— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Ever-increasing, those who promote illegal immigration, including those who run Chicago, make it clear that they are also anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.

— You’re fired! How to deal with it – Steve Rosen  (DIERSEN: Constructively, to be forced to retire, is the same as being fired.  In 1997, my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer.” In 1998, I dealt with that by having my attorney, Walter T. Charlton (https://www.martindale.com/arlington/virginia/walter-t-charlton-1728803-a/), file a lawsuit against GAO in Washington, DC.  In 2000, that lawsuit was transferred to Chicago.  SEE: https://gopillinois.com/documents/)

Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Approximately 100 local veterans of World War II and the Korean War got their due and the Honor Flight Chicago got its financial backing at the DuPage Veterans Foundation’s sixth annual fundraiser recently. Richard Jorgensen, the president of the foundation, told the DuPage Policy Journal that the event met its goals with flying colors. “We considered it to be a very successful event,” he said. “Our event is really two things: one, to honor World War I and Korea War-era veterans for their service, and second, it is a fundraiser to donate the money to Honor Flight Chicago. Those were the two goals of our event.” Jorgensen said the fundraiser drew more than 1,000 attendees, including Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and Chicago radio talk show host Dan Proft. Proft is a principal of Local Government Information Services, which owns this publication. Jorgensen said he estimated the fundraiser garnered approximately $55,000 this year, adding to the more than $200,000 it has raised through past events.)

CRISIS CREATIN RAUNER
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: An anti-Rauner says that Rauner said “Crisis creates opportunity. Crisis creates leverage to change … and we’ve got to use that leverage of the crisis to force structural change.”  During the 1980s and 1990s, the Democrats who ran GAO used budget cuts to get rid of GAO employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.

THE BLAZE
— What has happened to Fox News’ ratings since O’Reilly’s departure? The answer is shocking – Justin Haskins  (DIERSEN: It seems like those who have taken over Fox News want to destroy Fox News.  Those who took over TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois destroyed TAPROOT.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes glorify and praise those who took over TAPROOT.)
http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/05/21/what-has-happened-to-fox-news-ratings-since-oreillys-departure-the-answer-is-shocking/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: About one month later, Fox News has a completely different news lineup, and the results thus far have been nothing short of disastrous. On Thursday, TV Newser reported Fox News, which once dominated its competitors in virtually every timeslot, is now losing across the board in the key 25-54 demographic. The results are most notable in primetime, which used to carry Fox News’ most reliable audience. Now, Fox News is running a distant third to hosts who previously drew audiences half the size of O’Reilly’s.)

— It Was Hard This Year to Keep Politics Out of High School Yearbooks – DANA GOLDSTEIN  (DIERSEN: If there had been anything in my 1966 Crete-Monee High School yearbbok that indicated that I was a Republican, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)

WASHINGTON POST
— From ‘Nut job’ to ‘Wacko,’ Trump’s history of using insulting words mocks mental health – Amy B Wang  (DIERSEN: From what I can tell, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes call me far worse things than “nut job.”  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes count on me keeping my policy of forgiving those who trespass against me.)

— Trump, Hill Republicans target ‘overly generous compensation’ for federal employees – Joe Davidson  (DIERSEN: Overwhelmingly, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois a) want “cheap labor,” b) do not want the federal government to be a “model employer,” and c) hate federal employees and hate federal retirees.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/05/22/trump-hill-republicans-target-overly-generous-compensation-for-feds/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: With President Trump targeting federal employees’ retirement programs and House Republicans taking aim at their compensation generally, Uncle Sam’s goal of being a model employer looks shaky. The administration’s fiscal 2018 budget proposal, scheduled for release Tuesday, includes a series of cuts to retirement programs, as The Washington Post reported last week. Then, amid a torrent of reports denoting Trump as unfit, unprepared and unbecoming, Republicans took time for a hearing to promote the notion that feds are overpaid. Together, the White House and congressional actions are a clear indication of Republican intent to extract savings at the expense of the workforce. At Thursday’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chairman of the government operations subcommittee, complained “taxpayers are stuck paying for overly generous compensation” that “rewards tenure rather than performance.” Meadows, chairman of the right-wing House Freedom Caucus, always makes a point of praising “an incredibly dedicated federal workforce” and visiting their workplaces. That he is not a fed-basher demonstrates how pervasive his position is among Republicans who control Congress. With Republican Trump running the White House, Democrats are outnumbered in their attempt to protect workers from further incursions into their pocketbooks.)

