DAILY CALLER
— No Amnesty Is Good Amnesty – Ann Coulter (DIERSEN: Those who promote amnesty say that those who oppose amnesty are White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things.)
http://dailycaller.com/2017/09/13/coulter-no-amnesty-is-good-amnesty/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Donald Trump is being told that amnesty for “Dreamers,” or DACA recipients, will only apply to a small, narrowly defined group of totally innocent, eminently deserving illegal immigrants, who were brought to this country “through no fault of their own” as “children.” (Children who are up to 36 years old.) Every syllable of that claim is a lie, and I can prove it. To see how DACA will actually work, let’s look at another extremely limited amnesty that was passed in 1986. Farmers wanted temporary guest-worker permits for their cheap labor, so that they could continue pretending that the Industrial Revolution never happened and refuse to mechanize. (And, boy, did that work! We haven’t heard a peep about “crops rotting in the fields” since then. The agricultural amnesty was supposed to apply to — at most — 350,000 illegal aliens. It would be available only to illegals who were currently in the country doing the back-breaking farm work that no American would do. Without them, crops would wither on the vine. They were saving us from starvation! Talk about deserving. Are any Dreamers saving us from starvation? But instead of guest-worker permits, then-Rep. Charles Schumer — from the lush farmland of Brooklyn — decided to grant full amnesty to any illegals who had done farm work for at least 90 days in the previous year. That’s pretty restrictive, isn’t it? In the end, “up to 350,000 farm workers” turned into 1.3 million. Oh well, what are you going to do? No use worrying — let’s just move forward and get all these people voter registration cards! This innocent little amnesty for a small, clearly defined group of illegals quickly became amnesty for anyone who applied. The same thing will happen with any other amnesty, no matter how strictly the law is written. (And it won’t be written strictly.) In the first few years of the agricultural amnesty, internal Immigration and Naturalization Service statistics showed that 888,637 legalization applications were fraudulent. According to immigration agents, “farm workers” stated in their interviews that cotton was purple or that they had pulled cherries from the ground. Of the 888,637 fraudulent applications, guess how many our government approved. Answer: More than 800,000. The agricultural amnesty was so carefully administered that not one, but TWO of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers were in this country because of it. (More on that in another column.) The main problem with the farm worker amnesty, the DACA amnesty or any amnesty is that everyone involved in the entire immigration apparatus is feverishly working, on the taxpayer’s dime, to transform this country into a Third World hellhole. Lawyers for La Raza and lawyers for the government both believe it is their mission to humiliate and destroy white Christian America. (Actually, this country is “biracial Christian America,” plus a few Amerindians and anyone else who assimilated to Western European culture.) There are multitudes of them, and they will never, ever stop. Congress could pass a law granting amnesty to any 7-foot-tall, left-handed, red-headed illegal aliens from Lichtenstein — and hundreds of left-wing outfits would instantly set to work, demanding amnesty for witch doctors, cannibals, pederasts, terrorists and the rest of the multicultural universe that makes America so vibrant. On the other side of the application process would be government immigration bureaucrats who either used to work at La Raza, or hope to in the future. On the off chance that some particularly risible amnesty application is denied by a stodgy rules-follower in our immigration bureaucracy, that denial will be litigated before a federal judge in Hawaii, then appealed to the Ninth Circuit. For two decades after the 1986 amnesty, the federal courts were tied up with dozens of class-action lawsuits brought on behalf of illegal aliens — regular illegal aliens, farm worker illegal aliens and still-in-Mexico illegal aliens — challenging every aspect of the law. Is that how American tax dollars should be spent? On endless litigation, brought by America-hating activists on behalf of people who have no right to be in our country and decided by Democrat-appointed judges? (Who are also America-hating activists.) And when their work is done, there will be a lot more Democrat-appointed judges because there will be a lot more Democrats. Lawyers sued over everything — the absence of Creole interpreters, the requirement that illegals have proof of prior farm work and the rare denials of amnesty. Congress desperately tried passing laws that would prevent courts from hearing these cases — all to no avail. Left-wing lawyers just had to pick the right judge, and they won. In 2005 — nearly 20 years after the 1986 amnesty — the Ninth Circuit was still granting amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who claimed they had been unfairly denied because they were not in the country for the first amnesty. Seriously. No matter how the law is written, as long as anyone is eligible for amnesty, everybody’s getting amnesty. President Trump is the last president who will ever have a chance to make the right decision on immigration. After this, it’s over. The boat will have sailed. If he succeeds, all the p@ssy-grabbing and Russia nonsense will burn off like a morning fog. He will be the president who saved the American nation, its character, its sovereignty, its core identity. But if he fails, Donald Trump will go down in history as the man who killed America.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Who wants to deport “dreamers”? Not many people, it turns out. Even veteran immigration restrictionists seem willing to legalize this subset of undocumented immigrants if it is part of a package deal. That’s true even though a lot of what’s said about the dreamers is PR-style hooey. For example, it’s often said — indeed, former president Barack Obama just recently said — that the approximately 690,000 dreamers were “brought to this country by their parents.” Well, many were. But that’s not required to qualify as a protected dreamer under the various plans, including Obama’s. You just have to have entered the country illegally before age 16. You could have decided to sneak in against your parents’ wishes. You’re still a dreamer! Likewise, we’re told dreamers are college-bound high school grads or military personnel. That’s an exaggeration. All that’s actually required is that the dreamer enroll in a high school course or an “alternative,” including online courses and English-as-a-second-language classes. Under Obama’s now-suspended program, you didn’t even have to stay enrolled. Compared with the general population, dreamers are not especially highly skilled. A recent survey for several pro-dreamer groups, with participants recruited by those groups, found that while most dreamers are not in school, the vast majority work. But their median hourly wage is only $15.34, meaning that many are competing with hard-pressed lower-skilled Americans. The dreamers you read about have typically been carefully selected for their appeal. They’re valedictorians. They’re first responders. They’re curing diseases. They root for the Yankees. They want to serve in the Army. If dreamers are the poster children for the much larger undocumented population, these are the poster children for the poster children. Still, taking the dreamers as a whole, not just the dreamiest of them, they represent an appealing group of would-be citizens. So why not show compassion and legalize them? Because, as is often the case, the pursuit of pure compassion comes with harmful side effects. First, it would create perverse incentives. Can you imagine a stronger incentive for illegal immigration than the idea that if you sneak into the country your kids will get to be U.S. citizens? Sure, the protections don’t currently apply to recent entrants — under Obama’s plan, you had to have come before 2007. But those dates can be changed — Obama himself tried to do it once. And the rationale for rewarding those who arrive when young — that they’re here through “no fault of their own” and know only America, etc. — can apply on into the future, with no apparent stopping point. What about the poor kids who came in 2008? 2018? There’s a reason no country has a rule that if you sneak in as a minor, you’re a citizen. We’d be inviting the world. Second, it would have knock-on effects. Under “chain migration” rules established in 1965 — ironically as a sop to conservatives, who foolishly thought that they’d boost European inflows — new citizens can bring in their siblings and adult children, who can bring in their siblings and in-laws, until whole villages have moved to the United States. That means today’s 690,000 dreamers would quickly become millions of newcomers, who may well be low-skilled and who would almost certainly include the parents who brought them — the ones who, in theory, are at fault. There are obvious, sensible ways to control these side effects. Pair any dreamer amnesty with a major upgrade to our system to prevent a new undocumented wave — such as a mandatory extension of E-Verify, the system that lets employers check on the legal status of hires. Curtail the right to bring in distant relatives. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) has proposed such a compromise — and it would be easy to compromise on his compromise, say by cutting back on chain migration only by the number of people that the new Dream Act adds to the citizenry. The president could declare a one-time act of mercy for those who came here during the pre-Trump Era of Laxity, but make clear the game was changed for future entrants. Why wouldn’t Democrats jump at such a deal? For years they’ve been touting “comprehensive immigration reform,” a mix of amnesty with stepped-up enforcement to prevent another undocumented surge. But the Dream Act is uncomprehensive. It’s all amnesty, no prevention — let alone any compensating reduction in legal inflows. It’s hard to avoid the thought that Democrats (and Republicans who support the Dream Act) aren’t really interested in preventing illegal inflows. They’re not inclined to take Cotton up on his deal because they don’t think they have to. If they win, we’ll get the compassion without dealing with its consequences. That would be especially unfortunate given the signs that Trump’s immigration crackdown, simply stepping up enforcement of current laws, is already helping to tighten the low end of the labor market and boost wages of low-skilled workers. News organizations are featuring stories from employers who aren’t getting their usual supply of undocumented workers and are forced to take radical measures — such as raising wages. Proof of this connection, in the public mind, may be what terrifies the pro-immigration lobby the most.)

