KANKAKEE DAILY JOURNAL
— Party insiders keep public out of loop – David Giuliani (DIERSEN: What if Wheaton’s recent West District City Council vacancy had been filled by a special election? What if the Daily Herald had published lots of information on the 10 candidates including their demographics, how long they lived in the West District and in Wheaton, their work experience, their education, their professional certifications and licenses, etc.? What if there had been candidate forums?)
https://www.daily-journal.com/news/local/david-giuliani-party-insiders-keep-public-out-of-loop/article_b37e8b84-fbf4-11e9-b989-27e219b5c676.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The process to appoint a replacement for state Sen. Toi Hutchinson, D-Olympia Fields, is veiled in secrecy. That’s the way it usually works. Under state law, local party leaders have the right to fill legislative vacancies. Unlike other states, no special elections are held. Because Hutchinson is a Democrat, her party will choose a successor. When asked about it, a local Democratic Party leader revealed there were four applicants for the position but declined to identify them. I’m told Hutchinson’s last day is Sunday. After she resigns, the state party has 30 days to appoint a replacement. Both Democrats and Republicans typically cloak the entire appointment process in secrecy. However, Kankakee County Democratic Chairman John Willard said his party will hold a public meeting, although constituents will be barred from asking questions of candidates. I’m glad a public meeting is planned, but I think candidates should field questions from prospective constituents — something like the interview process for presidential candidates at Kankakee Community College. Why can’t we hold special elections when legislators resign? Both Democrats and Republicans warn that such elections cost taxpayers a lot, while private appointment processes cost practically nothing. That’s an easy argument for them to make because they’re the ones filling vacancies. But it could be argued the costs of special elections are worth the benefits to democracy. Most vacancies occur when legislators resign. The most understandable reason is health. But many others quit because they find higher-paying jobs, often as lobbyists. Hutchinson is leaving to take a $220,000-a-year job in Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s administration. For years, I have suspected that so many legislators resign in Illinois because party insiders get to appoint replacements. It would be harder to quit mid-term if they knew that taxpayers would foot the bill for a special election. I decided to see how Illinois compares against Iowa, which holds special elections when vacancies occur. I checked on how members of each state’s senate got into office in the first place.)

While I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, my Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates asked me questions to get/confirm information to use against me. CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— HARDCOPY LETTER TITLE: Mayor Lightfoot, stop scorning Trump – Tim Schneider, Illinois Republican Party chairman, Chicago (DIERSEN: This letter to the editor, and others like it, should be in the inbox of a) every Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain in Illinois, b) every Republican Party leader in Illinois, c) every Republican elected official in Illinois, etc. GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails continue to fill the tremendous Republican communication void in Illinois.)
https://www.chicagotribune.com/opinion/letters/ct-letters-vp-110119-20191031-3bddlghmdbdtjdgjpzgqx27e3u-story.html
(FROM THE LETTER TO THE EDITOR: President Donald Trump came to Chicago on Monday and told the truth about our dysfunctional government — and Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the news media got the vapors, gasping that he insulted Chicago and its wonderful citizens. Fake news — again! I was with President Trump over lunch, and listened to his candid and often very humorous assessment of challenges and opportunities for our nation. He demonstrated a grasp of world events that was remarkable, and he laid out his strategy and assessments in plain, direct language. He started with Chicago, “this beautiful place that’s run so poorly.” He recounted his call to the mayor and offer to work together — and shrugged at the silence since. He expressed heartbreak at the ongoing violence in too many neighborhoods, pointing out that it should be inexcusable for some of us not to be better protected by our government. He pointed out how he supported the members of the Chicago Police Department as he mocked the showboating by police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. I witnessed firsthand his rapport with rank-and-file officers and their support for this president. Everything he said reflected a concern for the people of Chicago and a love of this great city, even as he scorned weak leadership. Mere days after the superintendent was found asleep in his car at a stop sign, must we all extol him despite the city’s high crime rate and his evident failures of leadership? Chicago is a wonderful city, but the people of the city and all the amenities it offers, are separate and distinct from our city government. Chicago is great, but our lousy government drags it down. For example, during CTU’s 10-plus-day strike, students languished, once-in-lifetime sporting experiences were missed, as teachers danced to Michael Jackson tunes. And over what? Mayor Lightfoot and the functionally insolvent Chicago Public Schools offered teachers $100,000, along with Cadillac pension and health benefits, for nine months of work each year — as an opening bid! There’s nothing here that should be criticized? So, please give it a rest, Mayor Lightfoot: You should embrace the Trump administration and seek help for our problems. Instead of looking for ways to fight the president, why not sit with him and share ideas on how to improve our home? If by working together you improve or save one life, then you’ve made our great city even better.)

