DAILY HERALD
— Facebook is rating the trustworthiness of its users – Elizabeth Dwoskin (DIERSEN: Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes identify as being false a) articles that they disagree with and b) articles written by people who they cannot manipulate/dominate.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/business/20180821/facebook-is-rating-the-trustworthiness-of-its-users
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Facebook developed its reputation assessments as part of its effort against fake news, Tessa Lyons, the product manager who is in charge of fighting misinformation, said in an interview. The company, like others in tech, has long relied on its users to report problematic content — but as Facebook has given people more options, some users began falsely reporting items as untrue, a new twist on information warfare that it had to account for. It’s “not uncommon for people to tell us something is false simply because they disagree with the premise of a story or they’re intentionally trying to target a particular publisher,” said Lyons. Users’ trustworthiness score between zero and one isn’t meant to be an absolute indicator of a person’s credibility, Lyons said, nor is there is a single unified reputation score that users are assigned. Rather, the score is one measurement among thousands of new behavioral clues that Facebook now takes into account as it seeks to understand risk. Facebook is also monitoring which users have a propensity to flag content published by others as problematic, and which publishers are considered trustworthy by users. It is unclear what other criteria Facebook measures to determine a user’s score, whether all users have a score, and in what ways they’re used.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Helene Miller Walsh is just a few days into her new job as a state lawmaker and she’s already being hammered by Democrats for her political leanings. They say Walsh, the wife of tea partier and talk-show host Joe Walsh, has “scrubbed her Facebook page of all radical views and photos.” Nancy Shepherdson, the Sixth District Democratic State Central Comitteewoman and co-chair of the Illinois Sixth District Democrats, said in a statement: “Helene Walsh should be straight with the voters of the 51st District. If, for instance, she believes that children should be separated from parents who are applying for legal asylum, she shouldn’t be afraid to say so.” Shepherdson said Walsh deleted a July 3 Facebook post that stated: “Don’t want to be separated from your kids…don’t break our laws.” Democrats from the 10th Congressional District, which also includes Lake County, are using a picture of Walsh smiling at a gun show to help fundraise for Walsh’s Democrat opponent, Mary Edly-Allen. Walsh didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. She told the Daily Herald the other day that she’s an independent conservative who wants to fix the state’s pension crisis and reduce property taxes. She was appointed over the weekend to fill the seat vacated by Nick Sauer, who stepped down after a former girlfriend accused him of posting her private, naked photos on Instagram. Law enforcement is investigating.)

WHEATON-WARRENVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT 200
— Board of Education authorizes November ballot question – Erica Loiacono
https://medium.com/district-200-newsroom/board-of-education-authorizes-november-ballot-question-93438395fe81
(FROM THE PRESS RELEASE: District 200 is seeking voter approval to construct a new Jefferson Early Childhood Center without levying a separate, special property tax to finance the costs. Approval of the ballot question on November 6 would authorize the District to construct the new building, but does not provide authorization for the school district to sell bonds to pay for construction costs. The project would be completed through a lease agreement, payable from operating funds, not through an increase to the bond and interest levy. The Board of Education has developed a plan for construction of a new early learning center on the existing site. Jefferson was built in 1958 as an elementary school and was not originally designed to house a program that serves 3-5 year olds, ⅔ of whom have disabilities or special needs.)

