CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Did the 2011 White House correspondents’ dinner spur Trump to run for president? – Amy B Wang  (DIERSEN: Democrats are disciples of Saul Alinsky.  Alinsky’s fifth rule encourages the use of ridicule.  I should write a book about those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who use ridicule.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/politics/ct-white-house-correspondents-dinner-trump-20170226-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: If several media and political pundits are to be believed, President Donald Trump sits in the White House today as the result of several hours one warm April evening nearly six years ago: the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. That year, at the invitation of none other than The Washington Post, Trump — then best known for “Celebrity Apprentice” – attended the event, an annual gathering of journalists that typically has been headlined by the sitting president. Or, as The Post’s Roxanne Roberts once described it, a dinner “devolved from a little-known media evening into a black-tie mash-up of the Super Bowl, the Oscars and Davos, Washington-style.” Trump was no ordinary celebrity guest in 2011, however. In addition to being a reality TV fixture, he was one of the most vocal opponents of President Barack Obama, leading the “birther” movement that had demanded Obama release his birth certificate. Trump had also been hinting, not for the first time, that he might launch his own bid for the presidency. All of those things coalesced to make Trump the target of a large swath of jokes at the 2011 correspondents’ dinner. First came Obama, who roasted Trump for a full five minutes that evening, seeming to delight in directing zingers at the man who had questioned whether he was a legitimate president. (Unbeknown to the world then, the president was also, at the same time, authorizing the raid that would kill Osama bin Laden.) “No one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald,” Obama said. “That’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like: Did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?” Obama also joked about Trump’s experience to lead the nation. “All kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience,” he said. “For example, no, seriously, just recently in an episode of ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ at the steakhouse, the men’s cooking team did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around, but you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership and so, ultimately, you didn’t blame Little John or Meatloaf — you fired Gary Busey. And these are the kinds of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well-handled, sir. Well-handled.” But it was comedian Seth Meyers, the host of that year’s dinner, who really laid into Trump. For several minutes, Meyers lobbed one joke after another at Trump’s expense, even wedging in a prescient imitation of Trump hosting a White House news conference: “Gary Busey said recently that Donald Trump would make an excellent president. Of course, he said the same thing about an old, rusty birdcage he found.” “Donald Trump has been saying that he will run for president as a Republican – which is surprising, since I just assumed that he was running as a joke.” “Donald Trump owns the Miss USA pageant, which is great for Republicans because it will streamline their search for a vice president.” Video from the dinner would later show Trump seemingly frozen in the audience, lips pursed, staring straight ahead with his face set into something between a squint and a hard scowl, as Meyers continued. Several publications have since seized upon the 2011 dinner as the moment in which Trump’s political ambitions crystallized. “That evening of public abasement, rather than sending Mr. Trump away, accelerated his ferocious efforts to gain stature within the political world,” the New York Times wrote last March. “And it captured the degree to which Mr. Trump’s campaign is driven by a deep yearning sometimes obscured by his bluster and bragging: a desire to be taken seriously.”)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— More taxes? Really? – PAUL FICHTNER, Member, DuPage County Board
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20170224/ISSUE07/170229911
(FROM THE LETTER: I read with interest a recent opinion piece (“Here’s a way to stop Illinois’ shame spiral,” Feb. 15) by Michael Belsky that calls for a “tax revision commission.” I suspect his main goal is to call for a tax on services when he says, “Today only 17 percent comes from the sale of goods and 71 percent is derived from services. The service economy is benefiting from the state and not sharing in the cost. This is wrong.” In 1965, there was no state income tax. Today it is 3.75 percent, soon to go higher. Sales taxes that were 4 percent in 1965 are now over 10 percent in Chicago. These large increases in taxation rates over the years have made up for any “lack of service tax revenue” and were probably designed with the fact that services are not taxed. Last year, 37,508 people moved out of Illinois, and companies have made decisions not to locate here. Residents are leaving because of high tax rates that have also caused businesses to not move or expand. An additional service tax will hurt the very service industry that he shows is such an important part of our economy. It is very disappointing to hear the drumbeat of more revenue as the “only way” to recover from bad fiscal management. The crisis I see is the lack of urgency in addressing ideas to reduce expenses, smart consolidation of governments and exploring privatization of some government functions. Pushing aside my 10.75 percent sales-taxed breakfast in Chicago this fine morning, I call for the creation of an Expense/Efficiency Revision Commission, on par with any Tax Revision Commission.)

