CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— A few reasons why men should pay for prenatal care – Heidi Stevens  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, anti-Trumps paint themselves as being anti-men.  How soon, if not already, will anti-Trumps demand that the federal government tax sex?  More specifically, that the federal government require men to pay a tax ($100, $500, $1,000+?) each and every time that they have sex with a woman.  Men would have to file a form with IRS each and every time that they have sex with a woman, or would weekly, monthly, or annual filings be OK?  How much information would men have to disclose on these forms?  Women would also have to file forms to deter and detect cheating, that is, tax fraud. How would IRS enforce this new tax? Just kidding. But, not completely. I worked for IRS’s Collection Division 1971-1980 and I worked for GAO on audits of IRS’s Criminal Investigation Division 1986-1988.)

http://www.gopusa.com/?p=21719
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Janice Crouse of Concerned Women for America suspects the breakdown of the family structure has put Millennials at a disadvantage when it comes to learning adult skills they might have learned from their parents. “Most of these young people who are not functioning very well have not had parents,” she tells OneNewsNow. “There’s no father in the home, and the mother is trying to survive, having to work and do the work of two people and be a parent and a homemaker at the same time.” Subjects taught at “adulting” school include money management, time management, personal relationships, and even how to make a meal, according to odditycentral.com. Crouse recalls when schools taught students skills they would need in adulthood, but she says that is now lacking in education.)

— Rather than regulate panhandlers, give them a job  (DIERSEN: But what about bad jobs?  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that all the job that I had were bad.  Would they say that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to require panhandlers to take the jobs that I did doing yard work, delivering newspapers, washing dishes, cleaning golf shoes, chipping slag, pumping gasoline, delivering mail, working on an automobile assemble line, working as a security guard, selling tires, automotive services, and major appliances, collecting delinquent taxes, and auditing federal agencies? GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job. IRS hired me in 1971 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job. PUBLIUS FORUM
— Trump Needs to Fire Thousands of Deep State Government Employees NOW! – Warner Todd Huston  (DIERSEN: While pay, benefits, and advancement opportunities are terrible in the government sector, they are even worse in the private sector.  GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job. IRS hired me in 1971 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job. The Post Office hired me in 1966 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job. Many millions have not and will not seek a job with the federal government a) because the pay and benefits are terrible, b) because the advancement opportunities are terrible, c) because they lack required education, work experience, professional certifications, and/or professional licenses, d) because they cannot pass an employment examination, e) because they cannot pass a background investigation, f) because they cannot pass a physical examination, g) because they cannot take the demonization, denigration, and condemnation that comes with being a federal employee or federal retiree, and/or h) because they are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran and they know that the federal government discriminates against its employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)

— How Healthy Are You? G.O.P. Bill Would Help Employers Find Out – REED ABELSON  (DIERSEN: Many, if not most of my Democrat coworkers and subordinates in the federal government hinted/implied/argued/shouted that they had serious health problems.  Many of them used all their sick days as fast as they earned them. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I had good health a) because I am White, b) because I am male, c) because my parents were filthy rich, d) because I avoided the draft, and e) because my wife and I gave up trying to have children, because we did not adopt, and because we did not become foster parents.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/10/health/workplace-wellness-programs-health-genetic-data.html
— Wealthy Would Get Billions in Tax Cuts Under Obamacare Repeal Plan – JESSE DRUCKER  (DIERSEN: Anti-Trumps viciously demonize, viciously denigrate, and viciously condemn Republicans as being wealthy. Should it be a hate crime to say that someone is wealthy if their income is less than $200,000 a year? Just kidding, but not completely.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/10/business/tax-cuts-affordable-care-act-repeal.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Two of the biggest tax cuts in Republican proposals to repeal the Affordable Care Act would deliver roughly $157 billion over the coming decade to those with incomes of $1 million or more, according to a congressional analysis. The assessment was made by the Joint Committee on Taxation, a nonpartisan panel that provides research on tax issues. It is not unusual for tax cuts to benefit mostly the wealthiest, but still save some money for a majority of Americans. But the benefits of these reductions would be aimed squarely at the top. The provisions would repeal two tax increases on high earners enacted in 2010 to help pay for the Affordable Care Act: an increase in capital gains taxes and other investment-related income, and a surcharge on Medicare taxes. People making $200,000 to $999,999 a year would also get sizable tax cuts. In total, the two provisions would cut taxes by about $274 billion during the coming decade, virtually all of it for people making at least $200,000, according to a separate assessment by the committee.)

— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen and Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner endorse Rick Guzman for Aurora Mayor.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/opinion/ct-abn-crosby-lauzen-endorsement-st-0312-20170312-column.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “I really like Richard,” Lauzen said after the press conference, where he’d stood shoulder to shoulder with Weisner while endorsing Guzman. And in a later conversation, the board chairman continued to praise Irvin for his “tremendous accomplishments,” that include rising from poverty to become a Gulf War combat veteran, successful attorney and long-serving Aurora alderman. But it comes down to leadership style, Lauzen reiterated. After a quarter-century in politics, particularly the last five years in the executive branch as county chairman, he said he’s learned “a valuable lesson” and appreciation of the benefits of a more inclusive style that focuses on bringing people together. Describing Irvin as “intense” – as the chairman admits he himself is – Lauzen said “the one thing I’ve learned is that the harder someone pushes, the harder others push back.” “You can’t be a bomb thrower in an executive position,” Lauzen added. “Look at Trump and Rauner. How is that working out for them?” While we all know backroom deals are part of the political game, Lauzen insisted any rumors about deals being cut with Guzman to get this endorsement are “100 percent false.” “There’s been absolutely no conversation with Rick about a city position at any time,” he said. “I have no interest in it. I already have a job.” Likewise, Guzman vehemently denies such talk. “Nobody with any kind of respect for accuracy believes that or is pushing that,” he said. Lauzen, who still has more than three years left on his term as board chairman did, however, admit he inquired about the business director’s position at East Aurora School District last year, insisting that even with his duties at the county, his accounting experience could have helped get the district back on track. . .Irvin, on the other hand, said he was not surprised by either of his opponent’s big-name endorsements, particularly from Weisner, because both of these long-time politicians “represent the status quo.” “I was side by side with Tom as he got us through the dark ages,” Irvin said of the former mayor. “But now we are ready to experience a renaissance, to build on it … to think innovation that will take Aurora to the next level.”)

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/10/politics/trump-deep-state-sean-spicer/index.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Asked whether a “deep state” of entrenched government employees exists, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Friday that some federal employees were working to advance the previous administration’s agenda. “I think that there’s no question when you have eight years of one party in office, there are people who stay in government — and continue to espouse the agenda of the previous administration,” Spicer said. That’s a ‘Deep State’ “So I don’t think it should come as any surprise there are people that burrowed into government during eight years of the last administration and may have believed in that agenda and may continue to seek it,” he went on. “I don’t think that should come as a surprise.” Spicer denied that the CIA was working to identify those people and remove them from office. “That’s not part of the CIA’s mandate under any circumstances,” he said. But to some, “Deep State” has a far more insidious meaning than just government bureaucrats and Obama appointees still working in Washington. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Kentucky, told CNN’s Kate Bolduan last month he disagreed with “a lot of people here in Washington and maybe some supporters of Trump who say that this is an effort by the Obama administration to undermine the Trump administration.” “I’m worried it’s something deeper than that,” Massie said. “I’m concerned that it’s an effort on those who want a provocation with Russia or other countries to sort of push the president in the direction. So I don’t think it’s Trump vs. Obama, I think it’s really the Deep State vs. the president, the duly elected president.” The phrase, as it’s used by Massie, was popularized in Turkey. In 2012, a CNN report described it as a “term many Turks use to refer to alleged criminal networks within security forces and the government bureaucracy.” It was first used in The New York Times in reference to Turkey in a 1997 article that defined it as “a set of obscure forces that seem to function beyond the reach of the law.” It has since been used to describe unelected but influential members of groups including the bureaucracy or the military in countries like Egypt and Russia, and increasingly in some circles, the United States.)

Ever-increasingly, in fear of anti-Whites or wanting to curry favor with anti-Whites, more and more and more Whites become anti-White themselves.)
http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170310/news/170319953/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Two of five candidates vying to lead the state’s second-largest school district say a newly adopted high school social studies curriculum promotes “racism against white males” at a forum Thursday. Incumbent board President Donna Smith of Hanover Park, and incumbent trustees Veronica Noland and Cody Holt, both of Elgin, face challengers Melissa Owens of Bartlett and Enoch Essendrop of Elgin for three 4-year term seats on the Elgin Area School District U-46 board April 4 hosted by the district’s Citizens’ Advisory Council. At a February school board meeting, Holt and board member Jeanette Ward voted against adoption of the new curriculum, which Ward said had a “pervasive liberal bias.” Ward quoted the following passage about discrimination from the textbook “Macgruder’s American Government”: “White Americans have been historically reluctant to yield to nonwhite Americans a full and equal place in the social, economic and political life of this nation. Over time, the principal targets of that ethnic prejudice have been African-Americans, Native Americans, Asian-Americans and Hispanic Americans. The white-male-dominated power structure has also been slow to recognize the claims of women to an equal place in American society.” She said it “smacks of racism against white males.” The curriculum was approved by a 5-2 board vote. Essendrop, 19, a student at Providence Baptist College in Elgin running on a similar platform as Holt, said he shared Ward’s perspective. “I can’t believe that we find ourselves in the 21st century still judging people by the color of their skin and not the content of their character,” he said, paraphrasing the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. “We need to stop putting people in different groups and admit that we are 100 percent Americans.” Noland, 50, an alumna of the district’s Hispanic Parent Leadership Institute elected to her first term in April 2013, rejected Ward’s notion. “I believe my fellow board member’s comments are actually quite racist,” she said. “I’m opposed to censorship of materials … you head down the road toward book burning and I am completely opposed to that.”  She added, it is wrong to impose a “narrow ideology” over an entire school district. Holt, 25, a 2010 graduate of Larkin High School elected in April 2015 to a 2-year unexpired term, said he would like to see the district adopt “curriculum that presents both sides of any issue, that way students can come to their own conclusions.” “Being able to send your child to a school that sets its own curriculum is where we need to go in the 21st century,” Holt said. Smith, 59, who has served on the board since 2001, said she voted for adopting the curriculum because it went through a process of evaluation. “It has been vetted by a lot of educators,” she said adding, anyone can find something offensive in any textbook. “I have the faith in our educators that they would take those textbooks and supplement them with other resources.” Owens, 48, chairwoman of the U-46 Citizens’ Advisory Council, said she agreed with the board’s decision on the curriculum as well as providing cultural competency training for teachers. “We have to recognize the fact that we have a minority-majority district,” she said adding such training allows teachers to recognize that “students see things through different filters based on their experiences.”)

Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti joined Chicago Bulls’ Jimmy Butler, Kellogg’s and No Kid Hungry for the “Give a Child a Breakfast” event in downtown Chicago to raise awareness about childhood hunger. “One in five kids in Illinois is hungry. This is an important issue to me because I know what it is like to grow up with food insecurity,” said Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti. “My mother had me when she was only 15, and my parents often had to choose between paying the rent and putting food on the table.” Lieutenant Governor Sanguinetti addressed a group of students from Marshall High School and talked about her own experiences. The students were invited to the “Give a Child a Breakfast” event by Kellogg’s, where they had breakfast, had the opportunity to meet the lieutenant governor and play basketball with Butler. “Child hunger is not an issue isolated to large cities – it is prevalent in all 102 counties in Illinois,” Lieutenant Governor Sanguinetti said. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We want our kids to have access to a healthy breakfast so they can stay alert in the classroom and excel in school.”)

HUFFINGTON POST
— It’s critical to think locally about resistance – Edwin Yohnka, Director of Communications and Public Policy at the ACLU of Illinois  (DIERSEN: As everyone knows, “Welcoming City” is code for “Sanctuary City,” that is, it is code for a city that says individuals, organizations, and companies that are members of the following groups are NOT WELCOME: Trump supporters, Protestants, conservatives, Republicans, Americans, Whites, males, older people, rich people, gun owners, German Americans, draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/its-critical-to-think-locally-about-resistance_us_58c02587e4b0a797c1d3978a
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Since the election, ACLU staff have heard one question more than any other: what can I do to protect fundamental freedoms threatened by policies from Washington? Our collective answer largely has been the same – stay informed, stay connected to groups like the ACLU and stay active. People are paying attention and making their voices heard. We hear reports every week about events being planned and executed across the state. People have been gathering and protesting each week in Bloomington-Normal and Evanston, using their voices to affect change in Peoria and Springfield. We see the wave of activism spreading from Rockford to Carbondale, touching everywhere in between. It is critical to recall that many of the issues we are facing at the state and federal level also are playing out at the local level. And, because there are so many of these issues happening locally throughout the state, we rely on members and activists to get involved and stay vigilant. And, there is so much happening at the local level that deserves your attention. Many communities are considering resolutions or ordinances that designate the municipality as a “welcoming city.” Oak Park adopted one of the best such resolutions earlier this year. And, in the western part of Illinois, nearly 100 residents showed up at Galena’s City Council meeting just last week to support an effort to advance a welcoming city resolution. Perhaps this is something that you and others in your local community can initiate. Even if you never get to a successful local vote, it sparks discussion and debate about important and critical issues. Another local activity is to find out what role your municipal police force will play in immigration enforcement. Local matters here as well. Last month, at a League of Women’s Voters forum in Naperville, the community’s police chief made clear that his officers do not assist ICE in immigration enforcement actions. If your community does not have a current policy, they might feel compelled to adopt a non-participation program based on a group of residents raising the question. Local activity also is going to matter is in the area of protecting students who are transgender, and their ability to use the appropriate restroom and locker room – consistent with their gender identity. This will be a key issue in the school board elections in at least two suburban school districts – U46 and D211 – in the ballot set for Tuesday, April 4th. If you live in these school districts – or any other – find out what the candidates think about these issues; a few votes will decide local school board races. We all need to stay tuned to the policies coming from Washington and Springfield. Often, however, the most direct action we can take is on the local level. We must not miss that opportunity to speak out and be heard. There are many people in your community waiting to hear from you about these issues – keep speaking out!)

