(FROM THE ARTICLE: With the third national No Kings protest planned for Saturday, DuPage County Republicans now have an anti-king message of their own: “Vote Out King Pritzker.” The message is one of three set to be displayed on trucks carrying large electronic screens, which DuPage Republican Chair Kevin Coyne says his party will send to protest sites across the county during Saturday’s events. “I think they bring a very important message,” Coyne says in a video posted to Facebook announcing the local GOP’s plan. “I hope they offer some reflection for those attending (No Kings rallies). (Gov.) JB Pritzker is acting more like a king than any elected official in America.” In a phone interview with the Naperville Sun, Coyne said Pritzker has governed like a king by supporting last year’s gas tax increase, by “buying elections” through campaign donations and by being “extremely heavy-handed” with COVID-19 restrictions. “We’ve gone from king Madigan to king Pritzker,” Coyne says in the video, referring to the power held by former Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan and now by Pritzker as governor. “Enough is enough. Vote this guy out in November.” Sending trucks to protests planned in Naperville and elsewhere across the suburbs is the Republican Party’s way of getting its point across — instead of marching or standing on street corners, Coyne said. “We’re not going to have any part of adding to the on-the-ground disruption,” he said. But organizers of No Kings protests don’t see their events as disruption. Reid McCollum, chair of the DuPage County Democrats, said members of his party see the rallies as an important way to speak out against the authoritarian actions of President Donald Trump’s administration. “The reason people are protesting ‘No Kings’ is simple: Donald Trump has acted like one. His corruption, his repeated disregard for the Constitution, his attacks on free speech, his unconstitutional war against Iran, his illegal tariffs and his tolerance for unaccountable masked federal enforcement all reflect the behavior of someone who thinks he is above the law,” McCollum said. “That is not democracy, and people in DuPage County understand the difference.” Despite Republicans’ criticisms of Pritzker, the governor continues to find support from local Democrats, including Dianne McGuire of Indivisible Naperville, one of the organizations planning Naperville’s No Kings event. The rally is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Rotary Hill, and Coyne says his party’s message trucks will be sure to drive by. “The American people do not want the authoritarian approach by Donald Trump,” McGuire said. “In contrast, Illinoisans have elected and reelected Gov. Pritzker in real landslide elections because he leads through hope, rather than fear.”)

— How bad are your demographics? As Democrats ever-increasingly take over Illinois, the following demographics are ever-increasingly bad for Republicans: conservative, White, male, older, non-poor, married, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time. At the Democrat No Kings protest I saw yesterday, most protestors were minority, female, and/or younger. About a third of the chants I heard were in Spanish. – Dave Diersen

— As Democrats ever-increasingly take over Illinois, how will Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders respond? Democrat leaders want them a) to officially dump the personal responsibility, traditional marriage and family, right to life, immigration, anti-vice, Second Amendment, and equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) planks in the Republican Party platform, b) to officially give more and more and more preference to those who have demographics that vote for Democrats: liberal/moderate, minority, female, younger, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time, and c) to officially dump those who have demographics that vote for Republicans: conservative, White, male, older, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time. – Dave Diersen

— Are a Republican? Do you plan on staying in Illinois? If you do, and if you are going to stay Republican, what is your plan for dealing with the ever-increasing hatred against Republicans that Illinois Democrat leaders ever-increasingly promote against Republicans? Anticipate/expect that Illinois Democrat leaders will ever-increasingly make it difficult/impossible for Republicans in Illinois a) to get an education in Illinois, b) to earn a living in Illinois, c) to buy things in Illinois, d) to own things in Illinois, and e) to do things in Illinois. Soon, all elected officials in Illinois will be Democrats who hate Republicans. They can and they will make life for Republicans in Illinois miserable if not intolerable. Most importantly, if you are going to stay, you should assess the vulnerability of your income. Thankfully, it would be difficult/impossible for Illinois Democrat leaders to reduce/eliminate my Civil Service Retirement System pension, my and my wife’s Social Security, our Medicare, and our 72% federal health insurance subsidy. But I am sure that Duckworth, Durbin, and Ramirez are working on that. Next, you should assess the vulnerability of your home and your retirement savings. Anticipate/expect that if you are Republican, Illinois Democrat leaders will make you pay reparations. – Dave Diersen

— I should write a book that compares and contrasts how DuPage County Republican Central Committee (DCRCC) leaders have treated incoming Democrats since 1978 with how DuPage County Democrat leaders are treating remaining DuPage County Republicans since 1978. Initially, DCRCC leaders welcomed incoming Democrats with open arms. Initially, many is not most incoming Democrats became Republicans. However, incoming Democrats became ever-increasingly more liberal. To convert them to being Republicans, DCRCC leaders wrongly ever-increasingly a) dumped planks in the Republican Party platform, including its personal responsibility, traditional marriage and family, right to life, immigration, anti-vice, Second Amendment, and equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) planks, b) gave more and more and more preference to those who have demographics that vote for Democrats: liberal/moderate, minority, female, younger, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time, and c) dumped those who have demographics that vote for Republicans: conservative, White, male, older, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time. In my book, I would focus on how DCRCC leaders have ever-increasingly dumped me. I would focus on those DCRCC leaders who have taken the most/biggest adverse actions against me since 2000. – Dave Diersen

