(FROM THE POSTING: For the small business owners, the entrepreneurs, the risk-takers and change-agents. There’s no 9-5. Work doesn’t stop and they don’t stop, because they know there’s always more to be done, more to achieve. Bruce Rauner knows that drive. He made his name leading one of Illinois’ most respected businesses. But his first job was cooking burgers. His second? Parking cars. In college, he worked in the dining hall to earn extra money. When he moved back to Chicago to work at a data company, he spent nine months sleeping on a camping mattress, because he didn’t have any furniture. But this self-made businessman would go on to earn an MBA from Harvard, joining an investment start-up and building a reputation as a business pioneer. That same spirit now drives his push for real reform in our state, because across Illinois more than one million small businesses are led by creative, driven innovative people from every walk of life. And they need a governor who’s fighting for them. Working for you and our future. Bruce Rauner.)

http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2017-05-03.html?utm_source=jolt&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Jolt_5/4/2017
(FROM THE ARTICLE: If this is the budget deal we get when Republicans control the House, the Senate and the presidency, there’s no point in ever voting for a Republican again. Not only is there no funding for a wall, but — thanks to the deft negotiating skills of House Speaker Paul Ryan — the bill actually prohibits money from being spent on a wall. At a CYA press conference on Tuesday, Trump’s ridiculously chipper budget director, Mick Mulvaney, described the bill’s prohibition on building a wall as a MAJOR win. (At least Mulvaney said it in English, unlike his all-Spanish 2014 townhall.) True, there will be no wall. But the Democrats graciously agreed to allow the administration to fix broken parts of any existing fences on up to 40 miles of our 3,000 mile border. The other big wins, according to Mulvaney, are: 1) more defense spending, which is fantastic news, because I was worried Boeing and Lockheed Martin CEOs were falling behind Mark Zuckerberg with their gluttonous salaries; and 2) school choice, an obsession of Washington wonks that is hated out in America, where parents move to high-tax towns for the express purpose of avoiding schools full of disaffected urban youth, and the disaffected urban youth don’t want to spend two hours on a bus every day. But Mulvaney assures us that this monstrosity of a spending bill has set things up beautifully for the next budget negotiation in October. That has become the GOP’s official motto: “Next time!”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Republican healthcare plan would repeal the Net Investment Tax, which was a tax of higher tax brackets mandated under the Affordable Care Act meant to help subsidize insurance premiums under Obamacare. It is a tax of about 3.8 percent on investment income for higher tax brackets. In 2015, Rauner paid $6.6 million toward that tax. — DISGUSTING: The Trump administration hired an official who was accused of sexually assaulting five students – Justin Elliott  (DIERSEN: Government is nasty. Politics is nasty. Democrats are nasty. While I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, none of my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, or subordinates ever filed any kind of complaint against me. However, my Democrat superiors treated me, that is, punished me, like many complaints had not only been filed against me, but that they had been proven.  My Democrat superiors would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.)
http://www.businessinsider.com/steven-munoz-sexual-assault-2017-5
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A political appointee hired by the Trump administration for a significant State Department role was accused of multiple sexual assaults as a student several years ago at The Citadel military college. Steven Munoz was hired by the Trump administration as assistant chief of visits, running an office of up to 10 staffers charged with the sensitive work of organizing visits of foreign heads of state to the U.S. That includes arranging meetings with the president. At The Citadel, five male freshmen alleged that Munoz used his positions as an upperclassman, class president and head of the campus Republican Society to grope them. In one incident, a student reported waking up with Munoz on top of him, kissing him and grabbing his genitals. In another, on a trip to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., a student said that Munoz jumped on him in bed and he “felt jerking and bouncing on my back.” An investigation by The Citadel later found that “certain assaults likely occurred.” A local prosecutor reviewed the case and declined to seek an indictment. Munoz’s hiring raises questions about the Trump administration’s vetting of political appointees, which has been both slow and spotty, with multiple incidents of staff being fired only weeks into their jobs, including for disloyalty to Trump. The White House didn’t respond to a request for comment. Munoz, a Miami native, worked as a political consultant in South Carolina after graduating from The Citadel in 2011. He was publicly reported to be under investigation the following year around the time he was working for Rick Santorum’s presidential campaign. Stories from that time, which outline some but not all of the allegations against Munoz, are easy to find via a simple Google search.)