While I worked for GAO 1980-1997, the last 11 years of which at GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $98,198-$127,654, I increasingly worked as a referencer, that is, as a fact checker. That work required assuring the accuracy and support for each and every word, number, table, graph, chart, conclusion, opinion, and recommendation in GAO reports. I worked for IRS 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $82,279-$93,592. My other fact checking qualifications include my becoming a Forensic Accountant in 1997, Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, licensed CPA in 1981, Certified Internal Auditor in 1981, and CPA in 1979.)

— Make These Tax Moves for 2019 Before It’s Too Late Looking to lower your tax bill? Here are a dozen steps to take as the end of the year approaches. – Laura Saunders (DIERSEN: Trump should increase the $10,000 SALT cap to $20,000 for married filing jointly because the SALT cap discourages marriage and homeownership.)
https://www.wsj.com/articles/make-these-tax-moves-for-2019-before-its-too-late-11572600606
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The most common itemized deductions are for state and local taxes (SALT), charitable donations and mortgage interest. Now that Congress has limited the SALT deduction to $10,000 per return both for single and married joint filers, it’s often easier for singles than couples to benefit from itemizing. For example, a married couple who deducts the limit of $10,000 of SALT needs more than $14,400 of other deductions to benefit from itemizing for 2019, because their standard deduction is $24,400. But a single filer who deducts $10,000 of SALT only needs other write-offs totaling more than $2,200, because his standard deduction is $12,200.)

My IRS superiors were under tremendous pressure a) to hire, retain, and promote young Democrat minorities and young Democrat females and b) to make way for them by getting rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who had not made GS-13 (currently $98,198) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $116,040) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $136,495) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $165,500) by age 40. To get rid of me, and to retaliate against me for complaining about political affiliation discrimination and reverse discrimination, my Democrat IRS superiors put me under an ethics cloud. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that my travel vouchers were fraudulent. SEE: https://www.gao.gov/products/463866 Of course, that ended whatever IRS career that I might have had. — The ABA Has Outdone Itself Rating Lawrence VanDyke ‘Not Qualified’ – CARRIE SEVERINO (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, and RINOs destroy you if you do not promote LGBTQ activity. I do not promote LGBTQ activity. Who has constructively, literally, and/or officially rated you as being “not qualified?” I should write a book about those who have constructively, literally, and/or officially rated me as being “not qualified.” They include my Democrat superiors in the federal government and past and present leaders of the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC), DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Illinois Republican Party, TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce (WCC), Illinois Center Right Coalition (ICRC), American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) Midwest Chapter, Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, Illinois, etc. They stress that I am no longer a TAPROOT chairman, WCC Government Affairs Committee member, MTRCC webmaster, ICRC Steering Committee member, AAPC Midwest Chapter board member, GAO employee, etc. They stress that the Wheaton City Council not only did not select me to fill its West District vacancy, it did not make me a finalist.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— DISGUSTING, TRAGIC: In Virginia Suburbs, Republicans Sound a Lot Like Democrats The off-year state legislative elections next Tuesday will test whether Republicans can appeal to anti-Trump voters by running on issues that Democrats usually espouse. – Reid J. Epstein (DIERSEN: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can/will defend/advance their platform. If you do not defend/advance the Republican Party platform, you should not seek or hold any kind of government or political office as a Republican.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/31/us/politics/virginia-elections-republicans.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As Glenn Davis seeks a fourth term in Virginia’s House of Delegates, he is going door to door with campaign literature touting his role in expanding Medicaid, his efforts to address gun violence and his support for L.G.B.T.Q. anti-discrimination legislation. There’s a photo of him with the state’s Democratic governor, Ralph Northam. Yet Mr. Davis is a Republican. He voted with his party to adjourn a special legislative session on gun control that Mr. Northam called this summer — 90 minutes after it began. When he campaigned for lieutenant governor in 2017, he said he was “running to do exactly what Donald Trump did in Washington.” Now, he is among a coterie of Republicans who are campaigning on issues long identified with Democrats ahead of Tuesday’s elections for the Virginia legislature, shifting away from a Republican base that in the age of Trump can no longer win suburban elections on its own. “We have a little bit of a messaging issue, we do,” Mr. Davis said in an interview this week.)

