— Illinois Secretary of State’s Office accepting applications for annual summer job program. DD: What summer jobs did you have? I did yard work and delivered newspapers in 1962, 1963, and 1964. I washed dishes in 1965. I cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline in 1966. I delivered mail in 1967, 1968, and 1969. While the aforesaid jobs provided me with Social Security credits starting in 1964, Civil Service Retirement System credits starting 1966, and money to buy cars and to pay for my college expenses, they did not provide me with valuable work experience. In today’s dollars, my Post Office job paid $19.57-$20.87/hour.

DD: I should write about my Democrat superiors in the federal government who took adverse actions against me. I would focus on my Democrat GAO superiors who a) forced me to retire when I was 49 years old in 1997, b) delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13, c) always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance, d) kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and e) forced me to take $23,699/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS in 1980. I would focus on my Democrat IRS superiors who a) never promoted me beyond GS-12, b) disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and c) disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974. I would focus on my Democrat Post Office superiors who a) forced me to resign in 1969 and b) disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. They would not have taken any of the aforesaid adverse actions against me if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran. Federal employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or nonveteran do not have Civil Service protections.

— How interested in the March 17 primary are the voters in your county, township, municipality, school district, and precinct? Do they know which offices are on the ballots in their precinct and who the candidates are? Which contested races are they most interested in and why? What do they know about the candidates in the contested races? What criteria do they use to pick candidates? How much weight do they give to endorsements and fundraising success? Have they voted already? Will they vote? Have they/will they cast a Republican or Democrat ballot and why? Do they know that casting a partisan ballot affiliates them with that party for 2 years? How successful have Democrat leaders been shouting that if you do not like what Trump has said or done, you should cast a Democrat ballot, and if not that, you should do not vote at all? I am very interested in the election results in my precinct. I spent many hours a) putting 800 mailing labels for the Republican and NA voters in my precinct and 400 return address labels on 400 DuPage County GOP envelopes, b) putting them into walk order, c) stuffing them with an unmarked sample ballot, a Milton Township Republican Organization (MTRO) Voter Guide, and campaign literature the five Republican candidates who provided MTRO with their literature, d) dividing them into 5 batches, and e) hand-delivering them. I used my photocopier, paper, and ink to copy the unmarked sample ballot 400 times 2-sided back-to-back. If I spent 6 minutes getting each envelope ready, that would be 40 hours. I spent about 15 hours hand-delivering the envelopes, or about 3 hours per batch. Only one registered hard-D voter in my precinct threatened me for what I did. – Dave Diersen

— When, from where, and why did your ancestors immigrate? I will never forget the diversity event that my Democrat GAO Chicago office superiors held at which we were all forced to publicly disclose when, from where, and why your ancestors immigrated. Of course, I disclosed that all my ancestors immigrated during the 1840s and 1850s from what is now Germany and that they immigrated to escape problems where they lived. Virtually all of my Democrat GAO Chicago office superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were Democrats. Virtually none in the office was conservative and Republican like me. Virtually all of them had parents, grandparents, etc. who had been killed by the Germans in WWI and/or WWII. I stressed that my grandfather on my father’s side fought the Germans in WWI and that my uncles on my mother’s side fought the Germans in WWII. In my defense, I had earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970 and I completed a graduate evening business course at UIC in 1971 and four graduate evening business courses at Loyola in 1972.