— Here’s the new retirement goal: Love your job and keep working – Darla Mercado  (DIERSEN: While I worked for the Post Office 1966-1969, IRS 1971-1980, and GAO 1980-1997, few, if any of my Democrat coworkers “loved” their jobs.  They focused on helping their supervisors and superiors meet their Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion quotas, goals, and targets, that is, they helped their supervisors and superiors get rid of Post Office, IRS, and GAO employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. By way of contrast, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 33.  In addition, I served on the executive committee of a job-related professional association 1983-1996.)

AAUW
— Student loan debt is now a $1.3-trillion problem burdening 44 million borrowers. Experts are talking about the effects of student debt on the economy, but they aren’t talking about its disproportionate effects on women.  (DIERSEN: Since the 1960s, employers have been under tremendous pressure to hire, to retain, and to promote women, that is, to not hire, retain, or promote men.  To give preference to one group is to discriminate against another group.)

COLUMBIA JOURNAL REVIEW
— Trump and trickle-down press persecution – Jonathan Peters  (DIERSEN: Who focuses on delegitimizing you and delegitimizing what you do? I should write a book about those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who focus on delegitimizing me and delegitimizing my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails.  Should I retaliate?)
https://www.cjr.org/local_news/trump-and-trickle-down-press-persecution.php
(FROM THE ARTICLE: IT’S BECOME CLEAR IN RECENT MONTHS that Donald Trump’s growling at the national press has, in many ways, backfired. The New York Times and The Washington Post are producing exceptional and indignant stories about the new administration. Subscriptions have surged. Cable news ratings are hitting record highs. And nonprofit outlets like Mother Jones and ProPublica have seen a major increase in donations. Times Editor Dean Baquet put it this way in late February: “There was a long time when the press wondered about its place in society. . . What’s happened in the last couple of months, I have to say, has been tremendous for news organizations. Our mission is clearer than it’s ever been.” I’m excited about the press’s reinvigoration, too, but I’m also worried about Trump’s anti-press words and deeds—and their trickle-down consequences for state and local journalists. I contacted 16 editors or publishers of state and local newspapers in California, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas to ask if their papers had seen post-election bumps in subscriptions or readership. Their circulations range from 8,000 to 200,000 daily. Seven responded, and only one reported growth. The others didn’t know why they hadn’t seen growth or said their local focus might be to blame. I don’t want to lean too heavily on these results, which are anecdotal. But they only add to my concern that Trump’s anti-press antics will inspire unprecedented attempts to delegitimize the state and local press.)

FED SMITH
— Becoming a Thrift Savings Plan Millionaire: One Federal Employee’s Story – Dan Magneson
https://www.fedsmith.com/2017/05/21/becoming-tsp-millionaire-one-federal-employees-story/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: So, twenty years after I first bought that magazine, I can attest to the truth of the projections that those charts and graphs – and the TSP calculator – illustrate: that by making regular contributions – and contributing the maximum that you can – an ordinary, run-of-the-mill person can indeed become a millionaire. It is not just smoke-and-mirrors or a mirage and while it doesn’t happen overnight, it can happen over time. For myself, my government career can very roughly be divided into thirds: about the first 1/3 was spent working various positions between GS-3 and GS-7. The next 1/3 was spent as a GS-9, and only in the third to date have I reached a GS-11. So I am not particularly remarkable in this regard, nor am I boasting or bragging. In fact, just the opposite: By not having climbed all that far up the career ladder myself, I am simply pointing out just how possible that it still really is; this would seem to be a goal well within reach of a lot of everyday folks. And if the markets cooperate and deliver exceptionally-robust returns, it could happen sooner than you think. But the absolute worst thing you can do is convince yourself that accumulating substantial wealth is simply not attainable; if you do that, you’ll defeat yourself before you even get started. I think it was Henry Ford who said, if not verbatim, something to the effect of: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/evanston/news/ct-evr-evanston-racial-discrimination-lawsuit-tl-0504-20170519-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A former Evanston public works director Suzette Robinson is suing the city and several city officials for what the lawsuit alleges was “discrimination on the basis of race, harassment and [a] racially hostile work environment, and for retaliation.” However, Evanston’s city manager, who was named as one of the defendants in the suit, said Suzette Robinson’s race played no part in the decision to eliminate her job. “I deny Ms. Robinson’s claims in this lawsuit that race or retaliation had any role in my decision-making,” said Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz. In the complaint, filed May 27, 2016, in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Robinson asks for $75,000 in compensation, plus attorney’s fees and punitive damages. She names Bobkiewicz, the City of Evanston, city attorney W. Grant Farrar and human resources manager Jennifer Lin as defendants. According to the lawsuit, Robinson was public works director for Evanston from March 2010 until August 2015. The suit said that she was one of “three African-American employees at the department director level reporting directly to Bobkiewicz.” The complaint reads that Robinson’s position was eliminated, “effective immediately,” in August 2015 after Bobkiewicz stated “that the city planned to combine public works and utilities into one department named the public works agency.” But the lawsuit says the City Council did not approve the “proposed reorganization” until September 2015. Robinson alleges that Bobkiewicz “discriminated against her on the basis of race” and “retaliated against her” “for filing complaints about racial discrimination,” according to court documents.)

