(FROM THE ARTICLE: A video of an Islamic march featuring thousands of black and hijab-clad Muslims chanting “Allah” and a bunch of gibberish through the streets of Dearborn, Michigan that looks like it could have been filmed in any random Middle Eastern Muslim country went viral and drew outrage on X last week. The account that posted it included a call for Tom Homan’s ICE to deal with the problem by going in and deporting illegals. It’s a justifiable sentiment, but good luck with that. Shockingly, almost 60,000 of the approximately 105,000 residents of Dearborn are of Middle Eastern or North African ancestry. Almost all of those are Arab American Muslims. The problem for the poster, and for anyone else who thinks deporting illegals is the solution to what ails us, is that almost all of them are lawful citizens of the United States, a product of Arab immigration that began almost 100 ago and intensified by waves of refugee resettlements from decades of Middle Eastern conflicts caused in no small part, ironically, by American intervention overseas. Given the numbers, it should be no surprise to find the city run by Muslims. As conservative commentator Matt Walsh pointed out in another viral post: “The mayor of Dearborn, Michigan is Abdullah Hammoud. The guy running against him in the mayoral race is Nagi Almudhegi. The mayor’s chief of staff is Zaineb A. Hussein. The police chief is Issa Shahin. He oversees the commander of the patrol division, Madou Bazzi. The public health director is Ali Abazeed. Don’t forget city council members Kamal Alsawafy and Mustapha Hammoud.” If you are one of the tens of thousands of non-Muslim residents left in the city, you will still be greeted at 6 am in the morning and four other times throughout the day by the Muslim call to prayer broadcast on loudspeaker. For now at least you can complain, like this lady did, but the Muslim-run city council will tell you to pound sand. If you don’t like that a street was renamed after a Hezbollah terrorist, you will not only be told to pound sand, you will be called an Islamaphobe and told you aren’t welcome in the city you grew up in. Yes, technically the rulers of Dearborn are ‘American.’ They and most of their co-religionist voters have the citizenship and naturalization papers saying so, and thus are just as much a citizen of this country as you or me. But is this what the founders envisioned for the country they birthed through blood almost 250 years ago? If Thomas Jefferson could have looked into the future and seen Arabic flags and Islamic chants and hijab-clad women marching through an American street, would he have set things up differently? Trying to normalize a situation ordinary people rightly are disgusted by, ‘Republican’ pollster Frank Luntz embarrassingly quoted part of a letter penned by George Washington as proof that the founders wanted Muslims to, according to Luntz, “find welcome in America.” “If they are good workmen, they may be of Asia, Africa, or Europe,” Washington wrote. “They may be Mohammedans, Jews, or Christians of any sect, or they may be Atheists.” Luntz’s contention was easily ripped to shreds by anyone who bothered to post the entire letter, which was simply correspondence from Washington to a friend in Baltimore asking him to facilitate the purchase of some skilled labor that was purportedly on a ship headed there. Indeed, the idea that our founders – the ones who in 1790 when immigration policy was first discussed limited naturalization to only “free white persons” of “good moral character” who had lived in America for at least two years – would applaud the streets of Dearborn being overrun with chanting Muslims carrying Arabic flags is laughable on its face. On the contrary, if the dead could move they would be turning over in their graves. Still, the founders did recognize the need for immigration, and since 1790 there has been plenty of it. Interestingly, the massive waves from Europe that happened in the 1840s and the 1880s-1920s were opposed by nativists who argued that the Irish, the Germans, the Poles, and the Italians were going to ruin the country. In hindsight, it wasn’t really much of a concern though, because those people had enough in common with the original Anglo-Saxon stock to completely assimilate in a generation or two at most, which is exactly what happened. (We fought against Germany in two world wars, but have you heard anyone complain about ‘those damned Germans’ lately?) Leftists like to cite opposition to these European waves as evidence that conservatives are stupid to oppose the current non-white immigration from Third World hellholes we’re experiencing today, but, as Dearborn has proven, it’s apples and oranges. Extrapolate that over the next few decades at the immigration rate Democrats would have us endure and you’ll get hundreds if not thousands of places just like Dearborn, Michigan or Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Somalis have their own country within a country. The Great Replacement Theory isn’t just a theory, it’s a fact. Leftists hate white people