— Trump supporter joins run against Rauner – Tom Kacich  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Rauner and his supporters paint themselves as being anti-Trump, that is, as being anti-Republican, especially concerning immigration. What do you say to anti-Trumps who have advised Rauner, or who will advise Rauner, to destroy Kelly, to destroy Tranchant, and to destroy any individual, any organization, and any company that might support Kelly/Tranchant?  Have the anti-Trumps advised, or will they advise, Rauner to destroy Republican Precinct Committeemen like me who have a policy of circulating nominating petitions for ALL Republican candidates?  I should write a book about RINO, Democrat plant, Libertarian plant, and Green plant candidates, their operatives, and their dupes who focus on destroying me because circulated petitions for their Republican opponents.)
http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2017-09-10/tom-kacich-trump-supporter-joins-run-against-rauner.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: And Ray Tranchant of Catlin is the lieutenant governor candidate on what may be an even longer shot: Chicagoan William Kelly’s intraparty challenge to Gov. Bruce Rauner. Tranchant is a Navy veteran and a supporter of President Trump who said he has never run for office before. The two big reasons he wants to serve with Kelly, he said, are fiscal responsibility and illegal immigration. Tranchant, whose 16-year-old daughter Tessa was killed by an illegal immigrant from Mexico in an auto accident 10 years ago in Virginia Beach, Va., said he is particularly upset by Rauner’s decision last month to sign the Illinois TRUST Act, which restricts local law enforcement from collaborating with federal immigration agents to detain anyone unless the federal officials have a warrant. Tranchant called the legislation “a sanctuary bill” that would protect hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in the Chicago area who now, he predicted, will move downstate. “We believe that they’re going to get out of there (Chicago), mainly come here, look for jobs and get aid and live in a better and safer environment,” said Tranchant, who said he “is in his early 60s” and had retained his Illinois residency even while in the military. “That’s going to cost our schools and services a lot of money. We don’t think it’s good.” Kelly, a conservative radio host in the Chicago area, called Rauner “the new Judas of the Republican Party” for signing the immigration legislation. “Today, unlike Bruce Rauner, we stand proudly with President Trump and the federal government,” Kelly said last week. “I will recall Rauner by defeating him in the 2018 GOP primary and repeal Illinois’ sanctuary state status by executive order. As governor, my first act will be to recognize the federal government’s exclusive power to make and enforce immigration law.” Tranchant said he also was upset with Rauner for allowing the state to operate without a budget for more than two years. “That hurts the state of Illinois as well,” said Tranchant. “Many of my friends who are Democrats voted for him because they wanted a change and they didn’t want the same old incestuous relationship that (former Gov.) Pat Quinn had with (House Speaker Michael) Madigan. We figured this guy was just like Trump, would make a difference, and so far, all he’s done is isolated himself and refused to do things.” In order to get on the ballot, Kelly, Tranchant and their allies will have to collect 5,000 to 10,000 signatures between now and early December. “We’ll get the 5,000 signatures,” Tranchant deadpanned. “I’ve got that many friends on Facebook.”)