LIFE SITE NEWS
— Trump condemns social media censorship: ‘too many voices are being destroyed’ – Calvin Freiburger (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those who have worked the hardest since 2000 to destroy me and my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. Overwhelmingly, they want to stop my promotion of a) the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and/or Second Amendment planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform, b) the illegal drugs and/or equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) planks in the Republican Party platform, and/or c) the Milton Township resolution against video gambling.)
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trump-condemns-social-media-censorship-too-many-voices-are-being-destroyed
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Donald Trump joined the discussion about political censorship by social media giants such as Facebook and Google over the weekend, calling for unfettered debate and hinting at some sort of government action on the issue. “Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices,” Trump tweeted Saturday. “Speaking loudly and clearly for the Trump Administration, we won’t let that happen. They are closing down the opinions of many people on the RIGHT, while at the same time doing nothing to others.” Calling censorship “very dangerous” and “absolutely impossible to police,” the president used his own high-profile battles with the mainstream media as an example. “There is nothing so Fake as CNN & MSNBC, & yet I do not ask that their sick behavior be removed,” he said. “Too many voices are being destroyed, some good & some bad, and that cannot be allowed to happen,” Trump declared. “Who is making the choices, because I can already tell you that too many mistakes are being made. Let everybody participate, good & bad, and we will all just have to figure it out!”)

WEEKLY STANDARD
— How to Throw a Winnable Election – DAVID BYLER (DIERSEN: Whose advice is Rauner taking? It certainly seems like he is taking advice from those a) who want him to lose and b) who want all Republican candidates in Illinois to lose.)
https://www.weeklystandard.com/david-byler/how-to-throw-a-winnable-election
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois: Alienate the Base and Swing Voters Bruce Rauner might seem like an odd fit in this list. He’s the governor of Illinois, one of the most reliably blue states, so it might not be clear that this race was “winnable” in the first place. But other incumbent Republicans in bluer states—like Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan and Vermont Gov. Phil Scott—seem to be in good shape despite governing states that are arguably bluer than Illinois. So why not Rauner? The answer is pretty simple—Rauner has managed to alienate his base without winning over skeptical voters from the other side. Rauner, like other blue state Republicans, originally promised not to do much on social issues. But he went back on that promise and expanded taxpayer subsidized abortions. That led to an almost-successful primary challenge—state legislator Jeanne Ives finished just three percentage points behind Rauner in the state’s Republican primary. Other blue state Republicans make up for these transgressions by governing competently. That’s arguably what happened to Phil Scott, who managed to win renomination in Vermont by a solid margin despite losing some support over his a gun control bill. But Rauner had serious issues with the state budget. As a result, his overall approval rating in the most recent Morning Consult poll was only 27 percent—making him the least popular incumbent governor running for re-election.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Trump has said many times that he never uses email, but he’s far from alone: Lots of lawmakers – including Sens. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah), Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) and even Senate Democratic leader Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) – have more or less proclaimed the same, with pride. With digital dinosaurdom seen as a badge of honor, it’s no wonder that congressional hearings ostensibly about Facebook’s dodgy data practices devolved into clumsy, confused – and bipartisan – queries about: video bloggers Diamond and Silk; the difference between a social media platform and an Internet service provider; how Facebook can possibly make money if it’s free to users; and how to get rid of ads for chocolate.)

I should write a book about those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who paint themselves as being anti-Missouri Synod Lutherans. They promote dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, retaliation, and even worse things. They paint themselves as being anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
https://www.wsj.com/articles/two-new-lawsuits-seek-to-stop-discrimination-against-religion-1534803774
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Dave and Amy Carson live with their 15-year-old daughter, Olivia, in Glenburn, Maine. Like many small towns across the state, Glenburn, population 4,543, is too small to maintain its own public high school. Instead, the local government gives families the money it would otherwise spend on education and lets them choose a public or private school for their children. There’s a catch: Maine won’t allow parents to spend taxpayer money on a religious school. Families like the Carsons, who believe a religious school is the best choice for Olivia, get nothing. In Trinity Lutheran Church v. Comer (2017), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the First Amendment prohibits states from discriminating against religion in the operation of government programs. Two new federal suits, in Washington state and Maine, seek to build on that precedent to end government-mandated religious discrimination in programs that pay for work-study programs and high-school tuition. Although the plaintiffs in these cases live at opposite ends of the country, they face similar discriminatory laws rooted in antireligious animus. A victory in their cases could clear the way for states to adopt programs that empower parents—rather than government—to direct the education of their children.)