http://www.wnd.com/2017/04/fox-superstar-tucker-carlson-cant-stop-raving-about-eye-opening-book/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s the book Fox News’ Tucker Carlson can’t stop raving about, and now you can get “No Campus for White Men: The Transformation of Higher Education Into Hateful Indoctrination” for $4.95 today. Carlson praised “No Campus For White Men: The Transformation of Higher Education Into Hateful Indoctrination,” saying, “Something’s wrong on college campuses. Most of us are dimly aware of that. In this bracing and sometimes horrifying book, Scott Greer pulls off the bandage to reveal the suppurating wound beneath. Higher education is rotting in this country. After reading Greer’s account, you’ll think twice before sending your children off to school.” “No Campus For White Men: The Transformation of Higher Education Into Hateful Indoctrination” promises to be the most talked about book of 2017, and today only you can get it for $4.95! White supremacy runs rampant in the Trump White House, cries the left. Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon is a white supremacist, according to Nancy Pelosi and many others. CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— Parade of Democrats lines up to challenge Peter Roskam – GREG HINZ  (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout at Roskam a) that I have caused all of his problems, that I am causing all his problems, and that I will forever cause all his problems as long as I keep sending out GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails and b) that Roskam has gotten far more votes because I am no longer the TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, a Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, or an American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member.  Who does Roskam want the next Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee member for the 6th Congressional District to be?)
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20170412/BLOGS02/170419958
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Among those confirming that they either intend to run or are seriously considering doing so in Roskam’s west suburban 6th District are Amanda Howland, a lawyer and psychologist who got 42 percent of the vote against him in 2016; Barrington Hills Planning Commission member Kelly Mazeski, a former state senate hopeful and ex-financial consultant; and Carole Cheney, who now works as district chief of staff for neighboring Congressman Bill Foster, D-Geneva. Howland says she’s definitely in the contest and points to the name recognition she built up in her prior race. Mazesk is “exploring” running but is interested enough that she’s met both with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (the party’s House elections unit) and Emily’s List, a prominent women’s funding group. Cheney says she “likely” to get in the race because, “The people in the 6th Congressional District are entitled to a representative who respects and listens to them regardless of political party.” The field of possible candidates is bigger than that, though, with several other names being rumored. The biggest—one that some insiders say has DCCC’s blessing—is Maura Sullivan. I wasn’t able to reach her, but Sullivan comes right out of central casting: a former U.S. Marine and Iraq war veteran who graduated from Northwestern University, got an MBA from Harvard University, and until recently was a senior public affairs official at the Pentagon. But Sullivan also reportedly lives in Evanston, something that likely would become an issue if she moved to run. DCCC isn’t tipping its hand, other than saying that the 6th is on its short list of national targets for next year. Says a spokeswoman, “There’s no question that Rep. Peter Roskam is out of step with Illinois voters. We fully expect to have a strong recruit in the sixth district and it’s why we’ve made an unprecedented investment in the region by investing in a full-time, local organizer to harness the grassroots energy we’re seeing on the ground.” To emphasize the point, the DuPage County Democratic Organization says it’s expecting quite a turnout for its annual dinner on April, with at least three Democratic candidates for governor expected to attend: Chris Kennedy, Ameya Pawar and J.B. Pritzker. Robert Peickert, chair of the DuPage County Democratic Organization, says he hopes to build on momentum from the fall, when the party increased from 1 to 18 the number of township slots it holds in the county. However, the other 54 township positions are held by Republicans, and Roskam says he’s not sweating. “DCCC is not unknown to me. I saw them in ’06 and ’08,” he told me in a phone call. While Hillary Clinton may have out-polled Trump in the district in November, “I did better than John McCain (when he was the GOP presidential nominee) and outdid Obama in Obama’s big year (2008,) says Roskam. “I know the district and the playbook.” It looks like 2018 could be interesting.)

http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/report-troubled-past-of-kentucky-doctor-dragged-off-united-plane/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Elizabethtown, Kentucky, physician became a focus of attention not only because videos of the incident had been broadcast around the world, but also because he was convicted more than a decade ago of felony charges involving his prescribing of drugs and spent years trying to regain his medical license. In between, Dao made money playing poker, logging $234,664 in winnings, TMZ reported. . .According to records from the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, Dao went to medical school at the University of Medicine of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, graduating in 1974. He was licensed in Kentucky with a specialty in pulmonary disease. His legal troubles started in 2003, when his medical license was suspended after an undercover sting operation at a Louisville motel for allegedly writing fraudulent prescriptions. According to the documents, the licensing board had learned that Dao had become sexually interested in a patient and hired the patient as his office manager. That man later said he quit his job because Dao “pursued him aggressively” and arranged to provide him with prescription drugs in exchange for sex. Dao was ultimately convicted in late 2004 of several counts of obtaining drugs by fraud or deceit and was placed on five years of supervised probation and surrendered his medical license. His longtime effort to get his license back finally succeeded in 2015, when the licensing board allowed him to practice medicine again.)