They ignored/belittled my GS-12 IRS Special Procedures Staff position description that I worked under 1976-1980.  They ignored/belittled the GS-12 IRS Revenue Officer position description that I worked under 1974-1976. — Who’s watching the watcher? How local governments fall prey to big thefts – Editorial  (DIERSEN: What qualifications do those who are paid to watch units of government in your municipality, in your township/ward, in your county, and in Illinois have? GAO audits federal agencies. I worked for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels (currently $94,610-$122,991). For almost 9 of those years, I worked on audits of federal financial industry regulators; for almost 6 years, on audits of many other federal agencies; and for 3 years, on audits of IRS.  I worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173. I served on the Executive Committee of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants for 13 years.  I passed the CPA examination and the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt.  I am a licensed CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Financial Services Auditor, and Forensic Accountant. I have masters degrees in business, accounting, and financial markets and trading. Because I have so many qualifications, those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who do not want me to expose their wrongdoing focus on demonizing me, denigrating me, and condemning me.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/editorials/ct-madigan-essex-kankakee-public-corruption-edit-0225-jm-20170224-story.html
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Governments are required to hire auditors, but many audits essentially rely on records provided by the officials being audited. Audits often are cursory and nonprobing. In the Dixon case, the city’s outside auditors and bankers settled with the city for nearly $40 million — a rare admission of accountability failure. Burnham officials sued their auditors for not catching the theft. The list of embezzlement cases involving public officials is long, but nearly every case involves three culprits: Too little oversight. Too concentrated control. Too much trust. If you’re an elected official (you too, school board members) or government worker who deals with taxpayer-funded accounts, be vigilant — and not only of your own conduct. Ask the questions: Who has access to the accounts and who oversees that person? How many signatures are required on transactions? How probing are the audits we’re paying for? That is: Who’s watching the watcher?)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Billionaire pols could use a little farm team training – Editorial  (DIERSEN: What do you know about the federal government? GAO audits federal agencies.  I worked for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels (currently $94,610-$122,991). For almost 9 of those years, I worked on audits of federal financial industry regulators; for almost 6 years, on audits of many other federal agencies; and for 3 years, on audits of IRS.  I worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173. I served on the Executive Committee of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants for 13 years.)
http://chicago.suntimes.com/opinion/editorial-billionaire-pols-could-use-a-little-farm-team-training/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In politics, there used to be farm teams.  If you planned to run for governor some day, you might start out by running for the Chicago City Council. You could learn to hit a curve ball before moving up. But now very wealthy men — they all seem to be men — with no previous experience in elective office are pushing right to the top. People like Bruce Rauner, Donald Trump, Chris Kennedy and J.B. Pritzker, self-funded and self-impressed, are running for governor or senator or president or whatever and often winning. Because money often wins. But because they have never played even a summer or two of Triple-A ball, hacking away on a local school board or village board, they are prone to the kind of mental errors that could have been avoided with a little seasoning. We’re thinking here, first of all, of major league wannabee J.B. Pritzker, the Chicago billionaire who’s contemplating a run for governor. On Thursday morning, Pritzker woke up and could not resist an overwhelming desire to tweet out: “As a protest against Trump’s rescinding protections for trans kids, everyone should use the other gender’s bathroom today!” This did not go over well. Conservatives, choosing to take his suggestion literally, warned they would beat up any man who tried to enter a woman’s bathroom. And liberals said Pritzker entirely missed the point. As state Rep. Will Guzzardi tweeted in response, “No disrespect” but “we just want to let kids use their own gender’s bathroom.” Pritzker later clarified that he was just being flip to make a point. But a more experienced politician would have known that flip doesn’t play with the public. And you have to learn when not to swing. Maybe Pritzker will learn. They often do. Will Kennedy still run into elevators when reporters ask him annoying questions? Time will tell. But Rauner doesn’t talk as much anymore like an arrogant CEO. And who knows, if Trump strikes out enough, maybe even he will learn. Well, no, we don’t actually believe that. Our best scouts say Trump is not coachable.)

