From what I see, none of the following would be enough: a) stop sending out GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails; b) resign as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor; c) resign as a Republican Precinct Committeeman; d) never again sign in and speak during a public comment period; e) stop promoting the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and other planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform; f) stop promoting the illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and other planks in the Republican Party platform; g) get hired as a government/political reporter by the Daily Herald, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, ABC7, NBC5, CBS2, Fox News Chicago, etc.; h) earn a degree in journalism; i) stop claiming to be conservative; j) stop claiming to be Republican; k) claim to be non-partisan; l) stop raising money from Republicans to help sponsor Wheaton’s Independence Day parades and fireworks, m) etc.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: There are lots of websites that compile political news, and I think it’s time I share one that I find quite interesting. It’s at www.gopillinois.com, and, as you can tell by its address, it has a Republican flavor. That is an understatement reinforced with the comments added by the compiler himself — DAVID DIERSEN of Wheaton. He introduced a recent UPI story about Republicans’ views on the drought and wildfires by saying: “Democrats blame everything bad, including bad weather, on Republicans, especially on Republicans who are conservative, White, male, older, non-poor and non-veteran.” And talking of a New York Times article about a photographer arrested while on assignment in the Bronx, Diersen wrote that since 2000, he has been thrown out of, barred from, or not advised of news conferences “by Democrats, Democrat plants, RINOs (Republicans in name only), their operatives, and their dupes.” Thus, if you don’t want to read some very pointed comments, you may not want to go to www.gopillinois.com.  But you would be missing a treasure of links to the day’s news and opinion. Diersen, 63, is a retired federal employee who became the Illinois editor of a national GOP website in 2000, and since 2004 has put out his own Illinois compilation every day. There’s usually about 50 articles daily, he says. He’s generally up by 3 a.m. He says he spends at least 10 hours a day on this passion of his, with no pay, and has put out links to more than 117,000 articles. As his comments above hinted, party regulars don’t always greet his work with relish. He includes dissident voices within the GOP tent, and some whose credibility is questionable. But he puts it all out there. He’s a GOP precinct committeeman, and he believes in people having information. He also wants to help elect Republican candidates who “will defend and advance the party’s platform.” The site makes available plenty of Diersen history, too, including how his “liberal Democrat superiors,” in his view, forced him to take early retirement at 49 from the U.S. General Accounting Office, “because of his opposition to race and gender based preference and his participation in a class action lawsuit” on that subject. He wouldn’t mind my telling you that he also passed his CPA and Certified Internal Auditor exams on first attempts more than three decades ago. Agree or disagree with him, but Diersen provides a bunch of interesting information — every day.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: CNN political analyst April Ryan — who has repeatedly blasted President Trump for attacking and vilifying the press — got her bodyguard to forcibly remove a journalist from an event she was speaking at in New Jersey, leading cops to charge him Monday with assault. “This was more than just an assault on me,” tweeted New Brunswick Today editor Charlie Kratovil. “This was an assault on freedom of the press.” Kratovil claims he was violently tossed from the New Jersey Parent Summit on Aug. 3 by Ryan’s goon after spending two hours inside filming other guests and speakers without any problems. Kratovil had been invited to The Heldrich Hotel, where the event was held, by a public relations firm and asked to cover it. Video posted online shows him sitting in the audience as Ryan takes the stage and starts speaking. Moments later, her bodyguard — Joel Morris, 30, of Illinois — comes into view and is told something by Ryan. He promptly walks over to Kratovil and allegedly attempts to take his video camera. “Put that down,” Kratovil yells. “Don’t you dare — put that down, sir! That’s my camera!” A tussle allegedly ensues and Morris winds up walking Kratovil out of the venue — with his arm twisted around his back, the journalist says. “This is a personal event,” Morris can be heard telling him. “You’re not allowed back in.” A woman can be heard screaming at Kratovil at one point, saying: “How dare you come in here and interrupt this event like this!” “I didn’t interrupt,” he fired back. Kratovil posted a video on his Twitter page Monday, explaining how cops found “probable cause” to charge Morris with harassment, assault and theft. “I was there to cover April Ryan’s speech,” Kratovil explained. “Joel Morris stole [my] camera, high-tailed it out of the room. One thing led to another, I ended up being assaulted after retrieving the camera. But now Mr. Morris is going to have to show up on Sept. 12…in Superior Court.” Kratovil added, “It’s a shame that we even have to be at this point.” He read a statement from the NJ Society of Professional Journalists, saying: “It is never under any circumstances permissible for a person aggrieved at being photographed or videotaped to lay hands on the journalist, or attempt to take away the journalist’s equipment.” “It is sad we have to say this, and remind people of this — and it’s super sad that we have to remind another journalist of this,” Kratovil said. “We are still waiting for [Ryan] to comment on this unfortunate incident…Maybe now that there’s criminal charges we might hear something from her. I will be signing in as a candidate. I am a candidate to be appointed to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy. The other six Republican candidates are Edward Ahern, Jeffery Antonelli, Angela Blatner, Nancy Harding, Mark Kmeicik, and Robert McNeily.

