— Who are the conservative leaders in Illinois, in your county, in your township/ward, and in your municipality? How many and which Republican activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, and political consultants in Illinois read their emails? During the last week, last month, and last year, what have they written in support of the traditional family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) and other planks in the Republican Party platform and the Illinois Republican Party platform? What have they written in support of the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling? If conservative leaders in Illinois were to meet to discuss actions to take concerning Rauner/Sanguinetti, which conservative leaders would you want to participate in that meeting and why? My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes dismiss/belittle/badmouth the fact I have been the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000 and a Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1999. They dismiss/belittle/badmouth a) my knowledge of the important conservative leaders in Illinois; b) my knowledge of the important Republican activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, major donors, and political consultants in Illinois; and c) my enhanced knowledge of Brady, Breen, Ives, Proft, Sanguinetti, etc. They stress that I am no longer a TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) webmaster, Illinois Center Right Coalition (ICRC) Steering Committee (SC) member, American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member, GAO employee, etc. They stress that lost 69 to 13 when I ran for MTRCC Treasurer in 2004 in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall. They stress that an ICRC SC member tried to get ICRC to censure me because of my GOPUSA ILLLINOIS emails at ICRC’s 2006 Annual Convention in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall.  My critics/opponents a) are moral relativists who believe that their end justifies their means, b) are disciples of Saul Alinsky, and c) focus on destroying individuals like me, organizations like TAPROOT, companies, governments, etc. that they cannot manipulate/dominate. – Dave Diersen

(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton says the state Republican party, criticized in recent months for its internal squabbles, is banding together in opposition to GOP Gov. Bruce Rauner’s approval of an abortion funding measure last month. “Certainly, the party’s fractured, but when I talk to my colleagues, they’re not supporting Rauner, not passing his petitions,” Ives says. “We actually seem to be uniting against the signing of this bill.” Ives might be on to something. The Illinois Republican congressional delegation released a joint statement describing Rauner’s signing of the measure, which expands taxpayer funding of abortions and ensures the procedure remains legal in Illinois, as one that “let down taxpayers and the unborn.” He’s also angered former allies, including conservative radio host Dan Proft, who runs a political action committee that has in the past spent millions supporting candidates that have backed Rauner’s agenda. The conservative Illinois Policy Institute, whose former head exited as Rauner’s chief of staff on Friday, deemed the governor “Benedict Rauner” over the abortion bill. Possible opponents? Ives, whose name’s been floated as a possible Rauner opponent, isn’t committing to an election bid so far. Neither is state Rep. Peter Breen of Lombard, a Thomas More Society attorney who says he refuses to support Rauner after the governor signed the abortion bill. State Sen. Bill Brady, who ran with a socially conservative platform as his party’s gubernatorial nominee three times, most recently in 2014, also wouldn’t say if he’s in or out. Proft didn’t return messages seeking comment. Rauner, for his part, has been leaving voicemails for Republican legislators with the message that the abortion issue is “very emotional, very difficult.” He says he’s pro-choice, but hopes the party can “move past these issues and respectfully agree to disagree” and focus on jobs, tax reduction, higher family incomes, school choice, political reforms and ethics reforms “so we can win and become the majority party again.”)