The ID cards feature fingerprints, retinal-imaging and 27 digital locks to prevent identification theft, according to Marco Peral, of the consulate offices. Ron Noriega said the unit provides services to all who come. “They’re Mexicans, regardless of their status,” she said. “We don’t ask, there’s no reason to ask. We’re only providing a service.” The mobile unit’s services expanded this year, to include health screenings and legal advice on immigration, labor and other administrative issues. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Immigration  Trump argued in 2013 that the Republican Party would continue to lose elections if GOP lawmakers granted citizenship to illegal immigrants, comparing reform efforts that included amnesty to a “suicide mission.”  “The fact is 11 million people will be voting Democratic. You can be out front. You can be the spearhead. You can do whatever you want to do, but every one of those 11 million people will be voting Democratic,” Trump said, adding, “It is just the way it works.”  In 2015, Trump again made immigration a major emphasis in his speech. “It’s a massive problem we have to stop illegal immigration,” Trump explained. “It’s disgusting what is happening to our country, we are a dumping ground for the rest of the world.”  Trump also highlighted the immediate need for a border wall. “We need a wall. If I run, I will tell you, the king of building buildings, the king of building walls,” Trump said, “Nobody can build ’em like Trump. That I can promise you. I can promise you that.”)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Rauner eager to talk policy at D.C. meeting — Trump still a taboo – Andy Grimm  (DIERSEN: What if the Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee passed a resolution by weighted vote calling for Rauner to work with Trump?)
http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/rauner-eager-to-talk-policy-at-d-c-meeting-trump-still-a-taboo/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Gov. Bruce Rauner is planning a rare visit to Washington, D.C., this weekend for a gathering of Republican governors, but Rauner refuses to say whether he is ready to do something even more rare — meet with, or even acknowledge, President Donald Trump. The event has long been a major party fundraiser, and this year could be a potential minefield for GOP governors of blue states. Rauner departs Illinois for the Republican Governors Association’s annual conference having pledged to run for a second term in 2018, despite dismal polling numbers after two years of partisan gridlock over the state budget and his business-friendly, anti-union agenda. Adding to potential headwinds for his campaign is the controversial member of his party in the White House. Rauner has taken a stance of studied ambivalence as regards the Republican in the White House since Trump first began to rise in the primaries. Rauner ditched the Republican National Convention, declined to endorse Trump by name — only saying he would support his party’s nominee — and also was a no-show at Trump’s inauguration. Rauner has revealed one private telephone conversation he had with Trump since the New York billionaire won the presidency, describing it as a “good, positive conversation.” But Rauner seldom utters the name “Donald Trump,” and Friday he did not respond to a question about whether he would attend the GOP governors’ Sunday dinner with the president and first lady. “I’m going to meet with other governors around the country to talk about policy,” Rauner told reporters after a Black History Month ceremony Friday at the Thompson Center. “There’s a lot of changes going on from the federal level. We’re going to talk about Medicaid, we’re going to talk about education, we’re going to talk about regulatory relief, going to talk about more economic growth, growing more manufacturing in the United States of America, more manufacturing in the state of Illinois. “I’m going to talk policy, ideas and working together as governors to advocated for the good changes, so I can grow the jobs and economy in Illinois.” Left unsaid was whether Rauner took issue with the changes, coming largely from Trump, and any mention of Trump’s name. Trump, for his part, has seemed to accept that governors in his party in blue states weren’t going to be vocal supporters. And while the president frequently makes