POLITICO
— How ‘A Day Without a Woman’ Could Backfire – AMANDA CARPENTER  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasing, anti-Trumps use women as cannon fodder. Anti-Trumps want women to not only be anti-Trump, but to also be anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (but not anti-Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

— Next step in Dem realignment: Their own CPAC  Speakers are being told to bring ideas — not just political attacks on Trump. – EDWARD-ISAAC DOVERE  (DIERSEN: Of course, the speakers will call for getting rid of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that support Trump and/or are Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America foe a long time.)
http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/democratic-party-realignment-cpac-235806
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Instead of CPAC, it’ll be the Ideas Conference. Instead of at the National Harbor, it’ll be in the main room at the St. Regis Hotel, a few blocks from the White House. Instead of featuring President Donald Trump, it’ll be the first real cattle call of the Democrats nosing around 2020 presidential runs. And it’ll be the Center for American Progress’s biggest move yet to establish itself as both the nexus of the Democratic Party’s future — and a player trying to shape what that future will be. They’re roughly modeling the event on CPAC, the American Conservative Union’s annual gathering that’s become a prime stop for Republican leaders, and which notably gave Donald Trump his first major political platform as he was entering the fray. “So much of our time right now is engaged, and rightfully so, in fighting Trump. On any given day, he issues one affront to progressive values after another,” said CAP president Neera Tanden. “It’s obviously critical that we provide a positive alternative of how we’re going to address the country’s challenges.” Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Montana Gov. Steve Bullock and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti are all confirmed to attend, and more are expected to be added to the event, scheduled for May 16.)

POST BULLETIN
— Make federal health program available to all – Martin Schram  (DIERSEN: What is your health insurance situation? Because I am a federal retiree, my wife and I have guaranteed membership in the Federal Employees Health Benefits program for the rest of our lives.  We pay only $5,763/year for $23,051/year worth of health, dental, and vision insurance.  Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes are beyond furious about that. In my defense, for my wife and I to be eligible for the aforesaid insurance, I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, almost 3 years for the Post Office, almost 9 years for IRS, and almost 18 years for GAO. In all fairness, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes should be required to fully disclose their employment history.)
http://www.postbulletin.com/opinion/columnists/schram-make-federal-health-program-available-to-all/article_d80218e7-8b41-5d0c-ad68-8a118e64af61.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Just take the best health insurance that is available to Washington’s elites — the senators and representatives and everyone who works for the federal government — and make it available to everyone in America. The Federal Employees Health Benefits, or FEHB, Program basically allows all of Washington’s elites to enroll in any plan they choose — at very favorable rates (which can be negotiated because of the vast size of the federal plan’s membership). So, if that plan is now the plan for all Americans, what about those who cannot afford to pay for coverage at all? Mike always said provisions must be enacted to assure that the poor will have subsidized coverage. And the near-poor and lower middle classes would receive supplemental aid on a sliding need-based scale. But the beauty of this plan is that it can be done without massively restructuring the entire health sector economy. So that’s where it merits bipartisan backing — yes, even here in the political hate-city of Washington. When the ACA was enacted, it required all legislative branch employees (including senators, representatives and their staffs) to purchase coverage through the ACA networks in their states or Washington, D.C. So your senators and reps can’t buy into FEHB anymore. But all executive and judicial branch employees still get their coverage through FEHB. And, as the U.S. Office of Personnel Management website proclaims: “Federal employees, retirees and their survivors enjoy the widest selection of health plans in the country.” That still sounds like a great place to start.)

The aforesaid are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders. and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors and/or a) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, b) reject planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, c) reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, d) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, e) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, f) are operatives for the aforesaid, and/or g) are dupes for the aforesaid.).

GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE
— Conservative veterans advocacy group is creating a new ad campaign to pressure Congress to enact legislation that would make firing bad VA employees easier – Eric Katz  (DIERSEN: Of course, my critics have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I was a BAD federal employee, much BADDER than the BADDIST VA employee.  They stress a) that my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) that my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims; and c) that my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests.)
http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2017/03/group-launches-ad-campaign-ease-firing-federal-employees/135936/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Roe and Rubio’s bill would give the VA secretary expedited removal authority, meaning any employee fired by the secretary would be out of a job and off the department’s rolls that day. Any employee facing removal, suspension of at least 14 days or a demotion would receive advance notice of 10 days, and the secretary would have five days in which to rebut any response the employee comes up with in that time. Those employees would maintain appeal rights to the Merit Systems Protection Board and U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The bill would allow VA to reduce employees’ pensions if they are convicted of a felony that affected their job and to recoup bonuses and relocation expenses in some circumstances. Employees facing those penalties would also be entitled to an appeal. The measure would create “new reforms that will hold bad employees accountable and cut undeserved bonuses,” the ad declares. “Reforms that get bad VA employees out — for good.” “The VA Accountability First Act of 2017 would make it easier to fire employees who engage in misconduct and give the new VA secretary the tools he needs to improve the troubled department,” said CVA Director of Policy Dan Caldwell. Veterans deserve the highest standard of care possible, and right now, our government is failing them.”)