If you do not like certain planks in the platform, you should try to get them changed. Of course, those who reject the traditional family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and other planks in the Republican Party platform work against me. Of course, those who promote dependency on government and charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, and even worse things work against me.  They say that “the platform is the problem.”)
http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2017/09/09/michigan-republican-party-mackinac-conference-president-donald-trump/645799001/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Donald Trump has been using Twitter to attack Republican legislative leaders over their failure to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Last week, Trump blindsided members of his own party when he cut a controversial deal with the Democrats to raise the debt ceiling and fund hurricane relief. Distractions resulting from an ongoing and wide-ranging investigation by special counsel and former FBI director Robert Mueller threaten to further derail the Republican agenda, including the promise of corporate and personal income tax cuts. Controversies surrounding the Republican president are captivating the country — and the world — and have some Republicans worried about how they will affect party fortunes in congressional midterms and other elections in 2018. But don’t look for those topics to be on the agenda when about 2,000 Republicans from Michigan and across the nation gather on Mackinac Island Sept. 22-24 for the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference — a major policy confab held every two years. Party leaders say the conference will be all about unity, and the focus will be on what’s happening in Michigan — not Washington, D.C. “As a party, we support the president — we support his policies,” Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ron Weiser said in an interview. “I don’t think there’s going to be any kind of controversy.” Tax reform, repeal and replace of Obamacare, immigration and infrastructure “are important and worthy of conversations,” said state party spokeswoman Sarah Anderson. But “unfortunately, we have a limited time for the conference, so there wasn’t a space for panels on those issues.” In addition to Gov. Rick Snyder, other state Republican leaders and members of Congress, speakers will include Trump loyalists such as Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens and U.S. Education Secretary and west Michigan businesswoman Betsy DeVos. Panel sessions will feature topics such as the influence of women in the party, successful Michigan business leaders, the news media, and “Michigan leading the nation” in terms of domestic policies and job creation. Though he comes from a neighboring state and is maintaining a high profile after his unsuccessful bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, don’t look for Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a frequent Trump critic, to be taking a ferry across the Straits of Mackinac. The emphasis on unity is reflected in the conference theme, “Together We Rise.” The agenda, which is still being finalized, also includes former Michigan Gov. John Engler and former Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz, who chaired the House oversight committee and is now a Fox News contributor. Organizers had hoped U.S. Vice President Mike Pence would be among the speakers, but he is unable to attend due to security complications, Weiser said.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Clearly black people have been written off by the Democratic Party,” Scott writes. “Institutional racism has led to an underclass of black people who have been locked out of the ‘dream’ this DACA group is given support and resources to pursue. The narrative now is we can’t do without these illegal immigrants!” For decades, black folks have sought sanctuary from the ceaseless gun violence ravaging our neighborhoods. We desperately crave refuge from the long march of black men who have been murdered and maimed by police brutality and misconduct, as our political “leaders” looked the other way. Black folks vainly seek salvation from economically crippled communities where poverty is pervasive and economic options are slim to none. Black people don’t begrudge help for their immigrant brothers and sisters. People of color are in this together, striving and sweating under the vicious heel of bigotry. But black voters, the Democratic Party’s most loyal constituency, wonder: What about sanctuary for us?)

September 3 Morning Edition

SPRINGFIELD STATE JOURNAL REGISTER
— Calling all candidates – Editorial (DIERSEN: In Illinois, you should run as a Republican only if you can and if you will defend and advance the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.  Illinois Republicans should defeat primary candidates who have acted against the IRP platform and/or who hint/imply/argue/shout that they will act against the IRP platform if elected/reelected. One could argue that because Rauner and his supporters act against more and more and more planks in the IRP platform, Rauner and his supporters should run as Independents.)
http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20170902/our-view-calling-all-candidates
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Help Wanted: Seeking numerous people for often thankless job. Must be willing to work ridiculously long hours, be criticized by those also seeking this position, and be enthusiastic about shaking hands and kissing babies. Successful candidates will be able to raise significant amounts of money on a daily basis, keep their composure even when being yelled at, and be willing to defend every statement or idea they’ve ever shared. When considering the negative, it’s a wonder anyone runs for public office. But the positives can outweigh the negatives, especially for those who truly seek to be an agent for change in order to improve the lives of friends and neighbors, or who want to be a part of public policy decisions that right wrongs or benefit more people. It is those people — the ones who want to better their communities — we hope to see run for office in 2018. Besides the six statewide constitutional offices, all 18 of Illinois’ districts in Congress, 39 of the 59 seats in the state Senate and all 118 seats in the Illinois House are on the ballot. So are a number of county seats, including clerks, treasurers, sheriffs, assessors and county board members; regional superintendents of schools; and some judgeships. The 2018 election may have already seemed to be in full swing, largely because the race for governor has been prominent since the beginning of the year. But the actual kick-off to next year’s election starts Tuesday, if you go by the first date listed in the state Election Board’s 2018 Election and Campaign Finance Calendar. Sept. 5 marks the first day those from established political parties can begin circulating nomination papers to get their name on the ballot. Those nominating petitions you may be asked to sign in the coming weeks can’t be filed until Nov. 27 to Dec. 4, at which point the March 20 primary races will start to come into focus. It’s safe to assume there will be a Democratic primary race for governor, given that nine people have declared their intent to run. It’s possible on the Republican side, although a serious challenger has yet to emerge.)