Chicago, Illinois’ largest city, a target in his twitter feed, he has never tweeted a peep about the fiscal crisis facing the state as Rauner remains at loggerheads with Democrats in the Legislature. Rauner seldom travels to Washington and is skipping out on the non-partisan National Governors Association conference, also this weekend in D.C., typically a more policy-focused gathering. Governors from 40 states will attend, according to the NGA website. The RGA typically includes fundraisers, and is a showcase for the party’s rising stars, and the group typically funnels millions into gubernatorial races. Rauner, a millionaire financier before running for office, poured tens of millions from his personal fortune into his campaign and the mid-term legislative races, and it’s not clear he’ll need any boost from his fellow GOP chief executives. It’s also not clear how Trump could affect his bid for a second term. In 2018, Rauner will be one 27 or the 33 Republican governors making a bid for re-election, and one of five incumbent GOP governors leading states that Hillary Clinton won in 2016. Rauner did denounce Trump’s remarks in a video recorded by an Access Hollywood crew that were released in October, in which GOP nominee claimed to have pursued the affections of a married woman and to groping women. He has criticized the president’s executive order banning immigrants from seven Muslim-majority nations as “over broad,” but was dinged by Democrats for being out of state as demonstrators swarmed O’Hare Airport in January to protest the ban. In the weeks since, he has not staked out a clear position on immigration initiatives proposed by the administration, except to say that he would not deputize state police to enforce federal immigration laws. Rauner did offer support for Trump’s pick for Secretary of Education, Michigan philanthropist and school choice ideologue Betsy DeVos, during her contentious but ultimately successful confirmation process.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: As with the other governors, Rauner in Illinois said he is focusing on his state — or at least he’s trying to. He went to great lengths not to stake a clear position on Trump during the campaign — refusing to comment on the race, who he was voting for or even to say Trump’s name. Since the election, he has continued to avoid taking a clear position on the administration’s policies. His strategy is clearly intended to avoid alienating voters in Chicago, the suburbs and other urban areas who supported Hillary Clinton in November, or those in rural counties that went overwhelmingly for Trump. But avoidance also comes with some peril: Democrats, who control the Illinois Legislature, called the Republican governor cowardly for meeting with billionaire donors out of state while refugees were stranded at Chicago’s O’Hare airport after the president’s travel-banning executive order. Rauner already has a slim margin for error after a two-year budget stalemate has tanked his approval ratings.)

http://www.nwherald.com/2016/10/03/u-s-rep-randy-hultgren-talks-veterans-issues-trans-pacific-partnership-with-residents/avn9vdb/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A resident at the meeting said he had read that illegal immigrants get better health care than veterans. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has made such claims during his campaign, most recently during a Sept. 7 speech in Philadelphia. “Our veterans, in many cases, are being treated worse than illegal immigrants,” he said, according to national media reports. Hultgren said such a claim isn’t true. “I don’t think that’s true,” he said. “That illegal immigrants are getting better care than our veterans, I don’t think that’s true. I don’t know where that came from.” Hultgren said there have been some reforms, but there is “more that needs to happen.” He praised the VA for the experience he has had with his own father. “My dad’s a veteran, and so grateful for the VA,” he said. “Hines has been really good to him and also [James] Lovell [Federal Health Care Center] in North Chicago has been really great. And to me, that’s one of those that really is a model: a joint VA and DOD facility relationship with Lovell. But almost everything we’ve heard has been very positive. The quality of care is unbelievable. All the resources for our veterans are right there.”)