DAILY SIGNAL
— The New Democratic Party
https://www.dailysignal.com/2026/03/24/victor-davis-hanson-the-new-democratic-party/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For all practical purposes, there is no longer a Democratic Party, at least as we’ve known it for 50 to 100 years. What we’re witnessing in Washington as the opposition under Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries is something that we haven’t really seen before. It is a full-blown Socialist Revolutionary Party. The players of that party that are running things are not even Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries. They’re people like [outgoing] Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. They’re people like Mr. [James] Talarico in Texas, Mr. [Zohran] Mamdani. Elizabeth Warren. The socialist Bernie Sanders, etc., etc. They’re radical leftists. And they believe in a mandated equality of result, perpetuated or completed by radically high taxes from people who have been successful and to transfer that money to people who have been unsuccessful. Not because of any fault of their own or any gift or success of the wealthy, but because of oppression. And they’ve created a Marxist binary in the world. There’s 70%, the so-called white population, because they’ve confused and conflated race with class. That is the oppressor class. And the 30% that is the oppressed class. And the victimized class feels that they have legitimate grievances against the other 70% for not having what they do. And therefore, the Democratic Party steps in and says that we will mandate an equality of result. That is the agenda. And you can see it on all fronts. If people are poor, they want to come to the United States, then open the border. They should have a right to do that. And when they come to the United States, they can become better off than they were in Mexico or El Salvador or the Caribbean because they’re going to get entitlements. And those entitlements will be costly and expensive, fraud-ridden, as we’ve seen in California and Minnesota. And that will require people to pay their, quote, fair share and higher taxes. Which is a good in itself. Not just because the money is transferred to the people who don’t have it through entitlements, but more importantly, you’re emasculating people who “didn’t earn that.” “You didn’t build that,” as Elizabeth Warren said. So that’s what the party is. You can see it on the border. You can see it with crime. They believe that crime is committed not by individuals who break existing laws, but by society, which created the conditions for crime. And so, therefore, we see no-cash bail, or we see somebody who commits a heinous crime, and they’re let out. They’re either not jailed. They’re not indicted. They’re not convicted, and they’re not incarcerated, because of, I guess we would call it, critical legal theory. Behind all of it, though, is diversity, equity, and inclusion. And this is what they’ve had a problem with because when the American public sees this, and they said, you’ve created a victim class that you represent, and then you’ve demonized the other 70% that are so-called white, and people are saying, well, you’re on the wrong side of percentages. Unless you can convince, as happened with Barack Obama’s candidacy, to get more white people to vote for him than maybe voted for Romney or John McCain. Or maybe more white people voted for Obama than they did for John Kerry, four years earlier. But the point is that it has nothing to do with class. So, one of the problems that democratic socialists, or whatever these people call themselves, have is Mamdani’s a multimillionaire. His parents are multimillionaires. When he says he wants to go after white neighborhoods for equity, the wealthiest minority in the United States, today, ethnic minority, is Mamdani. It’s Indian Americans. Americans of Indian heritage. And the next six or seven or eight ethnic groups are not white. And there is no direct relationship anymore between your skin color and your class status or your income. And so, if that’s not true, when you go after these people, then you are basically an out-and-out racist because they haven’t done anything to you. And the greatest number of people who are poor in the United States remain white. Let’s just ask ourselves what happened to the Democratic Party. If we were to look at the ’92 and ’96 agendas at the Democratic Convention, and those were written by Doug Schoen and Mark Penn. It’s pretty much a Republican agenda now. It was closed borders. Legal-only immigration. Strong support for unions. Trying juveniles who commit violent crimes as adults. Strong national defense. Balanced budget, achieved for four years under Bill Clinton, and with the help of Newt Gingrich. That’s all out the window. Anybody in the Democratic Party who espouses those views today would be considered a heretic or worse. So between the Clinton phenomenon of ’92 to 2000, what happened? It’d be easy to say Barack Obama happened. That he ginned up latent racial tensions and grievances and used them for political purposes to get himself elected and reelected. That’s true. But there were larger cosmic forces that created a Barack Obama. And the first, of course, was open borders. We have now 53 million people. It’s the largest in the history of the United States. In numbers, 16.2% of the United States resident population was not born in the United States. Some of them are naturalized citizens, but as we’ve seen this last two weeks, whether it was the Old Dominion shooting or the attack on the synagogue or the IEDs that were thrown out in front of the New York governor’s mansion or the shooting in Austin, we have a problem with naturalized citizens. They do not assimilate, acculturate or integrate in the way that they used to under the melting pot. And they formed constituencies for the Democratic Party. And they are told that you came here—and it doesn’t really matter under what auspices—if you’re part of the 53 million, and there’s probably 30 million, with the Biden additions that came illegally, you still had a right. We don’t believe in borders, and therefore, you come here. We will provide the entitlements. And we will water down voting laws. No voter ID, even though 70% of the American people want them. And you will be either a present or a future constituency. So that was a big change. Demography is destiny, they told us. The new Democrat majority, they told us and that came true. That was a big factor in their rise. The second thing was globalization. Globalization created two societies in the United States. The East Coast, from Massachusetts down to the Carolinas, looked out at the EU, and the West Coast, from Seattle to San Diego, looked out at Asia, the Tigers, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and, of course, mainland China. And people who had particular skills that were globalized, and here they were in tech, insurance, investment, law, media, academia. They found that their audience, their constituency, was expanded from 300 million, let’s say, 10 years ago, maybe 340 million now, to seven billion. But for those who mined or farmed or assembled or manufactured, they were outsourced offshore, or they couldn’t keep up with cheap imports. This is what got Donald Trump elected, but it also explains the new Democratic Party. They used to rail about the importance of the middle class. They dropped that. That was the meme of Donald Trump. They found that by supporting the 30% DEI agenda and the globalized elite, they had a new constituency. And that was vast amounts of money. All of Silicon Valley and its $9 trillion in market capitalization, until recently, was put at the service of the Democratic Party. So this party radicalized in two fashions. You brought in a lot of poor people, and you re-energized people of color to say that your problems were not your own, but they were committed by the deplorables, the irredeemables, the clingers, the chumps, the dregs, the garbage. And then you had the money to outspend your Republican candidates in vast numbers. And more importantly, with the rise of left-wing big tech and the left-wing corporate boardroom and the left-wing academics, you could control institutions. The medium is the message. So ABC, NBC, NPR, social media, Facebook, the old Twitter, you name it. There was a popular culture, professional sports. There was a monopoly on left-wing knowledge, and that was very, very valuable. And finally, the old idea of integration, intermarriage, assimilation, the melting pot, that was not conducive to this new Socialist Democratic Party. They said, why would we bring in people who wanted to be American and wanted to identify essentially as American and only incidentally, in their former country? We saw what happened, the Democrats said, in 1956 when we let in the Hungarians, anti-communist, they came over here. They assimilated as Americans. They became very, very conservative voters. We saw what happened in 1959 to 1980 when we let in all of these Cubans, who had been driven out by communism. They were very patriotic Americans. They assimilated, and they were a constituency that we didn’t like. So, what we want to do is refabricate the immigration. Let in a lot of people, but not from particular countries that would mean they were successful, they had skills. We don’t want anybody from Europe. We don’t want anybody from Australia or the former British Commonwealth, such as New Zealand. We don’t want anybody coming in here who is anti-communist as a refugee. We want people who are poor and are accustomed to socialist countries and will come here and want more socialist benefits. That’s South America, Latin America, Africa, large parts of Asia. And they will be the constituency that allows us to have an unpopular message that existing Americans have never liked and do not like at all. And the result was the Democrats can’t win elections with open, transparent balloting, one-day balloting, and they know it. But if you take over the institutions and you use this globalized financial power and you appeal to very, very wealthy people’s sense of noblesse oblige or guilt or whatever strategy you use, and you combine that with a mass of very poor people who came in very recently, many under illegal circumstances, you have a constituency that required one thing. You had to give up the white middle working class. The union class that you used to champion. The Hubert Humphrey, John F. Kennedy, Harry Truman class. You despise those people. And we know that because you didn’t just give up on them and accept a globalized agenda and an expanded welfare state, but you created a vocabulary of disparagement. As I said earlier, these were the clingers. These were the people who had no teeth in their head. These were the people who Peter Strzok, Lisa Page texted about smelling up Walmart. All this disparagement for a class of people you despised, and I don’t think you’re going to win them back. But just to finish, there is no Democratic Party. There’s a Socialist Party. But it’s a very weird Socialist Party. It’s a pyramiddle party with a lot of very wealthy, globalized elites that run things at the top. Nothing in the middle of the pyramid. And then an expansive big base of poor people, of immigrants, and of people who claim that they identify mostly in their diversity, equity, inclusion person, and not necessarily as a full-fledged American.)

