June 25 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— I urge everyone to watch Wheaton’s fireworks Monday evening, July 3, and watch Wheaton’s Independence Day parade on July 4.  For event details,  visit
https://wheatonparkdistrict.com/events/july4/. So far, Peter Roskam for U.S. Congress; Jeanne Ives for Illinois House and Mike Connelly for Illinois Senate; Peter Breen for Illinois House; Bob Berlin for DuPage State’s Attorney; Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, and Tim Whelan for DuPage District 4; James Mendrick for DuPage Sheriff; Karen Wilson for DuPage Judge; and Milton Township Republican Central Committee have entries. This year, for the 12th year in a row, “DuPage Republicans” will help sponsor the parade.  They will be one of the two $2,500 “Star” sponsors and again sponsor the Wheaton high school bands and the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums parade entries and again have a booth at the July 3 fireworks. Outstandingly, again this year Tim Whelan will coordinate Republican use of the booth at the fireworks. This year again, I have delivered flyers to the residences and businesses on the parade route. The flyers list the Republican entries in the parade and the Republicans who helped sponsor entries. Outstandingly, the flyers were printed courtesy of Alpha Graphics. This year, outstandingly, Roger Claar is a $500 contributor, Chris Nybo is a $250 contributor, Phil Suess is a $150 contributor, and Bob Berlin, Peter Breen, Mike Connelly, Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, Gwen Henry, Paul Hinds, Jeanne Ives, Marty Keller, Deanne Mazzochi, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Peter Roskam, Darlene Ruscitti, and Tim Whelan are $100 contributors. Please plan on watching the 22-minute fireworks Monday evening July 3 at Graf Park, and stopping by the DuPage Republicans booth.  Please plan on watching the parade on Tuesday morning July 4 or walking in the parade with one of the Republican entries. If you want to walk with one of the Republican entries, I suggest being at the staging area at Fifth Third Bank on north Main Street at 9:00 AM. – Dave Diersen

Their not urging GAO to settle continues to be used by my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes to hint/imply/argue/shout that the following adverse actions that GAO took against me were justified: forcing me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranking me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, not promoting me beyond GS-13, keeping me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forcing me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.)

https://federalnewsradio.com/commentary/2017/06/where-is-the-federal-workforce-and-why-does-that-matter/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When you look at the map, you can see a couple of things. The first is obvious. There is a large concentration of federal employees in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. In Maryland, for example, the number of federal jobs equals 2.17 percent of the population. It is in the national capital region, so that is to be expected. What may be more surprising is the ratio in middle America, Alaska and Hawaii. In Alaska, the number is 1.48 percent. Other states with high ratios of federal jobs/population are Hawaii (1.55 percent), New Mexico (1.05 percent), Oklahoma (0.97 percent), South Dakota (0.96 percent) and other states in the center of the country.)

But to do that, residents of those zoning districts must gather valid signatures from 25 percent of their precinct’s registered voters within 90 days; the clock starts when the resident obtains the petition.)

http://time.com/money/4825116/how-much-money-wealthy/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: These days, having $1 million just isn’t “wealthy” enough.  A recent survey of over 1,000 Americans shows the bar has shifted higher. Now you need an average of $2.4 million to be considered a wealthy person in America, according to the survey by Charles Schwab, which surveyed Americans aged 21 to 75. Of course, few people achieve such a milestone. Only about 10% of Americans are worth $1 million or more, according to a 2017 report by investor research firm Spectrem Group. In fact, to be considered wealthy by this new criteria, you’d need to have about 30 times more than the approximately $80,000 net worth of the average U.S. household, according to the most recent data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau.)

