FAMILY PAC
— A Statement From Paul Caprio About Rauner’s Signing of HB 40
http://mailchi.mp/f553f1874776/statement-from-paul-caprio?e=8dc9fff257
(FROM THE ARTICLE:  About three years ago to this day, I was asked by a supporter to meet with Bruce Rauner in the final stages of his campaign for Illinois governor. I agreed to the meeting, which took place at the Union League Club in Chicago. Family-Pac had not supported Rauner in the Primary, and Rauner had refused to clarify his positions on a host of issues important to all of us. He continued to say that he had no “social agenda.” My friend David Smith of the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) asked that I try to persuade Rauner to complete the IFI candidate questionnaire so that Christian voters across Illinois would be informed of his positions. At our meeting, Rauner said he would not fill out the questionnaire because his “consultants” told him he “had to get every question right to get the “endorsement.” I explained that IFI was a 501(c) (3) organization that did not “endorse” candidates and that no one was looking for “perfection” but only his honest attempt to state his views. Rauner said that he was not filling out any questionnaires (the position also stated by his campaign lieutenants) and that he wanted to keep Personal-Pac “neutralized.” I told him that Personal-Pac and Terry Cosgrove would be running TV spots against him. He seemed surprised. (Shortly thereafter, Personal-Pac TV ads against Rauner began.) This meeting exemplifies the series of lies by Bruce Rauner to Illinois pro-family voters and leaders. First, Rauner said to me that he was not completing any candidate questionnaires—yet this May, after Rauner stated his intention to veto HB 40 (taxpayer-funded abortion), Personal-Pac released a copy of Rauner’s “perfect” questionnaires in which he had pledged to sign taxpayer-funded abortion. In May, after promising Cardinal Cupich that he would veto HB 40, Rauner signed this dastardly bill, which will result in the deaths more than 12,000 innocent victims a year according to reliable estimates. In 50 years, I have never seen a politician as consistently dishonest on family issues as Bruce Rauner. Rauner has become a “cancer” on the Republican Party leadership, who should disassociate from him and declare the 2018 March Primary “open,” but they won’t…because they don’t have the courage to stand up for their “professed” beliefs and are indentured to his money. But Family-Pac will….with your help. On October 9, we convened a meeting of 20 pro-family/pro-life organizations to recruit a strong pro-family candidate to seek the GOP nomination against Rauner and his multi-million dollar checkbook. We are interviewing a number of candidates now and also pledged to support an independent candidate, like Joe Walsh, if necessary. We are leading the attack against Rauner in the media everyday, but we need your help. if Family-Pac is going to provide essential financial help to the candidate we recruit to get a strong campaign off the ground. Please help now as never before. We must fight to repeal HB 40 and provide courageous moral leadership to some of the Rauner-fearing elected officials. Please go to our website http://www.family-pac.com/support-us/ to contribute $35, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000, or $2500 or send your donation in today to stand up for innocent life, taxpayers, and integrity in government as never before.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner, despite buckets of campaign cash, may be in for a primary fight in his 2018 re-election battle for governor. Suburban Republican lawmaker Jeanne Ives (Wheaton) is considering getting in the race, citing her frustration with the governor’s signing of HB40, a law that will increase access to abortion for state Medicaid recipients and would continue to make abortion legal in Illinois should the U.S. Supreme Court choose to overturn it. Rauner is facing a revolt from the grassroots of his party, with several Republican lawmakers saying they can’t support him for re-election and are actively looking for an alternative. Former ally John Tillman, head of the libertarian think tank The Illinois Policy Institute, referred to him as “Benedict Rauner” for allegedly “going back on his word” and signing HB40. Ives would appear to be at a significant financial disadvantage, but could level the playing field if she garners the support of political operatives like Dan Proft and uber-funder Dick Uihlein.)