— A proposal would cap Social Security at $100,000 for couples. Will it fly? DD: My critics/opponents are furious that I get both a Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension and Social Security. In my defense, a) while I worked for the Post Office for almost 3 years, for IRS for almost 9 years, and for GAO for almost 18 years, I paid 7% of my salary into CSRS and b) while I washed dishes, cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, pumped gasoline, delivered mail, worked on an automotive assemble line, and sold tires, automotive services, and pumped more gasoline for 10 years, I paid into Social Security.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2026/03/25/social-security-cap-proposal/89315322007/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A Washington think tank has proposed capping annual Social Security benefits at $100,000 for couples as a way to shrink a looming deficit in the retirement trust fund. The idea might sound reasonable enough: Only the wealthiest Americans can collect $100,000 a year from Social Security, a federal program that was meant to ease poverty, not pad wealth. But the “Six Figure Limit” idea has drawn swift rebukes from retirement advocates, who see any cap or cut in Social Security benefits as a slippery slope. The March 24 paper comes from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a centrist, nonpartisan think tank in the nation’s capital. It suggests a $100,000 cap on the total annual benefit for a couple at full retirement age and a $50,000 limit for a single retiree starting this year.)
— Women over 40 becoming first-time moms. DD: My wife and I did not get married until I was 29 and she was 27. We erroneously believed that we would not have fertility problems, but both of us had major fertility problems. To get rid of me, my Democrat GAO superiors hinted/implied/shouted that I lied about our major fertility problems. They stressed that we did not try IVF even though my wife’s health insurance covered it. They stressed that we did not adopt or become foster parents. They viciously demonized, denigrated, and condemned us as being disgusting filthy rich DINKs. They decried the tremendous amount of time and money that they spent raising their children. They decried that their spouses had little or no income. They crowed that they got married when they were young. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that if my wife and I had children, I would not have been able to a) pass the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, b) afford to take a $23,699/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980, c) earn a master’s degree in accounting in 1980, d) pass the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, e) become a licensed CPA in 1981, f) get promoted in 1986, g) etc. According to them, if we had children, we would not have been able a) go on four vacations a year after my wife’s business trips to luxury resorts across America 1978-1992, b) to have a home built in Wheaton in 1984, c) to buy collector cars in 1989 and 1994, d) etc. They would not have used our not having children against me if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran.

— Vietnam War Veterans Day is observed on March 29 of each year, marking the day in 1973 when our remaining combat troops left Vietnam. While it recognizes those 2.7 million Americans who served in the Vietnam War, the focus is primarily on the 58,220 brave souls who lost their lives in service to their country. DD: My avoiding the Vietnam War draft was a very big mistake. My Democrat superiors in the federal government (Post Office 1966-1969, IRS 1971-1980, and GAO 1980-1997) who were veterans used my using four student draft deferments and a financial hardship draft deferment against me viciously. They blamed Republicans for America losing the war and they especially blamed Republicans like me who were 1-A for the draft. They took many big adverse actions against me. Further, they hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I was an unmitigated disgusting coward because I probably would not have been sent into combat because I could not run because I had a bone disease, because my eyesight could not be corrected to 20/20, and because I had partial red/green color blindness.