— Illinois Republicans: Prepare for a crash landing – Kristen McQueary
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-perspec-mcqueary-illinois-republicans-rauner-pritzker-20180821-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: He’s also struggling with a wide enthusiasm gap. It’s late August and he has not managed to corral his conservative base or gin up support for his own agenda. Instead, he continues to flap against Madigan. Rauner is still getting hammered for the state’s budget impasse while Democrats who fed it are coasting. Remember: Rauner vetoed the first budget sent to him because it was $4 billion out of balance. The next budget the House prepared in 2016 was $7 billion out of balance. And the 2017 budget that included a 32 percent income tax hike and zero spending reforms? Rauner vetoed it. The legislature overrode him. You don’t hear enough about Rauner protecting taxpayers against a spend-happy legislature that hasn’t passed a balanced budget in more than a decade. Republican voters who felt jubilant on election night 2014 with Rauner’s victory and renewed hope that Illinois would turn itself around should prepare for a crash landing. Bring plenty of tequila. In once-safe DuPage County, Trump’s antics and Pritzker’s money are mixing a strong anti-GOP antidote. Rep. Peter Breen, R-Lombard, who sailed to Springfield on a strong record of fiscal conservatism, is locked in a race with a liberal Madigan-funded Democrat, Terra Costa Howard of Glen Ellyn. She also is getting support from Planned Parenthood, with whom Rauner partnered in signing House Bill 40, which expanded public funding of abortion. The fact that Breen, and even GOP Congressman Peter Roskam of Wheaton, are struggling to retain their seats in DuPage County is a manifestation of a fading-fast Republican Party in Illinois. Other Republican-leaning areas, including Rep. Tom Morrison’s Palatine-based district and an up-for-grabs seat in Arlington Heights, are possible flips to the Democrats. Rep. John Cabello, R-Machesney Park, is in a tighter-than-expected race with Democrat Jake Castanza of Rockford. Prognosticators also say it’s going to be a rough ride for Republicans Jerry Lee Long of Streator and Lindsay Parkhurst of Kankakee. The GOP fought hard to wrest those seats from the Democrats and now the pendulum might swing back. Again — anything can happen. But the campaign expenditure reports from Pritzker are revealing, not just in their indulgences but in their braggadocio. You can almost hear the pop of a Champagne cork with each entry.)

— WHAT IS THE EVIDENCE FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA TO TREAT THE ADDICTION EPIDEMIC?
http://www.poppot.org/2018/08/18/slim-evidence-medical-marijuana-for-opiates/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Marijuana Policy Project promotes their drug as a substitute for opiate pain pills. Like the worst offenders in the opiate industry, the cannabis lobby follows an addiction-for-profit business model. Their master plan needs 80% of the demand to be met by 20% of the users. Science shows no evidence for using medical marijuana as a substitute for pain pills. Governor David Ige of Hawaii wisely refused to cave to lobbyists, and he vetoed a measure that would have allowed medical marijuana to treat opiate addiction. A large-scale, major study from Australia demonstrates that cannabis doesn’t work as a substitute for opiate pills in instances of chronic, non-cancer pain. The study came out in July, 2018 and it supports the findings of an American study published in September, 2017.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The head of the Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association says the governor’s use of his personal wealth to rebuild the state Republican Party is breaking the GOP. Doug House sought to differentiate between Rauner giving millions of dollars to the state Republican Party and J.B. Pritzker’s cash helping to rebuild the Democratic Party. “He broke the Republican Party. He took a large amount of money and set it in front of a fan and turned it on and it just spread across the state Republican Party in a way that did motivate or make them enthusiastic for their candidacy, but it didn’t do anything to build their party. It didn’t create any infrastructure. It didn’t motivate and bring out any activists and build the party through people,” House said Sunday on WGN-AM 720. “Once that money’s gone and once that resource is gone, I feel that he’s broken the Republican Party in a way they will have forgotten what they have learned in terms of raising money and in terms of that grassroots infrastructure type of things they did,” he said. In contrast, House said Pritzker’s money has helped set up the “Blue Wave Illinois” program that included candidate recruitment, training and organizational help for county Democratic organizations across the state that work in building grassroots support. Democrats, House said, have “certainly benefited by his enthusiasm but also by the resources he’s brought to bear to help rebuild and re-energize our party across the state. He’s expressed a genuine interest from the very beginning in the introduction of himself and his campaign that he was interested in helping to build the party.”)