THE HILL
— It’s time to build the wall and fix our immigration system – NED RYUN
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/348995-its-time-to-build-the-wall-and-fix-our-immigration-system
(FROM THE ARTICLE: With President Trump likely to undo Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) next week, it highlights yet again that our immigration system is fundamentally broken. Our system of admittance is a decades old program based largely on nepotism and family ties, rather than any logical system of governance that benefits Americans. Rather than recruiting and attracting the best talent from other countries, our immigration system prioritizes bringing entire families. Combine this with our costly policies that allow illegal immigration across our southern border and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Jim Acosta’s press conference temper tantrum demonstrated a number of Americans no longer realize why a country would even control the flow of immigration. They stammer and stomp their feet about what they believe America stands for, but unfortunately are entirely uninformed on the history of American immigration policy. During the 19th century, America largely had an open immigration policy as the country expanded and moved west, although, individual restrictions were placed on contract laborers, criminals, and in some cases entire countries. Those immigration laws were rewritten over the last century to implement greater controls over America’s immigration policies. These controls are especially necessary as progressives created greater and greater welfare programs. Like it or not, we are a welfare society. Whether it’s healthcare, social security, unemployment, housing, or any of the other myriad of benefits Americans receive. Just Social Security and Medicare make up nearly 40 percent of the federal budget. Throw in Medicaid and you’re getting close to 50 percent. Naturalizing more citizens and enrolling more individuals with green cards further encumbers our welfare system. We know our welfare system is hugely overburdened and threatens to be entirely insolvent by within 20 years. Thankfully, reforms in 1996 prevented those with green cards from receiving many federal benefits until they have lived in the country for at least five years and met work requirements, but we cannot pretend like admitting more people into the country has no effect. The legislation recently introduced in the Senate, named the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE) bill, is not some racist screed. It’s a clear, point based immigration system, very similar to systems already in place in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Rather than admit people based on the luck of the draw or ties to family already in the country, the RAISE system grades specific qualities that are valuable for our society. That means more young, highly educated, fiscally prepared individuals that are likely to integrate well into American society. This merit based system would help attract some of the best talent from around the world to come to our country and become Americans. But unfortunately that’s just not enough to deal with our immigration problems. Without serious proposals that actually build a wall on our southern border, problems will just continue. When you hear the Democrats talk about the new plan for President Trump’s border wall, you’d be forgiven if you thought they were the party of fiscal restraint and responsible spending. They’re breaking out the apocalyptic language to call into question the need to secure America’s borders or do anything to prevent the stream of illegal immigrants. Which is ironic given the fact that roughly ten years ago, three Democrat Senators by the names of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden voted to fund the Yuma Sector Wall to stop the flow of illegal crossings (and now Yuma has seen a 70 percent decrease in illegal crossings since 2006). There are many costs involved with illegals coming into our country, from our education and health care systems to our welfare systems, but we cannot forget that one of the largest financial strains from increased illegal immigration is the increased cost for law enforcement and incarceration. Consider the Government Accountability Office’s study from 2011 in which 251,000 criminal illegals were found to have committed on average twelve crimes and been arrested on average seven times: hardly the best use of our law enforcement. That same study showed another interesting fact: 68 percent of the criminal illegals sitting in federal prison and 66 percent sitting in state prison were from one country: Mexico. In addition to law enforcement resources dedicated to repeatedly arresting the same criminal illegals, the cost to incarcerate criminal illegals is nearly two billion in some years: a study shows Americans paid $1.87 billion to “house imprisoned illegal immigrants in fiscal year 2014.” As more criminal illegals cross the border, that number will only increase. Those crimes not only harm Americans (and a great number of legal immigrants) but also sap valuable time from police officers. In California, thousands of prisoners were released early to make room for the tens of thousands of criminal illegal immigrants, which number over 72,000. This criminal element coming across the border also exacerbates the drug epidemic sweeping the country. Compare these annual costs of law enforcement work and incarceration costs to the cost of a wall, which some think for a wall of 1,250 miles could be as high as $21.5 billion. Considering our annual ongoing costs of dealing with criminal illegals alone and that still looks like a bargain. As much as media elites want to pretend otherwise, this common-sense policy approach with changing our immigration system and building a wall would protect American citizens and make America stronger by enticing the best workers in the world to immigrate by modernizing the system.)

POLITICO
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Those who promote DACA argue that DREAMers should get sympathy because their parents brought them to America before they were adults. Should those like me get sympathy because their parents raised them to be Missouri Synod Lutheran (MSL), conservative, Republican, and/or American? Should those like me get sympathy because their parents are German American and/or because their ancestors came to America while slavery was still legal? Should those like me get sympathy because they were born White and/or male?  Were it not for my parents, I might very well be the following like more and more and more people are: anti-Trump, anti-MSL, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.