October 10 Morning Edition

THE FEDERALIST
— Illinois Governor Breaks Promise, Sends Nonexistent Tax Dollars To No-Limits Abortions  This is what ‘working together’ looks like in Illinois: submission to the agenda of the majority party and the entrenched interests who fund their campaigns. – Jeanne Ives
http://thefederalist.com/2017/10/10/illinois-governor-breaks-promise-sends-nonexistent-tax-dollars-no-limits-abortions/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When I first got down to Springfield after being elected state representative in 2013, I thought, “What have I gotten myself into?” The mess in Springfield was worse than I could have imagined. Politics in Illinois is something akin to a modern-day Tammany Hall, defined by cronyism, waste, mismanagement, and corruption. Two of our last four governors were convicted of crimes and went to prison — George Ryan for what became known as the “hired truck scandal” and Rod Blagojevich for attempting to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat. So it was to no one’s surprise that Illinois politics made national news again last week. Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law a bill forcing taxpayers to fund abortion at any time, for any reason. His signature made Illinois the first state in the nation to enact such a law. Legislation not even contemplated by prior Democratic governors and legislatures was signed by a Republican. The clichéd diagnosis is that Illinois is broken and that the problems are so great that we cannot overcome them without a political savior—someone who has achieved an elite status. This defective tendency illustrates the real problem in Illinois, and how we have come to hold a bottom rank in every economic indicator (highest property taxes in the nation, heaviest overall tax burden, lowest bond rating, highest unemployment in the Midwest). Far from being broken, Illinois is operating exactly as those in charge intended. Illinois Is In the Midst of Financial Collapse  As my first term ended in 2014, the state was collapsing. Illinoisans were finally waking up, and not a minute too soon. We found hope in Rauner’s candidacy. He was a political outsider who promised to “Shake Up Springfield.” We were impressed with his business acumen and galvanized by his reformist mission. So we were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when he promised he had “no social agenda,” despite his generous donations to Planned Parenthood. Since his inauguration, Illinois’ backlog of unpaid bills is higher. Our unemployment rate and unfunded pension liability remain bleak. Corruption and cronyism continue, as a single lobbyist connected to the Rauner administration secured 2,800 state contracts worth nearly $17 billion. And a budget impasse that put social service providers into crisis was ended by a massive tax hike with no structural reforms. This is what “working together” looks like in Illinois: submission to the agenda of the majority party and the entrenched interests who fund their campaigns. Illinois politicians serve a constituency. It’s just not the families in their communities. They serve special interests who fund their campaigns: public-sector unions, crony capitalists, and other groups that feed on government. What Other Rauner Promises Will We Find Were Lies? Last April, Rauner publicly promised he would veto a bill that would force taxpayers to pay for abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. He lied. He signed the bill with a shrug of his shoulders, stating “I have always been pro-choice and I always will be.” Meanwhile, Illinois is ranked 48th in the nation in providing for our developmentally disabled—people who through no fault of their own need state aid. Families and businesses in this state want resources applied efficiently to the numerous problems we already have. Yet Rauner committed our limited Medicaid dollars to highly controversial, elective medical procedures. The decision was a slap in the face to every struggling family who put their trust in the reform governor with no social agenda. For Rauner, like the machine politicians before him, winning elected office was not about advancing a set of principles to spur transformative policy change. Winning office was a mechanism through which he could distribute goodies and favors to friends and allies of convenience, in this case Planned Parenthood. The cost of this law could approach $20 million. In a state with presumptive eligibility for pregnant women to receive Medicaid, there is also a real possibility that Illinois taxpayers will pay for abortions of women from surrounding states who falsely claim to be residents. The state has had enormous problems in the past with high numbers of ineligible folks on Medicaid. In all this drama, the families of Illinois are forgotten and left to pick up the tab. Already on the hook for the highest property taxes in the nation, many families face unemployment as businesses bleed into more friendly states. Other families are trying to keep their heads above water, having seen needed social services reduced or eliminated over the past three years. So, as pundits and pols rant and rave in the papers and on social media, too many families quietly pack up and leave. Even those who are doing well look at state politics and wonder why they would entrust their family’s future to these “leaders.” Here is what Illinois families should know: While the concentrated power in Springfield seems daunting, the people have the collective numbers, resources, and values to end Illinois’ rigged political culture. October 9 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Who are the conservative leaders in Illinois, in your county, in your township/ward, and in your municipality? How many and which Republican activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, and political consultants in Illinois read their emails? During the last week, last month, and last year, what have they written in support of the traditional family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) and other planks in the Republican Party platform and the Illinois Republican Party platform? What have they written in support of the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling? If conservative leaders in Illinois were to meet to discuss actions to take concerning Rauner/Sanguinetti, which conservative leaders would you want to participate in that meeting and why? My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes dismiss/belittle/badmouth the fact I have been the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000 and a Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1999. They dismiss/belittle/badmouth a) my knowledge of the important conservative leaders in Illinois; b) my knowledge of the important Republican activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, and political consultants in Illinois; and c) my enhanced knowledge of Brady, Breen, Ives, Proft, Sanguinetti, etc. They stress that I am no longer a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) webmaster, Illinois Center Right Coalition (ICRC) Steering Committee (SC) member, American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member, GAO employee, etc. They stress that lost 69 to 13 when I ran for MTRCC Treasurer in 2004 in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall. They stress that an ICRC SC member tried to get ICRC to censure me because of my GOPUSA ILLLINOIS emails at ICRC’s 2006 Annual Convention in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall.  My critics/opponents a) are moral relativists who believe that their end justifies their means, b) are disciples of Saul Alinsky, and c) focus on destroying individuals like me, organizations like TAPROOT, companies, governments, etc. that they cannot manipulate/dominate. – Dave Diersen

