Legal documents from Maryland, Oregon and Florida provide a partial picture of a woman who stepped into the media glare amid the battle over Kavanaugh’s nomination for the nation’s highest court. Court records reviewed by The Associated Press show Swetnick has been involved in at least six legal cases over the past 25 years. Along with the lawsuit filed by a former employer in November 2000, the cases include a personal injury suit she filed in 1994 against the Washington, D.C., regional transit authority. The number of committee staff in the House has declined from 2,000 to 1,100, and from 1,400 to 950 in the Senate since 1979. Congressional support agencies suffered similar cuts. Government Accountability Office staff dropped from 5,300 to 3,000; Congressional Research Service staff was reduced by 28 percent; the Office of Technology Assessment was completely abolished. As Congress’ internal expertise has declined, the number of think tanks has more than doubled since 1980. I was baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran. All my ancestors came from what is now Germany. My wife and I are childless. None of my degrees are from Ivy League universities. None of my ancestors attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. I graduated from a public co-ed high school. My participation in sports was all but ended by a bone disease. I did not display any kind of leadership potential in high school or college. My college majors were management, business, accounting, and finance. I never made any academic honor roles. I was never a member of a fraternity. While Kavanaugh lived in a “dilapidated group house” when he attended law school, I stayed at University Plaza Dormitory and Lincolnshire West Apartments while I attended NIU. While Democrats forced me into early retirement in 1997 when I was 49 years old, Republicans nominated Kavanaugh for the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018 when he was 53 years old. While I am a Republican Precinct Committeeman, Kavanaugh is not. While am a State Editor for www.GOPUSA.com, Kavanaugh is not. While Kavanaugh “serves as a lector at his Washington, D.C. church, the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The ad features Anne Wedner, a former backer of President Barack Obama, who is founder of Kent Road Strategies, who has worked on Democratic and Republican campaigns with a focus on the North Shore. Billing herself as a lifelong Democrat, Wedner touts her childhood support for the Equal Rights Amendment and her dissatisfaction with national politics — a distancing effort from Trump aimed at helping Rauner in the suburbs while he seeks Trump supporter backing Downstate. “Today, I’m not happy with Washington and I’m also heartbroken about Illinois,” she says. “We have to fix our financial problems and Bruce Rauner is the only candidate with the courage to do it,” she adds.
