In 1993, when I was 45 years old, the Democrats who ran GAO “offered” $25,000 buyouts and early retirement to get rid of their older White male non-veteran employees who they had not promoted to GS-15, currently $163,749-$180,974/year. I was eligible because I had 25 years of federal service – 13 with GAO, 9 with IRS, and 3 with the Post Office. They succeeded in forcing me to retire in 1997 just before their “offer” expired. If I had not succumbed, I would not have been eligible for regular retirement until 2003. Things that I did that helped me survive 1993-1997 include a) earning a master’s degree in financial markets and trading in 1997, b) becoming a Certified Forensic Accountant in 1997, Financial Services Auditor in 1996, Government Financial Manager in 1994, Fraud Examiner in 1990, Internal Auditor and licensed CPA in 1981, and CPA in 1979, and c) earning master’s degrees in accounting from DePaul in 1980 and in business from Loyola in 1976. If I was still working for GAO, that is, if my Democrat GAO superiors had not forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997, a) I would not have gotten $1.8 million in Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension payments since 1997 in today’s dollars and b) I would have paid into the CSRS $286,262 (7% of my salary) in today’s dollar.)

He finds the third too aggressive, and the first one not quite enough. The R/T starts at $61,590. Paul’s car is painted in a gorgeous After Dark paint, which is a $795 option. The car rides on the 20-inch Blacknoise aluminum wheels. Paul likes the steering wheel, the seating position, and the fact that he has everything at hand. It is, he says, a step up from the Challenger. In terms of engagement, though… “It’s not lifeless, it’s got some character and feel to it,” he says. He enjoys the way the suspension handles the road imperfections. It is stable at high speeds and handles corners with much agility while remaining composed. Paul will, however, change the stock tires for grippier ones to get some extra traction. His car is equipped with the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, which he finds to be a lot of fun around the city, but he prefers to turn it off on the highway because he doesn’t need the drama and the heads turning. The fake V8 sound mimics the growls and roars of a real engine, but it can’t fool a petrolhead. Dodge confirmed that the R/T and the Scat Pack have the same motors and battery but are tuned differently. So, the output gap between them might only be software-based. Now, Paul is considering tuning up the power in his R/T if that’s possible.)

The Illinois Freedom Caucus, made up of six state representatives and one senator, is accusing House Minority Leader Tony McCombie, R-Savanna, of playing “silly games” after she denied several services at the Capitol for not voting for her as leader. Some of the services the group said they are being denied include access to their state websites, emails, and email newsletter services, access to communications staffers including access to social media sites, audio and visual services and press release services, and all outreach assistance services. “At the end of the day, what she’s doing here is she is punishing tax paying voters,” said Vice Chairman Blaine Wilhour, R-Beecher City. This comes after Aaron Del Mar, the co-chair of the Illinois Republican Party, abruptly resigned, saying Republican principles of transparency and integrity are being compromised. Del Mar did not offer specifics. Wilhour said it is time for new party leadership. “I think the only way to unify the caucus at this point is for her to step aside,” said Wilhour.
