— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Needless-to-say, the worst national origin to have is German. What if I had lied and successfully claimed Swedish ancestry? During the 1840s and 1850s, all my ancestors immigrated to northeast Illinois from what is now Germany. Of course, needless-to-say, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always used that against me as well as the fact that I was baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran and I lived in Crete 1948-1972. In my defense, I stress that my grandfather on my father’s side fought the Germans during WWI, that my uncles on my mother’s side fought the Germans during WWII, and that my father would have fought the Germans during WWII if he had not been 4-F. Further, according to http://dna.ancestry.com, my ancestry is 33% Europe West, 28% Scandinavia, 24% Great Britain, 11% Ireland, 2% Europe East, 1% Finland/Northwest Russia, and 1% Italy/Greece. Again, what if I had lied and successfully claimed Swedish ancestry?

Today, he owns 94 dealerships, 15 of which are Chevrolet stores, from the Carolinas to California (none in Michigan). But the Corvette that Hendrick, 70, bought on Saturday is in a different league. It’s the one of his boyhood dreams. It is the first mid-engine 2020 Corvette Stingray. “I’ve been going to those auctions for 25 to 30 years and I’ve bought a lot of No.1s at auction for charity,” Hendrick told the Free Press this week. “But nothing like this car. This had bidders from all over the world. It was so much drama. When you have the CEO of General Motors on the stage, that’s a big deal.” Hendrick happens to own one of the largest private collections of Corvettes in the world, including several with VIN number 0001. He is a member of the Corvette Hall of Fame Class of 2015. So it’s fitting that the mid-engine Corvette with VIN number 0001 would wind up in Hendrick’s garage, even at an eye-popping $3 million. The money is donated to the Detroit Children’s Fund.)

— Warren Pledges Major Overhaul of Federal Hiring and Ethics Laws The Democratic presidential contender pledges to use executive branch experience to rebuild the civil service. – ERIC KATZ (DIERSEN: GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job. IRS hired me in 1971 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job. The Post Office hired me in 1966 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job.)
https://www.govexec.com/management/2020/01/warren-pledges-major-overhaul-federal-hiring-and-ethics-laws/162583/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Among her priorities, she said, would be ensuring agencies have full staffing. All but three Cabinet-level departments have shed jobs under Trump. “To implement the kind of big, structural changes I have proposed, we will need to address the substantial vacancies in career civil service positions left behind by the Trump administration,” Warren said, adding, “If our government doesn’t have good people, it can’t perform for the American people. The senator promised to empower the Office of Personnel Management to award direct hire authority more often, which allows agencies to skip the hoops they must normally jump through when recruiting. She would also direct agencies to use more expedited hiring for veterans and to bring back feds who had left government. Warren would task OPM with ensuring agencies use specific hiring authorities granted to them. The presidential candidate would also seek to increase diversity in the federal ranks by boosting recruiting at historically black colleges and universities, creating fellowships that target marginalized communities and creating pathways so more minority employees could climb to executive level positions. She noted the Senior Executive Service specifically has endured a significant number of departures since Trump took office, which drained “the agencies of long-held expertise and institutional knowledge.”)

FED WEEK
— GS Pay System May Hamper Reskilling Programs, MSPB Says (DIERSEN: GAO audits IRS. In 1980, when I was 31 years old, according to the Democrats who ran GAO, I was NOT qualified to transfer in from IRS as a GS-12 Step 5, currently $93,592/year. They insisted that I accept a downgrade to GS-9 Step 10, currently $76,274/year, a pay cut of $20,157/year (21%) in today’s dollars. They never would have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran. I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul. I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976. I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $85,084-$96,431/year. I had earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970. Much of what I did for IRS was very similar to what I would be doing for GAO including interviewing, gathering data, summarizing data, analyzing data, report writing, and making recommendations.)

(FROM THE LETTER: Recently, the Government Accountability Office, a component of Congress, found President Trump guilty of withholding funds from the Ukrainians (“Trump says GAO is part of ‘the Swamp’ after watchdog finds he broke law on Ukraine aid,” Web, Jan. 17). Let’s be clear: The GAO is a deep-state creature composed of bureaucrats who are left-wing sympathizers and anti-Trumpers. The malaise which infects the general federal bureaucracy that created the deep state likewise is at work in the purportedly bipartisan GAO. The American people have lost their power to influence the direction of the country by the election of the president. Instead, lifelong left-leaning bureaucrats serve as a resistance mechanism working against the will of the people, who seek to move the country in the direction of constitutional integrity and traditional ideals. The American people must deal with the problem of the deep state by forcefully asserting their will at the ballot box until the scourge of the deep state has been purged and democracy is restored to the nation.)

PJ MEDIA
— Progressives Treat the Unequal as Equal – PHILIP CARL SALZMAN (DIERSEN: What did you do to qualify yourself for better paying jobs? I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32.)
https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/progressives-treat-the-unequal-as-equal/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In the 21st century in America and elsewhere, self-described progressives strove to display virtue and gain power through advocating a maximalist position on equality. Equality of opportunity, still imperfectly implemented, was jettisoned in favor of equality of result or outcome. Any inequality, from whatever source, was deemed by progressive to be evil and requiring correction. This has led to the attempt by progressives to treat inequalities among parties as illegitimate, and imposed equality as obligatory. As a result, many new proposed equalities were specious. Here are some examples. Progressives, including most Democrats and most candidates for the Democratic nomination for president, now claim equality and equivalence between criminal illegal aliens who have entered the country by stealth, and legal immigrants who have been admitted by government procedures, and citizens. Progressives advocate open borders, allowing anyone who arrives to enter the country, and providing for them the same medical and welfare benefits given to legal immigrants and native-born citizens. One reason for supporting open borders is that progressives see America as an oppressive race hierarchy, and open borders would allow the intake of multitudes of people of color, thus displacing the evil American whites. Progressives do not think that illegal aliens, even criminals, should be expelled, and demand that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) be restricted or disbanded. Many Democrat-controlled jurisdictions have declared themselves sanctuaries for illegal immigrants, flouting laws passed by Congress.)

