Many members of the Muslim community, as well as a number of Muslim elected officials and upcoming Muslim candidates, were there. Ashfaq Hussain, a member of the Naperville City Council; Saba Haider, a member of the DuPage County Board; Syed Hussain, a candidate for US Congress District 8th Junaid; former Glendale Heights Mayor Chaudhry Asif Khokar; Mahnoor Ahmed, a candidate for the DuPage County Board; and a number of other attendees attended the annual holiday dinner. To assist local families, the DuPage Young Democrats organized a holiday supply drive in tandem with the event. Bringing together elected officials, party candidates, volunteers, and community members to promote partnerships and camaraderie was one of the event’s main goals. Honoring Success: The party’s recent achievements, especially its wins in the April elections, were honored at the ceremony. Additionally, the party utilized the event as a fundraiser to support the election of Democrats in DuPage County. Along with outlining the party’s future objectives and tactics, participants also talked on the opportunities and difficulties for the upcoming year. The recent DuPage Democrats’ annual event featured a number of keynote speakers, including: The event’s keynote speaker, Christian Mitchell, will be Illinois’s next lieutenant governor. Dr. Robin Kelly was present at the ceremony and gave a speech. She commended Reed McCollum, the chairman of the DuPage County party, for his attempts to change DuPage County from being “red” (with a Republican majority) to “blue” (with a Democratic majority). Among the prominent sponsors and speakers were Illinois Lieutenant Governor Julina Stratton and US Congress candidate Junaid Ahmed. Along with these keynote speakers, the audience was addressed by over eighty other elected officials, candidates for the Senate and Congress, and local leaders. The main political goal of Julina Stratton is to represent Illinois in the US Senate. Currently serving as Illinois’ lieutenant governor, she has formally begun her campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2026. She discusses focusing on the concerns of middle-class families, increasing wages, and making life more affordable. She stated that she is in favor of ideas like “Medicare for All” and increasing access to healthcare. National Football League end zones say “Choose Love” and “It Takes All of Us.” Empathy? More like images over action. Then there are coddlers. They paternalistically throw money at problems: welfare, drug programs, ObamaCare. They create rules and regulations to protect “marginalized” groups: Title IX, affirmative action and federal contract set-asides. To pay for it, they rationalize redistribution of wealth so the world can be “fair” for everyone. This progressive playbook often fails. Economist Milton Friedman put it best: “One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.” Intentions like “social justice” inevitably lead to organizing and activism and raised taxes—empathy is expensive!—and redistribution of wealth, without solving the underlying problems. For me, empathy and that elusive righteousness is about restoring lost dignity. And that often means setting up rules and then getting out of the way and letting freedom and free markets do their magic. There is little political credit for that whole “freedom” thing. Just results. The American way is: Do what you want, but respect the dignity of others. An essential part of respect is to not be pitied. Freedom is dignity. That’s true empathy.)

In his post, Verma argued that educational pedigree and family background play a decisive role in determining future success. He claimed that those who attend elite institutions such as Ivy League universities or India’s IITs and IIMs are far more likely to see their children enter top colleges and corporate leadership roles, while people engaged in low-paid or manual labor largely come from poor families, irrespective of talent or hard work. “If you went to an Ivy League or the IIT/IIM route, your kids will likely attend a good college. And there is zero chance that they will end up doing manual labor. If you are a billionaire, your kids will 100% attend Yale, Stanford, or Harvard (or something similar).