DAILY HERALD
— FRONT PAGE WITH COLOR PHOTO OF LESTER: Is Illinois GOP uniting in opposition to Rauner, abortion? – Kerry Lester  (DIERSEN: Are you a Republican Precinct Committeeman?  Are you “not passing (Rauner/Sanguinetti) petitions?” I have gathered 34 signatures on 3 petition sheets from Republican voters in 19 homes in my DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 in Wheaton. Since 2000, my policy has been to gather signatures from Republican voters in my precinct for all the announced Republican candidates who will be Republican primary ballots in my precinct.)
http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20171009/lester-is-illinois-gop-uniting-in-opposition-to-rauner-abortion
(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton says the state Republican party, criticized in recent months for its internal squabbles, is banding together in opposition to GOP Gov. Bruce Rauner’s approval of an abortion funding measure last month. “Certainly, the party’s fractured, but when I talk to my colleagues, they’re not supporting Rauner, not passing his petitions,” Ives says. “We actually seem to be uniting against the signing of this bill.” Ives might be on to something. The Illinois Republican congressional delegation released a joint statement describing Rauner’s signing of the measure, which expands taxpayer funding of abortions and ensures the procedure remains legal in Illinois, as one that “let down taxpayers and the unborn.” He’s also angered former allies, including conservative radio host Dan Proft, who runs a political action committee that has in the past spent millions supporting candidates that have backed Rauner’s agenda. The conservative Illinois Policy Institute, whose former head exited as Rauner’s chief of staff on Friday, deemed the governor “Benedict Rauner” over the abortion bill. Possible opponents? Ives, whose name’s been floated as a possible Rauner opponent, isn’t committing to an election bid so far. Neither is state Rep. Peter Breen of Lombard, a Thomas More Society attorney who says he refuses to support Rauner after the governor signed the abortion bill. State Sen. Bill Brady, who ran with a socially conservative platform as his party’s gubernatorial nominee three times, most recently in 2014, also wouldn’t say if he’s in or out. Proft didn’t return messages seeking comment. Rauner, for his part, has been leaving voicemails for Republican legislators with the message that the abortion issue is “very emotional, very difficult.” He says he’s pro-choice, but hopes the party can “move past these issues and respectfully agree to disagree” and focus on jobs, tax reduction, higher family incomes, school choice, political reforms and ethics reforms “so we can win and become the majority party again.”)
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Ever-increasingly, members of the following groups use children as cannon fodder: anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, and anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Evanston High School, meanwhile, saw players and marching band members kneel during a game late last month against New Trier High School. Evanston Township District 202 Superintendent Eric Witherspoon read a statement over the loudspeaker saying “we must work as a community to combat systems of oppression aimed at our black, Latino, Muslim, refugee, immigrant and LGBT communities.” It was a message, he said, Evanston students helped with.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A predominantly agricultural county with two ethanol plants and three gun manufacturers, Henry County in far western Illinois is a compelling indicator of the existing political landscape: Like almost all of rural Illinois, it went for Trump by a wide margin — he got 14,000 votes there to Hillary Clinton’s 8,900. Yet the county supported Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, but went with George W. Bush in 2004.)

The candidates are: U.S. CONGRESS: Peter Roskam; STATE OF ILLINOIS: Bruce Rauner, Governor and Evelyn Sanguinette, Lieutenant Governor and Erika Harold, Attorney General; ILLINOIS SENATE: Michael Connelly; ILLINOIS HOUSE: Jeanne Ives; DUPAGE COUNTY: Dan Cronin, Board Chairman; James Mendrick and Frank Bibbiano, Sheriff; Paul Hinds, Clerk; Gwen Henry, Treasurer; Darlene Ruscitti, Regional Superintendent of Schools; DUPAGE COUNTY BOARD District 4: Grant Eckhoff, Amy Grant, Paula McGowen, and Beth Tatro; DUPAGE COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE: Joseph Cantore, President; CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE: Richard Russo and Karen Wilson; and REPUBLICAN PRECINCT COMMITTEEMAN: Dave Diersen.  Outstandingly, yesterday evening, my State Farm Insurance Agent Mark Prutzman notarized the aforesaid 56 nominating petitions and my Statement of Candidacy, Oath of Registration Officer, and Loyalty Oath. Ever since I was first elected Republican Precinct Committeeman in 2000, my policy has been to gather signatures on nominating petition sheets for all the candidates who will be on Republican primary ballots in my precinct.)
http://dupagegop.org/candidates/2018-petitions/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Please help gather signatures for our Republican candidates. Any assistance you can provide to help them secure ballot access would be greatly appreciated. To help, click the links, print the petition sheets, and get signatures from your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. For statewide candidates, anyone who lives in Illinois can sign. For countywide and judicial candidates, signees have to live within DuPage. Federal, state, and county legislators need signatures from those who are registered to vote in their districts. We will update this page when we receive more petitions from the campaigns. Please mail completed, notarized petitions to P.O. Box 893, Wheaton, IL 60187, your local Republican township organization, or the candidate’s campaign office.)