When she arrived, she was taken aback by my house. My wife and I inherited some money and have invested wisely. Thus, we are pretty financially successful. http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170410/news/170419973/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: DuPage County Democrats Chairman Bob Peickert says he expects more than 800 attendees at the party’s annual gala April 23 in Lombard, twice the usual number. The event will feature Democratic National Committee Deputy Chair Keith Ellison and Illinois gubernatorial candidates Chris Kennedy of Kenilworth, Ameya Pawar of Chicago and J.B. Pritzker of Chicago, along with more than two dozen other state and congressional officials. Peickert, of Elmhurst, sees it as one of several signs the formerly rock-ribbed Republican territory is changing. In January, the county party held an informal meeting for local voters and 550 people showed up — 400 of them new to the organization. In November, Hillary Clinton won the county by 14 points over President Donald Trump. Gala tickets are at dupagedemocratsgala.com.)
— Big money in Bolingbrook – Kerry Lester
http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170410/news/170419973/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Major political donors swept in to help candidates in the Bolingbrook mayor’s race in the final weeks of the campaign, filings with the Illinois State Board of Elections show. Republican businessman Ron Gidwitz’ super PAC, the Economic Freedom Alliance, spent more than $36,512 to support 31-year Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar. He also spent more than $61,024 opposing challenger Jackie Traynere’s campaign. Traynere got some help from big name Democrats, including Democratic candidate Pritzker, who wrote her a $2,500 check. AFSME gave her campaign $5,000 and the American Federation of Teachers contributed $1,500. Claar had hosted a Trump fundraiser, angering some and sparking the high-profile battle.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Representative David S. Olsen (R, Downers Grove) for Bruce Rauner’s anti-hate crime bill recently filed in Springfield. The anti-hate crime bill, HB 2390, aims to change sentencing for those who commit hate crimes in Illinois. Rauner announced his plans for the new hate crime legislation in early March in response to the anti-Semitic crimes that have increased both locally and nationally. In a March 8 press release, he said, “We cannot stay silent on hate. We cannot stay silent when families in our community are in danger. The promise of ‘Never Again’ requires us to take action.” Rep. Olsen recently echoed those words in a statement of his own, “Those who would attack others, verbally or physically, based on their race, color, creed, religion or other perceived classification, need to know their behavior will not be tolerated and that the consequences for such actions will be severe.”)