— President Trump Is One of Many People Skipping CPAC This Year. DD: I not only attended many CPACs, I helped sponsor many of them, but not recently. I became increasingly disappointed with their moving toward Libertarianism. I should write a book about my anti-conservative critics/opponents who used my promoting CPACs against me the most. I would focus on past and present leaders of the Illinois Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Milton Township Republican Organization, Illinois Center Right Coalition, and TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois.
https://pjmedia.com/stephen-kruiser/2026/03/25/the-morning-briefing-president-trump-is-one-of-many-people-skipping-cpac-this-year-n4951057
(FROM THE ARTICLE: CPAC was, for a long time, a grand affair. Every movement conservative either went, or wanted to go. The average attendance was around 10,000 every year. The Kruiser Kabana was a party that I hosted at conferences and it was CPAC that gave it semi-legendary status. After the Tea Party conferences went away (the Koch brothers got tired of spending their money on Republicans after Mitt Romney), CPAC was the one gathering where we could all see each other. For most of the conference’s history, its organizer the American Conservative Union held it in or near Washington, D.C. That made it more convenient for prominent Beltway Republicans to attend. Post-COVID, the ACU flirted with Florida, which was where I last attended it in 2022. I’m not sure how the conference went, but my good friend and partner in thought crime Stephen Green and I made the resort bar run out of IPAs. It was after that when the people I knew who had gone to CPAC for 10 years or more stopped attending. I have a few friends who just love the event and would probably still go if it were being held in a mobile home in the middle of nowhere, but the stories I was hearing from some of them were pretty sad. The conference has again fled the D.C. area and is being held in Texas this year. I’m sure that I know some of the attendees, but this year’s event has been so off the radar that both VodkaPundit and I thought it had already happened. The reason I went through all of this wasn’t to bash CPAC — we need all the friendlies we can get — but to get across the point that it may not be as mighty or have the cachet that it once did. This brings me to the hysterical conversation around President Trump’s decision to not attend CPAC for the first time in a decade. Lefties are having a field day with it.)

— Florida flip sends chills through Illinois GOP
https://www.politico.com/newsletters/illinois-playbook/2026/03/26/florida-flip-sends-chills-through-illinois-gop-00845831
(FROM THE NEWSLETTER: NOT JUST A FLUKE: Illinois Republicans are starting to read the tea leaves — and they don’t exactly like what they’re seeing. As Democrats continue to overperform in legislative races across the country, GOP operatives here are wondering if the same trends could spell trouble closer to home come November. Florida wake-up call: The latest jolt came out of Florida, where a Republican-held district that includes Mar-a-Lago flipped to Democrats. That result is reverberating well beyond the Sunshine State, serving as a wake-up call for Republicans nationwide — and in Republican areas of Illinois. Jon Zahm, a GOP strategist, worries that voter participation in last week’s primary is an early indicator of what could happen in November. In last week’s Illinois primary, Democrats voted two-to-one in Kane and DuPage counties, he said, and “that’s a big gap to overcome.” Global ripple effect: Zahm also sees world issues bleeding into local races. “The longer the war [in Iran] goes on, the more difficult it is for Republicans. With the war comes the increased gas prices, which affects transportation, which affects grocery prices,” he said in an interview. Then there’s the Trump factor: Another Republican political strategist granted anonymity to speak freely worries that if President Donald Trump continues to “double down” on issues tied to the war and immigration enforcement, the party risks alienating swing voters and even its base. That delicate balancing act is already playing out on the campaign trail. During his primary night speech, Darren Bailey acknowledged the tightrope candidates are walking. “There are things I agree with Donald Trump about, and there are things that I disagree with him about. I am my own man,” Bailey said. He added that he would support Trump when “he’s right,” while also shifting focus to broadly appealing economic populist ideas like the “no tax on tips” movement — an effort to connect with voters beyond Trump’s core base. There’s optimism, too: “Things are going to twist and turn dozens of more times. In November, the political landscape and issues will look completely different,” said Rhonda Belford, chair of the Hardin County Republican Central Committee. Still, she acknowledged, Republican voters will likely stay focused on the economy. “People are very mindful of gas prices. Everybody’s got their eye on that. But I think that is going to turn around.” Sounds familiar: Myles Nelson, another GOP consultant, cautions that midterms usually hurt the party in the White House. But he believes candidates in rural areas can still do well if they focus on “kitchen table issues that families care about.”)

I became an ICPAS member in 1979 when I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt and I served on ICPAS’s membership committee 1989-1998. I became an IIA member when I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981. I became an AGA member in 1979, I served on its Chicago Chapter Executive Committee 1983-1996, and I became a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994. I became a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996. I became a Forensic Accountant in 1997. In my defense the leaders and member of the aforesaid organizations were overwhelmingly Democrats. Further, the Democrats who ran GAO dominated AGA. – Dave Diersen

