— 5:00 PM, Tuesday, August 6, 2019, is the filing deadline for applications to be appointed to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy. Sadly, Wheaton’s policy is to not disclose the names of the applicants or information about them, but instead, just the number of applications received. So far, Wheaton has received 30 requests for applications, 4 complete applications, and 1 incomplete application. So far, to my knowledge, none of the applicants has publicly announced that they have filed. Because of that, I will be filing. In my opinion, not only Wheaton’s West District residents, but all of Wheaton’s residents should know who the applicants are before the filing deadline.
