— Don’t Make Risky Assumptions – Ken O’Quinn (DIERSEN: What assumptions do you make about those who read what you write? The only legitimate reason to read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails is to get information to help defend and advance conservative Republican principles. Nevertheless, I have always been fully aware that some read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails to get information to help them dismiss, discredit, belittle, badmouth, intimidate, insult, demonize, denigrate, and/or condemn me. I should write a book those who read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails to get information to help them dismiss, discredit, belittle, badmouth, intimidate, insult, demonize, denigrate, and/or condemn me.)

STANDARD MEDIA
— Do you need a higher degree or is work experience sufficient? – Nancy Nzalambi (DIERSEN: According to this article, “A degree earned 20 years ago may be useless now.” Of course, my critics/opponents stress that all my education, paid work experience, professional certifications, and professional license are at least 21 years old.)
https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/lifestyle/article/2001334657/do-you-need-a-higher-degree-or-is-work-experience-sufficient
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Employers are lured by your work experience, but you must have the relevant experience to appeal to them more. Work experience should highly relate with the job that you are looking for. Your experience has to show some aspect of growth. You are more marketable when there are quantifiable results from the time and effort you put into work.)

BROOKLYN PAPER
— There is a biblical saying. “Do unto others as you would have done unto you.” – STEPHANIE THOMPSON (DIERSEN: How do people treat you? One can assume that people treat you like they want you to treat them. I should write a book about how people in my neighborhood, in my precinct, in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois have treated me since I moved to Wheaton in 1978. I would focus on those who read my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails, but who a) fail/refuse to share relevant information with me and/or b) fail/refuse to return my phone calls. I would focus on those who dismiss me, discredit me, belittle me, badmouth me, intimidate me, insult me, demonize me, denigrate me, and/or condemn me. I would focus on those who ascribe evil motive and/or bad judgment to everything that I do or that I do not do. I would focus on those who blame me for their problems, for your problems, for my problems, and for everyone’s problems. I would focus on those who blame me for all the losses that Republicans have suffered in Illinois since 2000. I would focus on those who forced me to sue them. I would focus on those who focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate. I would focus on those who claim to be religious, conservative, and/or Republican, but who do not talk and/or act like they are religious, conservative, and/or Republican. I would focus on those who have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Milton Township, DuPage County, and/or Illinois, their operatives, and their dupes.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Nearly all college experiences begin with a series of orientation sessions. Most start with the assumption that you are the cursed offspring of a flawed society. You come to college not to be educated but to be reeducated. You have imbibed of racism, sexism, and homophobia. And for some outrageous amount of tuition that will send many of you into perpetual debt, the modern-day Gletkins of academia will purge you of these impure thoughts. The brainwashing will begin in orientation but will not end there. If you live in a dormitory, there will be required sensitivity sessions run by minions from the office of residence life. These generally are graduate students who are shouldering the intellectual rigors of a degree in education administration. The aim of these sessions, which are reminiscent of those imposed on Soviet factory workers to remove their “mechanistic thinking,” is to reeducate you to rid yourself of the values your parents taught you. Many of you, irrespective of discipline, will be compelled to complete a multicultural requirement. These courses are compulsory because otherwise no rational person would sit through them. Your multicultural requirement might be taken in African-American studies where, being a white person, you will learn that only whites, by definition, can be racists and all whites are racists. The evils of slavery will be pounded into you, even though your ancestors probably not only didn’t own slaves, but they also came to these shores long after slavery was abolished. Nonetheless, your skin color makes you guilty. But invoke a stereotype about black people based on their high crime and recidivism rate, and you will be admonished that to brush