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/conservative-media-figures-lose-court-bid-for-wa-house-press-passes/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Democratic-controlled Washington House of Representatives early this year declined to issue press credentials that would have granted the three access to parts of the Capitol in Olympia that are off-limits to the general public. The body said they were not bona fide journalists because they are participants in the political arena — advocating for certain agendas and hosting or speaking at rallies. The three asked the court for an emergency temporary restraining order that would force the House to give them passes in the closing days of the session. The group includes Ari Hoffman, host of “The Ari Hoffman Show” on conservative Seattle talk radio station KVI-AM; Brandi Kruse, host of the podcast “unDivided”; and Jonathan Choe, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, a conservative think tank. Their lawyer, Jackson Maynard, told U.S. District Judge David Estudillo on Monday that the process used to deny them press credentials was vague and arbitrarily applied, violating their due-process rights, and withholding access because of they disagree with the lawmakers’ political views violates their constitutional rights of free speech and free press. “In the remaining 72 hours of the legislative session, the House will potentially be wrestling with a multibillion-dollar budget and other legislation of great importance,” Maynard told the judge Monday. “My clients are the eyes and ears of the people in the legislative process. Their voices and opinions should not be excluded.” In his ruling, Estudillo said the group failed to show that they were denied passes because of their political affiliations — which would be a violation of their First Amendment rights — and failed to show that the process was arbitrary, which would have violated their due process rights. “The court acknowledges that both parties have legitimate interests at stake here,” Estudillo said in his order. But denying the temporary restraining order is appropriate because the three failed to show that they are likely to succeed on their free press or due process claims, and the “House has a substantial interest in ensuring the reporters it permits to access the House floor meet the credential standards promulgated so the House may ‘debate and pass laws without interruption or lobbying in that space.’” Maynard said they’re not giving up. “We will continue to litigate this case until we either prevail or exercise every viable legal option,” he said in an email. “Our goal is to get our clients the access they are entitled to by the constitution as members of the press.” Jessica Goldman, the lawyer for the House, said they were confident that any further litigation would end with the same conclusion — that the press pass policy complies with the constitution and protects the lawmakers’ working space. Legislatures across the country have grappled with how to address the changing media landscape. TV, radio and newspaper reporters are being joined by podcasters and other user-generated content producers. Conservative influencers have made regular appearances at news conferences and events hosted by the Trump administration. Goldman told Estudillo that the group was not denied passes because of their viewpoints but because they were activists for political causes, not independent monitors. “It’s also important to understand that the plaintiffs here were not just attending an event, which obviously journalists do all the time,” Goldman said. “They were the leaders of these events that they attended. They were their keynote speakers. They have attached their names and their fame and notoriety to trying to get these … laws passed by the legislature.” For example, besides being a talk radio host, Hoffman is also is involved with Let’s Go Washington, a political action committee that campaigns for initiatives. Kruse is also involved in that group, as well as the group Future 42, where she criticizes Democratic policymakers and advocates for or against proposed bills. Choe requested the press pass as a representative of “Discovery Institute/Frontlines TPUSA.” Discovery is a think tank, and Turning Point USA says its “mission is to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government,” lawyers said in their filing. The Washington State Capitol Correspondents Association guidelines for granting press passes says the person must be “a bona fide journalist” and there must be a line “between professional journalism and political or policy work.” The association shifted the credentialing process to the Legislature after the three threatened a lawsuit in 2025. The Senate eventually issued the passes, but the House took over the process and denied the pass requests. The criteria for granting press credentials “are guided by the principle that House floor access should be given to press who are independent observers and monitors, not participants with a stake in the proceedings, no matter their political viewpoints,” Goldman said in a court filing. Other legislatures have faced similar questions. Journalist Bryan Schott covered the Utah Legislature for years with a press pass, but was denied a credential after founding the news website Utah Political Watch. The legislature’s policy excluded “blogs, independent or other freelance journalists.” He sued but his case was dismissed. Iowa Senate Republican lawmakers changed their policy of letting reporters on the Senate floor in 2022, arguing they couldn’t determine who should get media credentials at a time when there are new media outlets.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Back in the 1980s, stack-ranking employees was seen as a state-of-the-art management practice. CEOs like Jack Welch at GE divided employees into three distinct segments: the top 20% of performers, the middle 70%, and the bottom 10%. Those at the bottom would be forced out to make room for new blood. The strange thing about stack ranking is that it’s long been shown to be ineffective and, in many cases, to undermine performance. The problem is that stack ranking doesn’t create a meritocracy. It creates a political system. The winners tend to be those most skilled at claiming credit, shifting blame, and building alliances. Yet still, the practice persists.)

