FEDERAL NEWS NETWORK
— Elections and federal workers – the good and the bad – Jeff Neal (DIERSEN: Government is nasty. Politics is nasty. Democrats are nasty. While I worked for the Democrats who ran GAO’s Chicago office 1980-1997, my Democrat coworkers and subordinates a) frequently asked me questions to confirm that I was Protestant (baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran), conservative, patriotic, Republican, old (born in 1948), non-poor, childless, gun owner, 100% German American, draft avoider, Corvette owner, former union member for almost 12 years, and that my ancestors have been in America since 1844 and b) stressed the aforesaid negative information to my Democrat superiors and supervisors. They also stressed that my Democrat IRS superiors a) had not promoted me beyond GS-12, b) disallowed my education deductions in 1978, c) got rid of my mentor in 1975, and d) disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. They also stressed that my Democrat Post Office superiors had forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
https://federalnewsnetwork.com/commentary/2019/09/elections-and-federal-workers-the-good-and-the-bad/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Having election discussions at work is another risk you should avoid. Those conversations may start innocently enough, but given the level of emotion that seems to accompany everything these days, it is better to avoid getting into them at all. An innocent conversation with a colleague may turn into a Hatch Act complaint filed with the Office of Special Counsel, or into a fight, or a damaged working relationship that persists for years. You are unlikely to convert your coworkers to your side, so it is far better to keep politics out of work entirely.)

https://sentinelcolorado.com/news/metro/aurora-city-council-approves-new-ethics-law-opposes-lobbying-registration/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Despite taking other legislative steps toward greater transparency, a majority of Aurora City Council members decided against an ordinance mandating lobbyists register with the city if working in Aurora. Council members Bob Roth, Johnny Watson, Marsha Berzins, Francoise Bergan, Charlie Richardson and mayor Bob LeGare opposed the proposed ordinance. At-large councilwoman Angela Lawson, who also works for the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, first introduced the idea to a city policy committee in October. LeGare said he didn’t believe the ordinance was ready, but council member Nicole Johnston rebutted that claim citing Lawson’s past year of work. None of the other council members who voted against the measure — all of which are running for re-election — gave a reason for their vote. The registration wouldn’t have limited or penalized lobbyists or city officials for interacting with each other. It would instruct lobbyists to file quarterly reports about their lobbying efforts, however. Those reporters would disclose “any expenditure over $75 directly benefiting a covered official,” according to city documents. “This does not prohibit expenditures over $75, it only requires reporting.” Several city council members cited concerns of who would qualify as a lobbyist and whether non-profit organizations attempting to seek influence on the city council would be required to register under the proposed rules. Under the ordinance, lobbyists were defined to be “any individual, including an attorney, who is self-employed or is employed or otherwise retained by any other person or organization: (1) For the purpose of engaging in lobbying; or (2) Whose scope of work requires him or her to lobby from time to time time.” During the meeting, the body unanimously gave a final approval to a new ethics code for elected city officials. The now-approved ordinance is the result of two different proposals from several city council members who sought stronger ethics rules for elected officials of the city. It tasks an independent panel of judges with investigating ethical complaints, prohibits the mayor and city council members from accepting gifts valued more than $300, and prevents council members from engaging in conflicts of interest.)