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/31/upshot/fake-local-news.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: All of them originate with a company called Locality Labs L.L.C., which created similar networks of questionable local websites in Illinois and Maryland, and state and local business and legal sites around the country. There’s little information about these sites. They typically lack mastheads, local addresses and clear disclosure of their ownership or revenue sources. Voters could easily become confused about the origins of information from these seemingly innocuous local-sounding outlets. In 2016, for example, websites in the Illinois network interviewed Republican candidates favored by a conservative state political committee, which then paid to mail print newspaper versions of the sites to voters without identifying them as political advertising.)

My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. In 1971 when I was 22 years old, Oldsmobile withdrew a job offer that I had accepted saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. https://www.dailyherald.com/discuss/20191030/it-wasnt-democracy-that-forced-dangerous-pot-option-on-communities
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sen. Heather Steans couldn’t be more wrong, answering the question (re: cannabis legalization HB1438) “Is democracy a bad thing?” by stating the bill’s co-authors “don’t think so.” It wasn’t democracy. It was representation gone awry with 104 Illinois legislators speaking on behalf of 12.8 million Illinoisans. With 60 out of 104 legislators having received a total of $630,000 in marijuana lobbyist money in 2017 and 45 voting yes, is it interesting? Yes. Comped? Maybe. Democracy? No. Negotiation and compromise were missing, too, with a 600-page amendment appearing in an unrelated shell bill two days before the General Assembly’s end of session. No public debate. No referendum. No transparency. No democracy. Question: Was HB1438 a bad thing? The real question is “Who ends up paying the price: you, your kids, businesses, communities, teachers, or law enforcement?” Other states teach us the answer: All of the above. The co-authors claim, “Our intent was not to impose cannabis dispensaries on every community.” Will it end up that way? Washington State began with mandated medical, offered opt-out recreational, but finally allocated retail licenses to communities.)

How rich were your parents when you were young? Neither of my outstanding parents attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. Extremely few federal employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines. What does that say about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes? It says that they promote political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination. https://www.fedsmith.com/2019/10/29/social-security-wep-fairness/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Social Security Administration released its analysis of the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act of 2019 (H.R. 141) at the end of September. The legislation would provide a break to older Americans (and their spouses) from the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) which reduces the size of the checks coming from Social Security when a person collects a pension from a job not covered by Social Security. The actuaries at the Social Security Administration estimate that this relief will cost the general taxpayer $33 billion over the next 10 years.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The template for their activity is one being tested in other Republican districts across the nation by organizations with different names but similar goals. These efforts are modeled after the “Rules for Radicals” framework established by the original “community organizer,” Saul Alinsky. They are dark-money funded indirectly by leftists like George Soros and his ultra-wealthy “Archenemies of Liberty,” including Tom Steyer, Michael Bloomberg, and Jeff Bezos. That leftist club, and its Democrat Party collective of congressional socialists, has been busy with a visible campaign to rig electoral demographics state by state, dispensing with the Electoral College in order to guarantee the perpetuity of leftist rule. But the Left is also engaged in a much more subversive strategy to transform our constitutional republic into a permanent populist democracy: a district-by-district strategy.)

