June 25 Morning Edition

GOVERNOR RAUNER
— A beautiful Sunday to celebrate Pride Day in Chicago! (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, the future looks bleak for those who support the traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. To promote LGBTQ activity is to dump those voters who support the traditional family plank in the IRP platform. To promote abortion is to dump those voters who support the right to life plank in the IRP platform. To promote illegal immigration is to dump those voters who support the immigration plank in the IRP platform. Ever-increasingly, Rauner seems to promise that if he is reelected, he will drive those who support the aforesaid planks out of the IRP once and for all, that is, that he will destroy the IRP once and for all. If Rauner is reelected, he will dump those who support the aforesaid planks. If Rauner is not reelected, he will blame those who support the aforesaid planks.)

NBC5
— Corporate America Increasingly Avoids Gun-Industry Business In the wake of high-profile mass shootings, corporate America has been taking a stand against the firearms industry amid a lack of action by lawmakers on gun control – Lisa Marie Pane (DIERSEN: Those who are anti-Second Amendment are most commonly also anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

— Democratic insurgents want to ‘abolish ICE.’ Democrats aren’t there yet. – David Weigel (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Democrats make it clear that they want to get rid of individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries that are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/politics/ct-democrats-ice-analysis-20180624-story.html
— Democrats Hoping to Flip House Not Just Trash-Talking Trump (DIERSEN: Anti-Trumps make it extremely clear that the more that you support Trump, the harder that they will work to destroy you. How successful have the anti-Trumps been in getting the Republican candidates on the November 6 ballot in your precinct a) to play down their support for Trump, b) to not support Trump, and c) to demonize, denigrate, and condemn Trump? How soon will anti-Trumps post signs that say that members of the following groups are NOT WELCOME: Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older people, rich people, gun owners, German Americans, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time?)
https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/democrats-hoping-to-flip-house-not-just-trash-talking-trump-486402771.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The party is encouraging the “all politics is local” approach despite the temptation to focus on the Republican president’s tweets. U.S. Rep. Denny Heck, of Washington, is helping lead the Democrat’s effort to pick up the 23 seats needed to regain control of the House. He said trash talking Trump will only go so far. Republicans also are encouraging House candidates to focus on local issues instead of the latest national headlines.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— FRONT PAGE ARTICLE TITLE: 6 months in, abortion law having impact – Angie Leventis Lourgos
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-met-abortion-medicaid-taxpayer-funded-illinois-20180523-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner outraged his party’s conservative base by signing the legislation in September. Then in the March primary he narrowly defeated challenger Jeanne Ives, a state lawmaker whose televised campaign ad featured a young woman thanking the governor “for making all Illinois families pay for my abortions.” Anti-abortion organizations along with some Republican lawmakers sued to block the measure and, after a judge dismissed their case, appealed to the Illinois State Supreme Court in February. The suit is pending. “The fact that the government is using taxpayer money to fund abortion is reprehensible to me,” said Tim Moore, president of Springfield Right to Life, one of the plaintiffs. “I’m subsidizing an immoral act. I’m subsidizing the culture of death. The government, which is supposed to protect life, is willfully taking part in the slaughter of innocents.”)

— Another whack at Illinois pension spiking. Good. – Editorial (DIERSEN: Have you benefited from a pension spike? My critics/opponents would say that I did. They would say that the only reason why my Democrat GAO superiors promoted me to GS-13 in 1986 and gave me step increases in subsequent years was to get my “high 3” salary, and therefore my pension, high enough that I would cave in and take their a) early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old, if not take b) their $25,000 buyout “offer” in 1993 when I was 45 years old.)

— Here’s how successful people meet their goals – Marcel Schwantes (DIERSEN: Democrats run the federal government. If you are a non-veteran White male federal employee who want to be successful, that is, if you want to make GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40, you should a) become a Democrat, b) paint yourself as being a yes-man, and c) help your superiors get rid of their employees who are non-veteran, White, and/or male who did not make the aforesaid promotions.)

They continue to hint/imply/argue/shout that we would not have been able to do that a) if I had not avoided the draft, b) if the federal government had not grossly overpaid me, and c) if we had not given up trying to have children, if we had adopted, or if we had become foster parents.)