— House dismisses complaint against NRA lobbyist Marion Hammer Democratic Rep. Anna Eskamani filed the complaint in the House. – Ryan Nicol (DIERSEN: Constructively, my nasty, bombastic, rude, threatening critics/opponents publicly, falsely, and slanderously charged me at the August 20 DuPage County Development Committee meeting with failing to register as a lobbyist. I should sue them.)
https://floridapolitics.com/archives/304284-house-dismisses-complaint-hammer
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Florida House dismissed a complaint against National Rifle Association (NRA) lobbyist Marion Hammer that had alleged Hammer failed to properly report lobbying compensation. Democratic state Rep. Anna Eskamani filed the complaint in the House. A similar complaint in the Senate, filed by Sen. Perry Thurston, went nowhere. GOP state Rep. Tom Leek, who chairs the House Public Integrity and Ethics Committee, did note Hammer had run afoul of Joint Rule 1.4 of the Legislature. That rule requires disclosure of compensation from lobbying firms: “Unified Sportsmen of Florida (USF) is a lobbying firm and fail(ed) to file compensation reports for the NRA fees received.” But he said Hammer took appropriate action to avoid sanction, and determined “the complaint does not state facts supporting a finding of probable cause.” “You have taken the appropriate corrective action, and consistent with Joint Rule 1.5 and past practices, no further penalty will be imposed,” the Ormond Beach attorney said in a letter explaining the findings. In a statement, Hammer said she was “very pleased that the House complaint has also been dismissed.” She added: “I have been a registered lobbyist since 1974 … I have never told anyone EVER that I am not a lobbyist. Since the filings for Unified Sportsmen of Florida are really a non-issue, we would have filed from the beginning had we not been advised to the contrary. “When you seek and rely upon legal advice, you do so in good faith. That’s exactly what we did. We now have a different legal opinion and USF has fully complied based on the new information and advice.”)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee runs ad to boost Republican Jeanne Ives The spot is a likely ploy to help Illinois Democrat Rep. Sean Casten. Ives’ GOP primary rival Evelyn Sanguinetti told the Sun-Times the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is “resorting to primary meddling to ensure” Casten “gets the opponent he can defeat.” – Lynn Sweet
https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/2019/8/25/20832679/dccc-runs-ad-boost-republican-jeanne-ives-ploy-help-rep-sean-casten
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The DCCC ad, to run on Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms in the 6th District, is headlined, “Jeanne Ives backs Trump 100 percent of the time, noting “Ives is as far-right as they come and stands with President Trump 100 percent” on opposing gun reform, abortion and LGBTQ rights. Both Ives and Sanguinetti support Trump’s reelection. Rauner tried to keep his distance from Trump during much of his time as governor. Trump remains popular with Republicans. Kathleen Murphy, an Ives spokesman, told the Sun-Times, that the DCCC is “sorely miscalculating what this race is going to be, then. Nothing we’ve seen indicates that Jeanne would be easier to beat than Evelyn Sanguinetti. That would be a serious miscalculation on their part.” Sanguinetti told the Sun-Times in an email, “It’s no surprise the Democrats know I am the only candidate that can beat Casten next November and are resorting to primary meddling to ensure he gets the opponent he can defeat.” The DCCC ad is taking a cue from the Democratic Governors Association playbook. Before the March 2018 Illinois primary, the DGA ran an ad highlighting Ives’ conservative credentials in an attempt to defeat Rauner, who won with 51 percent of the vote.)

https://www.daily-chronicle.com/2019/08/08/letter-we-dont-elect-dictators-in-dekalb/afy9i3f/
(FROM THE LETTER: DeKalb’s City Council, mayor and city manager all serve at the pleasure of the voters of DeKalb. They do not have the right to overrule the will of the people. Politicians and appointed officials believe they know instinctively what that will is. Usually, they’re right. But from time to time, a matter is so contentious or difficult to parse that it is put to the people directly, via a referendum. It’s the most direct form of democracy we have. The results are a perfect reflection of the will of the voters. For a public servant to override that explicit will is, literally, anti-democratic. It’s governing by fiat. It’s authoritarian. It’s wrong.)

