director’s Lawn will be preceded with several events, among them the Republican County Chairs’ Association president reception on Wednesday before a joint meeting with RCCA and the State Central Committee Thursday morning at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel. For Democrats and Republicans alike, the fair days and meetings provide opportunities to build up its campaign finance war chests heading into 2024. No statewide candidates will be featured in next year’s election, but votes for president, U.S. Congress, the Illinois House of Representatives and a handful of state Senate seats among other local races will take place. The political days fall just more than seven months away from the March primary, but also less than three weeks from when candidates can begin circulating nomination papers. Congressional, state legislature and other local candidates begin this process on Sept. 5. Presidential candidates start on Oct. 27. All candidates have until Dec. 4 to file the papers with the Illinois State Board of Elections. . .Illinois Republicans have their work cut out for them, not holding power in any of the state’s three branches of government in addition to a smaller pool of political backers for major campaign funding. The state fair represents an opportunity for the party to make up ground in the funding battle and later support its candidates come election time. Who the party chooses to back for the White House has not been clear at this point, but it could have to put its weight behind a familiar name. National polls indicate if the presidential election were to take place today, it would be a 2020 rematch of Biden and former President Donald Trump. Already not a popular figure in Illinois, losing the state by more than 15 points in both 2016 and 2020, Trump is coming off his fourth indictment this time for allegedly tinkering with 2020 election results in Georgia. The indictments of the former commander-in-chief have prompted varying responses from GOP lawmakers in the state, some of which have pledged continued support to Trump and others to say move on. U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, R-Oakland, has claimed investigations led by the U.S. Department of Justice into Trump have been politically motivated. “The American people will not tolerate this attack from Biden’s DOJ on our electoral process or our system of justice, where justice is supposed to be blind,” she said in a statement earlier this month. The party’s 2022 gubernatorial candidate, Darren Bailey, rose in prominence among Republicans before the primary thanks in part to an endorsement from the former president. Still, he and other candidates speaking at last year’s fair were mum on Trump and instead focused on what they described as failures by Democrats to control crime and spending. That backing from Trump, in the end, proved in some ways to bite Bailey in the general election where Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker won a second term with comfortable margins.)

Amid a national discussion about race in America in 2020, Columbus came under renewed scrutiny as statues across the U.S. were pulled down and local governments stopped celebrating the holiday in his name. Though Chicago was one of the cities where the monuments were lifted, Lightfoot at first resisted their removal and insisted afterward that the Grant Park statue should eventually return.) — Democrats ever-increasingly promote more abortion. https://www.chicagotribune.com/opinion/commentary/ct-column-republican-miscalculation-abortion-rights-ohio-election-washington-20230814-pzs555ik4zdpxi6ils4o767bsm-story.html

POWERLINE — CONSEQUENCES OF ERODING MERITOCRACY – JOHN HINDERAKER (COMMENT: According to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes, I owe none of my accomplishments in life to meritocracy, but instead I owe all my accomplishments in life to my benefitting tremendously from discrimination against LGBTQers, minorities, females, younger people, veterans, unmarried people, non-Protestants, non-German Americans, and those whose ancestors have not been in America for a long time. In my defense, I stress that neither of my parents attended college, that my father was only the first of my ancestors to earn a high school diploma, that he almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills, that he died suddenly when he was 47 and I was 21, that my mother never attended high school, and that I had to work my way through college.) https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2023/08/consequences-of-eroding-meritocracy.php