— New marijuana store licenses: Residents of 681 Illinois census tracts can get a leg up on applications. Are you eligible? Here’s which areas qualify, and why. – Ally Marotti (DIERSEN: Pot pushers want all of Illinois to be designated a “Disproportionately Impacted Area (DIA).” I fear that the pot pushers in Springfield will vote to force the sale of pot in DIAs even if the municipality or county had voted to ban the sale there. Where pot is sold, it brings down everything and everyone around it. How close is a DIA to where you live or work? Illinois Democrats want pot shops to open up in DIAs to revitalize those areas. Wheaton is the DuPage County Seat. The Democrats who run the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (IDCEO) have outrageously designated western Wheaton (Census Tract 8426.04) as being a DIA, that is, an area that has high rates of arrest, conviction, and incarceration related to cannabis as well as poverty and unemployment. Needless-to-say, that must be a mistake. SEE: on https://censusreporter.org/profiles/14000US17043842604-census-tract-842604-dupage-il/ and https://www.chicagocityscape.com/maps/index.php?place=censustract-17043842604 While Wheaton has banned the sale of pot, the Democrats who run Illinois may very well vote to allow pot shops in DIAs thereby overriding Wheaton’s ban. I ask the following and everyone else who has an interest in Wheaton to ask the IDCEO to immediately rescind its western Wheaton DIA designation: Wheaton Mayor and City Council members, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Milton Township officers and trustees, DuPage County Board Chairman and County Board members, and federal and Illinois officials who represent or seek to represent any part of Wheaton.)
https://www.chicagotribune.com/marijuana/illinois/ct-biz-cb-recreational-marijuana-map-explained-20191028-uaeezndp6bep5o2xi6vzgyj2t4-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Applications for licenses to operate 75 marijuana stores are now available, offering the first path into the industry for those who don’t already operate a cannabis business in Illinois. A map the state released identifying areas hit hardest by the war on drugs could play a vital role for some applicants. More than 2 million people live in the hard-hit areas identified on the map. A qualified resident of those areas who applies to grow and sell recreational marijuana will get an additional 50 points on the application, which has a maximum score of 250 points. . .To create the map, officials broke the state down by U.S. Census tracts. To qualify, an area had to have an average annual rate of at least 30 marijuana-related arrests per 10,000 residents or at least one marijuana-related parole per 10,000 residents. Roughly 10 years of arrest and parole data was analyzed, said Michael Negron, assistant director of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The data reflects the addresses of people with marijuana arrests or paroles, not where the incidents occurred. Additionally, an area either must have a poverty rate above 20%, more than 20% of households in the area must receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, also known as food stamps, or the area’s average unemployment rate over the past two years must have been at least 20% higher than the national average. “The data is intended to be objective while still keeping in mind where we think the impact of the war on drugs is,” Negron said. “That means the data really sets the map.” Here’s a look at the poverty and SNAP participation rates of some census tracts identified on the map: . . . Wheaton — Poverty rate of 9%, SNAP participation 8.2%, average annual marijuana-related arrest rate of 9.1 per 10,000 residents. This tract qualified as underserved based on its unemployment rate of 5.7%, which was more than 20% higher than the national average in 2017 and 2018. It is west of downtown Wheaton and includes a western chunk of Milton Township.)

My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. To retain myself, I took evening and weekend courses at IIT and earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading in 1997. https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/341090
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Having some minimum requirements combined with previous hiring data is a great place to start. However, employers should go beyond that, and focus on hiring the right culture fit. . .cultural fit is essential. An organizational culture is a system of shared assumptions, values, and beliefs that govern how people behave in a company. These shared values have a strong influence on the people in the organization, and dictate how they act and perform. Unfortunately, many hires struggle due to culture misfit, where they do not fit in with the team, they are not aligned with the values and goals pre-established, or their personality and workstyle is not compatible with what the company offers. A great way for employers to start seriously considering culture fit when hiring is to, firstly, define their organization’s culture, and make sure that it is visible and communicated regularly. Some employers do this by developing a strong online employer brand that can be viewed by potential job applicants. By announcing their organizational culture to potential applicants, it is more likely that employers will receive candidates who truly share their core values and principles and are able to smoothly assimilate.)