Grossman said he opposes current policies that allow councilmembers to hold jobs in addition to their positions on the Council and permit for-profit lobbying by current and former councilmembers to reduce potential conflicts of interest. “I’ve spent my whole career in public service and I know that working in government is a privilege,” he said. “It’s not a business opportunity.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The offences range from impaired driving and assault to an illegal possession charge for alcohol dating back more than 50 years. Two candidates, Tom Lindsey and Wayne Chacun of the NDP, disclosed impaired driving convictions. Lindsey, currently the MLA for Flin Flon, wrote that his conviction was in 1977. Chacun, running in Riding Mountain, wrote his conviction was from 1987. He also reported a shoplifting conviction from 1986. NDP Assiniboia candidate Joseph McKellep also reported a conviction for assault causing bodily harm from 1998, as well as a failure to comply conviction in 2000. The party’s leader, Wab Kinew, disclosed convictions from 2004 for assault, failure to provide a breath sample and two breaches of court orders. The Fort Rouge MLA has received pardons for the offenses. “These were serious mistakes made years ago, for which they have all taken responsibility,” the NDP said in a statement. “Since then they have spent their careers — as a paramedic, a workplace health and safety officer, a youth restorative justice officer, and broadcaster, author, university administrator — working to make life better in their communities.” 23 candidates yet to disclose The statements of disclosure are required under a new law passed by the Progressive Conservative government, compelling candidates seeking provincial office to disclose convictions — not charges laid where no conviction was made — under Canada’s Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act or the Income Tax Act, or any other law linked to “financial dishonesty.”)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— What would I have to do before the Republicans who run DuPage County might consider me to be a “member of the media” and let me sit at DuPage County’s media table next to the Daily Herald’s Robert Sanchez? SPRINGFIELD STATE JOURNAL REGISTER
— AUGUST 16, 2012 FLASHBACK: A bunch of political info — daily – Bernard Schoenburg
https://www.sj-r.com/x1782330063/Bernard-Schoenburg-A-bunch-of-political-info-daily
(FROM THE ARTICLE: There are lots of websites that compile political news, and I think it’s time I share one that I find quite interesting. It’s at www.gopillinois.com, and, as you can tell by its address, it has a Republican flavor. That is an understatement reinforced with the comments added by the compiler himself — DAVID DIERSEN of Wheaton. He introduced a recent UPI story about Republicans’ views on the drought and wildfires by saying: “Democrats blame everything bad, including bad weather, on Republicans, especially on Republicans who are conservative, White, male, older, non-poor and non-veteran.” And talking of a New York Times article about a photographer arrested while on assignment in the Bronx, Diersen wrote that since 2000, he has been thrown out of, barred from, or not advised of news conferences “by Democrats, Democrat plants, RINOs (Republicans in name only), their operatives, and their dupes.” Thus, if you don’t want to read some very pointed comments, you may not want to go to www.gopillinois.com.  But you would be missing a treasure of links to the day’s news and opinion. Diersen, 63, is a retired federal employee who became the Illinois editor of a national GOP website in 2000, and since 2004 has put out his own Illinois compilation every day. There’s usually about 50 articles daily, he says. He’s generally up by 3 a.m. He says he spends at least 10 hours a day on this passion of his, with no pay, and has put out links to more than 117,000 articles. As his comments above hinted, party regulars don’t always greet his work with relish. He includes dissident voices within the GOP tent, and some whose credibility is questionable. But he puts it all out there. He’s a GOP precinct committeeman, and he believes in people having information. He also wants to help elect Republican candidates who “will defend and advance the party’s platform.” The site makes available plenty of Diersen history, too, including how his “liberal Democrat superiors,” in his view, forced him to take early retirement at 49 from the U.S. General Accounting Office, “because of his opposition to race and gender based preference and his participation in a class action lawsuit” on that subject. He wouldn’t mind my telling you that he also passed his CPA and Certified Internal Auditor exams on first attempts more than three decades ago. Agree or disagree with him, but Diersen provides a bunch of interesting information — every day.)

August 23 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Wheaton’s City Council has narrowed the field of its 10 applicants for its West District vacancy to 3, and I am not one of them. The Council will interview those 3 finalists in the coming weeks. Critics of the Roosevelt Road corridor study by Camiros, Ltd. and Valerie Kretchmer & Associates (https://www.wheaton.il.us/930/Roosevelt-Road) have called for the Council to halt all action on the study until it fills its West District vacancy. It appears, sadly, like before, when the Council filled its North District vacancy, that it will not disclose who the 3 finalists are. I hope that the 3 finalists will get together, issue a joint press release, and call for a candidate forum to be held. Residents of Wheaton’s West District, including me, should have the opportunity to urge the Council to select one of those 3 finalists. Obviously, one could determine who the 3 finalist are if all 7 of the unsuccessful candidates got together and issued a press release. – Dave Diersen

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Your GOPUSA Illinois Editor, Dave Diersen, calls for DuPage County to ASAP a) draft, b) propose, c) seek input on from journalists like me, d) discuss, and e) vote on official press credentialing policies and procedures. Press credentialing requirements should NOT include a) having a degree in journalism, b) being paid, c) claiming to be just a reporter and not a journalist, d) denying being an activist, e) or claiming to be nonpartisan. I have served as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000. Since 2004, GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails have gone out each and every morning, and since 2015, each and every evening too. Those emails have included links to more than 344,100 articles and information on many upcoming events. I worked for GAO as an Analyst for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $98,198-$127,654/year. What GAO Analysts do (https://www.gao.gov/about/careers/career-paths/) is extremely similar to what journalists do. In addition, I became a Forensic Accountant in 1997, Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, Licensed CPA in 1981, Certified Internal Auditor in 1981, and CPA in 1979. – Dave Diersen