— According to my critics/opponents, the federal government grossly overpaid me. In my defense, see Google AI below. Back when I was 49 in 1997, GAO paid me $154,682/year (GS-13 Step 10) in today’s dollars. But that was not until after I had worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, earned a bachelor’s degree (management) when I was 21, earned master’s degrees in business, accounting, and finance when I was 27, 31, and 48, earned professional certifications in accounting, internal auditing, fraud examination, government financial management, financial services auditing, and forensic accounting when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and earned a job-related professional license (CPA) when I was 32. In today’s dollars, my IRS salary was $56,409/year (GS-7) when I was 22 in 1971, $68,999/year (GS-9) when I was 23, $83,482/year (GS-11) when I was 24, $100,059/year (GS-12) when I was 25, and $113,402/year (GS-12 Step 5) when I was 31. My GAO salary was $89,703/year (GS-9 Step 10) when I was 31 and $118,984/year (GS-13) when I was 32. REAL CLEAR DEFENSE
— Where Have All the Young Men Gone? DD: Did you enlist? What motivated you to get a college degree? My father often decried his not having a college degree. Because of that and because my parents lacked money, when I was a freshman and sophomore at Crete-Monee High School 1962-1964, my plan was to enlist and use the GI Bill to get a college degree. But one of my high school friends suggested that I consider working my way through college because I was taking college preparatory classes and I was in the upper 20% of my class. Then, another high school friend provided me with a model: get accepted by UIC and commute to/from classes there from my parents’ home in Crete. At the start of my junior year, got a job washing dishes for the minimum wage in the basement of the SS Kresge in Chicago Heights. To get to/from that job and my parents’ home, I bought a 6-year-old car with money I had earned/saved doing yard work and delivering newspapers. I got an ACT score of 24 and I got accepted by UIC. Just before I graduated in June of 1966, I bought a new 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint, a poor man’s GTO, with money I had earned/saved washing dishes. In December of 1967, I sold that Pontiac and bought a new 1968 Oldsmobile 442 with the money I had earned/saved delivering mail for the Park Forest Post Office. In December of 1968, I sold that Oldsmobile, I bought a new 1969 Dodge Charger SE, and I transferred to NIU. In August of 1970, I graduated debt-free from NIU with a bachelor’s degree in management and owning that Charger. According to my critics/opponents, the real reason why I did the aforesaid was to avoid the Vietnam War draft. Admittedly, as the war dragged on, war protesters ever-increasingly demonized, denigrated, and condemned a) those who enlisted and b) those who did not avoid the draft. My father died suddenly in October of 1969. I applied for a financial hardship draft deferment to help support my mother and brother. But potential employers saw me as being draft bait, they did not believe my application would be approved. Consequently, I accepted the only job offer that I got. It was for a job that did not really require a college degree. But then, my application was approved and because my lottery number was over 100, I was no longer subject to the draft. What if I had tried to enlist? I could not run because I had a bone disease. My eyesight could not be corrected to 20/20. I had partial red/green color blindness.
https://www.realcleardefense.com/articles/2026/03/23/where_have_all_the_young_men_gone_1171913.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When Richard Nixon ended the draft in January 1973, America lost something vital to its soul. The quality of our military has not suffered. We have a splendid volunteer force defending our country and freedom right now. It’s the best educated, best trained, and best equipped force we have ever had. They are not the problem. The problem is that they represent only a very small fraction of America. For the first time in our history, the overwhelming majority of American families not only do not have a member in service, but they also don’t even know any family that does. 1973 was not the first time conscription was canceled. For the record, there was no national conscription before the Civil War…not for want of trying. General George Washington was frustrated with the unsoldierly quality of state militias during the Revolutionary War, and as president tried to register all males for military service. Congress blocked him. Conscription has been on-again-off-again our entire history to this day. So, Nixon’s draft cancellation cannot really be blamed for the decay of American culture. The problem was that our culture was already turning into a fetid sea, and the draft was a lifeboat. Besides shared contribution, experience and sacrifice, what we lost by ending the draft was character. Our country is in crisis, and most of our nation’s problems can be traced to the lack of character attributes that should be taught by mothers and fathers, and which are certainly instilled through military service: self-discipline, personal accountability, responsibility, self-reliance, selflessness, integrity, respect, and patriotism. Perhaps the greatest of these is discipline, from which all else must surely flow. Ask a strapping young man knocking about in life trying to find himself today, “Have you considered the military?” “Oh, no!” is a common response, “I couldn’t stand all that discipline.” That is sad, and a sad commentary on what we have allowed to happen to our great country. “Country” is not synonymous with “nation.” Right now, the United States is Balkanizing itself, and worse, sinking into tribalism. Common values build a nation. The Kurds are a nation who have never had a country. The Jews are a nation that only recovered their country after 2000 years of exile, but half of whom are still spread around the world. The nationhood of both derives from shared values and history—not from politics, race, or regionalism. Of course, it’s more complex, but shared values are the core of nationhood. The United States of America has lost that. The draft could bring it back. “The Marine Corps builds men.” And women. So do the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force. More than instilling character, the military exposes young people to milieus that he or she might never otherwise encounter. To use the current politically correct term “diversity:” the military is comprised of every race, religion, culture, ethnicity, economic class, education and experience that make up this great country coming together and working together on a level playing field. And building a national common denominator of shared experience and, yes, character traits. Bottom line, it is the military strength of our country that keeps us free, and that is a personal responsibility. Writing of “the necessity of obliging every citizen to be a soldier,” Thomas Jefferson said in a letter to James Monroe in 1813, “We must train…our citizens, and make military instruction a regular part of collegiate education. We can never be safe until this is done,” Restoring universal service would also put us on the road to restoring the nobility of character that Alexis de Tocqueville so admired in Americans in 1831. Mandatory non-military community service, as suggested by some, is a nice idea, but it is no substitute for Jefferson’s vision.)

— Experience. DD: For Democrats, the federal government exists to hire, retain, and promote Democrats. While I worked for the Democrats who ran the federal government for almost 30 years, they ever-increasingly made it clear that to keep your job, you not only had to be a Democrat, you had to be a minority, female, younger, and/or veteran. As I got older, they ever-increasingly wasted what I had learned earning a job-related bachelor’s degree, three job-related master’s degrees, six job-related professional certifications, and job-related professional license. As I got older, they took ever-increasingly bigger adverse actions to get rid of me culminating in their forcing me to retire when I was 49 in 1997.