— Legislation that feds should be watching – Derek Johnson (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always promoted patronage. Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and d) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)
https://federalsoup.com/articles/2017/02/16/a-list-of-proposed-legislation-affecting-the-federal-government-workforce.aspx
(FROM THE ARTICLE: H.R. 6278 — Promote Accountability and Government Efficiency Act (or “PAGE” Act)  Summary: Proposed by Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN), the PAGE Act would change the employment of all future hires by the federal government to “at-will” status, meaning they may be suspended or fired without notice or appeal “for good cause, bad cause [or] no cause at all.” It prohibits all but the most highly-rated federal employees from receiving a pay raise, limits the avenues of appeal and specifies that a grievance filed by a union which results in a higher rating will not result in a pay raise. The bill also prevents federal employees from using official time to conduct any business related to union activities.  Status: Referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform)

I worked for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently, $94,610-$122,991. For 3 of those 18 years, I worked on audits of IRS. I passed the CPA and Certified Internal Auditor examinations on my first attempt.  I became a licensed CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Financial Services Auditor, and a Forensic Accountant.)
http://dailycaller.com/2017/03/06/gowdy-congress-is-much-better-equipped-to-do-investigations-than-journalists-are-video/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Trey Gowdy criticized journalists reporting on alleged wire-tapping at Trump Tower in New York City, for relying on “anonymous sources” and “leaked information” during a Monday interview on Fox News. “I think Congress is much better equipped to do investigations than journalists are,” the South Carolina Republican told host bill Hemmer. “We can’t rely on anonymous sources. We can’t rely on leaked information, classified information which in and of itself is a crime.” “So with all due respect, to the reporters, I can’t cross-examine anonymous sources. You can’t even directly examine them. It’s a lot easier to write a news piece than it is to conduct an investigation.”  “What Congress needs is access to the witnesses, access to the documents and they need to understand we don’t run parallel, criminal investigations,” Gowdy continued. “We have a job to do, but it is not to investigate crime.”)

ILLINOIS FAMILY INSTITUTE
— Is White Privilege merely “Fake News?” – Oliver Perry (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I have always benefited immensely from White Privilege. They hint/imply/argue/shout that were it not for White Privilege, I never would have gotten the jobs that I did doing yard work, delivering newspapers, washing dishes, cleaning golf shoes, chipping slag, pumping gasoline, delivering mail, working on an automobile assembly line, working as a security guard, selling tires, automotive services, and major appliances, collecting delinquent federal taxes, and auditing federal agencies. But wait, they demonize, denigrate, and condemn all the aforesaid jobs as being so “bad” a) that they themselves would never take those jobs and b) that no minority, no female, no younger person, and no veteran should ever have to take those jobs.)
https://illinoisfamily.org/education/white-privilege-merely-fake-news/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The White Privilege concept claims that white people have certain invisible advantages. These advantages might merely be the result of acquiring income, education, or a residence in “nice” neighborhood. A Department of Education study states that “Black students are suspended and expelled at a rate three times greater than white students.” But was the study covering disparities in just one school? Or were some data gathered from schools in peaceful communities and other data from schools serving as substitute gang battlegrounds? Again, all of the details matter. An important part of the White Privilege concept is that you can’t lose it, avoid it, or fix it. You’re guilty of racism just by living. This is important for activists, for guilty people are easily manipulated, and you’ll keep doing whatever the accusers ask for. Finally, the White Privilege concept creates its own definition of racism. The common definition of racism judges a person on their thoughts, words and deeds. The White Privilege version says that you’re guilty because the accuser doesn’t like how society is currently structured. These advocates are moving the goalposts to encourage a political and social reengineering of America. So what do we know about White Privilege? It was invented to push people into accepting a socialist or Marxist society. You are accused of being racist, but not for anything you did. There is no way for you to fix this so-called racism. Your only hope is to join your accusers and reshape society to their plans. That sounds like “fake news” to me. It is guilt inducing without cause. Throw it out.)

http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/04/news/economy/h1b-visa-expedited-suspended-reaction/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: H-1B visas allow employers to bring in skilled foreign workers; about 85,000 will be given out this year. The visas are in high demand and given out by lottery. It can take six months or longer for an application to be reviewed. But the government announced Friday that, as of April 3, it will suspend the “premium processing” option, which ensures an application will be reviewed within 15 days. It costs $1,225. Trump has accused companies of abusing the H-1B program as a way to hire foreign workers who take jobs away from Americans, at lower salaries. The Trump administration says it’s doing away with quick-turn processing so it can sort through a large backlog of applications and try to “reduce overall H-1B processing times.”)