Hopefully, all of the aforesaid seven candidates will a) attend meeting, b) announce their candidacies, c) and seek the support of the eighteen Republican Precinct Committeemen who represent Wheaton’s West District. Those eighteen Precinct Committeemen are Joseph Caruso, Dave Diersen, Thomas Elsner, Arthur Grant, Ralph Hinkle, Marty Keller, John Kocinski, Robert Krzyzewski, Michael Hinsdale, Jae Kwon, Robert Larsen, Connor McCarthy, Robert McNeily, Ronald Menna, Elizabeth Tatro, James Ryan, Mark Thomas, and Herbert Wehling.

Hopefully, MTRCC will gather relevant information about the aforesaid seven candidates, provide that information to the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen, and host a candidate forum. The goal of providing information on the candidates and hosting a candidate forum is to help the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen recommend to Wheaton’s City Council the best possible candidate to be appointed to fill the Wheaton West District City Council vacancy.

In my opinion, the following information about all 10 candidates should be disclosed: How long they have lived in Wheaton, how long they have lived in Wheaton’s West District, their work experience, their education, their professional certifications and licenses, their memberships in professional associations, why they want to be appointed to fill the vacancy, what they believe the three most important issues are that Wheaton needs to address in the next 2 years and how those issues those issues should be addressed, their political affiliation and activities, their civic activities, if they would vote for or against banning the sale of pot in Wheaton, what their position is on Wheaton’s Roosevelt Road corridor, if they would vote for or against requiring employers in Wheaton to use E-Verify, and what they have done that demonstrates they can carry out typical city council functions. In my opinion, Republican Precinct Committeemen in Wheaton’s West District should have the above information.

At Wheaton’s City Council meeting on Monday, August 19, 2019, its members will go into executive session to deliberate on the 10 candidates who have applied. Because, in that session, they will be reviewing the documents that the 10 candidates have submitted, Wheaton has denied my FOIA request for those documents.

According to MTRCC’s bylaws (http://www.miltongop.org/about-mtrcc/by-laws), “When a position within Milton Township is declared vacant, the MTRCC shall meet within forty (40) days of the declaration of vacancy to recommend an individual to fill such vacancy. The recommendation shall be decided at a convention of the Organization by a majority vote of the Organization through a written ballot.” It would be great if MTRCC would host a candidate forum for the aforesaid seven Republican candidates.” I urge MTRCC to do the aforesaid concerning Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy.

Many Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders routinely attend MTRCC meetings. I hope that the following will attend MTRCC’s August 14 meeting and a candidate forum if one is held: a) Wheaton’s mayor and City Council members, b) 6th Congressional District candidates Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti; c) DuPage County Recorder candidates Ron Almiron and Babette Holder; d) Illinois officials including Amy Grant; e) DuPage County officials including Robert Berlin, Fred Bucholz, Daniel Cronin, Pete DiCianni, Grant Eckhoff, Timothy Elliott, Robert Grogan, Gwen Henry, Richard Jorgensen, Christopher Kachiroubas, Robert Larsen, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Al Murphy, Sean Noonan, Jeffrey Redick, Darlene Ruscitti, Timothy Whelan, and Jim Zay; f) Milton Township officials including Sal Falbo, Chris Heidorn, Gail Hinkle, Marty Keller, Chris LeVan, Gary Muehlfelt, David Molitor, John Monino, and Yada Nathwani; g) Wheaton Park District officials including Michael Benard; h) School District 200 officials; and i) College of DuPage officials including Annette Corrigan, Christine Fenne, Heidi Holan, and Frank Napolitano.

It will be extremely interesting to see which of the seven candidates are endorsed by which of the aforesaid candidates, elected officials, and party leaders, and especially which candidates Ives and Sanguinetti might endorse because they both have served on Wheaton’s City Council.

Further, I will be asking a) Susan Fitch, Chris Zaruba, and other Wheaton City Council members who attend the meeting to brief the meeting’s attendees on actions being taken to ban the sale of pot in Wheaton and b) Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Bob Larsen, Jim Zay, and other DuPage County Board members who attend the meeting to brief the meeting’s attendees on actions being taken to ban the sale of pot in DuPage County’s unincorporated areas.

Further, I will be asking the meeting’s attendees to join me, Bob Cherry, Dick Furstenau, B.J. Singer, and Tim Whelan in urging DuPage County, Wheaton, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Lombard, Downers Grove, Naperville, Warrenville, West Chicago, and the rest of the 38 municipalities in DuPage County to ban the sale of pot.