DUPAGE POLICY JOURNAL
— DuPage GOP hopes to keep converting Democrats through common-sense policies – Michael Carroll
http://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511077186-dupage-gop-hopes-to-keep-converting-democrats-through-common-sense-policies
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The DuPage County Republican Party sees opportunities to expand the party’s influence in 2017 since the blue tide that gave Democrat Hillary Clinton a 15-point margin of victory in the county’s polling numbers petered out down the ballot. “We’re pretty optimistic that Republicans are going to continue being elected,” county GOP Chairman Brian Krajewski told the DuPage Policy Journal. The party will be looking to build its base as it focuses on electing Republicans running in elections in nine townships in the spring, Krajewski said. Those offices include trustees, highway commissioner, clerk and supervisor. Generally, Illinois townships are responsible for maintaining roads and bridges, assessing local property taxes, and aiding the indigent. The DuPage townships consist of Wayne, Bloomingdale, Addison, Winfield, Milton, York, Naperville, Lisle and Downers Grove. Krajewski pointed to the county GOP’s showing in the November vote, when the party picked up another seat on the county governing board. Now the board is made up of 17 Republican members vs. one Democrat. “Residents here in DuPage are comfortable with the way things are being run,” Krajewski said. Though in county voting Republican Donald Trump finished behind Clinton in the November presidential race, a majority of county voters supported the GOP candidate for state controller, Leslie Geissler Munger, over Democrat Susana Mendoza, who won the statewide race. Republicans also prevailed in county offices – state’s attorney, circuit court clerk, county auditor, coroner and recorder – Krajewski said. Indeed, Democrats did not even field candidate in the state’s attorney and coroner race in DuPage, which is adjacent to Democrat-dominated Cook County. DuPage County’s success can also be seen in the population flow from the Chicago region into the county, according to Krajewski. People are drawn by the county’s low property taxes, good schools, low crime rate and emphasis on law enforcement, he said. “A lot of Democrats switch to the Republican Party once they move here,” Krajewski said. The county GOP will focus on getting its message out in the coming year while stressing that the state’s problems are long-term and did not start when a Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner was elected two years ago. The GOP-dominated county board has also put out its governing priorities in the coming year. These priorities include cutting the size and cost of local government by merging the Elections Department and the County Clerk’s Office and keeping the DuPage Convalescent Center operating so it can continue to serve 350 county residents. Fighting heroin addiction will also be a top priority. In 2016, the county Coroner’s Office reported that opioid-related deaths in the county numbered 78 – a 53 percent increase over the number of deaths reported in the previous year. The deaths involved heroin, fentanyl and mixtures of the two. The county will also lobby to restore state funding in support of county probation costs as well focusing on easing traffic congestion and protection against flooding. In addition, county board members want to extend surcharges on wireless services, which had been set to phase out on July 1. The surcharge helps to fund 911 responses countywide.)

Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and d) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)

GAO
— Learning Center Rolling Out New Mentoring Program  (DIERSEN: My GAO mentor hired me from IRS in 1980. In 1986, he succeeded in getting me a) assigned to audits of IRS and b) promoted to GS-13. But in 1987, my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing him to retire. From that point forward, my GAO career went downhill dramatically.  My IRS mentor promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974. But my Democrat IRS superiors succeeded in getting rid of him. From that point forward, my IRS career went downhill dramatically.)

— WHEATON MIDDLE SCHOOL STAFF MEET STUDENTS WITH PRO-REFUGEE SIGNS  (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, anti-Trumps hint/imply/argue/shout that Trump and Trump’s supporters are racists, sexist, bigots, and even worse things.  What percent of those involved in education anti-Trump?)