CHAMPAIGN/URBANA NEWS GAZETTE
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Anti-Trumps say “Contentious speaker met with peaceful protests near Illini Union.” (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, schools crank out “good little Democrats” who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)
http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2017-10-06/contentious-speaker-met-with-peaceful-protests-near-illini-union.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE:  Controversial conservative speaker Charlie Kirk’s appearance Thursday night on campus was pretty much a political version of the battle of the bands. Before the Turning Point USA founder began his 40-minute talk inside the Illini Union, a mostly-student crowd of 67 marched across the Quad in that direction, many of them chanting slogans like “Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Charlie Kirk has got to go.” Several onlookers grabbed their cellphones to snap selfies in front of the protesters. “He promotes racist policies,” said Elizabeth Dean of the International Socialist Organization. “He wants to build a wall on the border with Mexico. He promotes the ‘professor watch list,’ which asks students to give information about professors they think are left wing. I think his views are harmful to students on campus.” Inside the Union, close to 200 people packed Illini Room B to hear Kirk, a member of President Donald Trump’s transition team, extol the virtues of capitalism, fiscal responsibility and limited government. Attendees launched their own chant: “USA! USA! USA!” One woman squealed when Kirk suggested the U.S. move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. “College students are so used to hearing one side of the political agenda,” said Debbie Bernal, president of the UI chapter of Turning Point USA. “It is important to know there are other beliefs out there that young people are open to, as well.” UI police were stationed both inside and outside the union, but no violence was reported. Most of the conflict was of the verbal variety as each side promoted its views, separated by a hallway. Outside, Nilly Kumar of Urbana carried a sign reading “Open mic for anyone who hates fascism.” “Charlie Kirk is openly against the immigrant community and the undocumented community,” Kumar said. “He supports ideas that should have stayed in the racist 20th century. They don’t belong in this time period.” Inside, Kirk’s talk was interrupted only by loud applause from supporters, many of whom sported buttons reading “I love capitalism” and “Socialism sucks.” “Whether you agree or disagree, it is so important to fight for free speech on campuses today,” Kirk told the crowd. Among his remarks: a call for colleges to move from four-year to three-year degrees. “College should not be about life exploration,” he said. “It should be about career preparation.”)

— Can big bucks buy J.B. human persona? – Gregory Tejeda (DIERSEN: Neither of my outstanding parents attended college. My father fought type 1 diabetes from age 14, was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma, worked in the office of a chemical plant, almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills, did not buy a new car until he was 45, a bottom-of-the-line 2-door Chevy, and died suddenly of heart failure in 1969 when he was 47 and I was 21. My mother never attended high school.)
http://chicagoargus.blogspot.com/2017/10/can-big-bucks-buy-jb-human-persona.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Instead, we get to hear a first-hand story of how wonderful his mother, Sue, was. He talks about how after his father, Donald, died when J.B. was merely a 7-year-old, his mother struggled to support he and his siblings. Her efforts were made all the more difficult by the fact that she was an alcoholic. She could easily have been overwhelmed by becoming a widow. Instead, she managed to raise all her children to adulthood where they succeeded in life, and J.B. says he gained “a kind of empathy and understanding” about people who struggle. HE CLAIMS THAT empathy will be put to use if he becomes governor. He’ll sympathize with all of us. . .BUT IT IS because this statement is so much like something just about anyone would say about their mother. I could easily come up with a similar accounting of how strong my late mother became following her divorce from my father – all because she wanted me and my brother to not suffer due to the split some four decades ago. In fact, my quarrel would be to say that my mother was just as special as his mother. Something I’m sure just about every voter would argue.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: But now her dreams of becoming a doctor could be shattered forever. That’s because Cinthya is one of about 800,000 DREAMers nationwide – young children brought to this country by their parents. Thanks to President Trump’s craven decision to reverse the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program or DACA, Cinthya’s contributions and those of hundreds of thousands of other DREAMers to our community and country could come to an end. Make no mistake, Congress has to now fix this problem that Trump created. I’m hopeful that Republicans can come together with Democrats and pass the bipartisan DREAM Act. Deporting DREAMers like Cinthya means destroying the lives of hundreds of thousands of patriotic young people, costing the economy billions and betraying the fundamental values of the American Dream.)