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Government is nasty. Politics is nasty. Since 2005, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have demonized me, denigrated, me, and condemned be as being like Jeff Gannon. Since 2005, they have viciously used against me what happened with GOPUSA, Talon News, and White House Correspondent Jeff Gannon. SEE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talon_News They paint me as being a clone of Jeff Gannon and even worse things. Ever since I became a GOPUSA reporter in 2000, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I ask bad questions at press conferences and share privileged information with reporters that have caused Republican candidates to be defeated and even worse things. Of course, I should sue my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes. I should write a book about activists, candidates, elected officials, and party leaders in Illinois who claim to be religious, conservative, and/or Republican, but a) who do NOT want me to know about their press conferences, b) who do NOT want me to attend their press conferences, c) who do NOT want me to ask questions during their press conferences, d) who do NOT want me to speak with other reporters, e) who have barred me from attending their press conferences, f) who have had me thrown out of their press conferences, and/or g) who do not want me to report on their press conferences. – Dave Diersen

— SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 FLASHBACK: Offer disclosures and statements of values – CRAIG SILVERMAN (DIERSEN: Of course, journalists should disclose the sources and amounts of all their income. All the time and money necessary to send out a GOPUSA ILLINOIS email each and every morning and each and every evening comes from me. By definition, journalists who are employees of newspapers, television stations, radio stations, websites, or other organizations cannot claim to be independent of their employer. I should sue any individual, any organization, any company, or any government that hints/implies/argues/shouts that I am paid by the Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Milton Township Republican Central Committee, or any other organization. If the aforesaid organizations paid me, they would promote my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. In fact, the aforesaid organizations fail/refuse to promote my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. Further, journalists should disclose their citizenship status, gender, race, age, religion, national origin, how long their ancestors have been in America, if they are a veteran or not, political affiliation, work experience, education, professional certifications and licenses, etc.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Looking across the landscape, we conclude there are typically five situations when a disclosure needs to be added to a piece of content: Personal connections to sources, organizations or events mentioned in reporting. Organizational links to sources, organizations or events mentioned in reporting. Limitations of any data or material used. (Meaning: Here’s what we don’t know, or some mitigating factors.) When unusual methods are used to gather information (such as in the above example). When there is an unusual arrangement with sources (such as enabling them to remain anonymous or use a pseudonym). . .A reporter’s name, email, phone number and even Twitter handle are now common information that accompanies their content. . .Beyond disclosures about specific reporting, more reporters and organizations are offering pages that are updated over time to disclose any personal ties, investments or relationships. . .PunditFact, an offshoot of PolitiFact, offers a paragraph of disclosure about its sources of funding right on its homepage.)

QUORA
— DECEMBER 1, 2012 FLASHBACK: What is the difference between a journalist and a reporter? – Ashutosh Sinha
https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-a-journalist-and-a-reporter
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In professional news media, all reporters are journalists but not all journalists are reporters. “Reporter” is a specific role: Someone who gathers facts and information from multiple sources, verifies them and writes a story or relays (reports) those findings in a TV, radio or Internet broadcast. “Journalist” includes anyone who is part of the editorial process of gathering and disseminating news: Reporters, editors, producers, photographers, camera operators, news columnists, etc. In a literal sense, anyone can be a reporter by relaying their direct observations. (e.g. I saw a car crash.) With the advent of social media such as Twitter, amateur reporters are increasingly a breaking news alert network for traditional news organizations. Ordinary people can also commit acts of journalism by following the journalistic process of fact-gathering, multi-source verification and putting those facts in context (e.g. A high-speed police chase after a million dollar bank robbery yesterday ended when the suspect’s car crashed into a lamp post at a busy downtown intersection.) Today, reporters’ roles are being blurred as they are required to take on more tasks that include photography, editing, blogging, shooting and producing video, audio, etc., so “journalist” is increasingly the most appropriate catch-all term.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A federal survey shows nearly 67 million Americans binge drink at least monthly, meaning women down four drinks during a single occasion, men five. Midwestern states have some of the highest binge-drinking rates in terms of both prevalence and intensity, putting millions of people at risk. Research links excessive alcohol use to fatty liver, cirrhosis and cancers of the breast, liver, colon, mouth and throat as well as heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, dementia, anxiety and depression. Nearly half of murders involve alcohol, according to studies. Drinking kills about 88,000 people annually, according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. Such diseases and social ills cost the nation an estimated $249 billion a year. Even one drink a day is unhealthy, said Dr. Sarah Hartz, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis. “If you’re going to drink, know it’s not good for you.”)