all black people with a single brush — especially without context — is racist. To characterize all white people as racists, however, is not a stereotype but an intellectual incision. You will learn that there is such a thing as “true truth.” This is the shared reality of an “oppressed” group whose common belief makes something true. Or in the profound words of Alexandria Octavio-Cortez, you can have moral truth without factual truth — whatever that means. In these classes, you will never say that the trans-Atlantic slave trade was the product of Africans who shifted the trans-Saharan slave trade westward. You will never point out that two African potentates, King Tegesibu of Dahomey and King Alvare of the Congo, were among the wealthiest men in the known world, having gotten rich by selling slaves. It is not that the administration doesn’t know what goes on in these classes, but to intercede would result in charges of racism and violation of so-called academic freedom. If you complain, your grade will crash to the floor. In gender studies, remember there are more than two genders. Never, ever say you can’t change your DNA. Women are equal to men in every way, and biology is not destiny. All apparent biological differences are really a function of culture. After all, we live in a world where trans-women should be able to get abortions. All genders and races should be in all the professions in proportion to their distribution in the population is the current dogma. Any departure from that is a function of cultural oppression. The fact that Asians disproportionately dominate math and science classes is a function of some cultural flaw. Only on the athletic field does pure competition exist. If you regurgitate this view of the world, apologize for being white, and check your white male privilege, you will do fine. Do these classes change attitudes? Yes, but not as the intellectual Gletkins think.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The crisis in local journalism is catastrophic — and it will get worse. More than 1,300 communities across the United States are without local news coverage, and thousands more have inadequate journalism. At the next recession, the collapse will accelerate. Studies have now validated what we all know intuitively: The disintegration of community journalism leads to greater polarization, lower voter turnout, more pollution, less government accountability and less trust. This problem is not going to be solved by a new phone app or an increase of a few pennies in digital ad rates. It’s time to try something dramatically different. The local media ecosystem of the future must have a much bigger role for nonprofit media and philanthropy. We accept this reality in the worlds of education and health care. It’s time to embrace it for local journalism. We believe people have an obligation to support libraries and symphonies. Now they have to support good accountability reporting.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Have you ever lied on your resume, in an application, or during an interview to get a job? Some of the common resume lies are about academic degrees, age, technical abilities and criminal records. In interviews, people tend to tell lies related to salaries, references, and complete work history. Getting caught lying can be grounds for firing and yet many people take these risks. . .A report from 2017 stated that 85% of job applicants were caught by employers using some form of dishonesty. https://legallysociable.com/2019/08/02/preserve-neighborhoods-save-main-responses-share-similar-concerns-part-two/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In both cases, the concerns residents voiced are consistent across hundreds of development and redevelopment projects in suburbs across the United States. Having studied this in multiple ways (several of my projects address similar issues including “Not All Suburbs are the Same” and “‘Would Prefer a Trailer Park to a Large [Religious] Structure’“, residents generally bring up the same concerns: increased traffic, lights, and noise; a change in scale (particularly when it comes to height); and threats to residences (usually single-family homes) and the character of a suburb. In Wheaton, the character issue is not stated as clearly but it is present. This major road is one of the primary ways people see the suburb. How should it look compared to the stretch of Roosevelt on Glen Ellyn which is more like the strip mall approach and Winfield to the west which is more green and residential (and not coincidentally they are fought their own battles over taking advantage of possible business opportunities on such a busy road)? This is not just about a busy roadway or the homes that back up to this stretch; this is about signaling what kind of place Wheaton is. One that values businesses or homeowners, one that prioritizes vehicles or pedestrians, one that celebrates its history or is looking to simply make money?)

