My Democrat superiors in the federal government used AA and DEI to make me pay reparations big time. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me to resign in 1969 when I was 20 years old. My Democrat IRS superiors never promoted me beyond GS-12. My Democrat GAO superiors a) forced me to take a $21,863/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980, b) delated my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13, c) always ranked me in the bottom of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, and d) forced me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997. My Civil Service Retirement System pension is only 44% of what my GAO salary was in 1997 in today’s dollars and less than what my IRS salary was in 1972 in today’s dollars.

First, it demonstrates that ageism is unique in being perhaps the only form of prejudice generally tolerated by the public, including those who would otherwise vehemently condemn discrimination. Had Haley, who herself is eligible for AARP membership, attacked another political opponent precisely because that opponent was Black or gay or Jewish, she would, quite rightly, have been so severely censured that her own candidacy probably would have been over. But it would appear that inclusiveness somehow does not extend to the elderly. The rationale behind this might be the gratuitous and unwarranted perception that older workers are less competent, efficient, or adaptable than their younger counterparts in a given field. While this is a groundless stereotype, there is ever in the workplace that situation of the besieged older worker struggling to hang on until retirement while younger workers breathe down his or her neck trying to get the worker’s job. Fortunately, this may be changing, not because people are becoming more accepting of elders but because automation, cybernation, and artificial intelligence, unlike candidate Haley, do not discriminate; they will displace anyone. They are equal opportunity employers. So while younger workers race frantically to get the older worker’s job, they now have to watch their own backs. To the robotic device or the astounding AI program poised to unseat them, they might just as well be old.)