— The Conservative Force Behind Speeches Roiling College Campuses – STEPHANIE SAUL  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, schools crank out hate-filled “good little Democrats” who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/20/us/college-conservative-speeches.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE:  “Let’s give it up for the racists that are hosting this event!” someone yelled, and the crowd roared, foot-stomping in unison, then breaking into song: Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land.” One member of the audience held up a sign, “Queers Against Islamaphobia.” Another unfurled a banner: “Muslims Welcome. Fascists Get Out.” Close to 200 students kept up the noise for more than an hour in a University at Buffalo lecture hall on May 1, mostly drowning out the evening’s featured speaker, Robert Spencer, a conservative author and blogger who espouses a dark view of Islam. The event appeared to follow a familiar script, in which a large contingent of liberals muzzles a provocative speaker invited by a small conservative student club. But the propelling force behind the event — and a number of recent heat-seeking speeches on college campuses — was a national conservative group that is well funded, highly organized and on a mission, in its words, to “restore sanity at your school.” The group, the Young America’s Foundation, had paid Mr. Spencer’s $2,000 fee, trained the student leader who organized the event and provided literature for distribution. Other than the possibility of outside interference, little had been left to chance. The speeches are a part of the group’s mission of grooming future conservative leaders — Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Stephen Miller, a White House adviser, are among its alumni — and its long list of donors has included the television game show host Pat Sajak, the novelist Tom Clancy, the billionaire brothers David H. and Charles G. Koch, and the Amway billionaires Richard and Helen Devos, who gave $10 million to endow the Reagan Ranch near Santa Barbara, Calif., which the foundation runs as a preserve. (Their daughter-in-law, Betsy DeVos, the secretary of education, is not a donor, the group says.) Over the past two years, armed with a $16 million infusion from the estate of an orthodontist in California, Robert Ruhe, the organization has doubled its programming, including campus speeches. In 2016 that meant 111 speakers on 77 campuses. On the group’s website, it boasted of “dispatching” 31 speakers to colleges last month alone. In that time, the speakers have gotten edgier, more in-your-face and sometimes even meanspirited. Among them is Ann Coulter, whose canceled speech last month at the University of California, Berkeley, led the foundation, which was covering most of her $20,000 fee, to sue the college, arguing that it had violated the First Amendment in its failure to provide a suitable time and place for the event. The resulting clashes on university campuses, including protests and efforts to block speeches, have raised free speech questions. And at Berkeley, even liberals who oppose Ms. Coulter’s viewpoints said her speech should have been allowed to proceed. In the meantime, protesters have questioned whether such events are cynically intended to provoke reactions. “It’s part of a larger systematic and extremely well-funded effort to disrupt public universities and create tension among student groups on campus,” said Alexandra Prince, a doctoral student at Buffalo who circulated a petition to block Mr. Spencer.)

http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2017/05/trumps-2018-budget-reportedly-targets-federal-retirement-programs/138014/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The proposed cuts to retirement benefits sparked swift condemnation by Democrats and groups representing federal workers and retirees. Richard Thissen, national president of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, called the proposal an “egregious attack on federal service and seniors” and “unconscionable.”  “The president purports to defend government annuities like Social Security and then proposes to eliminate cost-of-living adjustments for some and limit COLAs for those already retired and living on fixed incomes,” Thissen said. “It is beyond insulting. It is downright mean. Simultaneously promoting tax cuts and forcing a tax on just federal employees, through an increase in retirement contributions, is the height of hypocrisy.” J. David Cox, national president of the American Federation of Government Employees blasted the plan as something that “defies reason.” “The American people knows what’s fair, and raiding the already-modest retirement benefits of the people who inspect our food and lock up dangerous criminals is beyond the pale,” Cox said. “These proposals portray an astounding misplacement of priorities that the American public should not soon forget.” And Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., said cuts to federal retirement benefits will hurt the government’s ability to attract workers capable of fulfilling the missions of various federal agencies. “The biggest losers from President Trump’s draconian cuts to federal employee pay and benefits will be the American people who count on dedicated federal employees to care for our veterans, maintain our national parks, and process Social Security checks each and every day,” Connolly said. “Cuts of this magnitude will make it impossible to recruit and retain the qualified workforce we need to meet our nation’s challenges.”)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/05/18/trumps-budget-calls-for-hits-on-federal-employee-retirement-programs/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But in real terms, the civilian increase would be less than it looks if proposed hits on retirement benefits are adopted. Trump’s fiscal 2018 budget would: . . . Cut the COLA for Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) employees by 0.5 percent from what the formula would allowed . . . The thought of Trump’s assault on federal retirement programs becoming law enrages federal employee leaders.  National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association President Richard Thissen called Trump’s plan “beyond insulting. It is downright mean. Simultaneously promoting tax cuts and forcing a tax on just federal employees, through in an increase in retirement contributions, is the height of hypocrisy.”)