https://legallysociable.com/2019/08/01/preserve-neighborhoods-save-main-responses-cut-from-the-same-anti-development-cloth-part-one/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The suburb in which I live and the neighboring suburb both have proposed redevelopment ideas and each has attracted opposition from residents. Both sets of opposition have yard signs to voice their displeasure and residents have spoken at public meetings. Part One of this analysis involves the basics of the proposed projects and how this fits into what suburbs generally try to do. The Rethink Rezoning group is responding to a study commissioned by the city of Wheaton to improve development along the busy Roosevelt Road corridor that runs east-west through the center of the suburb. . .Neither of these projects are unusual for suburban communities. Indeed, they both attempt to take advantage of unique traits already in the suburb. In Wheaton, the Roosevelt Road corridor has been an area of interest for the city for decades. With tens of thousands of cars passing through each day, it presents an opportunity, particularly since it is just south of the downtown (and traffic does not necessarily turn off Roosevelt to go downtown) and north of the other major shopping area at Danada (along the busy Butterfield Road corridor). But, Wheaton has generally been conservative about what development they allow along this stretch. Compared to Glen Ellyn to the east or the Ogden Avenue corridor in northwest Naperville, the Roosevelt Road stretch in Wheaton is relatively void of strip malls, fast food restaurants, car repair places, and rundown facilities. Again: this has been an intentional effort to maintain a certain level of quality. The proposed changes would build on this by updating some uses (most suburbs utilize single-use zoning but this can be restrictive in certain areas) and try to encourage some cohesiveness across stretches. What is now a hodgepodge of offices, some older houses, some more recent office buildings, could have a more uniform character and present a more pleasing aesthetic. I don’t know how many people will walk along such a busy road but it certainly does not lend itself to that now. All of this could help improve aesthetics and bring in more revenue from taxes in a revitalized district. Having a more uniform plan could help bring in more money for the city which then helps relieve local tax burdens. . .If these projects are in line with suburban plans – let alone the long-term plans for each community – what are the residents objecting to? More on that in Part Two tomorrow.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— AS THE DEMOCRAT PARTY’S STRANGLEHOLD ON ILLINOIS, ON COOK COUNTY, AND ON CHICAGO TIGHTENS: Meet the people working to kick Chicago out of Illinois – Cindy Dampier (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, the Democrats who run Illinois, Cook County, and Chicago make it clear that they want each and every individual, organization, and company that is a Trump supporter, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owner, German American, draft avoider, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time TO LEAVE ILLINOIS.)
https://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/ct-life-illinois-state-secession-movement-0801-20190801-iesnu74ogvfjxfk35sn72lq7ya-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Over the past two years, the movement to divide the state of Illinois into two states — Cook County in one, the other 101 counties in the other — has been gaining support. In February, as Gov. J.B. Pritzker was pursuing an agenda for Illinois that included new tax and abortion policies, Halbrook refiled a resolution in the state legislature, HR 101, in which he and six co-sponsors asked the U.S. Congress to recognize Chicago as the 51st state. “I hear it a lot from my constituents, that we need to be separate from Chicago,” Halbrook says. “I thought yep, this is what we need to do.” The resolution, which could be dismissed as simple political maneuvering — plays big at home, but has scant chance of seeing daylight in the legislature — is also backed by several grassroots groups agitating for separation. One of them, Illinois Separation, founded by Collin Cliburn, of Athens, has 24,000 followers on Facebook, and growing. Cliburn is also holding events at venues from wineries and gun shops to community centers around the state through August and September to capitalize on the cause’s momentum.)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Pritzker vows to ‘root’ out parents scamming system for college financial aid for their kids: ‘Shame on you’ “If people are defrauding the system, these wealthy parents are literally committing fraud here,” the governor said. “We need to go find them, root it out and make sure that those dollars go to the right people.” – Tina Sfondeles (DIERSEN: How much debt did/could your parents take on to pay for your college expenses? I never expected my outstanding parents to take on any debt to pay for my college expenses. My father fought type 1 diabetes from age 14, he was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma, he never attended college, he worked in the office of a nasty chemical plant, he almost always worked second jobs to pay the family’s bills, and he did not buy a new car until he was 45 and it was a bottom of the line Chevy. My mother never attended high school.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The college consultant who developed a strategy to help wealthy clients access scholarships designed for the poor said she came up with the idea after seeing how much debt parents were taking on to send their children to college. Lora Georgieva, owner of a consulting company called Destination College, said she has been explaining to families for the past two years that if they legally transferred the guardianship of their college-bound children to a friend or family member, the teens would be considered independent for the purposes of financial aid. That means they wouldn’t have to declare their parents’ income or assets, making it possible for them to collect state, federal and college scholarships reserved for students from poor families. The strategy was the topic of a Page One article Tuesday in The Wall Street Journal. Ms. Georgieva hadn’t responded to requests for comment for that article, but subsequently spoke Tuesday night with a Journal reporter about her operation. The U.S. Education Department condemned Ms. Georgieva’s actions and said it was moving to stop them.)