— Capitalism and liberty are essential for prosperity – Ken Calvert
https://www.ocregister.com/2019/08/08/capitalism-and-liberty-are-essential-for-prosperity-ken-calvert/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As most people know, nothing in life is free, and neither is a massive expansion of government programs. Don’t let socialists fool you — we cannot pay for their programs with just a tax hike on the wealthiest Americans. To cover the costs of the government they dream of, we’d need to impose huge tax increases on everyone from middle-class families to small business owners.)

SELINA JOURNAL
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: A Trump-hater says “President Trump is not one of us.” Since I became a Republican Precinct Committeeman in Wheaton in 1999, those who dominate the Milton Township Republican Precinct (MTRCC) have stressed that I am not one of them. To be “one of them,” you have to blindly serve as an operative or as a dupe from those who dominate the MTRCC. My MTRCC critics/opponents a) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and/or the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, b) reject the MTRCC resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, c) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, d) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, and/or e) are operatives or dupes for the aforesaid.)

— Simi City Council member Luevanos faces possible recall, censure over ICE-related video – Mike Harris (DIERSEN: Obviously, my critics/opponents do not want Wheaton to disclose anything about the 10 who are seeking to be appointed to fill its West District City Council vacancy. That puts everyone at a disadvantage, and especially Wheaton’s residents who live in its West District.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Simi Valley City Council member Ruth Luevanos is now facing possible recall and censure stemming from a controversial video she made in her City Hall office advising immigrants of their legal rights prior to recent ICE raids. During public comments at Monday night’s council meeting, Simi resident Joe Piechowski said he was there to serve Luevanos with a notice of intention to circulate a recall petition. Such a notice is the first formal step in a very protected recall process in which Piechowski will eventually have to gather about 11,000 signatures of Simi Valley registered voters to hold a recall election. Piechowski received conflicting signals from city officials as to serving Luevanos with the notice.)

CYBER CIVICS
— Responsibilities of U.S. Citizens (DIERSEN: In my opinion, each and every voter in Wheaton, and especially, each and every voter in Wheaton’s West District and each and every Precinct Committeeman in the district should a) learn everything that they can about the 10 candidates who are seeking to be appointed to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy, b) analyze that information, c) decide who they believe the best candidate would be and why, and d) communicate that to Wheaton’s City Council by email at allcouncil@wheaton.il.us.)
http://www.civics.ks.gov/kansas/citizenship/responsibilities-of-citizens.html
(FROM THE POSTING: Staying informed. Citizens have the responsibility to stay informed of the issues affecting their communities, as well as national and international issues, and to be active in the civic processes. This includes being well informed about the issues and candidates before voting in an election, getting involved in a political campaign or running for public office, or using their right to address the government through activism.)

