This year, for the 12th year in a row, I have sought donations from Republicans so that “DuPage Republicans” can again be one of the two $2,500 “Star” sponsors and again sponsor the Wheaton high school bands and the Tunes of Glory Pipes and Drums parade entries and again have a booth at the July 3 fireworks.  Outstandingly, again this year Tim Whelan will coordinate Republican use of the booth at the fireworks. This year again, I will hand deliver flyers to the residences and businesses on the parade route that will list the Republican entries in the parade and the Republicans who helped sponsor entries. Based on the minutes of the May 23, 2017 DuPage County Board meeting, a motion will be made at this meeting to refer the matter to another committee. If you are in DuPage County, please email DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, the 18 DuPage County Board members, and especially, the 3 board members who represent your district (SEE BELOW), to vote to keep the ban. Needless-to-say, before any vote by the full Board is taken to lift the ban, public hearings should be held in each of the county’s six districts. Will 9 vote to keep the ban and 9 vote to left the ban so that Cronin can break the tie?  In 2009, I played a major role in getting the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) to unanimously pass a resolution against video gambling throughout DuPage County.