— DD: ACCORDING TO BREITBART: Cesar Chavez opposed illegal immigration every bit as much as Donald J. Trump. Chávez understood that illegal aliens undermined the wages of legal migrant workers and their union bargaining power. Cesar Chavez was so opposed to illegal immigration that, just like Minuteman Project of 2004, which was widely smeared in the legacy media as racist, Chavez put together his own militia to stop illegals from crossing the border. There are credible reports that violence was used as an example to others. To form his United Farmworkers Union (UFW), it was Chavez versus the growers, and for obvious reasons, the growers loved the open border. For just as obvious reasons, Chavez did not. — There are far too many wrong reasons to vote for candidates. Far too many vote for Democrat and RINO candidates a) because they want to punish Trump, b) because the candidate hints/implies/argues/shouts that if elected, they will use government to give more preference to those who share the voter’s demographics and/or b) because the candidate and/or their spouse share the voter’s demographics. To get elected, ever-increasingly, Democrat and RINO candidates promise to use government to give more preference to voters who are Trump-haters, liberal/moderate, minority, female, younger, non-rich, unmarried, LGBTQ, non-Protestant, non-German American, have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time, and/or are in America illegally. To get elected, ever-increasingly, Democrat and RINO candidates promise to use government to promote more hatred against Trump, dependency on government and charity, LGBTQ, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, vices, gun control, and Affirmative Acton and DEI, that is, race and gender based preference giving, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, religious discrimination, and national origin discrimination. According to Google AI: Political analysts and ethicists point to several “wrong” or irrational reasons for casting a vote, generally defined as those that do not involve a critical assessment of a candidate’s qualifications, policies, or potential to contribute to the common good. Common examples of potentially poor reasons to vote for a candidate include: Party Loyalty Over Substance: Voting purely along party lines without examining the specific candidate’s platform or character, driven by a belief that it is wrong to abandon one’s party. Single-Issue Voting: Supporting or opposing a candidate based solely on their position on one specific issue, without weighing the candidate’s stance on a range of other important matters. Candidate’s Appearance or Charisma: Focusing on superficial traits like a candidate’s looks, how they speak, or their “celebrity” status, rather than their policy proposals or governing ability. One historical example cited is an elector in 1852 who objected to a candidate purely because “he wears mustachios”. Unrealistic or Impossible Promises: Being swayed by grand but unfeasible promises, such as instantly lowering grocery prices or ending a war overnight, without scrutinizing the practical means of achieving them. Fear and Prejudice: Allowing fear of an opposing group (e.g., immigrants, different religious groups, other political parties) to dictate a vote, rather than a thoughtful consideration of the candidates’ merits. Voting for “Free Things”: Supporting a candidate purely because they promise government benefits or “free” programs, without considering the economic feasibility or overall impact on society. Ballot Position: Choosing a candidate simply because they are listed higher on the ballot, which studies have shown can influence voters who have not researched the candidates. “Feel-Good” Citizenship: Voting based on prejudices or delusions, which may provide psychological pleasure to the voter but result in supporting policies contrary to their own or the public’s best interests. – Dave Diersen

“Feel-Good” Citizenship: Voting based on prejudices or delusions, which may provide psychological pleasure to the voter but result in supporting policies contrary to their own or the public’s best interests.)

— FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD WITH BIG PICTURE: Why some voters opted out of Tuesday’s primary. DD: How many voted in your precinct? At least 334 or 31% of the 1,086 registered voters voted in my DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 59 in Wheaton. At least 186 (58%) cast Democrat ballots and at least 136 (42%) cast Republican ballots. In Illinois, it is public record that you voted in primaries and which party you cast a ballot for. As Democrat domination of Illinois becomes ever-increasingly absolute, anticipate/expect that because of fear of retaliation from Democrats, fewer and fewer and fewer Republican primary ballots will be cast. Because more and more and more employers in Illinois are Democrat or RINO, a) fewer and fewer and fewer Republicans will be hired and b) more and more and more Republicans will be gotten rid of. I have cast Republican primary ballots since I was 18 in 1966. I worked for the Democrats who ran the federal government 1966-1969 and 1971-1997. They ever-increasingly used my being a Republican against me. They also knew that I was a draft avoider, Protestant, German American, my ancestors had been in America since 1844, I lived in Crete 1948-1972, and I lived in Wheaton since 1978 and they ever-increasingly used that against me. Federal employees who have the aforesaid demographics have no Civil Service protections.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Experts say turnout likely was affected by the number of contested races on the ballot as well as the strength of candidates. . .DuPage County is currently reporting the highest turnout level at 24.6%, which could increase when mail-in stragglers are eventually reported. . .Party line voting data isn’t available just yet, but based on totals from statewide races, it’s clear many more Democratic ballots were pulled in the suburbs than Republican.)

— Pritzker administration opens down payment assistance program to spur homeownership. DD: In today’s dollars, my IRS Revenue Officer salary increased from $56,409/year to $68,999/year when I was 24 in 1972. That enabled me to buy a new townhome in University Park ( https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/774-Sunset-Ct-5-University-Park-IL-60484/5451474_zpid/ ). My critics/opponents were furious about that. They were even more furious than when I bought a new 1972 Corvette in 1971. In my defense, the down payment for the townhome came from what I had earned working for IRS for 15 months and for a Firestone Store part-time for 18 months and full-time for 7 months before that and half of the money for the Corvette came from an insurance settlement, the rest was a loan. According to my critics/opponents, I would not have been able to buy that Corvette or that townhome a) if I had not avoided the Vietnam War draft and b) if I had not been grossly overpaid by IRS. In my defense, I had earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970 and I completed a graduate evening business course at UIC in 1971 and four graduate evening business courses at Loyola in 1972. According to Zillow, the townhome is currently worth $87,100.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A 1986 law makes it illegal for U.S. employers to hire aliens who are not authorized to work. Employers must verify that all their new employees are eligible to work and maintain records showing those employees are employment authorized. ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations Directorate (HSI) engages in “worksite enforcement” to ensure businesses are not employing unauthorized aliens. During worksite enforcement investigations, HSI can secure permission — from either the employer or a federal judge — to enter businesses and find illegal aliens. Traditionally, most immigration arrests occurred in worksites, not on the streets or in communities, and DHS should return to such an enforcement strategy.