June 17 Morning Edtion

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— In 2018, which Republican candidates are going to run for federal, state, and county offices in DuPage County?  Who does Rauner want to run for Attorney General, Comptroller, Secretary of State, and Treasurer?  I urge all of them to have an entry in Wheaton’s 2017 Independence Day Parade. SEE:
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-independence-day-celebration-parade-entry-tickets-31882733113  So far, Bob Berlin for State’s Attorney, Peter Breen for State Representative, Grant Eckhoff for County Board, Jeanne Ives for State Representative, James Mendrick for County Sheriff, Peter Roskam for Congress, and Milton Township Republican Central Committee have entries. This year, for the 12th year in a row, I have sought donations from Republicans so that “DuPage Republicans” can again be one of the two $2,500 “Star” sponsors and again sponsor the Wheaton high school bands and the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums parade entries and again have a booth at the July 3 fireworks.  Outstandingly, again this year Tim Whelan will coordinate Republican use of the booth at the fireworks. This year again, I will hand deliver flyers to the residences and businesses on the parade route that will list the Republican entries in the parade and the Republicans who helped sponsor entries. Outstandingly, the flyers will be printed courtesy of Alpha Graphics. This year, outstandingly, Roger Claar is a $500 contributor, Chris Nybo is a $250 contributor, Phil Suess is a $150 contributor, and Bob Berlin, Peter Breen, Mike Connelly, Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, Gwen Henry, Paul Hinds, Jeanne Ives, Marty Keller, Paula McGowen, Deanne Mazzochi, James Mendrick, Peter Roskam, Darlene Ruscitti, and Tim Whelan are $100 contributors. Please plan on watching the 22-minute fireworks Monday evening July 3 at Graf Park, and stopping the DuPage County Republicans booth.  Please plan on watching the parade on Tuesday morning July 4 or walking in the parade with one of the Republican entries. If you want to walk with one of the Republican entries, I suggest being at the staging area on north Main Street at 9:00 AM.  SEE: https://wheatonparkdistrict.com/events/july4/ – Dave Diersen

— Career-Specific Educations Launch Careers and Keep Companies Competitive  General Assembly CEO Jake Schwartz weighs in on career-bolstering education and why modern employers should prioritize it in their workers. – Paula Andruss  (DIERSEN: My Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates in the federal government always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that the undergraduate and graduate courses that I took a) were not job-related, b) did not help me carry out my job duties, c) were taken by me to get a job in the private sector, and d) were a distraction.  To keep their jobs and to get promoted, my Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates in the federal government focused on getting rid of federal employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Rauner ‘special guest’ at $10,000 Illinois Republican Party fundraiser – Rick Pearson  (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes a) stress that I give little or no money to the Republican National Committee, Illinois Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Milton Township Republican Central Committee or Republican activists, candidates, elected officials, major donors, political consultants, etc. in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Milton Township, DuPage County, Illinois, or America and b) hint/imply/argue/shout that “money is all that matters.”  In my defense, I give the aforesaid a GOPUSA ILLINOIS email each and every morning and each and every evening free of charge and without any advertising. Since 2004, those emails have included links to almost 272,600 articles of interest to Illinois Republicans and information on many upcoming events.  GOPUSA ILLINOIS email subscriptions are worth at least $1,000/year.  I spend about an hour putting the emails together and sending them out for every six articles in the emails, that is, since 2004, I have spent about 45,400 hours doing that, that is, at $100/hour, I have made in-kind donations to the aforesaid worth about $4,543,100.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Illinois Republican Party is holding a Monday night fundraiser featuring all seven members of the state’s GOP delegation to the U.S. House plus what organizers are calling a “special guest” in Gov. Bruce Rauner. The event is called “Cocktails with the Congressmen” and tickets start at $100 per person, with $10,000 required to play “host” at the Rosemont outpost of Gene & Georgetti. Those paying $2,500 or more per person will gain access to a special hourlong reception prior to the general reception cattle call. Along with Rauner, scheduled to attend are Republican U.S. Reps. Peter Roskam of Wheaton, Randy Hultgren of Plano, Adam Kinzinger of Channahon, Rodney Davis of Taylorville, John Shimkus of Collinsville, Darin LaHood of Peoria and Mike Bost of Murphysboro. Rauner has almost singlehandedly revived the Illinois Republican Party as a political force, largely through his own wallet. Rauner and his campaign fund have given the state GOP at least 72 percent of the $42.5 million it has raised since he took office as governor.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/la-fg-venezuela-democracy-2017-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Attacks on news media  In 2007, Chavez refused to renew the broadcasting license of RCTV, the most widely followed anti-government station, forcing it to shut down and sparking nationwide protests. Since then, an estimated 300 independent small-town radio stations have either been shut down or forced to change to government-friendly formats, according to Marcelino Bisbal, a professor at Andres Bello Catholic University. Globovision, the last television station to broadcast anti-government editorials, was forced to sell in 2013 after owners complained of mounting government fines and political harassment. The new owners are businessmen with ties to Maduro. CNN, El Tiempo TV, NTN24 and other Spanish language cable channels that have criticized the government have been banned from broadcasting in Venezuela. Maduro halted TV broadcasts of National Assembly sessions last year after the opposition won majority control. In 2014, the largest daily newspaper, El Universal, was forced to sell to a government-friendly owner group.)