QUAD CITY TIMES
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Democrats promote a Democrat who says “Good Republicans can vote Dem.” Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. What do you say to those in Illinois who cast Republican primary ballots, who become Republican precinct committeemen/captains, who get elected to leadership positions in Republican organizations, who get elected as Republicans to government offices, etc., but who talk and act like they are really Democrats, Libertarians, or Greens? They fail/refuse to promote the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and other planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform. They promote dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, abolition of the Second Amendment, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, retaliation, and even worse things.)

— Unbalanced Illinois…again and again and again – Ted Dabrowski and John Klingner (DIERSEN: What, if anything, has unbalanced you budget for this year? For me it was my 1972 Corvette. D&M Corvette in Downers Grove has appraised my 1972 Corvette at $41,500. But that was after I recently invested $6,702 in the car – $5,228 to D&M ($3,466 labor and $1,762 parts) and $1,474 to Coker Tire for 5 Firestone Wide Oval replica tires. I had not started the car for almost 9 years. Most of D&M’s bill was for repairing damage that ethanol did to car’s entire fuel system. The master cylinder and four calipers were replaced, A/C was charged, carburetor was rebuilt and fuel pump replaced, minor electrical and mechanical problems were fixed, five new tires were installed, new battery was installed, etc. I could have avoided much if not all of the fuel system and brake problems if I had driven the car more – at least once each summer. But my excuse for not starting the car since 2009 is that since 2004, I have spent 10+ hours each and every day putting GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails together and sending them out.)

So there is still more work to do. Social mobility has declined in the last 30 years in the UK and in particular, fair access to the professions. The statistics are pretty damning: only 7% of the population attend independent schools but the privately-educated account for more than half of the top level of most professions, including 70% of high court judges, 54% of top journalists and 54% of chief executive officers of FTSE100 companies, according to a Sutton Trust report.)