Governor Sanguinetti; Radogno, Connelly, Nybo, and the rest of the Republican State Senators; Durkin, Ives, Breen, and the rest of the Republican State Representatives; DuPage County elected officials including Berlin, Kachiroubas, Grogan, Cronin, Zaruba, Hinds, Jorgensen, Bucholz, Henry, Ruscitti, Cantore, Larsen, Zay, Wiley, Eckhoff, Grant, Elliott, Murphy, and Whelan; Township elected officials including Heidorn, Hinkle, LeVan, Muehlfelt, Falbo, Nathwani, Molitor, and Keller; Wheaton elected officials including Gresk, Suess, Fitch, Scalzo, Rutledge, and Saline; Illinois Republican Party leaders including Schneider, DeMonte, Porter, Colgan, Dorgan, Higgins, Claar, and Bond; DuPage County Republican Party leaders including Krajewski, Hinds, Kachiroubas, Murphy, Keller, Minor, Marchese, Schultz, Czernek, Fisher, Cuzzone, Durante, Grogan; and Milton Township Republican leaders Keller, LeVan, Austin, and Nathwani.  My critic/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that if I was a “good Republican,” I would not include in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails links to any articles that are critical of the aforesaid people; that if I was a “good Republican,” I would only include links in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails that glorify and praise the aforesaid people.)
http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20170408/bernard-schoenburg-will-real-gop-of-illinois-stand-up-unlikely
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A mystery website, realgopillinois.com, is billing itself as “the official news site for real Republicans.” But welcome to campaign season, where things are not always as they seem. The site is professional-looking, with items presented as news stories and a solicitation for tips. AARON DeGROOT, a spokesman for the state GOP, said the site has no connection to the party and he has “no idea who these folks are.” Its creators aren’t making it easy to find out, either. A computer expert at my newspaper tells me there’s no easy way to track the origin of the site because its domain was registered anonymously. An address listed at the bottom of the group’s email is in Champaign, but turned out to be a UPS store. An employee there said they do rent mailboxes. The group name doesn’t turn up in the Illinois State Board of Elections, but it appears to have started a Facebook page recently. I emailed to find out more. The response came with no name attached. “We are just a group of everyday citizens who are upset with the Democrat Party and how they’ve ruined this state,” the response stated. “We are also upset with the Illinois GOP and Gov. (BRUCE) RAUNER. We all voted for Bruce Rauner in 2014 even though some of us were very unsure about him because of his history. Two years in, we’re disappointed in Gov. Rauner and the Illinois GOP. … With the debt mounting, taxpayers will probably be on the hook for even more and the politicians won’t care. … Gov. Rauner spends millions making sure his own people win GOP primaries and destroying other Republican candidates just because he can. Isn’t that what (House Speaker MICHAEL) MADIGAN does?”  The response also called the website a “free speech zone” and said “Republicans are afraid to criticize (Rauner) because of the money he can spend attacking people. Illinois won’t survive Mike Madigan or Bruce Rauner if we don’t stand up and speak out (about) what both political parties and their henchmen are doing now.” The site doesn’t just go after Rauner — it also has taken a swipe at CORY JOBE, the state tourism director, for contributing $1,000 to new Springfield City Council member KRISTIN DiCENSO, a Democrat, and even at the late JUDY BAAR TOPINKA, “who routinely headlined gay marriage rallies with the low-life likes of Democrats Sen. DICK DURBIN, Attorney General LISA MADIGAN, and former Gov. PAT QUINN.” STEVE BROWN, spokesman for Mike Madigan, who is also chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois, said Friday he had never heard of the site. “You’re the first to mention it,” he said.)

On September 16, 1996, I presented oral arguments to Chief Judge Posner and to Circuit Court Judges Coffey and Kanne.  On March 31, 1997, the Appellate Court agreed with me and ruled that DOT’s exemption for cars over 10 years old was invalid.)