— Lawmakers Call for an Investigation Into Discipline at VA – Eric Katz (DIERSEN: When will Republicans call for an investigation into discipline at GAO, IRS, and the Post Office? My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

GAO, while Hickey served as Peter Fitzgerald’s Chief of Staff, Fitzgerald appointed both the district court judge, Amy J. St. Eve, and the attorney who represented GAO, Patrick Fitzgerald. All of the aforesaid made it very clear that they favored patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. Eve granted Patrick Fitzgerald’s motion to deny me my 7th Amendment rights, that is, to deny me a jury trial. Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes used that to hint/imply/argue/shout that Peter Fitzgerald, Hickey, Eve, and Patrick Fitzgerald viewed me as being someone who was lazy, stupid, bad, and even worse things.)

Brown initially told the Sun-Times there was a cap of $50,000 but later said “the final version of the contract does not have a cap.” . . . When Hickey left Rauner’s administration, the governor said in a statement that “her objectivity and fairness can be a model for public servants.” Hickey helped to lead a health care fraud elimination task force and also led an investigation into the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services that uncovered multiple flaws. Hickey left the administration to join the Schiff Hardin LLP law firm as a partner. Hickey also served as an investigative counsel for a U.S. Senate committee and as the chief of staff for former Sen. Peter Fitzgerald, R-Ill. But as a Rauner political appointee, she was blocked by Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, as well as Mayor Rahm Emanuel last year to replace former U.S. Attorney Zach Fardon in the Northern District of Illinois.)

http://www.breitbart.com/2018-elections/2018/06/17/gop-pr-ryan-amnesty-not-amnesty-you-are-looking-for/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The message tries to downplay the demand by GOP donors for more cheap labor, yet it describes immigration as a tool for business groups and also reveals that Ryan plans to expand the H-2B visa-worker program. Some of the phrases chosen by McMorris Rodgers are even plagiarized from pro-amnesty speeches by President Barack Obama, who also supported cheap-labor immigration.)
— Schumer: Ryan’s Amnesty Bill is ‘Doomed to Fail’ For Cutting Legal Immigration – Neil Munro
http://www.breitbart.com/immigration/2018/06/18/schumer-ryan-amnesty-bill-doomed-fail/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: No immigration bill can get through the Senate without support from 60 Senators. That high number means a bill has to be backed by roughly 15 Democratic Senators plus nearly all of the GOP’s cheap-labor caucus, which includes at least 20 Senators out of the 51 GOP members in the Senate. In February, for example, Sen. Susan Collins and eight other GOP Senators pushed a surprise bill that would have provided a priority-amnesty for all 8 million illegal immigrants who are holding jobs.)

I opposed patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. I refused to help my superiors get rid of their employees because they were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. — Other pensions can put Social Security benefits at risk – Elliot Raphaelson (DIERSEN: My Social Security is dramatically reduced, it is only $2,064/year, because I get a Civil Service Retirement System pension. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/sns-201806051948–tms–savingsgctnzy-a20180605-20180605-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: he most common complaints I hear from readers about Social Security relate to the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). These provisions reduce Social Security benefits, and those affected don’t believe they are fair. One class of people affected are those who receive a pension from a job in which they haven’t paid Social Security FICA taxes, such as public-sector workers like police officers and firefighters. Many federal, state and local employees are enrolled in retirement systems that are not part of Social Security. Federal employees hired before 1984 who stayed under Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) are affected. Federal workers who retired under the newer Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) are not subject to WEP because they paid Social Security FICA taxes. Some foreign workers are also affected.)

But of course, my critics/opponents reject that. They hint/imply/argue/shout that Oldsmobile withdrew its job offer because it found out from my Firestone Stores boss that I was a bad person. My Firestone Stores boss did not hire me. His superiors hired me and sent me to his store. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/15/business/men-unemployment-jobs.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: With unemployment at 3.8 percent, its lowest level in many years, the labor market seems healthy. But that number hides a perplexing anomaly: The percentage of men who are neither working nor looking for work has risen substantially over the past several decades. The issue, in economist’s jargon, is labor force participation. When the Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys households, every adult is put into one of three categories. Those who have a job are employed. Those who are not working but are searching for a job are unemployed. Those who are neither working nor looking for work are counted as out of the labor force. This last group is ignored when calculating the unemployment rate. The presumption is that if a person without a job isn’t looking for one, then he or she doesn’t want one, and the joblessness is not a problem. But is that really accurate? The data show some striking changes over time. Among women, the share out of the labor force has fallen from 66 percent in 1950 to 43 percent today. That is not surprising in light of changing social norms and the greater career opportunities now open to women. Men, however, exhibit the opposite long-term trend. In 1950, 14 percent of men were out of the labor force. Today, that figure stands at 31 percent. Some of this change is easy to explain. People now spend more years in school, delaying their start of work. In addition, as life expectancy rises, people have longer retirements. A man retiring at age 65 in 1950 could expect to live another 13 years. Today, a man retiring at that age has an average retirement of 18 years. Yet schooling and retirement explain only part of what has occurred. Consider prime-age men, those from the ages of 25 to 54. These men are generally well past their schooling and well before their retirement. Yet this group has also been exiting the labor force. In 1950, only 4 percent of prime-age men were not working or looking for work. Today, that figure is 11 percent.)