BRADENTON HERALD
— Progressives wants to silence foes – PATRICK NEYLAN, BRADENTON
http://www.bradenton.com/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/article136275133.html
(FROM THJE LETTER: After four years of national malaise, conservatives were devastated by the presidential election results of 2012 even though they recaptured the House and Senate. While this was a definite setback for Democrats, the incumbent president defiantly declared he had a phone and a pen to enact his vision for America. The progressive reaction to the presidential election of 2016 is something to behold. Unlike conservatives, they destroy property, hold hate rallies, and spread a blizzard of lies, vulgar invective and fake news. The left wants to silence or destroy anyone who doesn’t fit in. They use terms such as the subject is settled, the discussion is over or the subject is not politically correct. This helps their lemmings avoid the headache of independent thought or objective inquiry. The national debt is never mentioned because it might cause the naïve to realize that America cannot afford the benefits that we currently enjoy. World-citizen progressives lobby for open borders and amnesty; this will provide excellent competition for the race to the bottom in jobs, wages and benefits, etc. Progressives’ idea of multiculturalism supports anti-western cultures and laws which document (in writing) a terrible human rights and antidemocratic record. They call it diversity. Qualified conservative professionals have about a one in 14 chance of gaining employment in the news media or academia. Does that sound democratic to you? Before this bias destroys America, laws like Equal Employment Opportunity must be passed. Perhaps readers will notice that world-citizen progressives avoid addressing the economy, existing unenforced laws, patriotism, borders, security, debt control and time-honored ethics, etc. What do they really have in mind, not even their lemmings know?)

(FROM THE LETTER: Each year it seems that gambling becomes more pervasive. In Illinois, video gambling sites have increased significantly in the past 18 months, and there is serious discussion about expanding the number of casinos. For most people gambling is entertaining, but for the problem gambler it can eventually lead to the loss of a home, job, family and friends. Common signs of a problem gambler often include lying to your partner about where you’ve been and how you’ve spent your money; lost sleep due to gambling stress and anxiety; reducing time one spends with family and work to gamble; feeling guilty about gambling; trying to cut back in gambling without success. Gambling disorders are treatable, but professional help is needed. Renz Addiction Counseling Center is offering free gambling assessments throughout 2017 and free treatment during National problem Gambling Awareness Month this March at our Two American Way location in Elgin. ILLINOIS TIMES
— The vanishing Statehouse press corps  In an era of mainstream news cutbacks, ideological media step in – Tara McClellan McAndrew  (DIERSEN: Since 2000, your GOPUSA Illinois Editor has increasingly stepped in a) to counter the media’s ever-increasingly pro-Democrat slant and b) to fill Republican communication voids.)
http://illinoistimes.com/article-18344-the-vanishing-statehouse-press-corps.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As mainstream coverage of government has decreased, new media have risen to fill the void. According to the Pew’s 2014 study, there was a boom across the nation in “ideological” organizations covering state government after the Great Recession. That includes outlets funded by politicians or partisan groups which can be designed to look like mainstream media. A couple examples are the Illinois Policy Institute and Local Government Information Services, which have links to the Republican Party. Currently, there are no known media outlets covering Illinois government that have ties to other parties. In 2015, the Illinois Policy Institute, which already ran Illinois News Network, purchased Illinois Radio Network. It covers state government, among other topics. In 2013 and 2014, the Institute’s Illinois News Network tried to get press credentials from the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate, but was denied because of its relationship to a partisan, lobbying group – the Institute. The Institute sued and took its case all of the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, but lost. State Journal-Register reporter Bernard Schoenburg has written several columns about Republican ties to the Institute and Local Government Information Services, including donations Governor Bruce Rauner made to both groups, totaling at least $3 million. Local Government Information Services has online websites with articles about communities around the state. One called the Sangamon Sun covers the Springfield area. On Feb. 13, its headline was: “State Comptroller Mendoza added to BossMadigan.com,” referring to an Illinois Republican Party site. Some ideological media, like the Illinois News Network, make their audio and articles available for free. In an Oct. 7, 2015, column, Schoenburg wrote: “Any of those papers or stations using that content and not clearly identifying the source as the Illinois Policy Institute are doing a disservice to their readers and listeners.” Free content is very attractive to small radio stations or newspapers with limited staff and budgets, Wheeler says. “Having fewer Statehouse reporters and fewer independent, unbiased sources of news committed to the consistent practices of journalism will make it easier for the folks who are peddling the slant to have their stuff accepted and used.” In a democracy, media have an important task, Wheeler adds, especially at a time when the federal government is making many decisions that could affect the responsibilities of state governments. “The First Amendment wasn’t created with the idea that we have to help people who are going to be running newspapers to make a lot of money.” As one Statehouse reporter I talked to put it: “Somebody has to cover the news!”)