https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20191026/as-trump-comes-to-town-which-suburban-republicans-will-join-the-bandwagon
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Some normally easy-to-reach Republican state representatives and senators didn’t return calls asking if they endorse Trump’s reelection or were buying tickets for the fundraising luncheon Monday starting at $2,800 a person. But Sen. Dan McConchie, a conservative Hawthorn Woods Republican, said he would be in Springfield during Trump’s Chicago visit. When asked if he supported Trump’s reelection, McConchie said, “No comment.” Rep. Allen Skillicorn of East Dundee, however, was all in. “Most politicians make promises with no intention to actually fulfill them,” Skillicorn said. “President Donald Trump is different. He has delivered on most of his promises. I’m confident his popularity has gone up in the suburbs versus 2016.” State Sen. Jim Oberweis of Sugar Grove said he supports Trump’s reelection but is not attending Monday’s events. . .”If they’re looking at a general election in a swing district, people need to be really careful how they embrace (Trump),” former Illinois Republican Senate Leader Christine Radogno said. Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider of Bartlett, who will be attending on Monday, was optimistic local Republicans “will support the president at almost a 95 percent rate.” Conservative state Rep. David McSweeney of Barrington Hills intends to back the president over any possible Democratic nominee, but he won’t be at Monday’s Trump events. “I agree with President Trump on cutting taxes and deregulation. I don’t agree with him on everything. For example, I have some disagreements with him on trade and foreign policy,” McSweeney said, clarifying he opposes the president’s abrupt decision to pull troops from the Kurdish occupied area of Syria. Typically when presidents visit, they’re surrounded by top party officials such as governors, senators and congressional representatives. That won’t happen this week with Illinois’ Democratic governor, U.S. senators and suburban House members, although former state Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton hopes to change some of that party balance. Republican Ives, of Wheaton, who is running in the 6th Congressional District against first-term U.S. Rep. Sean Casten, supports Trump’s reelection but has no plans to go to his events on Monday. Asked about grading his job so far, “it depends on the policy or issue,” said Ives, who ran for governor in 2018. Trump might not be the only choice for Illinois voters in the March primary. Former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh of Mundelein is running for the Republican nomination, although with just $115,000 in his coffers it’s a long shot, said Republican strategist Aaron Del Mar. The Palatine Township Republican committeeman, a friend of Walsh’s, is not only solidly in the Trump camp, but he’s selling tickets for the fundraiser. “I’m not a 100 percent for everything the president says,” Del Mar said.)

FORBES
— The Bitter Truth About Why People Fail To Succeed In Their Jobs – Terina Allen (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents falsely deny that while I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years 1966-1969 and 1971-1997, that virtually all my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran. My critics/opponents falsely deny that while I worked for GAO 1980-1997, the agency was almost always under promotion freezes, that it shrank from about 6,000 employees to about 3,000 employees, and that it suffered tremendous budget cuts during the mid-1990s. My critics/opponents falsely argue that my superiors in the federal government were never under pressure from Democrat politicians a) to hire, retain, and promote young Democrat minorities and young Democrat females or b) to make way for them by getting rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran and who they had not promoted to GS-13 (currently $98,198) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $116,040) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $136,495) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $165,500) by age 40. My critics/opponents falsely dent that extremely few federal employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines. My critics/opponents falsely argue that my Democrat superiors in the federal government did not take adverse actions against me a) because I complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation or b) because I became an active member in a class action lawsuit in 1988 that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: I asked the group of about 200 to share the “real” reasons that they either fired, refused to promote or downgraded a performance review on an employee within the prior two years. This is an aggregate list (in order of number of responses) for what they provided. Employees were fired, not promoted or rated poorly because they 1. didn’t seem to fit with the team, or they didn’t “mesh” in with the organizational culture.)

THRIVE GLOBAL
— How to Survive an Emotionally-Demanding Job – Thomas Oppong (DIERSEN: In retrospect, I am amazed that I survived for almost 30 years working for the Democrats who run the federal government. I never would have been able to do that if I had not earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32. My superiors were always under tremendous pressure from Democrat politicians to get rid of their employees who shared my demographics.)

MEDIA POST
— Publishers Decry Facebook’s Power As Social Network Generates Traffic – Rob Williams (DIERSEN: My GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails drive lots traffic to certain websites. What do you say to owners of certain of those websites a) who force me to pay them to have access to their websites and/or b) who do not want me to drive traffic to their websites? I should write a book about the aforesaid website owners. I would focus on those who state that they operate their website to make a profit, but in fact, they operate their website to promote the Democrat, Libertarian, and/or Green political parties.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Benioff, who also is CEO of software firm Salesforce, likened Facebook to cigarettes for having addictive powers and harmful effects on kids. “Facebook is addictive, it’s not good for you, they’re after your kids, they’re running political ads that aren’t true … and they’re also acquiring other companies and co-mingling data those companies have on their users into theirs for more power,” he said in an interview with CNN. Benioff isn’t the only media executive who has criticized Facebook. Rupert Murdoch, the News Corp. CEO whose political affiliations are the opposite of Benioff’s, also wants to rein in Facebook. Murdoch is dependent on the social network’s power to drive web traffic. His Fox News website generated more Facebook “engagements” than any other publisher during the third quarter, according to analytics firm NewsWhip. Those engagements keep people glued to Facebook, which is problematic for publishers that want to monetize their own audiences. Facebook reportedly is addressing this issue by offering cash payments to publishers whose articles appear in its news section, but it remains to be seen how lucrative that source of revenue will be.)