For me, it was the automotive industry. By the time I graduated from NIU in 1970, I had bought three new cars – a 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint, 1968 Oldsmobile 442, and 1969 Dodge Charger SE. In 1970, I accepted a job offer from Firestone Stores. In 1971, I accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile. But Oldsmobile withdrew that job offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. That directly resulted in my accepting a job offer from IRS.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/15/your-money/college-graduation-career-advice.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Ms. Golinkin promotes herself as a mix of ad hoc therapist, master networker, recruiter and job whisperer. She draws on her experience in publishing, where, she said, she hired more than 200 young adults. “I managed them and coached them and brought them on to some really great careers,” she said. “I helped them realize their full potential.” On the surface, college graduates have it good. The unemployment rate for adults 25 and older with a college degree dropped to 2.0 percent in May, compared with 3.9 percent for those in the same age group with a high school diploma and 5.4 percent for those who did not graduate from high school, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Overall unemployment was 3.8 percent in May, an 18-year low. But what those statistics do not show is how workers feel about the quality of their jobs and whether the jobs are leading to a career. They also do not dip into the pressure graduates can feel to find a job that is meaningful.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “It is a very personal decision to see if the advantages of learning new skills offset the cost of returning to education.” And the cost can be high. Graduate courses at public universities can be up to $700 per credit, while a single course at a private college can cost more than $3,300. That means that it can cost anywhere from $20,000 to more than $100,000 to earn an advanced degree. I did. In 1970, when I was 21 years old, after I earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU, I accepted the only job offer that I got – working for the Firestone Store in Chicago Heights. I was draft bait. Potential employers did not believe that my application for a financial hardship would be granted. Further, employers were under tremendous pressure to hire minorities, females, and veterans. 7 months later, after my application had been approved, my Firestone boss fired me when I told him that I had accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile. But Oldsmobile withdrew that job offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. That directly resulted in my accepting a job offer from IRS. http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20180614/NEWS10/180619938/metra-pays-the-price-for-being-frugal
(FROM THE ARTICLE: With a sticker price of $3 million for a new commuter rail car, the cash-strapped Metra system is trying to upgrade its vintage rolling stock on the cheap with $700,000-a-car gut and rehab jobs at its 49th Street Car Shop on the South Side. There’s a lot to overhaul, because 40 percent of Metra’s existing fleet predates the system’s launch in the 1980s. Some cars still in use, inherited from private railroads that once ran suburban service, date back to the Eisenhower administration.)

— Black Unemployment In Illinois Tops Other States – MAUREEN FOERTSCH MCKINNEY (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have a low opinion of Blacks. According to them, the federal government should be and is the “employer of last resort.” According to them, a) instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a Black in 1966, b) the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a Black could have my job, c) instead of me, IRS should have hired a Black in 1971, d) instead of me, IRS should have promoted Blacks in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) instead of me, GAO should have hired a Black in 1980, f) instead of me, GAO should have promoted a Black in 1986, and g) GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a Black could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

— Sun-Times CEO Eisendrath fires back at critics (DIERSEN: He who pays the piper calls the tunes. No one calls my tunes. My critics/opponents cannot take away my $51,864/year Civil Service Retirement System pension, my $18,000/year federal health/dental/vision insurance subsidy, or my $2,064 Social Security.)
http://www.robertfeder.com/2018/06/13/robservations-sun-times-ceo-eisendrath-fires-back-critics/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sun-Times CEO Edwin Eisendrath is responding to critics who’ve questioned whether the paper can cover politics and City Hall fairly under its current ownership. Foremost among them is Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass, who challenged the connection between Sun-Times chairman Jorge Ramirez and his boss, investment executive Michael Sacks, whom Kass described as Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s “money guy, closest confidant and top fundraiser.” This week Eisendrath fired back: “The truth is the journalists do their job, and they’re not being bossed around by anyone on our board. That line is held, and it’s been clear. I don’t see any evidence that anybody is walking around me and talking to the reporters and trying to push them to do anything,” he told me. “The same way I’m able to say — in spite of clear evidence that the Tribune has a corporate point of view and a political point of view — I’m able to give credit to the journalists for the work they do. And I would expect Kass to do the same thing. . . . It’s fair to go after corporate citizenship. You bet it is. But that’s a different case. That’s not what he did. He said the reporters are going to get their marching orders from City Hall. Shame on him. He knows better.”)