This rate illustrates the share of 16 to 24 year olds who are working or looking and available for work. For 16-to-19 year-olds in particular, participation is at a record low. 1. LOUIS TODAY
    — Amateur hour in Illinois – Kevin McDermott (DIERSEN: What experience do you have? How hard have your critics/opponents worked to marginalize your experience? My critics/opponents have always worked extremely hard to marginalize my experience. I worked for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $96,403-$125,325. I worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880. I am a Forensic Accountant, Certified Financial Services Auditor, Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Fraud Examiner, licensed CPA, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and CPA. I passed the CIA and CPA examinations on my first attempt. I have master’s degrees in finance, accounting, and business.)
    https://www.stltoday.com/opinion/columnists/mcdermott-amateur-hour-in-illinois/article_cd4033ec-6c60-5f2c-b205-355ea0348fab.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: I’m terrible with cars. I mean, can’t-so-much-as-change-a-spark-plug terrible. May I tune yours up for you? I’m bad in the kitchen, too. Eggs and toast are pretty much my whole repertoire, and I tend to burn the toast. Want me to cater your next event? You’d probably rather call a chef, or a mechanic. Expertise matters. Except when it comes to filling the top leadership posts in our democracy. Then, it seems, we’re ready to take a chance on those who have never led so much as a school board meeting. How often have you heard a candidate for governor, senator, even president boast that his or her complete lack of lower-rung political experience is a shimmering plus rather than a glaring minus? And how does that usually work out? Think about disgraced ex-Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens. Think about our current chaos president. Why do we imagine that high political leadership is the one job best left to the amateurs? Picture your dentist using that logic: I’ve never actually worked on teeth before. I’m proud to be an “outsider.” Open wide! That’s basically what’s unfolding right now in Illinois. For the second consecutive election, voters in the Land of Lincoln this November will choose a mega-wealthy governor who has never held any lower political office, and who only got to this one with a massive boost from his personal checkbook. We know this will be true regardless of the election result, because it’s a description that fits both of the major-party candidates. Sure, incumbent Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner can claim four years of on-the-job training, but given his performance during that time, it’s not much of a claim. He had never held any political office before buying into his first gubernatorial term in 2014 with $27.6 million from his own pocket. A venture capitalist, what he brought with him from that world were boardroom skills that you can’t say have been unproductive in office — because they’ve been counterproductive in office. As for Hyatt Hotels heir and Democratic nominee J.B. Pritzker, it seems his primary qualification for governor, and the main reason his party handed him the nomination over more experienced Democrats, is the 10-figure fortune he was born into and his willingness to use it. Rauner is worth nine figures, and Democrats decided to fight fire with more fire. Business people with no political experience who run for high office invariably argue that their business skills are not just an adequate substitute for political skills, but are better. This has never made sense. The goals, rules and responsibilities of business are completely different from those of politics. Rauner’s first term has been a textbook illustration of those differences.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: In Crete-Monee Consolidated District 201-U, budget constraints and limited grants have made it “very difficult” to finance needed security measures, said Rochelle Clark, assistant superintendent of district affairs. In the near future, the district hopes to place a school resource officer at its middle and high schools and one to “float” among the elementary buildings, she said. This would not only help monitor student movement during passing periods, school activities and afterschool activities, but would offer an opportunity for officers to build relationships with students and families, she said. All administrators will participate in online training followed by in-person sessions and will work with local police officers to provide “realistic” evacuation and intruder drills, she said. But other challenges to school security include access to the school buildings and varying ideas as to what the students, staff and community “perceive” as safe, Clark said.)

Despite my Democrat superiors’ best efforts to waste my career and to get rid of me, despite their getting rid of my first mentor in 1975, despite their getting rid of my second mentor in 1987, and despite my becoming an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation in 1988, I nevertheless survived a) for almost 3 years working part-time for the Post Office 1966-1969, b) for almost 9 years working for IRS 1971-1980, and c) for almost 18 years working for GAO 1980-1997. Further, IRS promoted me to GS-9 (currently $55,905) in 1972, to GS-11 (currently $67,638) in 1973, and to GS-12 (currently $81,071) in 1974 and GAO promoted me to GS-13 (currently $96,403) in 1986. In today’s dollars, my ending salary was $125,325.  I have not heard that Trump has disavowed “up-or-out,” so federal employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran should still expect to be gotten rid of if they do not make GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40. Extremely few federal employees get promoted that fast. Of course, prospective federal employees should be advised that virtually everyone despises if not hates federal employees, former federal employees, and federal retirees.)