and want them to become a minority in every place they are currently a majority. You may think race doesn’t or shouldn’t matter at all, but they certainly think it does. Now, I’m not in any way arguing for a white nationalist state or the removal or persecution of legal minorities. America should always include minority populations who assimilate, love this country, and want to contribute to its success. However, there is something to be said for an immigration policy, one similar to the one that helped America prosper right up to 1965, that keeps whites from becoming a minority in the country their ancestors founded. (FROM THE ARTICLE: More than three dozen lawmakers are already planning to leave Congress next year. But there’s another impending legislative branch retirement that could have major implications in Washington. Comptroller General Gene Dodaro, who heads the Government Accountability Office, hits the end of his 15-year term in late December and will be forced to vacate the post that occupies an increasingly crucial — and politically charged — oversight role. The comptroller general is uniquely empowered to call out the president for breaking the law by withholding federal cash, and Dodaro has done so repeatedly over the past eight months — putting himself at the center of a largely partisan fight over President Donald Trump’s funding moves that has exacerbated tensions between the White House and Capitol Hill. Now Trump gets to nominate Dodaro’s replacement, and key lawmakers are only just starting to take stock of a paradox: A president who continually tests the bounds of Congress’ spending powers gets to pick the legislative branch’s chief watchdog. “It sets up a very bad situation,” Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii, the next Senate Democratic whip and a senior appropriator, said in an interview. “Among the things to be alarmed about, this is a new one.” The stakes are high: Whoever ends up running GAO once Dodaro’s term ends will be able to bolster, or undermine, Congress’ defenses against Trump in the separation-of-powers battle the president is stoking by terminating, freezing and reallocating hundreds of billions of dollars Congress previously approved. “When one party controls the Senate, the House and the White House, there’s a tendency to rally around the president and to do what the president wants,” said David Walker, Dodaro’s predecessor and the only living former GAO director. “But somebody’s got to be able to be the independent referee, and to try to do what they think is in the interest of the institution, the Congress and the country. And that’s what the comptroller general is.” All of this is taking place as Trump administration officials and some congressional Republicans have been trying to downsize and discredit the watchdog. That has included publicly questioning the GAO’s authority and accusing the agency of siding with Democrats in its multiple determinations that the White House unlawfully flouted Congress’ “power of the purse.” White House budget director Russ Vought said this month that GAO is “a quasi-legislative independent entity … something that shouldn’t exist. There have been other slights, too. In the Senate, the GAO told Republicans they could not skirt the filibuster in voting to override California’s pollution standards; Republicans did so anyway. In the House, GOP lawmakers endorsed cutting the agency’s roughly $800 million budget in half for the upcoming fiscal year. And Elon Musk, prior to leaving the Trump administration, attempted to send in a Department of Government Efficiency team to assess the GAO for mass staff reductions. Meanwhile, the legislative branch writ large has become more broadly vulnerable to the White House’s whims, seen most starkly in Trump’s abrupt firing of the librarian of Congress and the registrar of copyrights. It’s not yet clear what the Dodaro succession plan will look like; a White House spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment. A 10-member panel of lawmakers is supposed to recommend at least three replacement candidates for Trump to consider. By law, that group is composed of the top leaders in each chamber, the chairs and ranking members of the key House and Senate oversight committees and the Senate president pro tempore. However, most congressional leaders have yet to start hunting for qualified contenders, and furthermore seem largely unaware they have any role to play in filling the slot. “I don’t even know the process,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune said in a brief interview. “It’s been a while. This hasn’t happened on my watch.” Two of the would-be commission members had kind words for Dodaro, including Sen. Rand Paul, chair of the Senate Homeland and Governmental Affairs Committee. “I’ve always appreciated him, and I think he’s a straight shooter,” the Kentucky Republican said in an interview. Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), the panel’s ranking member, said he “would want somebody like Gene, who has been a really solid member.” On the House side, Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said in an interview he’s looking for the next GAO director to be “an aggressive person that looks for waste, fraud and abuse.” Comer added, “We want someone that communicates regularly with Congress, so we can kind of have an idea of what they’re doing.” But Trump could instead ask Republican senators to confirm a new watchdog of his own choosing — or forgo making a nomination altogether. It would leave a leadership vacuum at the top of the agency that not only monitors whether Congress’ spending directives are followed but is also empowered to examine the effectiveness of federal agencies on behalf of lawmakers. Further raising the stakes in confirming a new director, lawsuits are pending around the country challenging Trump’s withholding of congressionally approved funding, and a federal appeals court ruled this summer that only the GAO director can sue the administration for violating the decades-old impoundment law — not the groups that were set to receive the funding. Dodaro has so far chosen not to sue the Trump administration for withholding funding. But when he steps down, he’ll be able to pick an acting GAO director who also would have the power to file a lawsuit if they so choose. Still, said Molly Reynolds, head of governance studies at the Brookings Institution, “if you get a comptroller general in place who is Trump-friendly, that is going to foreclose that option” of GAO suing the administration. An acting director also wouldn’t be “in a position to make major transformational changes,” warned Walker, the former GAO director. When Walker resigned in 2008, he appointed Dodaro acting director, a title that stuck for more than two years because Congress and the president weren’t quick to work through the nomination process. Before that, it also took two years to formally install Walker in the post in 1998. Walker is now urging congressional leaders to recommend candidates who are willing to challenge executive branch officials regardless of who is president, as he did during his own tenure. A political independent who “leans Republican” and was confirmed by a GOP-led Senate, Walker sued the Republican vice president, Dick Cheney, for failure to provide GAO access to records. He is also agitating for lawmakers to quickly start the search for potential replacements: “There’s no reason that they shouldn’t be planning now so that they can end up trying to make a timely decision.”)

A decade later, that group—Turning Point USA—has grown into a political juggernaut, generating nearly a half-billion in total revenue in the 13 years since its inception, creating a sprawling network of campus chapters, and building a media machine that rivals legacy establishments. On Sept, 10, Kirk, a husband and father of two, was shot and killed at a Turning Point event at Utah Valley University. He was 31 years old. His death has ignited conspiracy theories, calls for gun control, and a nationwide political debate over his legacy. But it has also left the future of his formidable conservative business and non-profit enterprises hanging in the balance.  By channeling polarization and student engagement, Kirk not only built an empire that sits at the center of the American right’s culture wars, but also made himself a multi-millionaire, according to the Associated Press—and one of the nation’s youngest political power brokers, with a seat at President Donald Trump’s table. A review of Kirk’s and Turning Point’s finances shows just how much Kirk benefited from and capitalized on two key trends of the last decade-plus: an energized web of right-wing donors from the business community, and the meteoric rise of the conservative media ecosystem. Turning Point USA netted $85 million in revenue in 2024 alone, up more than 142% over the last five years. The vast majority, 99.2%, of that revenue comes from charitable contributions, including at least $350,000 from Kirk himself in 2024. According to Kolvet, the organization brought in approximately 350,000 grassroots, “small dollar” donors. “The goal was to get over 500,000 this year. And, given all that’s happened, we’ve eclipsed that goal, and that’s exciting,” he added. Large and hard to trace  How exactly Turning Point spends its money, and who benefits from the organization’s hefty annual revenue, is unclear. Like many political advocacy groups, it’s organized as a 501(c)3 non-profit; the IRS does not require such groups to publicly disclose detailed expenditure accounts. The lack of clarity is compounded by the fact that many of Turning Point’s largest vendors are limited liability companies registered in states that do not mandate public ownership disclosure.  Within Turning Point’s organizational structure, there are also several interconnected nonprofit groups, political action committees, and a for-profit merchandise company, none of which are required to publicly report their finances. One branch, the Turning Point Endowment, held $64.3 million in 2024, having grown from $7.2 million in 2020.