June 13 Evening Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING SPONSOR WHEATON’S INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE! So far, $1,550 has been pledged, but $950 more is needed. Illinois Republican Party leader and Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar has pledged $500 and Judge Jeff MacKay has pledged $250. Bob Berlin, Tim Elliott, Amy Grant, Paul Hinds, Marty Keller, Dave Molitor, Peter Roskam, and Darlene Ruscitti have made $100 pledges.

As a $2,500 Star sponsor, DuPage County Republicans will get credit for sponsoring the Tunes of Glory bagpipers and the Wheaton North and South High School bands. DuPage Republicans will again have a booth at the fireworks the evening before the parade. I will again hand deliver a flyer to all the residences and businesses on the parade route that lists the sponsors and the amount that they contributed. Please phone me at 630-653-0462 about sponsorship and mail a check made out to the Wheaton Park District for $100 or more to me ASAP at 915 Cove Court, Wheaton, Illinois 60189-6326.

So far, Republican entries in the parade are Peter Roskam, Peter Breen/Amy Grant, Paul Hinds, James Mendrick, Grant Eckhoff/Tim Elloitt/Chris Zaruba, Jeff McKay, Karen Wilson, and Milton Township Republican Central Committee. Please help me encourage Republican candidates on November 6, 2018 ballots in Wheaton a) to have an entry in Wheaton’s Independence Day parade and b) to help sponsor the parade. Those candidates include Bruce Rauner and Evelyn Sanguinetti, Erika Harold, Jason Helland, Darlene Senger, Jim Dodge, Mike Connelly, Chris Nybo, Darlene Ruscitti, Dan Cronin, Gwen Henry, Kevin Wiley, Jim Zay, Al Murphy, and Joseph Cantore. I was a federal employee for almost 30 years and I have been a federal retiree for almost 21 years. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupe’s hint/imply/argue/shout that past and present Republican U.S. Senators and Republican U.S. Representatives have thrown me under the bus and flushed me down the toilet.)
https://www.federaltimes.com/federal-oversight/congress/2018/06/13/republicans-to-trump-axe-fed-targeting-executive-orders/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Members of President Donald Trump’s own party called out recent executive orders targeting federal employee unions, due process and official time use as an attempt to undermine existing law. The executive orders, signed May 25, make it easier for agencies to fire federal employees under investigation for misconduct while calling for the renegotiation of agency contracts with employee unions. They also limit the use of official time, which allows federal employees to conduct union activities such as representing employees in disputes and negotiating contracts with the agency, to no more than 25 percent of an employees work time. “We are concerned that the recent executive orders embark on a path that will undo many of the long-standing principles protected by law, which establish checks and balances not only in the federal workplace but for the American public,” wrote 21 Republican members of the House in a letter to the president. “We believe that the three executive orders undermine existing labor laws and we ask that you rescind them.” The representatives’ open opposition to the executive orders is significant, as House Democrats have already expressed strong opposition to the infringement on the collective bargaining and official time use of federal employees. The new letter marks a solid bipartisan opposition to the new executive orders. Many of the letter’s signers represent federal employee-dense districts and face reelection in November 2018. “As members representing a significant number of hard-working federal employees and retirees, we urge you to uphold the current law and long-standing federal labor statutes that protect America’s civil service from discrimination, unfair treatment and sexual harassment,” the representatives wrote. The legality of the executive orders has already been challenged in court by federal employee unions, and the letter’s assertion that the orders undermine labor laws provides support for that case. J. David Cox Sr., national president of the American Federation of Government Employees, which filed the May 30 suit, applauded the letter, saying: “We are heartened by this showing of support for our members and all federal employees. Everyone benefits when management and bargaining unit employees can work together effectively and efficiently, something President Trump’s executive orders undermine. This administration’s attempt to silence the voice of veterans, law enforcement officers and all hardworking federal employees is not just deplorable, it is illegal. The EOs are a direct rebuke to the checks and balances in our Constitution and comes dangerously close to encroaching on the rights of Congress to legislate.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A Democratic senator introduced a bill last month that would allow students to graduate from college debt-free, provided they enter public service. The Strengthening American Communities Act (S. 2984), introduced in May by Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland but announced last week, would establish a National Public Service Education Grant program, which would pay a significant portion of students’ tuition, provided that they agree to work for at least three years in public service. The program could remove many students’ reliance on student loans to pay for post-secondary education, and allow graduates to enter the workforce debt free. And those already working in positions eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which offers to erase debt after a decade of work in public service, would see relief after only three years.)