Especially since 2000, they have had great success in destroying the IRP. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend their platform. Most commonly, those in the “center” are Democrat plants, Libertarian plants, and Green plants. Most commonly, they reject the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the IRP platform. Most commonly, they promote LGBTQ activity, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices. In Illinois, if you got elected or appointed to a government office or to a political office as a Republican, if you have not, and/or, if you will not defend and advance the IRP platform, you should immediately resign.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Things could heat up even more if Rauner signs a pending bill to guarantee abortion coverage for women on Medicaid and state employees. Doing so might infuriate much of the political right, but that didn’t stop the governor from recently signing an almost-as-controversial “motor voter” registration measure and a bill limiting the ability of local police to arrest immigrants who are in the country illegally. . .Such events sparked personal complaints to Rauner from Jim Durkin and Bill Brady, the GOP leaders of the Illinois House and Senate. In a meeting with him on Aug. 23, both complained about attacks on their members and asked him to step in, four sources close to the matter tell me. Durkin and Brady’s spokeswomen declined to comment on what they categorized as a private meeting. But in the wake of that get-together, the Proft group moved to run its own legislative operation without Rauner, sources close to the matter tell me. And Rauner began veering to the left on key legislative matters, notably praising the schools bill that he’s spent a month ripping as a “bailout” of Chicago Public Schools. Another source tells me some of the conservatives met a few days ago with Diana Rauner, the governor’s wife, in what is described as a “very difficult” session. At the moment, Rauner has no known opponent in the GOP primary. But this nasty divorce could play out in unexpected ways. One veteran GOP operative says it’s not quite clear who’s doing what. But other outside political consultants brought in by Rauner when Zolnierowicz left likely have told him that, in Democratic-leaning Illinois, it’s smarter to act like former GOP Gov. Jim Thompson and Jim Edgar. Rauner himself may not know. But continue to look for more rolling-pin-wielding in his bumpy marriage with the GOP’s hard right.)

My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. — ILLINOIS: WORTH FIGHTING FOR?

— Carl Segvich Comment
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2017/08/il-gop-warns-not-to-believe-misinformation-circulating-about-immigration-law.html
(THE COMMENT: Repute REPUGNANT “republican” Rauner as a DOUBLE AGENT Political Miasma The Republican Party of the 11th Ward of Chicago repudiates Bruce Rauner as a Democratic Party shill. RAUNER IS AN INFILTRATOR, a party-crasher working for the Democratic Party. The Democrat Party employs this Machiavellian strategy for decades. It is not just because he signed the Trust bill (SB31). He also promotes Islam over Christianity regarding advisers in Springfield. He is pro abortion. He also signed The Automatic Voter Registration Law, which makes our government automatically register anyone who updates their drivers license or state ID, as a voter. Bruce who amongst many lies, also said he wasn’t going to be involved in social issues, supports the deranged concept of “homosexual marriage”. Furthermore, public record shows that Bruce has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to several liberal Democrats such as Richard M. Daley, Ed Rendell, the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. He is married to a liberal female who worked for Barack Obama, and brags that she and her husband Bruce are social justice warriors. The Republican Party of the shamelessly and notoriously corrupt 11th Ward of Chicago declares Bruce Rauner as a political cancer that has metastasized from Chicago throughout our United States of America, via the political schooling of the massively corrupt Daley family. Of course, this is all with nefarious collaboration of the Chicago press. Our United States of America is in her second civil war, although it is rather silent; Liberals are annihilating us Conservatives. We despise Bruce Rauner as repugnant and everything that is wrong with USA, politically. TRUST us. Carl Segvich – 11th Ward Republican Party Committeeman, Chicago)
— John F. Di Leo Comment
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2017/08/il-gop-warns-not-to-believe-misinformation-circulating-about-immigration-law.html
(THE COMMENT: We need a real conservative Republican candidate for Governor in this primary. One with some kind of elective office experience, as a decent size city mayor, or as a county chairman or sheriff, something like that, if we don’t have a good congressman or state legislator to run. Rauner will be defeated next November if he gets the nomination. This is just a fact, not just a wish. He maintained the tolerance of the GOP base until this summer, but his several capitulations this summer have killed whatever good will he had built up in the GOP. There is no reason for us to be enthused with him next November, so he cannot win. The GOP needs to recognize what it failed to recognize with the Mark Kirk seat in 2016 and the Percy seat in 1984: sometimes a candidate is lost before the election even arrives, so your best bet is to find some good new blood to run in the primary. We should’ve run Corcoran in 1984. We should’ve run Jack Ryan in 2004. We should’ve run James Marter in 2016 (or found a county chairman or sheriff to run instead)…Our only hope of saving the executive mansion – for this critical term that contains the next redistricting map – is if someone other than Bruce Rauner is the GOP nominee.)
— THORNER/O’NEIL: POWERFUL ‘RESISTANCE’ FORCES DETERMINED TO “DESTROY TRUMP”  (DIERSEN: Are you a Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain in Illinois? If so, how are you going to react if those above you in the Illinois Republican Party ask/demand that you to help them destroy Trump and to destroy his supporters?)

ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE
— A Clear Reading of SB 31 Reveals Illinois is Now a Sanctuary State – John Biver
https://illinoisfamily.org/politics/clear-reading-sb-31-reveals-illinois-now-sanctuary-state/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It is not difficult to understand the long-running dream of Leftists to import more future Democratic Party voters from other countries. Some of their most loyal supporters will be those who broke federal law to come here and were then protected by the Democratic Party. Leftists are talented when it comes to the strategic manipulation of language. Just as centuries-old mainline Christian doctrine is now referred to as “hate,” illegal aliens are referred to as “undocumented immigrants.” Tolerance now means intolerance. The “Affordable Care Act” made health insurance unaffordable for millions of Americans. The “Trust Act” means you can trust that we don’t care if you’re here illegally. As “blue” as Illinois is, Democratic Party leaders and their supporters know that even here you must be careful with language. And if you alter SB 31 enough, you can even deny it’s a sanctuary bill. Some people are upset that the ruse didn’t work.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: On a side note: As an Illinois resident, I am so proud to have a pretend-Republican governor who believes being a sanctuary state is the way to go. As Illinois chases away taxpayers and businesses with higher taxes, he welcomes in more illegal immigrants. That will obviously help Illinois. Our politicians are so brilliant in Illinois that we have a 16% maximum estate tax while many states have zero. It seems to be above the comprehension of Madigan and others to understand why the wealthy move away or won’t come to spend and invest their money here. It is such a tough concept to understand. Does Rauner think Madigan, Emanuel, other Democrats and reporters will now be more receptive to Rauner and will support him in the next election, because he welcomes people willing to break our immigration laws?)