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170515/news/170519177/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Voters approved a ballot question that makes the township establish a board devoted to improving the availability and quality of services for township residents with mental illness, addiction, and developmental disabilities. Ed Levato was township supervisor when the referendum was placed on the ballot after a successful petition drive organized by a group of residents. He said Monday that township staff members were simply misinformed when they told a Daily Herald reporter before the election that the ballot question was advisory. “They were not given any information about it,” he said. “It wasn’t our referendum. It was a citizens’ initiative.” Levato apologized for the miscommunication. He said he personally didn’t support the measure. “It’s a huge tax increase,” Levato said. According to preliminary estimates, owners of homes valued at $240,000 would pay about $56 a year in property taxes to support the mental health board. The tax is expected to be collected for the first time next year. However, Michael Murray, chairman of the committee that backed the referendum, said their campaign made it clear to residents that some type of tax increase would be necessary to fund the mental health board. The panel will use the money to award grants to agencies that provide detection, early diagnosis, education, assistance and treatment programs.)

Rauner that he refused to answer. “If Gov. Rauner refuses to answer my questions as a reporter, then I might have to move my questions to a different arena,” Kelly said. Gov. NEW YORK TIMES
— Life and Combat for Republicans at Berkeley – THOMAS FULLER  (DIERSEN: Democrats run the federal government.  If I had been active in Republican politics while I was in school, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/08/us/republicans-at-berkeley-college.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On this famously liberal campus, it is easy to dismiss Berkeley Republicans as an oxymoron. Being a Republican at the University of California, Berkeley, is hard, conservative students say, a crucible of ideological combat. Some said they had been mocked, spat on and punched. Founded in the 1960s, the Berkeley College Republicans have remained a small and tightknit club, today numbering a few dozen active members. But Republican alumni have gone on to prominent jobs: Michael Anton is a senior national security official in the Trump administration. Alex Marlow is editor in chief of Breitbart News. Claire Chiara, a graduating senior and past president of the Berkeley College Republicans, was one of the youngest delegates to the Republican National Convention last year. The College Republicans made national headlines in recent weeks when the group invited Ann Coulter, the right-wing writer and provocateur, to speak. In February, anarchist protesters had violently broken up a planned speech on campus by the right-wing journalist Milo Yiannopoulos, and the university’s administration and the club haggled over a date and a “protectable” venue for Ms. Coulter; she ended up not coming. Berkeley’s Republicans have turned the tables on liberals at the campus, championing free speech and putting a conservative claim on one of the university’s proudest liberal legacies. Last month, the group and another conservative student organization sued administrators for what they said was discrimination against conservative speakers. They have co-opted the language of the left, portraying themselves as fighting intolerance. Not all Berkeley Republicans agree with their tactics — some describe it as unnecessarily provocative.)

From what I saw working for the federal government for almost 30 years, the more of the following that you did, the faster and higher that you get promoted: a) be a Democrat, b) promote the Democrat Party platform, c) help your superiors retain and promote their employees who are Democrat, minority, female, and/or younger, and d) help your superiors get rid of their employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/05/08/the-sammies-therapy-for-feds-during-tough-times-under-trump/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Federal employees could use some good news. With President Trump’s proposed budget cuts for many agencies and the planned elimination of 19 small agencies looming, the potential loss of thousands of jobs leaves feds anxious. So, the annual Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal finalists announcement comes at an appropriate time. While specific federal employees are nominated for the awards, they also point to the impressive work done by the workforce generally. Twenty-six finalists, including teams, will be acknowledged at a breakfast Tuesday in the Dirksen Senate Office Building as part of Public Service Recognition Week. The medal winners in seven categories, including federal employee of the year and the new “promising innovations” group, will be honored at a gala in September. “The federal innovators recognized for this years’ Service to America Medals represent the passion and hard work demonstrated every day by government workers throughout the country,” said Max Stier, president and chief executive of the Partnership for Public Service, the nonpartisan good government group that sponsors the awards. “Federal leaders must create a climate where talented people will want to serve in government and tap into the desire of young people to make a difference for our country. That starts by celebrating the many outstanding contributions that our nation’s civil servants are making for society.” But does that climate exist under Trump?)