https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/yale-new-haven-connecticut-park-overdoses-synthetic-marijuana-k2/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The number of overdose victims linked to a suspected bad batch of synthetic marijuana has risen to 76 in New Haven, Connecticut, as officials try to determine exactly what sickened people. People on and around the historic New Haven Green near Yale University began falling ill shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, and the overdoses continued into Thursday morning. No deaths were reported, and most people brought to hospitals have been discharged, officials said. Symptoms varied. Many victims lost consciousness, officials said. Others vomited. Some just became nauseous or lethargic. City officials said police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel will staff a command post on the Green for the time being, and social workers and private health outreach workers will be on hand. Toxicology testing remained incomplete Thursday. Some victims tested positive for the powerful opioid fentanyl, but it appeared most if not all the overdoses were caused only by a potent batch of “K2” synthetic marijuana, said Dr. Kathryn Hawk, an emergency medicine physician and professor at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where many of the victims were treated.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Working on the Luxury Sales team has been amazing, but I think that out of all the projects I’ve done this summer my most fulfilling project has been my Maker Week project. I worked on a Diversity & Inclusion project with interns from a variety of departments to create an employee resource site. The idea came from the fact that many people were unaware of diversity initiatives throughout the company so we thought that creating a database and website to record the diversity initiatives would be a great internal resource and create visibility for the programs. First, we gathered all the information about the diversity initiatives to create the database. Second, we interviewed different people in the company like A.G. Sulzberger, Dean Baquet, Meredith Kopit Levien and other employees involved in diversity initiatives. Lastly, we formatted the website to hold the database, show diversity efforts in recruiting, the newsroom and the business side. We also added a tab for various conferences based on departments. Our showcase at Maker Week was great because employees seemed really interested in the accessibility of the website. It was one of the best projects I’ve worked on and I’m so glad to have been a part of it. I think this project really taught me to be bold in my work. I spoke to all these amazing people by just emailing them and taking a chance and it worked out which was amazing. I’ve also been a diversity advocate throughout my years in school and this project showed me how an idea from one of my passions can become a useful reality. In the fall, I’ll be heading back to Syracuse University to be a Resident Advisor for my last year. I’ll also be a peer facilitator for our first diversity-oriented freshman forum. I want to use the skills I’ve learned in this internship to create something amazing on my campus that is fueled by my passion just like I got to create at The New York Times.)

— The top 10 most successful cities in the U.S. Based on median income, unemployment rate, and education rate, here are the most successful cities in the country. – Macy Bayern
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/the-top-10-most-successful-cities-in-the-us/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Zippia, a career search engine, found the most successful city in every US state. Using Census data from the 2012-2016 American Community Survey PUMS, Zippia ranked cities based on median income, unemployment rate, and education rate (percentage of residents over 25 with a bachelor’s degree). Each city’s success was measured on a scale of 1 to the number of cities in each state, along with the three variables above, and averaged those values to determine an individual index, according to Zippia’s announcement. The lower the score, the better the rating, said Zippia. Here are Zippia’s top 10 most successful US cities in 2018: 1. Glencoe, Illinois. . .Ranked first is Glencoe, Illinois, right outside of Chicago. With a median income of $185,320, unemployment rate of 1.5%, and education rate of 86.7%, Glencoe reigns supreme. In close proximity to Chicago, residents can escape the fast pace of the Windy City, while still being in close proximity to visit.)

AMERICAN PROSPECT
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Ever-increasingly, since the Civil War, Democrats blame Republicans for all the problems that Blacks have had, are having, and will have. What if the Union had not defeated the Confederacy, that is, what if Republicans had not defeated the Democrats?

FED SMITH
— GAO Report Suggests Improvements for Handling Federal Employee Misconduct – Ian Smith (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that my Democrat superiors in the federal government took adverse employment actions against me, that is, disciplined me, because of my misconduct and a) NOT because of political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, or age discrimination, b) NOT because I complained about the aforesaid, and c) NOT because I became an active member in a class action lawsuit in 1988 when I was 40 years old that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)
https://www.fedsmith.com/2018/08/15/report-suggests-improvements-handling-federal-employee-misconduct/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: GAO said that an average of less than 1 percent (17,000) of the federal government’s 2.1 million employees are formally disciplined for misconduct annually. While this is a very small number, GAO notes that even a few cases of employee misconduct can have significant impacts on workplace morale and impede an agency’s efforts to achieve its mission. Based on data from the Office of Personnel Management, federal agencies made 10,249 suspensions, 7,411 removals, and 114 demotions for misconduct in 2016. However, GAO said that because of weaknesses in OPM’s data on employee misconduct, which is provided by the agencies, OPM is unable to accurately target supervisory training to address misconduct, and decision-makers do not know the full extent or nature of this misconduct. Examples of employee misconduct can include: time and attendance infractions, intoxication, workplace violence, physical aggression toward an employee, improper use of a government-issued credit card, misuse of government equipment (such as viewing pornography or gambling), use of public position for private gain, behavior that affects national security)