— Activists ask board to make Sangamon ‘gun sanctuary’ county – John Reynolds
http://www.sj-r.com/news/20180612/activists-ask-board-to-make-sangamon-gun-sanctuary-county
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Tonight, I ask you to please consider protecting your constituents and the voters and the taxpayers of Sangamon County,” said Springfield resident Rosanna Pulido. “Please pass a resolution to make Sangamon County a sanctuary for gun owners.” Other Illinois counties, including nearby Christian County, have adopted gun sanctuary resolutions. The terminology comes from so-called sanctuary cities, such as Chicago, that don’t cooperate with aspects of federal immigration enforcement. Speaking before the meeting, Sangamon County Administrator Brian McFadden said the county has an informal policy that it does not weigh in on symbolic measures that are outside its regulatory authority. Even if the county were to pass a gun sanctuary resolution, it would not affect the enforcement of federal, state or local gun laws. . .“This is not a symbolic resolution. It is a defense of the Constitutional principle. It is incumbent on our local elected officials to make sure their constituents’ voices are heard by the state in regards to protecting the Constitution. You took an oath of office to that effect,” Pulido said. Pulido, as well as Springfield residents Tom Shafer and Lynn Wilson, spoke at the end of the county board meeting. Board members did not comment or ask them any questions.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Harris said the auditor’s position by statute can be filled by anybody off the street, and the county wants more experience. “I’m not saying we’ve got bad people, but we want more stability in the job,” said Harris. “We want to know that we have an accounting professional in the job. “We know some of our audits haven’t been completed. The main job is compliance, and some audits just haven’t been completed over the years. It’s not against the person that’s on the job, it’s the knowledge to do the audit. We can’t guarantee consistent qualifications in the job through the process that we have. We would like to bring in talent that can do it, can see it. Anybody can come on the job and learn it, but we want our auditor to have a CIA, Certified Internal Auditor.” The county is not seeking professionals in other elected posts. Hranka said under statute, the sheriff, coroner and others are not required to have experience in the field pertaining to the position they are running for. She said the board allows her only $2,000 for continuing education even though she is required to do 20 hours per year.)

http://www.telegraphherald.com/ap/national/article_2a180d26-6abd-5e63-801b-595d374b1ec0.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Lamanta Reese lived much of his gang life in virtual reality, posting videos on YouTube of him and others taunting rivals. He died at age 19 in the real world, bleeding from his head onto a porch on Chicago’s South Side after one of those gang rivals, prosecutors say, shot him 11 times. Another possible factor in his slaying: A smiley-face emoji Reese posted that the suspected gunman may have interpreted as a slight about his mom. Gangs’ embrace of social media to goad foes or conceal drug dealing in emoji-laden text is the biggest change in how gangs operate compared with 10 years ago, according to new law enforcement data provided exclusively to The Associated Press ahead of its release Tuesday by the Chicago Crime Commission. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other sites have radically altered gang culture in Chicago. They are having a similar influence on gangs nationwide. These days, there is nearly always a link between an outbreak of gang violence and something online, said Rodney Phillips, a gang-conflict mediator working in the low-income Englewood neighborhood where Reese lived and died. When he learns simmering tensions have spilled into violence, he no longer goes first to the streets. “I Google it,” Phillips said. “I look on YouTube and Facebook. Today, that’s how you follow the trail of a conflict.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Pritzker campaign wasted no time hanging President Donald Trump around Gov. Bruce Rauner’s neck on Tuesday, just hours after the governor made a rare positive statement about the Trump White House. He did it, of course, without saying the president’s name. “I am very proud of what’s been going on in the federal government, Congress, and the White House,” Rauner said at a Downstate stop. Rauner is well aware that if he hopes to have any chance in November, he needs to reach out to the Republican base in southern Illinois, which is solid Trump country. Look no further than Rep. DAILY SIGNAL
— Trump Executive Orders Are Surprisingly Popular With Federal Employees – John York (DIERSEN: The Democrats who run the federal government use Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion to get rid of their employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. My Democrat superiors in the federal government acted like their employees who were Democrat, minority, female, younger, and/or veteran wanted them to get rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. Assessing job performance is extremely subjective. The Democrats who run the federal government use that subjectivity to get rid of federal employee who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who they did not promote to GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40.)
https://www.dailysignal.com/2018/06/12/trump-executive-orders-are-surprisingly-popular-with-federal-employees/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When President Donald Trump recently issued three executive orders that made it easier to fire poorly performing government employees, the backlash from public-sector unions was fierce. Union leaders did not like it—one called it an “assault on federal employees.” But a recent poll shows a slight majority of government workers—51 percent—supports the administration’s efforts. Moreover, only 24 percent of federal employees oppose the recent executive orders and another quarter are unsure. The level of support among federal workers for executive orders that will make it easier to fire them is surprising, but only at first glance. In fact, Trump’s executive orders represent modest reforms that will not affect the vast majority of employees and, in fact, likely will improve their working conditions. For instance, one of the new executive orders imposes a 30-day limit on the time an agency can give an employee to improve his poor performance before being fired. When a federal manager determines that an employee is not up to the job, he must present that employee with a performance improvement plan as a last-ditch effort to turn his performance around. Prior to the president’s executive order, agencies set the length of this grace period, which stretched to 120 days in some cases. The new executive order also gives managers more freedom to decide how to punish misconduct. Prior to Trump’s executive orders, managers were ordinarily bound to progress through lesser disciplinary steps from verbal warning and written notices to suspensions, demotions, and removal from the civil service. Now, managers are free to choose a punishment that fits the crime. Some federal employees no doubt take advantage of their insulation from accountability, but most civil servants are hard-working and dedicated—a fact attested to by the 70 percent customer satisfaction rate among those who receive some federal service. These diligent workers must pick up the slack for those who do not do their share, then are sometimes denied opportunities for advancement by the dead weight above them. And, as anyone who has worked in an office environment knows, unmotivated and unruly co-workers can take a heavy toll on morale. So, although a few bad apples may prefer to keep the status quo, it is not surprising most federal employees welcome these provisions of the president’s executive orders.)