— U.S. Halt in Visa Services Leaves Cuban Families in Limbo – ERNESTO LONDOÑO
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/world/americas/cuba-us-visas.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Cubans have long regarded emigrating to the United States as something of a birthright derived from the privations they endured as a result of sanctions that Washington has imposed on Cuba for decades. Last week, for the first time in decades, the United States effectively shut down the immigration pipeline from the island as it sharply reduced its staff at the embassy in Havana in response to mysterious ailments there, leaving in limbo more than 100,000 Cubans, most of whom are seeking to reunite with relatives. The decision to indefinitely suspend visa processing at the embassy — one of the busiest consular posts in the region — could mean that the United States will fail to honor its obligations under a 1994 deal that requires the admission of at least 20,000 Cuban immigrants a year, current and former American diplomats say. The accord was reached in an effort to stem an exodus by Cubans who took to the seas in rafts by the thousands in the 1990s trying to reach Florida.)

They are especially furious that IRS promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974 and that GAO promoted me in 1986. In today’s dollars, I started at $15.56/hour (GS 4, Step 1) and ended at $122,991/year (GS-13 Step 10). From what I see, ever-increasingly, residents of my precinct, Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, and Illinois are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)
http://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/2017/10/05/still-booming-with-retirees-the-villages-gives-trump-gop-edge-in-florida/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Yet over time, the explosive growth has fueled a remarkable, somewhat under-the-radar demographic trend that is playing an increasingly key role in the country’s most prized swing state. Overwhelmingly white and Republican, The Villages and surrounding areas have offset the rise in Hispanic residents in Central Florida, part of the vaunted I-4 corridor where elections are decided. In a state with a history of bitterly close elections, small shifts matter greatly and this one played a key role in Donald Trump’s narrow victory.)

WBUR
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: An anti-Trump says “Trump Is Getting The Press He Deserves.” Are you getting what you deserve? Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes say that I deserved what I got from my Democrat superiors in the federal government. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. Of course, they say that I got what I deserved from the members of TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Milton Township Republican Central Committee, Illinois Center Right Coalition, American Association of Political Consultants, etc.)

GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE
— House Approves Budget Plan that Would Cut Federal Employee Benefits – Erich Wagner  (DIERSEN: If you sought a government office or a political office, what would your critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes throw at you? They would throw at me that the federal government dramatically overpaid me and that my federal retirement benefits are much too generous. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32.)
http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2017/10/house-approves-budget-would-cut-federal-benefits/141582/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Jessica Klement, legislative director of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, described the potential cuts to federal compensation as “hypocrisy.” “This sets the stage for the federal community to pay for tax reform,” she said. “You’re paying for middle class tax cuts on the backs of middle class federal employees and retirees. It goes against the fundamental premise of this tax reform package.” Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., the vice ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, called the budget resolution “ruinous,” and said that while his committee would be responsible for $32 billion in cuts, the cost of the overall budget to federal workers and retirees could reach as high as $163 billion over the next decade. “Federal employee pay and benefits are not the cause of this country’s deficit and debt,” Connolly said. “The federal workforce has already contributed nearly $200 billion toward reducing the country’s deficits in the form of pay freezes, pay raises insufficient to keep pace with inflation, furloughs and increased retirement contributions. We should honor and revere the service of our federal workforce, not denigrate it with the attacks included in this ugly budget.” National Treasury Employees Union National President Tony Reardon decried the proposal, which he said would unfairly punish government employees. “On paper, it may look like a way to save money but in the real world, cutting the paychecks and retirements of federal employees, just to help pay for tax cuts for the wealthy, is a mean-spirited way to build a national budget,” Reardon said. “Since when is it acceptable to attack the very people who are providing hurricane relief, protecting clean air and water, conducting cutting-edge scientific research, enforcing the tax laws, securing the border, maintaining the national parks and guarding our financial system?”)