DAILY HERALD
— AUGUST 9, 2019 FLASHBACK: 10 want West District seat on Wheaton City Council – Katlyn Smith (DIERSEN: The Daily Herald has published some information about 5 of the candidates (David Diersen, Robert McNeily, Lynn Robbins, Mark Kmiecik, and Khizar Jafri), but what about the other 5: Nancy Harding, Edward Ahern, Jeffrey Antonelli, Angela Blatner, and Krista Selvey? In my opinion, the Daily Herald should obtain and publish at least the following information about all 10 candidates: How long they have lived in Wheaton, how long they have lived in Wheaton’s West District, their work experience, their education, their professional certifications and licenses, their memberships in professional associations, why they want to be appointed to fill the vacancy, what they believe the three most important issues are that Wheaton needs to address in the next 2 years and how those issues those issues should be addressed, their political affiliation and activities, their civic activities, if they would vote for or against banning the sale of pot in Wheaton, what their position is on Wheaton’s Roosevelt Road corridor, if they would vote for or against requiring employers in Wheaton to use E-Verify, and what they have done that demonstrates they can carry out typical city council functions.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Diersen is the founder of the daily newsletter Gopillinois.com. McNeily lost his bid for the West District seat in 2016 against incumbent Todd Scalzo. According to his LinkedIn page, he is the Midwest regional manager of Turning Point USA, a conservative group founded by Wheeling High School alum Charlie Kirk for college and high school students. Robbins, a former Illinois Park and Recreation Association board member, also ran unsuccessfully against Scalzo for the West District seat in 2016. Kmiecik finished third in another three-way race for the seat in 2009. Jafri, a finance and accounting consultant, lost to Tim Elliott for a District 4 spot on the DuPage County Board in 2016. The Democrat was seeking his first elected office at the time.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— All politics is local. It should be extremely important to you who represents you in your municipality’s government. Residents of Wheaton’s West District have been represented in Wheaton’s government by Todd Scalzo for the last 10 years, but Scalzo has resigned.

It would be great if the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) would host a candidate forum for the seven Republican candidates who are seeking appointment to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy.

Those seven candidates are Edward Ahern, Jeffery Antonelli, Angela Blatner, Dave Diersen, Nancy Harding, Mark Kmiecik, and Robert McNeily.

Hopefully, all of the aforesaid seven candidates will a) attend MTRCC’s 7:00 PM Wednesday August 14, 2019 meeting at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream, b) announce their candidacies, c) and seek the support of the eighteen Republican Precinct Committeemen who represent Wheaton’s West District.

Those eighteen Precinct Committeemen are Joseph Caruso, Dave Diersen, Thomas Elsner, Arthur Grant, Ralph Hinkle, Marty Keller, John Kocinski, Robert Krzyzewski, Michael Hinsdale, Jae Kwon, Robert Larsen, Connor McCarthy, Robert McNeily, Ronald Menna, Elizabeth Tatro, James Ryan, Mark Thomas, and Herbert Wehling.

Hopefully, MTRCC will gather relevant information about the aforesaid seven candidates and provide that information to the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen.

The goal of the candidate forum and providing information on the candidates is to help the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen recommend to Wheaton’s City Council the best possible candidate to be appointed to fill the Wheaton West District City Council vacancy.

Many Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders routinely attend MTRCC meetings. I hope that the following will attend MTRCC’s August 14 meeting and a candidate forum if one is held: a) 6th Congressional District candidates Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti; b) DuPage County Recorder candidates Ron Almiron and Babette Holder; c) Wheaton’s mayor and City Council members; d) Illinois officials including Amy Grant; e) DuPage County officials including Robert Berlin, Fred Bucholz, Daniel Cronin, Pete DiCianni, Grant Eckhoff, Timothy Elliott, Robert Grogan, Gwen Henry, Richard Jorgensen, Christopher Kachiroubas, Robert Larsen, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Al Murphy, Sean Noonan, Jeffrey Redick, Darlene Ruscitti, Timothy Whelan, and Jim Zay; f) Milton Township officials including Sal Falbo, Chris Heidorn, Gail Hinkle, Marty Keller, Chris LeVan, Gary Muehlfelt, David Molitor, John Monino, and Yada Nathwani; g) Wheaton Park District officials including Michael Benard; h) School District 200 officials; and i) College of DuPage officials including Annette Corrigan, Christine Fenne, Heidi Holan, and Frank Napolitano.