Bruce Rauner faces relentless criticism from members of his own party over his signing of a bill that expands the public funding of abortion, we were tipped to a curious event promoted on the Illinois Republican Party web site. The site listed an event in Decatur scheduled for this evening featuring David Barton, an Evangelical Christian speaker/author/activist, whom the Southern Law Poverty Center has described as “anti-gay and antigovernment.” Screenshot here. The Illinois Family Institute coordinated the event. Talk about moving from one extreme to the other. Was the state party, almost entirely funded by Rauner, taking a sharp right turn to try to balance out Rauner’s HB40 signature? When we posed the question to Republican Party spokesman Aaron DeGroot, the post was almost immediately pulled down from the site. “This event was posted in error and has been removed,” DeGroot said in an emailed response. “The party website’s calendar is a local party-driven, community calendar that contains events hosted by the Illinois Republican Party, Republican lawmakers, county Republican central committees, and other local Republican organizations. Events that do not fall under those categories do not belong on the calendar and will be removed.” DeGroot further explained: “Inclusion of an event on the ILGOP community calendar should not be interpreted as an endorsement from the state party of that event, organization, or those affiliated with the event. Rather, the calendar is meant to be a resource for local Republican organizations to be aware of Republican-affiliated events occurring in their areas.” More from the Southern Poverty Law Center: “A prolific propagandist, Barton has long promoted the canard that our Founding Fathers never intended the separation of church and state but rather sought to construct a Christian nation,” says a write-up of Barton by the Southern Law Poverty Center. “His Texas-based group, WallBuilders, sells an abundant bounty of books and DVDs pushing Barton’s fun-house vision of religious patriotism. And this distorted message has sold well.” So who posted it on the web site? We asked Illinois Family Institute’s David E. Smith. “Wait, really? It was on the Republican Party web site?” Smith chuckled over the phone. “It doesn’t surprise me that Central Illinois folks are kind of excited about that and maybe someone in web maintenance thought it would be a good event. But somebody didn’t get the memo — you don’t promote stuff from the Illinois Family Institute on the Republican Party website.” Smith said he views the party apparatus as “leftist” and called Republicans who embrace abortion rights “RINOs.” He further said Barton was invited as a historian and author to talk about Christian values. He took issue with a depiction of Barton as anti-gay. “We are Christians and so is David Barton. We believe every human being is made in the image of God … we do love our LGBTQ-I-A-whatever, neighbors. But we love them enough to tell them that this is not how God has designed you. We don’t deny there is such a thing as same-sex attraction. I do believe, however, that you can fight that. That you can overcome it. I do know a few ex-homosexuals.” Hoooo boy. And now we know why the post was taken down. However, one cached version of the GOP website from July shows the event, so it was up there for months. This all led to another question — how much independence can a state party that’s now divided have from Rauner, given that the governor is solidly in support of abortion rights — and that he has bankrolled the Illinois Republican Party? Will the party web site promote events opposing abortion? DeGroot: “The Illinois Republican Party will post pro-life events that are affiliated with an official Republican organization on our community calendar.”)

During the mid-1990s, I recruited Jim to speak at an Association of Government Accountants Chicago Chapter meeting. We were fellow Milton Township Republican Precinct Committeemen. The Daily Herald reported that Jim attended a July 5, 2003 picnic the Prairie Path Park in my precinct that I had organized for the residents of my precinct and the residents of the precincts to the east and west. Attendees got to meet the five announced Republican candidates for U.S. Senate – John Cox, Chirinjeev Kathuria, Andy McKenna, Jim Oberweis, and Jack Ryan. Cox brought Jays Potato Chips. Oberweis brought ice cream. The 200+ attendees included now Congressman Randy Hultgren. Jack Ryan won the primary, but withdrew. His replacement, Alan Keyes lost to Barack Obama. Jim served as the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) Treasurer 1998-2004. Peter Breen, R-District 48, said the governor not only lied to voters and Republican lawmakers but also Chicago’s Cardinal Blasé Cupich. “I mean, you lied to a priest,” Mr. Breen told a local radio station. “This guy is done.” Gov. Rauner defeated the deeply-unpopular incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn in 2014 by a 50.3% to 46.4% margin. Especially after Rauner signed a law Thursday to have Medicaid pay for abortions, he is “unelectable as a Republican,” she said. . .Ives’ name is being thrown about on radio, social media and print as a strong primary challenger to Rauner who would draw support from outraged social conservatives. “That’s very flattering … but there’s been no decision on my part,” Ives said. She was one of many Republican legislators who publicly campaigned for Rauner’s “Turnaround Agenda,” which dealt with money-related matters such as workers’ compensation and pensions. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

On Good Friday his office announced that he would veto HB 40, which publicly funds abortions, adds abortion to the Illinois insurance plan for employees, and keeps abortion until live birth the law of the land in Illinois even if Roe v. Wade is overturned! This is a drastic change to longstanding Illinois policy! For years Illinois has not paid for abortions through tax-payer funding except for the life of the mother. Illinois citizens have never had to pay for abortions through the state employee health care plans. Surveys clearly show that 70-80% of Illinois citizens do not belief taxpayers should fund abortions. This legislation will require Illinois taxpayers somewhere around $20 million to pay to end the lives of thousands of innocent unborn children. By signing HB 40, Governor Rauner has gone completely against the Illinois Republican Party platform. Please continue to pray for Illinois, our governor, our legislators.