If I had been a veteran, my Democrat GAO superiors would NOT have forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, would NOT have always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, would have promoted me beyond GS-13, would NOT have kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and would NOT have forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  If I had been a veteran, my Democrat IRS superiors would have promoted me beyond GS-12, they would NOT have disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and they would NOT have disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. If I had been a veteran, my Democrat Post Office superiors would NOT have forced me resign in 1969 and they would NOT have disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

ILLINOIS REVIEW
— IL GOP WARNS NOT TO BELIEVE “MISINFORMATION” CIRCULATING ABOUT IMMIGRATION LAW
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2017/08/il-gop-warns-not-to-believe-misinformation-circulating-about-immigration-law.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois Republican Party leaders are being told that the bill Governor Rauner signed into law Monday concerning how state and local law enforcement are to deal with non-citizens is really no big deal and not to overreact. They say some media and “other influencers” are not being truthful with party members and conservatives about what the new law does. The misleading sources say the law is to protect those in Illinois that are in America illegally by banning contact between local law enforcement and federal immigration officials unless local law enforcement has been notified of a federal criminal warrant concerning the illegal. In addition, local and state law enforcement are protected from accountability if a person they didn’t detain due to illegal status commits a crime. But that’s not accurate, the ILGOP leadership says. Effingham area’s Brian Milleville says the email was disturbing and confusing to most he’s talked to. When asked for a comment, Milleville told Illinois Review,  “I can only comment right now on what former law enforcement officers both state and local, in-state and out-state have told me. That is that this law does nothing but thwart federal law and endanger the citizens of Illinois in the name of political correctness and political pandering.” “I also know, based on what others have told me in response to SB31,” Milleville said, “that yesterday was the day Rauner officially lost his re-election.” “it’s our job to make sure” the governor succeeds, IL GOP Chairman Tim Schneider (also a Cook County Board Member) and IL GOP County Chairmen Association’s President Randy Pollard (also Rauner’s Downstate Chairman) wrote in and email sent out Monday night:)

ILLINOIS BUSINESS IMMIGRATION COALITION
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Those individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that reject the immigration plank in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform crow over Rauner’s signing SB 31. If you got elected or appointed to a government office or a political office in Illinois as a Republican, and if you take any kind of action against the IRP platform, you should resign immediately. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.

(FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT: We thank Governor Bruce Rauner, SB 31 Chief sponsors Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton and State Representative Emanuel “Chris” Welch; GOP leaders Christine Radogno, Bob Pritchard; co-sponsors Representatives Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez and Theresa Mah, Senators Martin Sandoval, Don Harmon, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, Illinois Sheriffs Association, and many stakeholders for achieving this smart, sensible policy for our state. We congratulate the Campaign for a Welcoming Illinois for their leadership on the Trust Act.)

REAL GOP ILLINOIS
— ANTI-AMERICAN: Rauner approves $1M grant for group behind sanctuary state bill
https://realgopillinois.com/2017/08/29/rauner-approves-million-dollar-grant-sanctuary-state-coalition/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s official: thanks to GOVERNOR BRUCE RAUNER, Illinois is now a sanctuary state. Rauner signed SB31 into law Monday morning, surrounded by a coalition of open border groups, proudly undocumented immigrants and Democrat officials. Over the weekend, Rauner also signed two other popular Democrat bills – an automatic voter registration bill and a gender ID bill, which allows transgender people to change the gender on their birth certificates. Rauner’s allies getting the heat for sanctuary state bill  Rauner’s conservative allies can no longer claim the Governor is a conservative – but will they still support him after this betrayal of principle? As more conservative voters learn of Rauner’s betrayal, they are taking to social media to express their outrage and anger. The outrage is quickly spilling over at Rauner’s supporters. Rauner’s allies know the sanctuary state time bomb has been detonated and they’ve been hit with the shrapnel. The wounds are deep. They will not heal. There’s more. Rauner Administration doled out $1 million to immigrant group behind SB31. An investigation by Real GOP Illinois reveals that the Rauner Administration continued to pay a state grant of nearly $1 million dollars to the group who pushed the sanctuary state bill, SB31. The group, ILLINOIS COALITION FOR IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE RIGHTS, was approved to receive more than $956,000 in state funds and received more than $500,000 in funds approved by the Rauner Administration despite the budget impasse. Look….Governor approved these amounts in 2015: 8/17/2015 – $148,119.21, 8/11/2015 – $187, 368.70, and 8/11/2017- $134,907.66 . . . The Rauner Administration also approved $684,000 in state grants for a group called MIGRANT EDUCATION, INC. . . . What is Migrant Education, Inc. anyway?  How horrible is Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights? The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights is a group that promotes open borders. Why is it receiving any state money when Illinois’ debt backlog exceeds $14 billion. In 2013, the group also spearheaded the bipartisan legislation to allow undocumented immigrants to get Illinois driver’s licenses. With Rauner’s approval of automatic voter legislation, the stage is set for large-scale voter fraud. With a Republican Governor like Rauner, who needs a Democrat?)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Rauner dumps recently rebuilt press team following missteps, cartoon controversy – Rick Pearson, Monique Garcia and Kim Geiger  (DIERSEN: Who exactly are the “enemies” that Rauner refers to?  Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs shout at Rauner that his enemies are those like me who promote the Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party platform, and the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling. They shout at Rauner that his worst enemies are those like me who promote the traditional family, right to life, immigration, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and other planks.  They shout at Rauner that his worst enemies are those like me who oppose patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and vices including booze, gambling, and pot. They shout at Rauner that he should not read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-bruce-rauner-staff-shakeup-met-0825-20170824-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Later in the day, at an event in Naperville, Rauner acknowledged the difficulty of working in government. “The work that we do for the people of Illinois is incredibly difficult and very stressful. It’s a burnout, high stress, it’s hard on people’s families,” the wealthy former equity investor told reporters. As for what he feels is his repeated difficulty in getting his message out, Rauner called the communications effort “incredibly hard because we have attacks, we have political attacks coming 20 times a day, we have social media attacks coming 100 times a day, we have false rumors planted that have to be dealt with or responded to” in addition to “legitimate questions” from the media. “It is really hard, really hard, and we need to do all that while also getting out the message about the positive changes that we are trying to drive and the wonderful work that we’re doing on a bipartisan basis, wonderful legislation that we’ve been able to achieve,” he said. But in the earlier conference call to staff, Rauner maintained there was a larger, even more encompassing messaging mission — the need to counter his “enemies.” “The reality is in addition to the enemies on the other side of the aisle (Democrats), we have enemies in the media and enemies who should be on our side, some of them former members of the administration,” the source recounted Rauner as saying.)