USA TODAY
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: In a front page top of fold editorial with a big color picture unethically made to look like a news article, anti-Trumps encourage citizens of foreign countries to bring their children to America illegally.

— Retirement cut proposals threaten millions of federal workers – Dan Caplinger (DIERSEN: Virtually all of my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes who state that they are religious, conservative, and/or Republican paint themselves as being a) pro-employer and b) anti-employee. They side with GAO in Diersen v. GAO.)
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/retirement/2018/06/12/these-retirement-cuts-threaten-millions-of-workers/35914843/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: There’s a lot of debate about the differences in working conditions that public-sector and private-sector workers face. Some private-sector workers who have seen many of their employee benefits deteriorate or disappear entirely over the years believe their public-sector counterparts get benefit packages that are too expensive for taxpayers to maintain. Public-sector employees can point to base salaries that have historically often been lower than what they could make in the private sector as a justification for additional benefits to make up the difference.)

MILWAUKEE COMMUNITY JOURNAL
— 3 Surprises To Watch Out For When Paying For Long-Term Care – Chris Orestis (DIERSEN: Will you, or someone who you are responsible for, be one more than 70 percent of Americans over the age of 65 who will need long-term health care services? My father’s sister, my mother’s sister, and my wife’s sister are all paying more than $200/day out of their life’s savings for long-term health care.)
https://communityjournal.net/3-surprises-to-watch-out-for-when-paying-for-long-term-care/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: More than 70 percent of Americans over the age of 65 will need long-term health care services, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Yet, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute, only 13 percent of those who received professional home health care had long-term insurance policies, which can protect seniors from high out-of-pocket costs. “There is a wide gap of people without long-term care insurance (LTCI), and some of the alternatives carry little-known laws and legal liabilities that can pose a problem to the care recipient and their family, says CHRIS ORESTIS, Executive Vice President of GWG Life (www.gwglife.com ) and author of the books Help on the Way and A Survival Guide to Aging. “The growing long-term care funding crisis has brought lawsuits and mandated claw-back actions against families in attempts to recover monies spent on long-term care,” Orestis says. “There is a growing need for consumers to consider all their available financial options to fund long-term care, and that can include selling a life insurance policy.” “Often the weight for long-term care falls on the family, and they need to avoid a financial surprise that can come late in life for their loved ones.”)

FED WEEK
— Disciplinary Actions Accelerate at VA Since Change in Law (DIERSEN: Constructively, my Democrat superiors took the following disciplinary actions against me. Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes side with my Democrat superiors in the federal government against me: My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