https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20190729/party-chairman-dupage-republicans-facing-unity-challenges
(FROM THE ARTICLE: His rise within the ranks of the DuPage Republican Party came one small step at a time, and now Marty Keller is chairman of the political organization that traditionally has found voter favor in the state’s second-largest county. Keller, of Wheaton, got involved in his party first as a precinct committeeman in Milton Township. From that start in 2004, he has stepped into roles as an elected Milton Township trustee and then as the employed executive director of the township’s Community Emergency Response Team; as chairman of the Milton Township Republicans; and then as vice chairman and now chairman of the countywide organization. Keller recently sat down with the Daily Herald to share the party’s outlook after a 2018 election that found Democrats winning an unprecedented number of county, state and national seats. Here is an edited version of the conversation.)

https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20190729/casten-seeking-second-term-after-awesome-humbling-first-months-in-congress
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Casten’s opponent from the Republican Party could be former Wheaton City Council member and Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti, who held the statewide position during former Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration. Or it could be former Wheaton City Council member, state representative and gubernatorial candidate Jeanne Ives, who ran against Rauner in the 2018 primary. Casten campaign spokeswoman Chloe Hunt said in a news release that both potential Republican challengers would take opposite stands from Casten on issues such as abortion and taxes. “Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti both embrace an extreme partisan ideology that would deny a woman’s right to choose and raise our health care costs,” Hunt said. “They both strongly support President Trump and they both are wildly out of touch with the concerns of the 6th Congressional District.” Ives launched her campaign by filing a statement of candidacy July 18 with the Federal Election Commission. Sanguinetti has been campaigning since April. Sanguinetti’s campaign has criticized Casten for being “out of touch” with his constituents, for rubber-stamping priorities of House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi instead of being “a centrist,” and for saying he wants to open an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. . .The National Republican Congressional Committee, for example, is calling out Casten and fellow freshman U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood of the 14th District for votes related to military spending, saying they both are playing to a “socialist base” and putting “partisan extremism ahead of the safety of our brave troops.”)

AMERICAN THINKER
— It’s No Longer about Equality – Jeffrey Folks
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/07/its_no_longer_about_equality.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Minorities achieved legal equality in the 1960s, and they proceeded to claim the equivalent of reparations in the form of affirmative action, minority set-asides, preferential admissions based on race, and thousands of informal arrangements in the workplace granting preference in terms of evaluations and workload. As minorities gained these preferences, some became more aggressive. Some version of the Squad’s tactic of calling out whites and daring them to talk back became commonplace across society. Many Americans have witnessed blacks stepping to the front of the line and expecting to be served first. Many have seen minorities promoted ahead of more experienced whites with the idea that minorities need to be “represented.” But what we see now is different. It is not just society helping out those who have been disadvantaged in the past. It is a form of aggressive prejudice against, disdain for, and potential violence against whites. As I see it, the Squad epitomizes this new stage in race relations. It’s fortunate we have a president who recognizes what these women are about and is willing to stand up to them.)
— Reparations: A flawed stratagem – Sam Younnokis (DIERSEN: From what I see, if the Democrats defeat Trump in 2020, they will appoint “Reparations Czars” in each precinct in America who will determine how much reparations each resident of the precinct must pay. The more of the following that you are, the more reparations that you would have to pay: Trump supporter, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owner, German American, draft avoider, and if your ancestors have been in America for a long time.)

— Trump Should Never Release His Tax Returns – David Thomas Roberts (DIERSEN: Democrats use tax return information to destroy Republicans. In 1978, the Democrats at Money Magazine and the Democrats at IRS used my tax returns to hint/imply/argue/shout that my education deductions were improper and should be disallowed. They hinted/implied/argued/shouted that the graduate business courses that I took at Loyola 1972-1976 and the graduate accounting courses that I had taken at DePaul since 1976 a) were not job-related, b) did not help me carry out my job duties, c) were taken by me to qualify me for a “new trade or business,” d) were taken by me to get a job in the private sector, and e) were a distraction.)
https://townhall.com/columnists/davidthomasroberts/2019/07/29/trump-should-never-release-his-tax-returns-n2550685
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The latest data available from the IRS showed 2.2 million tax return errors in 2015 without an audit involved. Several years ago, Money Magazine gave a rather mundane sample family tax return to complete to 45 tax professionals and received 45 different tax outcomes, some as much as 160 percent different in the amount of taxes due or refunds to be received. It is literally impossible for anyone with complex tax returns to absolutely know beyond a shadow of a doubt if our tax professional did it right.)

To paint my wife and I as being undeservedly filthy rich DINKs, they asked me questions to confirm my wife’s employment and job perks, that we owned a home in Wheaton, that we owned three cars – a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale, 1978 Chevy Chevette, and a 1972 Corvette, and that we owned a town home in University Park and had rental income from it.)