— Rauner Shakes Off Staff in Latest Upheaval – Amanda Vinicky (DIERSEN: Rauner says he does “not lean on” the Illinois Policy Institute. Rauner should “lean on” the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. Because Rauner ran as a Republican and got elected as a Republican in Illinois, Rauner obligated himself to defend and advance the IRP platform.)

http://video.wttw.com/video/3004092740/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Despite reporters repeatedly asking him Thursday whether he finds the cartoon racist, Rauner would only say he understands why “some people are upset by it.” “I’m not apologizin’ for anything that I have nothing to do with. Let me be crystal clear. And that organization (the IPI) that did that cartoon, they should talk to you about what their views are on it, and I’m not gonna,” he said. “I have fought for racial justice, equality of opportunity, my whole life.” Despite being a previous donor to the IPI and close ties to John Tillman, the intitute’s chief executive, Rauner denied the assertion that it’s his “go-to think tank.” “A tiny fraction of our administration is from that organization,” he said. “And they in no regard, in no regard, does that organization speak for me or our administration, and I do not lean on them for any particular issue or policy.”)

THE BLAZE
— The SPLC calls Christians a “hate group.” Now, Christians are fighting back. – Aaron Colen
http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/08/24/the-splc-calls-christians-a-hate-group-now-christians-are-fighting-back/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Southern Poverty Law Center has been trying to marginalize Christian beliefs for a while. Now, Christians are pushing back.
D. James Kennedy Ministries in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has sued the SPLC for labeling it as an “active hate group” because it holds to traditional Christian views on homosexuality and marriage. Why would a Christian ministry be a hate group? As sexual orientation and gender identity have become “civil rights” issues on the front lines of the culture wars in the United States, people and organizations, particularly churches, that do not support LGBTQ lifestyles are increasingly under fire from mainstream media and organizations like the SPLC, who claim these religiously-based beliefs are bigoted and discriminatory. Christianity, at its core, is about love. By designating a Christian organization as a hate group, the SPLC is pursuing a culture in which disagreement with the mainstream equals hate. “It’s completely disingenuous to tag D. James Kennedy Ministries as a hate group alongside the KKK and neo-Nazis,” Kennedy Ministries spokesman John Rabe said to Fox News. “We desire all people, with no exceptions, to receive the love of Christ and his forgiveness and healing. We unequivocally condemn violence, and we hate no one. “It’s nothing more than an attempt to bulldoze over those who disagree with them, and it has a chilling effect on the free exercise of religion in a nation built on that,” Rabe continued. “We decided not to let their falsehoods stand.” I’ve never heard of D. James Kennedy. Why should I care? The SPLC’s attacks on Christian organizations are significant to all Christians. The SPLC has a storied history of taking up noble causes and using the law to bring justice and fight legitimate hate. The SPLC did significant damage to the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s, for example. Because of that history, the SPLC is an influential voice in shaping public perception of organizations. Categorization as a hate group by the SPLC leads to increased animosity and opposition from the culture at-large. For churches, that opposition can hinder them from serving communities both at home and worldwide. Religious freedom is a form of free speech, and irresponsible attacks from the SPLC and others on religious expression aren’t likely to stop with churches. Aggressively suppressing the views of certain groups, especially when you have to twist their message in order to do so, is a slippery slope. “These false and illegal characterizations have a chilling effect on the free exercise of religion and on religious free speech for all people of faith,” a statement from Kennedy Ministries read. “After having given the SPLC an opportunity to retract, we have undertaken this legal action, seeking a trial by a jury of our peers, to preserve our own rights under the law and to defend the religious free speech rights of all Americans.”)

