DACA supporters implied that applicants were mostly Hispanic and that as citizens of distressed republics a short distance away from the wealthy United States, their violation of our immigration laws was somehow understandable. Program applicants were also portrayed as brilliant valedictorians and proud members of the military. From the outset, that narrative rang hollow. In a column for the Washington Post, Mickey Kaus described it as public-relations-style “hooey.” Here’s why. Many of the DACA “kids” were not brought here as young children. They entered the U.S. illegally as teenagers. A large number of DACA applicants weren’t “brought” here at all. They crossed the border themselves. Over 2,000 individuals approved for DACA had their status terminated for criminal activity ranging from alien smuggling to sexual assault. That number is still growing. Fewer than 900 DACA recipients – or slightly more than one-tenth of one percent of the total DACA population – joined the military. New data released by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) definitively establishes that most of the DACA narrative is false. Particularly overblown are claims that deported DACA recipients would inevitably be strangers in a strange land. USCIS lists 149 countries of origin for DACA applicants. English is the national language in at least 26 of those countries. Those include the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. A large number of applicants are from India, Hong Kong and the Philippines, where there are enormous English-speaking communities. Other statistics also undermine claims that the United States must “take care of the DACAs” or condemn them to a life of isolation and poverty.)

Bruce Rauner and his Illinois Turnaround PAC donated $6 million to DAN PROFT and Liberty Principles PAC. Illinois Policy Institute is a private tax-exempt group and it does not reveal its donors. JOHN TILLMAN of Illinois Policy Institute has acknowledged receiving $625,000 from Bruce Rauner between 2009 and 2014. Tillman has never disclosed the millions in donations his other non-profit groups receive from Rauner and his donors. REPUBLICANS HAVEN’T GIVEN RAUNER A DIME OF HIS MONEY BACK None of the Republicans mentioned above have given any of the money Rauner donated to them back since his vote on HB40 to begin taxpayer-funded abortion in Illinois and none of them are disclosing how much money they have received in total from the Governor since they helped him win election. Rauner, who was well known as a major donor to Planned Parenthood prior to his election, is the first U.S. Governor in history to force taxpayers to fund abortions. She’s been a practicing attorney ever since and has run for the 13th Congressional District seat in Illinois. “I see a state government that’s out of control,” Ms. Harold said. “I see a state government that’s not accountable to the rule of law, and I want to see an Attorney General’s office that works for the people. Were you unaware that you, as a citizen, have the same rights in the United States of America as an illegal alien? These are among the newly declared “rights” Democrats have bestowed on people through the power of simply saying they exist. The problem is this concept is fundamentally un-American. Our rights as Americans are not granted to us by the government. Our government is empowered by us on the condition it does not infringe upon the rights with which we were born. The Founding Fathers were brilliant in that they wrote the Constitution to limit government, not citizens. The First Amendment, for example, is explicit in how it starts, “Congress shall make no law…” The rights to free speech, freedom of religion, the press, assembly, etc., are not granted by the Constitution, they are protected from government by it. The whole of the Bill of Rights is written the same way, “Shall not be infringed,” etc. Since the government is not granting those individual rights – we were born with them – it can’t take them away. For liberal progressives, this concept is a threat – they prefer the government being not only the protector of rights, but the decider of what is and is not a right. What they may not realize is that sticking to “just the facts,” or merely the “who, what, when, where, and why,” makes for an interminably hollow story, like a naked skeleton. It lacks context, flavor, understanding based on research and knowledge. A “just the facts” story is both boring to read and a dereliction of a journalist’s duty to go beyond the “5 Ws,” with insight, perspectives, and things that become known during the newsgathering that should not be unknown for the sake of appearing purely objective.)

Claiming it was supported by “the immigration community” in addition to the Illinois Sheriff’s Association and businesses, Rauner told WBEZ, Chicago’s FM public radio channel, that SB31 “seems very reasonable.” Rauner’s office did not respond to Breitbart News’s request to clarify to whom “the immigration community” referred. The patriotic immigration reform group Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) strongly criticized SB31 in an interview with conservative site Illinois Review. Meanwhile, the Chicago chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and open-borders groups like the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, have urged Rauner to sign the bill. SB31 does not concern the handling of immigrants or refugees, but illegal aliens, who are neither. Harmlessly titled the “Illinois Trust Act,” SB31 prohibits all Illinois state and local law enforcement from complying with federal agents’ “immigration detainer” orders. In effect, it will be illegal under the act for police in Illinois keep someone who federal agents tell them is an illegal alien in custody long enough for them to arrive and enforce immigration laws. Instead, they will be compelled to release illegal aliens back onto the street when they have no non-immigration-related reason to keep them locked up. The bill is similar to provisions in effect in the so-called “sanctuary state” of California. “It does not tie law enforcement’s hands. It actually encourages between local law enforcement and federal immigration facilities,” Rauner said, indicating he would make up his mind on whether to sign it in the next few days. Rauner’s office confirmed to Breitbart News Monday that the governor has yet to reach a final decision on SB31. One Illinois immigration hawk was unconvinced. “I think the biggest question Illinois taxpayers have for Governor Rauner and any legislator who would want to pass this bill is, ‘Does making it easier for illegal aliens to stay in Illinois improve the lives of Illinois residents?’” former Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress and Illinois Minutemen-founder Rosanna Pulido told Breitbart News. She explained: “We already spend 4.5 Billion dollars a year for free services for illegal aliens. By signing this Bill, SB 31, Rauner will create an even stronger magnet for illegal aliens who are looking not to be apprehended by the law. We will meet with the governor downstate or upstate before the August 28th deadline for a veto.” At the launch of Advocates for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime (AVIAC) in June, McCann expressed his frustration with the mainstream media’s constant focus on sympathetic stories about illegal immigrants and not on Americans who are harmed by so-called sanctuary policies. “We get no support … We don’t get coverage,” he told Breitbart News then.