It will be extremely interesting to see which of the seven candidates are endorsed by which of the aforesaid candidates, elected officials, and party leaders, and especially which candidates Ives and Sanguinetti might endorse because they have served on Wheaton’s City Council. – Dave Diersen

In the past, Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) straw polls at its Oktoberfest fundraisers had a big impact and raised lots of money for MTRCC. I organized those straw polls. MTRCC has not asked me to organize a straw poll for its October 3, 2019 Oktoberfest fundraiser. Contested primary races include Ives v. Sanguinetti and Almiron v. Holder.)
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/democrats-2020-iowa-state-fair-food-fried-mary-anne-marsh
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Beyond the fried food on a stick and the iconic Butter Cow, another big attraction at the Iowa State Fair is the unscientific straw poll open to all attending the fair. In 2015, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump ran away with the poll. Hillary Clinton won the Iowa caucus and Trump came in a very close second behind Ted Cruz. Trump and Clinton eventually faced one another in the general election. This week’s straw poll is a reminder that the 2020 campaign is much further along than most people, and even many candidates, realize. The fact is elections — and the nomination process — are won in June, July and August. With only 182 days until the Iowa caucuses, Warren and Harris are on the rise, Biden and Sanders are fading, and the rest of the field is fried on a stick.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: While Trump attended two big-money fundraisers for the Republican Party and his 2020 re-election campaign at mansions in Southampton and Bridgehampton on Friday, many of his East End supporters are eschewing the spotlight — especially after last week’s calls for boycotts of billionaire Stephen Ross’ gyms because he hosted the president. “We are all in the closet,” said a boutique owner in Southampton who fears reprisals from his customers — most of them moneyed Democrats — if he speaks openly about his allegiance to Trump. “It’s like you have this disease and people want to run away from you.” A builder based in Westhampton worried that his customers would boycott his services if he reveals his support of the president. “People have really strong opinions here and if you go around wearing a MAGA hat, you really need to fear physical violence,” he said, adding the anti-Trump aggression comes mostly from summer residents. Trump won 51.5 percent of the vote among year-round residents of Suffolk County in the 2016 election, compared to 44.6 percent for Democrat Hillary Clinton. In 2008 and 2012, most of the county voted for Barack Obama. Despite the recent shift, many of Trump’s core supporters fear speaking out, especially during the summer months, when beachfront villages from Westhampton to Montauk are filled with left-leaning visitors from New York City.)

You asked to run for city council. We got you up there. If you don’t like it, then you shouldn’t run for city council.”)

— Need or desire keeping record number of older workers on the job – Christopher Quinn (DIERSEN: I should write a book about forced early retirement. Democrats run the federal government. https://www.inc.com/minda-zetlin/millennials-gen-z-lie-on-resumes-more-than-baby-boomers.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But apparently, the younger you are, the likelier you are to be untruthful, at least when applying for a job. Eleven percent of Millennials said they had lied on their résumés, and 14 percent of Gen Z respondents said they’d done it. Only 2 percent of Baby Boomers said they’d ever lied on a résumé. And they don’t feel bad about it. While 54 percent of men and 42 percent of women who lied in all age groups felt guilty about doing so, only 27 percent of Millennials did. The difference may be changing attitudes about employment and employers.)

STANDARD MEDIA
— Do you need a higher degree or is work experience sufficient? – Nancy Nzalambi (DIERSEN: According to this article, “A degree earned 20 years ago may be useless now.” Of course, my critics/opponents stress that all my education, paid work experience, professional certifications, and professional license are at least 21 years old.)
https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/lifestyle/article/2001334657/do-you-need-a-higher-degree-or-is-work-experience-sufficient
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Employers are lured by your work experience, but you must have the relevant experience to appeal to them more. Work experience should highly relate with the job that you are looking for. Your experience has to show some aspect of growth. You are more marketable when there are quantifiable results from the time and effort you put into work.)

I should write a book about how people in my neighborhood, in my precinct, in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois have treated me since I moved to Wheaton in 1978. I would focus on those who read my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails, but who a) fail/refuse to share relevant information with me and/or b) fail/refuse to return my phone calls. I would focus on those who dismiss me, discredit me, belittle me, badmouth me, intimidate me, insult me, demonize me, denigrate me, and/or condemn me. I would focus on those who ascribe evil motive and/or bad judgment to everything that I do or that I do not do. I would focus on those who blame me for their problems, for your problems, for my problems, and for everyone’s problems. I would focus on those who blame me for all the losses that Republicans have suffered in Illinois since 2000. I would focus on those who forced me to sue them. I would focus on those who focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate. I would focus on those who claim to be religious, conservative, and/or Republican, but who do not talk and/or act like they are religious, conservative, and/or Republican. I would focus on those who have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Milton Township, DuPage County, and/or Illinois, their operatives, and their dupes.)