FED WEEK
— Age Discrimination, 50 Years Later – Editorial (DIERSEN: For federal employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran, age discrimination starts at age 25. The federal government wastes the careers of and gets rid its employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran who fail to make GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40. Extremely few federal employees make the aforesaid promotions.)
https://www.fedweek.com/publishers-perspective/age-discrimination-50-years-later/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The federal government officially outlawed age discrimination in the workplace 50 years ago and therefore it is now nothing but a distant memory. We now pause for the laughter to die down. Unfortunately, it is still with us—as are a number of other forms of bias also outlawed around the same time, not incidentally—according to the very agency that enforces the law in the federal workplace as in other workplaces, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act was passed in 1967 but its effective date was put off until June of the following year. The law barred discrimination on grounds of age with respect to any term, condition, or privilege of employment; barred retaliation for opposing employment practices that discriminate based on age or for filing an age discrimination charge; and generally barred including age preferences in job notices. Protection against bias on the basis of advanced age was an admirable foresight in a nation awash with young baby boomers. However, “After 50 years of a federal law whose purpose is to promote the employment of older workers based on ability, age discrimination remains too common and too accepted,” says an EEOC report. “Despite decades of research finding that age does not predict ability or performance, employers often fall back on precisely the ageist stereotypes the ADEA was enacted to prohibit.” While quantifying age discrimination is difficult—in part because, like other forms of discrimination it often is not formally reported—“the perception that age discrimination exists in our workplaces is prevalent,” it said. It cited a recent survey finding that more than 6 in 10 workers age 45 and older say they have seen or experienced age discrimination in the workplace and of those, 90 percent say it is somewhat or very common. This most frequently takes the form of unlawful firing, harassment, discriminatory terms of employment and discriminatory discipline, said the assessment of the nationwide workforce whose findings should be of special concern in the generally older federal workforce. For those who don’t have a job and are looking at an older age—such as in the common scenario of a federal employee who retires relatively young and wishes to continue working—things can be even worse. In another survey cited in the report, more than 3 of 4 older workers said their age was an obstacle to finding a job. It also cited studies that have documented age discrimination by employers as reflected by the share of job applicants who are called for an interview when applications contained an age, versus those that were age-neutral. Employers also have been found to be signaling a preference for younger workers by stating that “digital natives” are needed.)

GOVERNMENT EXECUTIVE
— Being a Federal Employee, Simplified – Steve Goodrich (DIERSEN: Good rich should write about Affirmative Action (AA), Diversity, and Inclusion. Goodrich should write about patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. Goodrich should write about how Democrats use AA, Diversity, and Inclusion to not hire Republicans, to not retain Republicans, to not promote Republicans, and to get rid of Republicans.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The average age of a federal employee is pushing closer to the 50-year mark and less than 17 percent of workers are under age 35, pointing to the facts that people are working longer and fewer young people are entering government. Civil service reform discussions have for years focused on streamlining hiring and modernizing the approach to employee compensation, never quite getting any of it done. Some believe federal employees are underpaid, others claim they’re overpaid. Maybe there is just too much noise in the system for some to regard federal employment as a great place to work. Perhaps we need to hit the reset button and take a hard look at what is right. Let’s begin with a basic premise: To obtain a job, you must possess a skill set, or at least the aptitude to develop the skills needed. Employment then becomes a form of contract. The employer agrees to pay the employee money and benefits in exchange for job performance consistent with defined requirements and standards. This should be obvious. However, in today’s environment we need to add a second premise: In a rapidly changing world, jobs and organizations must continually evolve, grow, and adapt to be effective. This applies to government, not just the private sector. It should be easy, right? Unfortunately, it’s not. Achieving the following three things would go a long way toward improving the performance and accountability of federal employees.)
— One Quarter of Suspended Feds Have Been Suspended Before – Eric Katz (DIERSEN: Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes stress the many adverse employment actions that my Democrat superiors in the federal government took against me. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
