— Democrats run the federal government. If I had become a Democrat, the federal government would have promoted me into its Senior Executive Service before I was 40 years old in 1988. I say that because a) I earned an MBA when I was 27, a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31, and a master’s degree in finance when I was 48, b) I passed the CPA and Certified Internal Auditor examinations on my first attempt when I was 30 and 32, c) I became a licensed CPA when I was 32, and d) I earned additional job-related professional certifications when I was 41, 45, 46, and 48. None of my coworkers who my Democrat superiors promoted over me came close to doing anything like the aforesaid. – Dave Diersen

— Republicans in Congress are drafting a tax bill that raises the state and local tax deduction cap for individuals from $10,000 to $25,000. I started itemizing when I was 24 years old in 1972 and my wife and I started in 1978. We paid less federal income tax because of that. But SALT ended all that. My critics/opponents have been furious that we have paid less federal income tax by itemizing. They want SALT and they do not want the SALT cap to be increased.
