(LETTER TO THE EDITOR: : My family votes for candidates based on honesty, competence and traditional values. We are not hard-partisan voters.

That said, I have to wonder what’s the matter with the Kane County Board Chairman and her Democratic Majority. Is it not enough that faith in God and confidence in our Country’s goodness and strength have been replaced with Fear . . . resulting in more government control over individuals?

Rather than focusing on managing the 1,400 County employees who serve 532,000 Kane County residents, they spend their time discussing at least six (6) different tax hikes, squandering taxpayers’ money, and giving politicians raises.

After you allowed me to serve as your Board Chairman with initial Republican majorities and then an evenly split board, I left the County with budget surpluses and solid reserves.

In addition to those surpluses and reserves, the federal government sent Kane County an extra $200,000,000 of COVID bailout money. But just like the Democrat majorities in Washington and Springfield, the Board is now spending our tax dollars out-of-control:


– $165,000 on a public relations person for the Chairman’s Office on top of all other county department communications employees (that already cost you more than $300,000 a year);


– Contemplating hiring an unnecessary lobbyist at $60-80,000 per year to do their work and the work of 15 state representatives and senators;


– Paying $500,000 in bonuses to government employees without any “eligibility” criteria;

– Considering pay increases for themselves.

With inflation eroding our purchasing power by 8 percent and soaring prices for gas, grocery, utility bills, and mortgage rates, I’m dead set against wasting your hard-earned tax dollars and raising any taxes whatsoever.

It appears that our only effective recourse is to vote these tax-and-spend politicians out in the June 28 Primary and November 8, 2022 General elections.

After all, this is your family’s money.