— Shocker: ‘Nonpartisan’ GAO’s Union Overwhelmingly Supports Dems – Joseph Vazquez (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes side with my Democrat GAO superiors and the adverse actions that they took against me. I should write a book about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes. I would focus on past and present members of the Milton Township Republican Organization, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Illinois Republican Party, TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Center Right Coalition, and American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter. I would focus on past and present employees of Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, and Illinois who claim to be religious, conservative, and/or Republican.)
https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/business/joseph-vazquez/2020/01/20/shocker-nonpartisan-gaos-union-overwhelmingly-supports-dems
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Government Accountability Office (GAO) said Jan. 16 that President Donald Trump broke the law when he withheld aid from Ukraine. The union for that “independent, nonpartisan” agency naturally supports Democrats. Just don’t expect the media to tell you about it. The GAO calls itself an “independent, nonpartisan” congressional agency. Liberal outlets, continuing the media-driven impeachment crusade, gave full credence to the GAO’s self-proclaimed “nonpartisan” status. The GAO Employees Organization and its bureaucrats are currently represented by the International Federation of Professionals and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), AFL-CIO & CLC, a labor union that represents workers in both the U.S. and Canada. Here’s the problem: IFPTE’s political action committee gave 100 percent of its political contributions ($36,250) to Democratic candidates in 2016, 89 percent of its political contributions ($61,950) to Democratic candidates in 2018, and currently 75 percent of its political contributions ($26,900) to Democratic candidates for the 2020 electoral cycle. The GAO Employees Organization, “the union and professional association” of GAO bureaucrats, stated in its website that it “is an affiliate of IFPTE, designated as IFPTE Local 1921, named after the year GAO was created.” If your credibility as an agency hinges on you being “independent, nonpartisan,” why do your bureaucrats choose to be represented by a union that’s overtly partisan? Moreover, why are liberal media outlets ignoring this? The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page assistant editor James Freeman wrote a Jan. 17 op-ed acknowledging the IFPTE donations in 2016, and said this raises a “reasonable question about the use of the term ‘nonpartisan’” when referencing the GAO. No kidding? The Los Angeles Times editorial board published an entire puff piece Jan. 17, headlined: “Editorial: Unlike Lev Parnas, the GAO has no credibility problem. It also says Trump broke the law.” In the piece, The LA Times Editorial Board called the agency “resolutely nonpartisan.” No mention of the GAO-IFPTE connection, nor the latter’s apparent political bias was found in the piece. But The LA Times wasn’t the only outlet to ignore this connection. The New York Times, in its Jan. 16 report on the GAO’s assessment of the Trump-Ukraine issue, also touted that “The accountability office is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress.” No mention of the GAO-IFPTE connection in The Times piece. Politico also, in a Jan. 16 report, referred to the GAO as “an independent nonpartisan government watchdog that responds to congressional requests,” without mentioning it’s union’s affiliation with the IFPTE or the IFPTE PAC’s history of giving vastly disproportionate amounts of cash to Democrats. The Washington Post published a piece on Jan. 16, where they were sure to note the GAO’s independence in a sub-headline: “The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office severely undermines a core Trump impeachment defense” [emphasis added]. No mention of the GAO-IFPTE connection in that Post piece, however. Pleading for the president’s impeachment is all that matters at this point for the liberal media. And if haphazardly saying the partisanly-suspect GAO is “independent” and “nonpartisan” does the trick, c’est la vie.)

What would your critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes use against you? (FROM THE ARTICLE: Who are you, really? That’s a question most employers want to know the answer to. Beyond your cover letter and resume or CV, what are you about? Are you trustworthy, respectful, responsible? Are you a hard worker? Will you follow through on promises? Because most people are on their best behavior during the interview process, it can be hard for hiring managers or employers to tell. So they do the same thing your Bumble date does: they Google you. In particular, they look at your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media profiles you have publicly available. Then they browse. Or scope. Or scour. According to a survey by CareerBuilder, a full 70 percent of employers “use social media to screen candidates before hiring.” Even more striking is the follow-on statistic: 54 percent of employers surveyed said they chose not to hire a candidate based on content found on their social media profile(s). Of those hiring managers who chose not to hire someone due to their social media presence, the top reasons given for why were that candidates had:

1. Posted provocative or inappropriate photos, videos or information (39 percent)
2. Posted information about drinking or using drugs (38 percent)
3. Made discriminatory comments related to race, gender, religion (32 percent)
4. Bad-mouthed previous company or fellow employee (30 percent)
5. Lied about qualifications (27 percent)
6. Had poor communication skills: 27 percent
7. Been linked to criminal behavior: 26 percent
8. Shared confidential information from previous employers: 23 percent
9. Had an unprofessional screen name: 22 percent
10. Lied about an absence: 17 percent)