POLITICO ILLINOIS
— Illinois GOP flap over ‘ANTI-GAY’ speaker – Natasha Korecki  (DIERSEN: I should write a book about anti-conservatives, their operatives, and their dupes in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who despised if not hated those who I invited to speak at TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois meetings and events while I was its chairman 2005-2012. I invited all activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, etc., including Dave Smith, who support the Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party platform, and the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling.)
http://www.politico.com/tipsheets/illinois-playbook/2017/10/05/politico-illinois-playbook-gop-party-flap-over-anti-gay-speaker-222648
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As Gov. Bruce Rauner faces relentless criticism from members of his own party over his signing of a bill that expands the public funding of abortion, we were tipped to a curious event promoted on the Illinois Republican Party web site. The site listed an event in Decatur scheduled for this evening featuring David Barton, an Evangelical Christian speaker/author/activist, whom the Southern Law Poverty Center has described as “anti-gay and antigovernment.” Screenshot here. The Illinois Family Institute coordinated the event. Talk about moving from one extreme to the other. Was the state party, almost entirely funded by Rauner, taking a sharp right turn to try to balance out Rauner’s HB40 signature? When we posed the question to Republican Party spokesman Aaron DeGroot, the post was almost immediately pulled down from the site. “This event was posted in error and has been removed,” DeGroot said in an emailed response. “The party website’s calendar is a local party-driven, community calendar that contains events hosted by the Illinois Republican Party, Republican lawmakers, county Republican central committees, and other local Republican organizations. Events that do not fall under those categories do not belong on the calendar and will be removed.” DeGroot further explained: “Inclusion of an event on the ILGOP community calendar should not be interpreted as an endorsement from the state party of that event, organization, or those affiliated with the event. Rather, the calendar is meant to be a resource for local Republican organizations to be aware of Republican-affiliated events occurring in their areas.” More from the Southern Poverty Law Center: “A prolific propagandist, Barton has long promoted the canard that our Founding Fathers never intended the separation of church and state but rather sought to construct a Christian nation,” says a write-up of Barton by the Southern Law Poverty Center. “His Texas-based group, WallBuilders, sells an abundant bounty of books and DVDs pushing Barton’s fun-house vision of religious patriotism. And this distorted message has sold well.” So who posted it on the web site? We asked Illinois Family Institute’s David E. Smith. “Wait, really? It was on the Republican Party web site?” Smith chuckled over the phone. “It doesn’t surprise me that Central Illinois folks are kind of excited about that and maybe someone in web maintenance thought it would be a good event. But somebody didn’t get the memo — you don’t promote stuff from the Illinois Family Institute on the Republican Party website.” Smith said he views the party apparatus as “leftist” and called Republicans who embrace abortion rights “RINOs.” He further said Barton was invited as a historian and author to talk about Christian values. He took issue with a depiction of Barton as anti-gay. “We are Christians and so is David Barton. We believe every human being is made in the image of God … we do love our LGBTQ-I-A-whatever, neighbors. But we love them enough to tell them that this is not how God has designed you. We don’t deny there is such a thing as same-sex attraction. I do believe, however, that you can fight that. That you can overcome it. I do know a few ex-homosexuals.” Hoooo boy. And now we know why the post was taken down. However, one cached version of the GOP website from July shows the event, so it was up there for months. This all led to another question — how much independence can a state party that’s now divided have from Rauner, given that the governor is solidly in support of abortion rights — and that he has bankrolled the Illinois Republican Party? Will the party web site promote events opposing abortion? DeGroot: “The Illinois Republican Party will post pro-life events that are affiliated with an official Republican organization on our community calendar.”)

During the mid-1990s, I recruited Jim to speak at an Association of Government Accountants Chicago Chapter meeting. We were fellow Milton Township Republican Precinct Committeemen. The Daily Herald reported that Jim attended a July 5, 2003 picnic the Prairie Path Park in my precinct that I had organized for the residents of my precinct and the residents of the precincts to the east and west. Attendees got to meet the five announced Republican candidates for U.S. Senate – John Cox, Chirinjeev Kathuria, Andy McKenna, Jim Oberweis, and Jack Ryan. Cox brought Jays Potato Chips. Oberweis brought ice cream. The 200+ attendees included now Congressman Randy Hultgren. Jack Ryan won the primary, but withdrew. His replacement, Alan Keyes lost to Barack Obama. Jim served as the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) Treasurer 1998-2004. In 2004, stressing the need for MTRCC to develop and to follow budgets, I unsuccessfully ran to fill the MTRCC Treasurer vacancy.)

The IRP should a) have the power to stop candidates who reject the IRP platform from running for offices as a Republican and b) have the power to remove from office elected and appointed Republican officials who reject the IRP platform.)

ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE
— Where Were Conservatives on Monday Night? – Laurie Higgins  (DIERSEN: I spent Monday evening in Wheaton a) gathering signatures in my precinct on petitions for Republican candidates, b) attending the Milton Township Republican Central Committee Oktoberfest fundraiser, c) writing a report on that event, and d) putting out a GOPUSA ILLINOIS evening edition email.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes are extremely judgmental and have always viciously demonized, viciously denigrated, and viciously condemned me and what I do with my time and money. They especially demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me because I am not a member of a church, I do not attend church services, and I do not give money to a church.  I spend Sunday mornings putting GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails together and sending them out.)
https://illinoisfamily.org/uncategorized/conservatives-needed-show/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Following a contemptible Facebook post by the now nationally infamous School District U-46 school board member Traci O’Neal Ellis in which she asserted that the American flag means no more to her than toilet paper, Monday’s board meeting saw a slew of impassioned comments most of them in support of Ellis. Most, however, failed to address the crux of public outrage: The public is outraged by the incivility of Ellis and by her myopic, imbalanced view of America. Fifteen people spoke, twelve in favor of Ellis and three in opposition to Ellis’ comment. My question is, what the heck is wrong with conservatives? How can Ellis’ comment, which elicited national condemnation, including from former governor Mike Huckabee, motivate only three people to speak at a board meeting? The meeting began as always with a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance during which Ellis was the only member not to cover her heart.)

PEOPLE’S PUNDIT DAILY
— Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner Begging for a Primary Challenge – Editorial (DIERSEN: Rauner knows that anti-Trumps would call any primary challenger a White supremacist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and even worse things. Rauner knows that would help his supporters argue a) that he and Sanguinetti are “good” Republicans and b) that all other Republicans, including Diersen, are “bad” Republicans.)
https://www.peoplespunditdaily.com/news/elections/2017/10/05/illinois-governor-bruce-rauner-primary-challenge-election-2018/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has now betrayed the Republican base on several key issues that could cost him what appears to be an inevitable primary. While the former venture capitalist-turned-politician has a massive war chest for his reelection efforts, the 2016 demonstrated no amount of money can appease an angry Republican base. Previously, Gov. Rauner signed a bill that limited the cooperation local and state police give to federal immigration authorities. As polls have shown, American voters overall support local and state officials cooperating with the federal government on immigration and oppose sanctuary cities. Among Republican voters, the already overwhelming margin is even more lopsided. Then, the governor struck a deal with state Democrats increasing taxes and spending after Republicans provided him political support on budget reforms. Now, he caved to Democrats in the state and expanded taxpayer-funded abortions. Republicans in the Illinois House are furious, as the entire delegation signed onto a statement issued on Tuesday publicly rebuking him. “In a reversal of long-standing Illinois policy, Governor Rauner has let down Illinois taxpayers and the unborn by signing,” Republican Reps. Peter Roskam, John Shimkus, Randy Hultgren, Rodney Davis, Adam Kinzinger, Darin LaHood and Mike Bost said in a statement. Illinois state Rep. Peter Breen, R-District 48, said the governor not only lied to voters and Republican lawmakers but also Chicago’s Cardinal Blasé Cupich. “I mean, you lied to a priest,” Mr. Breen told a local radio station. “This guy is done.” Gov. Rauner defeated the deeply-unpopular incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn in 2014 by a 50.3% to 46.4% margin. While he did an excellent job reaching out to inner city minorities of faith, his abortion decision angers the base and jeopardizes even those relationships. William J. Kelly, a television producer, is already a declared candidate for the Republican nomination, but not much of a threat. However, Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-District 42, said she “wouldn’t rule out” waging a primary challenge. State senators Sam McCann and Kyle McCarter are also on the list of potential primary candidates.)

CAPITOL FAX
— ILGOP: “When Republicans are fighting each other, Mike Madigan wins”  (DIERSEN: QUESTION: Who fights who within the Illinois Republican Party (IRP)? ANSWER: Those in the IRP who reject planks in the IRP platform, that is, Democrat plants, Libertarian plants, Green plants, and RINOs, or Group A, fight those who support those planks, or Group B. I have always been in Group B. Most commonly, Democrat plants, Libertarian plants, Green plants, and RINOs reject the traditional family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, and/or equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) planks. Most commonly, members of Group A are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors and members of Group B are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time. Members of Group A want the IRP to promote LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, race and gender based preference giving, age discrimination, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, and even worse things.)