FEDERATION FOR AMERICAN IMMIGRATION REFORM
— The Impact of New and Expanded  E-Verify Measures on Unemployment Rates Since the Great Recession  (DIERSEN: Needless-to-say, all employers should be required to use E-Verify. If an employer does not use E-Verify, a) it shouts that it wants cheap labor, b) it shouts that it hires and exploits illegals, c) it shouts that it despises if not hates American workers, d) it shouts that it encourages people to come to America illegally, e) it shouts that it encourages people to stay in America illegally, and f) it shouts that it encourages people to bring other people to America illegally.)
http://www.fairus.org/issue/the-impact-of-new-and-expanded-e-verify-measures-on-unemployment-rates-since-the-great-recession
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Congress created E-Verify in 1996, and launched the program in 1997, to assist employers in verifying new employees’ eligibility to work in the United States. The stated goal is to provide fast and reliable verification by comparing an employee’s I-9 form to U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration databases.(1)
Though easy to use and accessible to all employers, participation in the E-Verify program is not required by federal law. However, the 2011 Supreme Court case Chamber of Commerce v Whiting affirmed that states may constitutionally pass legislation requiring some or all employers within their jurisdiction to use E-Verify. Unfortunately, most states have left its use optional, or only require certain employers to use the program.(2) Does E-Verify Work? The E-Verify program protects job opportunities for American workers by ensuring that employers using the program only hire individuals who are authorized by the federal government to work in the United States. Opponents of E-Verify often claim, however, that the program’s 99.7 percent verification accuracy rate isn’t reliable enough and assert that any false-positive returns will remain uncorrected, even when appealed.(3) Some opponents go as far as to argue that requiring widespread usage of the program will result in increased unemployment rates. To determine whether state E-Verify laws impact job markets after their implementation, this report examines the U-6 unemployment rate(4) in states one year after instituting or expanding E-Verify requirements. The U-6 unemployment rate includes discouraged job-seekers who have stopped searching for employment and those who are working part time for purely economic reasons – as opposed to those who may be working part time by choice.)

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/03/03/illinois-congressman-uses-derogatory-term-when-describing-raucous-town-halls.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “While there was no malicious intent, I regret that my words may have distracted from an important point,” Bost said. “When the booing and shouting drowns out the conversation we’re trying to have with our constituents, it becomes that much harder to govern.” Some Republicans in Congress have participated in rowdy town halls in which crowds have expressed concerns about President Donald Trump’s policies. A few, like Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz, have been shouted down and booed. Bost described the town halls as “out of control, which means you don’t actually get to talk to people and listen, and we’re looking for ways to do that.” In an editorial, the Southern Illinoisan noted that the people of his district want to have their voices heard, and doing it over the phone or the internet just won’t do. It went on to say, “It is part of his job description to, from time to time, take the heat. A leader should not be reluctant to meet with his constituents personally.”)

WALL STREET JOURNAL
— Journalists Demand Access, but Sometimes They’re Selective   An Illinois reporter Scott Reeder lost his press credential when he left the legacy media to work for a nonprofit. – JACOB HUEBERT
https://www.wsj.com/articles/journalists-demand-access-but-sometimes-theyre-selective-1488498959
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The national press was outraged after reporters from CNN, the New York Times, Politico, BuzzFeed and the Los Angeles Times were kept out of an off-camera White House press briefing last week. CNN anchor Jake Tapper called the action “un-American.” Washington Post executive editor Marty Baron said it was “appalling” and “undemocratic.” National Press Club president Jeffrey Ballou labeled the exclusion “deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable.” Their concerns are valid: Government officials can silence critics by picking and choosing who gets access. But few have noted that the Trump administration’s actions are far from unprecedented. Similar scenes have played out at all levels of government and media, yet the press rarely object so vociferously. Worse, mainstream outlets sometimes are complicit in helping the government limit the access of other journalists. A prime example comes from Illinois. As an attorney for the Liberty Justice Center, I represented a veteran journalist who was denied statehouse press credentials in Springfield. Scott Reeder had been a reporter and editor for more than 25 years. He spent the first 20 years of his career at newspapers in Texas, Nevada and Illinois, racking up journalism awards along the way. He became a well-known fixture in the Illinois Capitol. Then he decided to start a statehouse news service to keep doing the same work he had always done. Joining with the Illinois Policy Institute, a government watchdog organization, Mr. Reeder planned to launch his new venture in 2013. But when he applied for statehouse press credentials, Mr. Reeder got the cold shoulder from lawmakers who decide which outlets can cover them. Mr. Reeder was a tough reporter, ruffling feathers of politicians on both sides of the aisle—as journalists should—and his application was denied because of his association with the institute. Officials determined that under the legislature’s rules Mr. Reeder was no longer entitled to a pass because the institute was registered as a lobbyist and wasn’t “primarily” engaged in news reporting. But the legislature never excluded reporters from for-profit newspapers simply because their parent companies lobbied and engaged in other businesses besides news. The Chicago Tribune had no trouble getting credentials when its then-owner, the Tribune Co., hired a firm to lobby on its behalf and operated businesses unrelated to news, such as the Chicago Cubs. We challenged Mr. Reeder’s exclusion from the press gallery on First Amendment grounds. The courts declined to consider the claim, holding that “absolute legislative immunity” precludes lawsuits over credentialing decisions. The precedent was a 1975 case involving access to the congressional press galleries. In 1972 the Standing Committee of Correspondents had voted to exclude writers from Consumer Reports because the magazine was published by a nonprofit advocacy group rather than a traditional news organization. The publisher sued. A federal judge ruled that the exclusion violated the First Amendment, which prohibits the government from arbitrarily keeping reporters out of press facilities based on who employs them or the ideas they advocate. But the decision was overturned on appeal. The judges held they could not interfere with the internal operations of Congress, even to vindicate the First Amendment. In the Consumer Reports case, it was journalists who made the decision to exclude. The Standing Committee, to which Congress delegates authority over credentials, is composed of journalists from traditional news organizations (including, in some years, The Wall Street Journal). As for Mr. Reeder, he got little support from fellow reporters. Some even published articles attempting to delegitimize his work because he was no longer employed by a legacy media outlet. The White House has not always provided equal access either. In 2009 the Obama administration tried to exclude Fox News reporters from a round of interviews with a Treasury official. A top White House staffer had recently described Fox as “not really a news station.” In that case, other media organizations lined up behind Fox, and the White House eventually relented. But the incident didn’t get nearly as much attention as last week’s brouhaha. It’s good that the media united in objection to the Trump administration last week. Perhaps the incident will serve as an important civics lesson about the dangers of the government granting special privileges to select media outlets. Here’s to hoping the media will continue to advocate equal access, just as forcefully as they are now, for journalists of all stripes covering all levels of government.)