— Experience America at the time of the Great War – George Will  (DIERSEN: My grandfather on my father’s side fought the Germans in WWI. I am 100% German national origin. All my ancestors immigrated to northeast Illinois during the 1840s and the 1850s.)
http://www.mpnnow.com/opinion/20170408/george-will-experience-america-at-time-of-great-war
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Woodrow Wilson imposed and incited extraordinary repressions: “There are citizens of the United States … born under other flags … who have poured the poison of disloyalty into the very arteries of our national life. … Such creatures of passion, disloyalty and anarchy must be crushed out. … They are infinitely malignant, and the hand of our power should close over them.” His Committee on Public Information churned out domestic propaganda instructing the public how to detect pro-German sympathies. A 22-year-old Justice Department official named J. Edgar Hoover administered a program that photographed, fingerprinted and interrogated 500,000 suspects. Local newspapers published the names of people who were not buying war bonds or otherwise supporting the war. People were fired or ostracized for insufficient enthusiasm. The Espionage Act of 1917 made it a crime to “collect, record, publish or communicate” information useful to the enemy. In Illinois, Robert Prager, a German-American coal miner suspected of spying, was stripped, marched through the streets and hanged. The Washington Post deplored such “excesses” but applauded the “healthful and wholesome awakening in the interior part of the country.” Josef Hofer and his two brothers were South Dakota Hutterites whose faith forbade any involvement in war, including wearing a military uniform. They were arrested in March 1918, and a week after the armistice they were sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Arriving at the military prison around midnight, they stood naked for hours in a 17-degree November night. Then they were suspended naked from the bars of their cells, their feet barely touching the ground, refusing to wear the uniforms left in their cells. Fed only bread and water, after two weeks David Hofer was allowed to telegraph Josef’s wife, telling her that her husband was dying. He died the morning after she arrived. Prison guards mocked his corpse by dressing it in a uniform. The U.S. military was the world’s 17th largest in April 1917, smaller (less than 250,000) than Romania’s, and smaller than Britain’s casualties in one battle. America’s military became a melting pot for a nation in which one-third of the population had been born abroad or whose parents had been. Forty-three languages were spoken in one Army division raised in New York. One group was ineligible for melting: Printed at the bottom of draft registration cards were these words: “If person is of African descent, tear off this corner.”)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Google expands fact checking in news searches – AP  (DIERSEN: What about slant-check?  Virtually everything on the internet is slanted to promote the Democrat (D) Party platform, the Libertarian (L) Party platform, the Green (G) platform, or the Republican (R) Party platform. If I had more time, I would designate all articles linked in GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails as being D, L, G, and/or R.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/sns-bc-us-tec–google-news-fact-check-20170407-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Google will expand the use of “fact check” tags in its search results — the tech industry’s latest effort to combat false and misleading news stories. People who search for a topic in Google’s main search engine or the Google News section will see a conclusion such as “mostly true” or “false” next to stories that have been fact checked. Google has been working with more than 100 news organizations and fact-checking groups , including The Associated Press, the BBC and NPR. Their conclusions will appear in search results as long as they meet certain formatting criteria for automation. Google said only a few of those organizations, including PolitiFact and Snopes.com, have already met those requirements; The Washington Post also says it complies. Google said it expects the ranks of compliant organizations to grow following Friday’s announcement. Not all news stories will be fact checked. Multiple organizations may reach different conclusions; Google will show those separately. Still unanswered is whether these fact-check analyses will sway people who are already prone to believe false reports because they confirm preconceived notions. Glenn Kessler, who writes “The Fact Checker” column at The Washington Post, said in an email that Google’s efforts should at least “make it easier for people around the world to obtain information that counters the spin by politicians and political advocacy groups, as well as purveyors of ‘fake news.'” He added that “over time, I expect that people increasingly will want to read a fact-check on a controversial issue or statement, even if the report conflicts with their political leanings.” Google started offering fact check tags in the U.S. and the U.K. in October and expanded the program to a handful of other countries in the subsequent months. Now the program is open to the rest of the world and to all languages. False news and misinformation, often masquerading as trustworthy news that spreads on social media, has gained attention since the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Google’s announcement comes a day after Facebook launched a resource to help users spot false news and misleading information that spreads on its service. The resource is basically a notification that pops up for a few days. Clicking on it takes people to tips and other information on how to spot false news and what to do about it.)

ALTON DAILY NEWS
— Revenue Estimate Not Expected This Year – Greg Bishop  (DIERSEN: What revenue estimates for 2017 do the following have: your Republican township/ward party organization, your Republican county party organization, and the Illinois Republican Party? On what do the aforesaid organizations plan to spend that money?)
http://altondailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=17&id=241023#.WOi5WYjyuM8
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican state Rep. Keith Wheeler disagreed and said a revenue estimate is the “first step” to budgeting. “You can always amend a revenue estimate, so if we see changes in revenue from whatever stream it may come, or not, we can adjust it as we go along. It’s happened in the past. I checked the records,” Wheeler said. “It’s something we should start with. It’s an easy first step and it shows the taxpayers we actually care about how we spend their money.” Republican state Rep. Avery Bourne said to not have some kind of plan is irresponsible. “Just like you would in your household if you’re expecting to bring in a certain amount, you budget for that. If that changes, you can change your plan but to say that it’s uncertain at the beginning and so we just shouldn’t plan for it is exactly what we should expect out of this General Assembly maybe, but not the right way to do it.” The Illinois state constitution says in Article VIII, Section 2, paragraph (b) the General Assembly “by law shall make appropriations for all expenditures of public funds by the State. Appropriations for a fiscal year shall not exceed funds estimated by the General Assembly to be available during that year.” A state government forecasting group estimates Illinois will bring in just over $31 billion for the coming fiscal year that starts July 1.)

WASHINGTON TIMES
— The false compassion of liberalism  Do-gooders prefer giving away other people’s money rather than their own – Stephen Moore (DIERSEN: I should write a book about liberals in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who demonize me, who denigrate me, and who condemn me as someone a) who is undeservedly filthy rich, b) who does not give enough time or money to charities or churches, and c) who does not pay enough taxes. They hint/imply/argue/shout that I am undeservedly filthy rich a) because I was born a healthy White male, b) because my parents were undeservedly filthy rich, c) because I avoided the draft, d) because I have always been grossly overpaid, e) because I got married, and f) because my wife and I gave up trying to have children, we did not adopt, and we did not become foster parents.)