I spent many hours a) putting 800 mailing labels and 400 return address labels on 400 DuPage County GOP envelopes, b) putting them into walk order, c) stuffing them with an unmarked sample ballot, a Milton Township Republican Organization (MTRO) Voter Guide, and campaign literature the five candidates who provided MTRO with their literature, d) dividing them into 5 batches, and e) hand-delivering them. I used my photocopier, paper, and ink to copy the unmarked sample ballot 400 times 2-sided back-to-back. If I spent 6 minutes getting each envelope ready, that would be 40 hours. I spent about 15 hours hand-delivering the envelopes, or about 3 hours per batch. – Dave Diersen

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wednesday, the Illinois Senate approved Chris Meister, who is currently leading the Illinois Finance Authority, to be the new auditor. State Sen. Chapin Rose, who serves on the Legislative Audit Commission, said Meister suggested bringing back a deputy director position for the office. “At the end of the day, you’re getting someone with that breadth of government knowledge, extreme financial management experience,” said Rose, R-Mahomet. “And then I believe ultimately we’re also going to pick up, as a bonus, one of our other candidates. And at the end of the day, this body, and the entire General Assembly and frankly, the taxpayers of Illinois will be enormously well served with Mr. Meister at the helm.” The auditor general is responsible for financial audits and compliance examinations of state agencies. The office also performs audits approved by the Legislative Audit Commission. Wednesday, state Sen. Laura Ellman praised Rose’s nomination for Chris Meister to be the new auditor. “This was a once in a 10 year activity,” Ellman, D-Naperville, said of selecting a new auditor general. “Nobody was really good at it. But through that leadership, Senator Rose guided us all through it and really is a bicameral, bipartisan, effort. So I’m excited to see the next Legislative Audit Commission under Auditor General Meister.” After being unanimously approved by the Senate, Senate Joint Resolution 55 was also unanimously approved by the Illinois House Wednesday. The Illinois Auditor General office’s budget is $43.3 million from state taxpayer funds. The auditor’s salary is more than $197,000.)

Because government employees are so widely despised if not hated, once you become a government employee, it is almost impossible to get a job in the private sector. Because federal employees are so widely despised if not hated, once you become a federal employee, it is almost impossible to get a job working for state, county, township, or municipal governments.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Across the nation, public servants carry a burden that few in the private sector ever shoulder: a persistent (and loudly expressed) perception that they do not work hard, they are overpaid, they are lost in the swamp of bureaucracy, or worse, that they simply do not care. These assumptions were amplified on the national stage last year when the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) took an axe to the federal workforce. Rather than collaborate with tenured employees who had firsthand insight on what processes needed to be reworked, DOGE told thousands of workers that their civic efforts were worthless and the country would be better off without them. In doing so, it continued a politically convenient narrative that has since had a chilling effect on state-level jobs and devastating impacts on real people. For instance, just hours after 2,400 Veterans Affairs jobs were dissolved, health care appointments for Illinois veterans were cancelled due to staffing shortages. We should all be concerned that the only efficiency DOGE delivered was deeper mistrust and disregard for those who keep our most fundamental systems running.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— What discourages you from helping elect candidates win elections? For me, since 2000, it has been far too many Republican candidates on ballots in my precinct who have blamed their defeats a) on me, b) on what I have done as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000, and c) on what I did as an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member 2003-2007, the TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman 2005-2012, and the Republican fundraiser for Wheaton Independence Day parades and fireworks 2005-2019. Most commonly, they hint/imply/argue/shout that I painted them as being more conservative than they wanted to be painted, and that caused them to lose. According to them, I am far too conservative, and because of that, the more that I do to help them, the more votes that they will not get. Most commonly, they blame articles that I linked to in my newsletters that they do not like. Because Democrat and RINO leaders have ever-increasingly painted me so negatively, Republican candidates ever-increasingly make it clear that they do not want my help to get elected. Sadly, some Republican candidates on ballots in my precinct have taken averse actions against me to get more votes. Comments? – Dave Diersen

While I worked for the Democrats who ran GAO 1980-1997, they always had strict race and gender quotas to meet for promotions to GS-14. They never promoted me to GS-14 and they would not have promoted me to GS-13 in 1986 if I had not a) earned an MBA in 1976, passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, earned a master’s degree in accounting in 1980, passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, and became a licensed CPA in 1981. DD: While I worked for the Democrats who ran the federal government for almost 30 years, many of my superiors and supervisors were veterans, and at times, most, if not virtually all of them were veterans. They did not blame Republicans for starting the Vietnam War, but they certainly blamed Republicans like me for America losing the Vietnam War. They especially blamed Republicans like me who were 1-A and avoided the Vietnam War draft with deferments. I should write about the many big adverse actions that they took against me. At the Post Office, they disallowed my sick leave requests in 1968 and 1969 and forced me to resign in 1969. At IRS, they disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and never promoted me beyond GS-12. At GAO, they forced me to take a $23,699 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS in 1980, delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance, and forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997.

Key aspects of the training program include: Curriculum Focus: Training covers the Internal Revenue Code, financial analysis, and investigative techniques for field work. Delivery Methods: Uses a combination of classroom training, web-based distance learning, and extensive on-the-job training. Initial Training: New hires undergo rigorous, often two-year, initial training to prepare for face-to-face interactions with taxpayers and representatives. System Access: Training is managed via the ITM system, with some specialized academies still under development as of April 2025. Career Path: Training supports the ability to handle complex tax collection cases, with opportunities for advancement. Newly hired revenue officers are typically trained to work in the field, analyzing financial information and enforcing tax compliance.)