AMERICAN THINKER
— Welcome to the real world, federal bureaucrats – Thomas Lifson  (DIERSEN: Rather than demonizing, denigrating, and condemning the benefits that federal employees have, why not call for private sector employers to provide such benefits?  Far too many who say that they are Republican talk and act like they are operatives or dupes for private sector employers who screw their employees.)
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/03/welcome_to_the_real_world_federal_bureaucrats.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A specter haunts Washington, D.C.: federal workers, accustomed to job security, may actually be reduced in status to the level of private-sector peasants, who must live with the possibility of being laid off due to workforce reductions.  The Washington Post, in many ways the trade paper of the government industry, shares the anxiety of its readership: “Federal workers are growing increasingly anxious at the prospect of massive budget cuts President Trump proposed this week that would pave the way for increased military spending. Employees who list endangered species, collect taxes and distribute aid to foreign countries are fearing for their livelihoods as they sift through rumors and wait to see whether their offices will be targeted for steep reductions.”  Those of us who work in the private sector have never had the job security of a federal employee.  And few of us have the retirement benefits they enjoy, so we have the constant issue of providing for ourselves beyond our working years.  Frankly, it is a lot of stress, and I find that in my case, at least, it provides quite a lot of motivation for hard work.  After all, I have no rich Uncle Sam to rely on to keep money coming in to pay for the groceries, much less fund an extended vacation called “retirement.” Ordinarily, in the rare case of a government agency reducing its workforce, attrition is relied upon.  Deaths and retirements (and hardly ever firing for cause) automatically reduce the number of working bodies in a large organization.  If you don’t bring in replacements, the workforce declines in number.)

FED SMITH
— Congress Considering Change in Calculating retiree COLAs – Michael Wald  (DIERSEN: The purchasing power of my $50,856 Civil Service Retirement System pension and my $2,028 Social Security decreases dramatically each year as inflation is far greater than COLAs.)
http://www.fedsmith.com/2017/03/01/congress-considering-change-in-calculating-retiree-benefit-increases/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Congressman John Garamendi (D-Modesto, CA) has introduced the CPI-E Act of 2017 (H.R. 1251). The bill would require the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) methodology to use CPI-E as opposed to the currently used CPI-W when calculating changes in retiree benefits for both Social Security recipients and annuities provided under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). “The fact that we do not do this already is shocking. Instead, cost-of-living adjustments, or COLAs, for seniors collecting Social Security and those retired from the military or federal service, are based on the costs experienced by, quote: urban wage earners and clerical workers. They are not based on the costs that they – as elderly individuals – experience. And that doesn’t make a lot of sense,” stated Richard Thissen, president of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE). Retirees began receiving automatic annual COLAs in 1975. When Congress first approved automatic cost-of-living adjustments as part of the 1972 Social Security Amendments, the only Consumer Price Index available was the index now designated as CPI-W. Before that, benefits were increased only when Congress enacted special legislation.)