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2017/02/wheaton-middle-school-staff-meet-students-with-pro-refugee-signs.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Wheaton Illinois’ James Howard Monroe Middle School says it is “inspiring in everyone a passion to excel,” but parents were stunned to learn this morning that staff members met students with signs inspiring passions to react against the Trump Administration’s effort to protect American citizens. “We are not afraid,” signs held by staff members at the school’s entrance said Wednesday morning, and publicized the website, “WeWelcomerefugees.com,”  while others said “You all are welcome here.” “Your voice is direly needed in this defining, historic moment, to be part of a coalition of the faith community who are compelled to be the voice of Christ, and show support for refugees, immigrants and minorities who now fear how potential political changes may significantly, and detrimentally, upend their whole world,” the site the signs referenced says. The comments on the signs are similar to those that rose up over the weekend in protest of the Trump Administration, which placed a temporary travel ban on certain immigrants and refugees hoping to find solace in America. The Trump Administration clamped down on travelers from seven countries where terrorists are reportedly being cultivated and trained for destruction to Western Civilization. Bryan Buck, the school’s principal, emailed parents Wednesday morning that having taxpayer-funded school staff meeting 6th, 7th and 8th grade students with those signs “could be perceived as political activity.” No apology was issued, only explanation and defense for the staff members: “Monroe Parents, This morning as students were entering the building, there were several school staff members holding signage reading, “We are not afraid, wewelcomerefugees.com” and “You are all welcome here.” The intent behind this demonstration was to make sure that all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion or language, are welcome at our schools. I understand that this situation could be perceived as political activity. Please know that the true the intent was to show openness and support for all our students. Our school district and community represent an amazing cross-section of the world, and we strive to ensure that each student is included and has a place to learn, develop and succeed in our schools. Thank you again for your continued commitment and support of one another and our school. Bryan Buck, Principal  The website the signs promoted is sponsored by the following organizations:)

BOLINGBROOK PATCH
— Group Plans Protest Against Bolingbrook Mayor, Donald Trump  So far 5 people say they plan to protest the grand opening of the Claar/Bolingbrook First campaign headquarters. – Shannon Antinori
http://patch.com/illinois/bolingbrook/group-plans-protest-against-bolingbrook-mayor-donald-trump
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A grassroots group said it’s planning to protest a planned grand opening of the Bolingbrook First campaign headquarters on Monday, Feb. 6. A Facebook group called “Vote Roger Claar Out in 2017” is asking community members to become part of a physical and virtual protest via a “Protest Roger Claar and Donald Trump!” event. According to the event page, the group takes issue with “(Claar’s) high-dollar fundraiser in Bolingbrook for Donald Trump, his never ending support for him” and accuses the mayor of a “long list of questionable decisions for the village.” The long-serving mayor and the Bolingbrook First slate are seeking reelection in April. Candidates are: Claar, currently in his 30th year as mayor  Village Clerk Carol Penning, now in her seventh term  Trustee Mike Lawler, who has served on the board since 1995  Trustee candidate Shelton L. Watts, who was recently sworn in to fill a vacancy on the village board  Trustee Maria A. Zarate, elected in 2013  A grand opening at the Bolingbrook First campaign headquarters, 128 E. Boughton Road, is slated for 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6. “Bring your friends and family to meet and mingle with the candidates, and feel free to pick up a yard sign while you’re at it,” the Facebook event page for the grand opening said. “We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.” Reached via Facebook, the organizers of the protest said they did wish to be identified, but stated that the page is not run by members of the Bolingbrook First opponents “Bolingbrook United.” “For various reasons we have kept our identities confidential – including to avoid potential targeting from the mayor in retribution for opposing him publicly,” the group told Patch. As of Monday afternoon, 20 people had indicated they are “interested” in the Feb. 6 demonstration while five have marked themselves as “going.”  “It’s also a ‘virtual’ protest,” the group said. “We want not only people to show up in person but if they are unable to do so then to simply mark that they are ‘interested’ in the event.” Claar did not immediately respond to an email from Patch on Monday afternoon. While it denied affiliation with Bolingbrook United, the protest group did say it supports the slate’s mayoral candidate, current Will County board member Jackie Traynere, saying it is looking for a “breath of fresh air.” The group also said it backs the rest of the Bolingbrook United slate of labor attorney Jaime Olson for village clerk and trustee candidates Robert Jaskiewicz, owner of a business lending firm; Mary Helen Reyna, owner of a firm that specializes in immigration law; and Terri Ransom, an IT consultant. “The reality in Bolingbrook is that the same man has been in office for over 30 years and for at least the last 16 years there has been no other candidate’s name on the actual ballot and we desperately need a change,” the group told Patch in an email. “(Claar’s) His failure to distance himself from Trump’s actions over the past few days against Muslims is further evidence of the fact that he’s lost touch with our diverse community.”)

NBC NEWS
— Trump Signs Executive Order to Curtail Regulations – ANDREW RAFFERTY (DIERSEN: My Democrat superiors in the federal government relied on “regulations” to take adverse actions against me.  My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests.)