— Why Is the Southern Poverty Law Center Targeting Liberals? – AYAAN HIRSI ALI
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/24/opinion/southern-poverty-law-center-liberals-islam.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Since the violence in Charlottesville 10 days ago, when white supremacists left one young woman dead and 19 others injured, the Southern Poverty Law Center has hit the jackpot. The Alabama-based nonprofit is set to receive millions of dollars in donations from some of the nation’s deepest of pockets. Apple pledged $1 million. JP Morgan Chase & Co.: half a million. George and Amal Clooney even got in on the action, promising to donate another $1 million. Like every other decent American, I was outraged that the president of the United States equivocated in condemning neo-Nazi activity in this country. Nazism — not to mention white supremacy and racial bigotry — has no place in a civilized society. But is donating money to the S.P.L.C. the best way to combat this poison? I think not. If Tim Cook and Jamie Dimon had done their due diligence, they would know that the S.P.L.C. is an organization that has lost its way, smearing people who are fighting for liberty and turning a blind eye to an ideology and political movement that has much in common with Nazism. I am a black woman, a feminist and a former Muslim who has consistently opposed political violence. The price for expressing my beliefs has been high: I must travel with armed security at all times. My friend and collaborator Theo van Gogh was murdered in broad daylight. Yet the S.P.L.C. has the audacity to label me an “extremist,” including my name in a “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” that it published on its website last October.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Still cleaning up after President Donald Trump’s comments about a deadly protest in Virginia, the Republican National Committee is headed toward adoption of a resolution condemning white supremacists. And while the rebuke of groups Trump waffled on is expected to pass overwhelmingly Friday, some attending the summer meeting of the party’s most faithful are rolling their eyes at the move. “It’s amazing that we have been lured into this argument that we’re not racists. It’s absurd,” said Colorado Republican Chairman Jeff Hays. “Why would we feel compelled to do that?” The grumbling reflects a difference between some veteran Republicans concerned about the party’s image in light of Trump’s latest rhetorical thicket and newer, more ardently pro-Trump state Republican leaders. “There’s no debate. We’re affirming we’re the party of Lincoln,” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said, dismissing complaints about the resolution. “We are showing the moral high ground by disavowing hate and violence.”)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/j-p-morgans-hate-list-1503619180
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Corporate America will do almost anything to stay on the safe side of public opinion—at least as it’s defined by the media. CEOs will apologize, grovel, resign, settle. They will even, as of this month, legitimize and fund an outfit that exists to smear conservatives. The press is still obsessing over President Trump’s incompetent handling of the violence in Charlottesville, Va., and that has suited some profiteers just fine. The notorious Southern Poverty Law Center is quietly cashing in on the tragedy, raking in millions on its spun-up reputation as a group that “fights hate.” Apple CEO Tim Cook informed employees that his company is giving $1 million to SPLC and matching employee donations. J.P. Morgan Chase is pitching in $500,000, specifically to further the SPLC’s “work in tracking, exposing and fighting hate groups and other extremist organizations,” in the words of Peter Scher, the bank’s head of corporate responsibility. What Mr. Scher is referring to is the SPLC’s “Hate Map,” its online list of 917 American “hate groups.” The SPLC alone decides who goes on the list, but its criteria are purposely vague. Since the SPLC is a far-left activist group, the map comes down to this: If the SPLC doesn’t agree with your views, it tags you as a hater. Let’s not mince words: By funding this list, J.P. Morgan and Apple are saying they support labeling Christian organizations that oppose gay marriage as “hate groups.” That may come as a sour revelation to any bank customers who have donated to the Family Research Council (a mainstream Christian outfit on the SPLC’s list) or whose rights are protected by the Alliance Defending Freedom (which litigates for religious freedom and is also on the list). Similarly put out may be iPhone owners who support the antiterror policies espoused by Frank Gaffney’s Washington think tank, the Center for Security Policy (on the SPLC’s list). Or any who back the proposals of the Center for Immigration Studies (on the list). These corporations are presumably in favor of the SPLC’s practice of calling its political opponents “extremists,” which paints targets on their backs. The group’s “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” lists Mr. Gaffney (who worked for the Reagan administration); Maajid Nawaz (a British activist whose crimes include tweeting a cartoon of Jesus and Muhammad ); and Ayaan Hirsi Ali (a Somali refugee who speaks out against Islamic extremism). The SPLC has tarred the respected social scientist Charles Murray, author of the well-regarded book “Losing Ground,” as a “white nationalist.” Mr. Murray has been physically assaulted on campus as a result. He happens to be married to an Asian woman and has Asian daughters, so the slur is ludicrous. But what’s a little smearing and career destruction if J.P. Morgan Chase gets some good headlines? It isn’t only the lists. An honest outfit tracking violent groups would keep to straightforward descriptions and facts. Instead, the SPLC’s descriptions of people are brutally partisan, full of half-truths and vitriol designed to inspire fury. We’ve seen what this kind of fury can do in Europe, with the murder of Theo Van Gogh, the controversial filmmaker, by a Dutch-Moroccan Islamic fanatic. Ms. Hirsi Ali, who had worked with Van Gogh, still travels with security—and J.P. Morgan thinks it appropriate to further target her? In 2012 a gay-marriage supporter named Floyd Corkins smashed into the Family Research Council’s headquarters and shot a security guard. He told police he was inspired by the SPLC’s “hate group” designation. Had the companies done a bit of homework, they’d have discovered the SPLC isn’t even considered a sound charity. Karl Zinsmeister excoriated the outfit in a recent article for Philanthropy Roundtable: “Its two largest expenses are propaganda operations: creating its annual list of ‘haters’ and ‘extremists,’ and running a big effort that pushes ‘tolerance education’ through more than 400,000 public-school teachers. And the single biggest effort undertaken by the SPLC? Fundraising. On the organization’s 2015 IRS 990 form it declared $10 million of direct fundraising expenses, far more than it has ever spent on legal services.” Apple did not return a call to its media center. J.P. Morgan Chase, in an emailed statement, said only that it has a “long history of supporting a range of organizations that are committed to addressing inequality.” The corporate donations are nonetheless appalling, as they legitimize a group that already exercises inappropriate influence. The SPLC’s list is cited regularly by the media and congressional Democrats, ignorant or uncaring of its falsehoods. The charity tracker GuideStar for a time attached warning labels to philanthropies flagged by the SPLC. This undermines the fight against truly hateful groups. Comparing pro bono lawyers at the Alliance Defending Freedom to hood-wearing KKK members only make the Klan seem more innocuous. Blackballing mainstream groups only silences the moderate voices the country needs to fight hate and bigotry. Corporations have a role to play in calming today’s divisions. This is the opposite.)