The panel voted without dissent to find the two people violated the law by seeking to influence City Hall action without registering as a lobbyist. Ethics board President William F. Conlon said the individuals would be identified on a city website, but not until later this week after they are notified of the ruling.)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— Former Mariano’s employee sues over fingerprint data – NONA TEPPER  (DIERSEN: To deter/detect potential conflicts of interest, federal employees are required to give their superiors lots of information about their financial assets and debts.  Federal employees should expect that their superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates who want to waste your career and who want to get rid of you will get your financial information and will use that information against you.  My Democrat IRS and GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates talked and acted like they knew exactly what was on my and my wife’s income tax returns, what our incomes were, what are financial and other assets were, what our debts were, that we had no dependents, etc. They talked and acted like they viewed us as being undeservedly selfish rich DINKs (dual income, no kids).  They painted me as being someone who had way too much money, and therefore, a) someone who did not need nor should get pay increases or promotions and b) someone who should take early retirement as soon as it is offered.  They always hinted/implied/argued/shouted a) that instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a poor person in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it so that a poor person could have my job, c) that instead of me, IRS should have hired a poor person in 1971, d) that instead of me, IRS should have promoted poor people in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) that instead of me, GAO should have hired a poor person in 1980, f) that instead of me, GAO should have promoted a poor person in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a poor person could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The plaintiff, Thomas Doporcyk, alleges that “Mariano’s disregards their employees’ statutorily protected privacy rights and unlawfully collects, stores and uses their biometric data,” according to a complaint filed June 9 in Cook County Circuit Court. Mariano’s required Doporcyk to check in and out of work by scanning his fingerprints, according to the suit. Mariano’s requires all Illinois employees, salaried and hourly, to clock in through a fingerprint scanner.)
— Uber’s culture led one Chicago tech firm to boycott it on moral grounds – Bloomberg  (DIERSEN: What is/was the culture where you work/worked?  Sadly, tragically, and unacceptably, despite civil service protections, in most, if not in virtually all government entities, the culture is patronage. Those who move up the ladder the fastest are those who are not only a member of their superiors’ political party, but someone who panders to their superiors, who serves as an operative or as a dupe for their superiors, and who helps their superiors get rid of employees who are members of other political parties.)

CHICAGO BOOTH
— New data: Inequality runs even deeper than previously thought – HOWARD R. — America’s lynching history is now online – Jessica Guynn  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, anti-Trumps hint/imply/argue/shout that if you are a Trump supporter, the longer that your ancestors have been in America, the more that you benefited from their racism, sexism, and bigotry and the more that you should pay the price of Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion.  In my defense, while all my ancestors have been in America since 1850s, they have always been in northeast Illinois.)