When Republicans are fighting each other, Mike Madigan wins and Illinois loses.” But I also asked for a specific comment on Dan Proft and this is what I was told… Concerning Proft, the Illinois Republican Party has no comment at this time.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The gunman’s brother, Eric Paddock, said Stephen Paddock was a big spender at casinos and often received free rooms and meals from the casinos. He described the wealth of his multimillionaire brother as substantial, said it included real estate and that he managed property for relatives. “He was a guy who had money. He went on cruises and gambled,” Eric Paddock said, adding that Stephen Paddock recently sent a walker by mail to his 90-year-old mother in Florida. . .Stephen Paddock liked to pay high-stakes video poker, and once texted his brother that he won $250,000 at a casino. But his family didn’t know whether Stephen Paddock had significant gaming debts. NBC News reported that Stephen Paddock gambled more than $10,000 per day on multiple occasions, and in some cases amounts more than $20,000 and $30,000 at Las Vegas casinos.)

WASHINGTON POST
— Use or lose annual leave – Eric Yoder  (DIERSEN: Needless-to-say, since 1966 when I was 18 years old, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have been furious that I got 13 vacation days per year during my first 3 years as a federal employee 1966-1969, 20 days per year during my 4th through 15th years 1971-1983, and 26 days per year during my 16th through 30th year (1984-1997). The vacation days that I got during my first 3 years was only about 6 per year because I worked only about 20 hours per week on average. I should write a book about what my Democrat federal superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates did to punish me for taking vacation days. They were beyond furious when I donated unused vacation days to “federal employees facing emergencies.”)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/10/03/qa-for-federal-workers-use-or-lose-leave/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: They’re referring to the general policy that a federal employee can carry only 30 days of vacation time — what the government calls annual leave — from one year to the next. It’s not a consideration for relatively new employees, who get 13 days per year during their first three years. But the rate goes up to 20 days per year for those with between three and 15 years, and 26 days for those with 15 years or more. Unused leave accumulates year to year, but any above 30 days that an employee does not take by the end of the leave year — not a calendar year; the 2017 leave year ends Jan. 6, 2018 — is forfeited. (It can be restored for limited reasons, and some employees can carry forward more than 30 days.) Those who won’t be able to use their excess leave on time might want to consider donating it to a leave transfer program to help federal employees facing emergencies, such as those arising from the recent hurricanes.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The situation is sickeningly familiar to anyone who works on — or reads — a metropolitan daily newspaper, whether it’s in New Orleans, Detroit or just about any other American city. The paper is hurting financially. It cuts reporters, photographers and editors to make ends meet. Then it cuts even deeper. The journalism suffers, but the paper’s work is still vital to its community. And a question looms: Will it even survive the next decade? “The real crisis in American journalism is at the local and metro level,” says Jim Friedlich, executive director of the Lenfest Institute for Journalism in Philadelphia, founded last year to save local journalism in Philadelphia and spread the cure around the nation. With the death of their old business model — based on once-plentiful print advertising — newsrooms are trying something new, he said. Like never before, they are turning to philanthropic sources and community support for sustenance.)

While I was in high school, many, if not most, if not virtually everyone viewed me as NOT being “college material.” Neither of my parents had attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. I spent my junior and senior years and the summer in between washing dishes for the minimum wage in the basement of the S.S. Kresges in Chicago Heights. I just barely made into the top 20% of my class, my ACT score was only 24, and I was draft bait.)

— Conservative Kelly Replaces Rauner at Annual Southwest Republican Family Picnic

(FROM THE ARTICLE: After his vote on HB40 which mandates taxpayer-funded abortions in Illinois, Bruce Rauner was publicly disinvited from the Annual Southwest Republican Family Picnic by Commission Sean Morrison Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Palos Park GOP. In Rauner’s place, Rauner’s conservative opponent in the Republican primary, William J. Kelly, took his place. “I took pro-sanctuary state, pro-taxpayer-funded abortion traitor Bruce Rauner’s place at the Southwest Republican picnic and I will take his place across Illinois, including the Illinois Governor’s office,” Kelly said. Our pro-sanctuary state, pro-abortion Governor was too cowardly to face this crowd.” “Everybody at the picnic told me they were voting for me and if Rauner had showed himself, he would have been booed out of the park. They’re right.” Kelly added. Kelly announced his campaign for Governor in May, when GOP leaders were silent on Rauner. Kelly has publicly opposed Rauner’s taxpayer-funding of Planned Parenthood, his bill forcing Christian doctors to promote abortion, his sanctuary state bill, and HB40.)

Nevertheless, a) my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. Constructively, for the last 20 years, GAO has forced the Civil Service Retirement System to pay me $50,856/year or $1,017,120 in today’s dollars to stay home and to not come to work.)
