NEW YORK TIMES
— Missing From Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 Surge: Democratic Endorsements Despite Ms. Warren’s upward momentum in polls and fund-raising, she lacks the support of a single governor, big-city mayor or fellow senator outside Massachusetts. – Jonathan Martin (DIERSEN: An obvious question is which of those who endorsed Sanguinetti will now endorse Ives or Kinzler. An obvious question is will Sanguinetti endorse Ives or Kinzler. Jim Ryan supporters continue to blame Pat O’Malley supporters Ryan’s losing to Blagojevich in 2002.)

JOURNAL STANDARD
— FROM THE MAY 11, 2013 ARTICLE: “In 2002, Sen. Pat O’Malley staged a vicious primary campaign for governor against eventual GOP nominee Jim Ryan, who was the attorney general. Conservative O’Malley refused to endorse the more moderate Ryan in the general election campaign, and Ryan was beaten by Democrat Rod Blagojevich, who is doing time in a federal penitentiary on a corruption conviction. “If O’Malley hadn’t attacked Ryan so viciously in the primary, Ryan could have made up the five points by which he lost and Illinois would have looked much different today,” Syverson said.”

ALTON DAILY NEWS
— Challenges Anticipated with Legal Weed – Doug Jenkins (DIERSEN: QUESTIONS TO ASK CANDIDATES: Have you ever used recreational weed? If so, exactly when and exactly how much? If so, why did you disrespect the rule of law? Are you going to use recreational weed when it is legal? If so, exactly how often and exactly how much? What do you say to people who impair themselves? Have you ever driven a vehicle while you were dunk or incapacitated? If so, exactly when? If so, why did you disrespect the rule of law? What do you say to people who impair themselves?)
http://altondailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=17&id=292314#.XaRSrL5_OM8
(FROM THE ARTICLE: While there are established, accepted and legally binding blood alcohol levels when determining when someone is drunk or incapacitated, no such tests exist to see if you are high on marijuana. With recreational weed becoming legal in Illinois next year, that has employers trying to figure out policy on how to address its use. A spokesman from OSF Healthcare outlines some of the challenges. Troy Overholt, Vice President for Occupational Health at OSF HealthCare admits to employers that while it may be risky and has yet to be challenged in court, monitoring for marijuana impairment in an employee may need to be less scientific and more observational. There is no scientifically reliable way to measure for marijuana intoxication. THC is stored in fat cells, so the length of time it’s in your system is not a blood test level. So, he says you could test high today from use weeks or months ago, and it depends greatly on frequency and the amount of use.)

My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes stress that there is a 22+ year gap in my resume. They stress that my GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $19,568 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.)

MARKET WATCH
— Women still get fired for being pregnant, as Elizabeth Warren says she was in 1971 Walmart, UPS and other major employers have faced charges of mistreating pregnant workers – Leslie Albrecht (DIERSEN: In 1971, when I was 22 years old, Firestone Stores fired me because I accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile. But Oldsmobile withdrew that job offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. Of course, to force an employee to retire is to fire that employee. In 1997, when I was 49 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors forced me retire, that is, they fired me. They fired me a) because I was an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, b) because I had complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, c) because I refused to help them get rid of their employees who were Republican White, male, and/or non-veteran because they had not made GS-13 (currently $98,198) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $116,040) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $136,495) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $165,500) by age 40, and d) because many of my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates despised many of my demographics including my being Republican, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, White, male, older, non-poor, gun owner, 100% German American, draft avoider, and my ancestors have been in America since 1844.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: You might have been asked recently to sign a petition to put a candidate on the ballot in 2020. It’s that season and, though a truism, if good people don’t run for office, democracy doesn’t work. You ought to try running. Here’s how. . .There are four resources in every campaign: people, skill, money and time. Every candidate has at least some of one or more of those resources. . .Today, the guidance would be to build your friends on Facebook. Your friends become volunteers, funders and word-spreaders — your “organization.” Don’t expect any help from your local political party organization, which is likely on life support. You and your friends also have skills, maybe at running a small business, which is basically what a campaign is about — setting up a small business that lasts about one year. You write a campaign plan, much like a business plan. In the plan, you establish a vote-total goal and where those votes are located; how to reach them; how much it will cost, and how to raise the requisite amount. Depending upon the office you seek, your plan might simply be in your head, or in a thick three-ring binder. But there has to be a plan. Political consultant Steve Shearer of Peoria observes that 90 percent of the candidates who spend more money than their opponents win. So, money is important, though obviously not controlling in all cases. . .The Illinois State Board of Elections website offers a complete Candidate’s Guide, which walks you through the filing requirements. The key to success, from Lincoln’s day to the present, is effective strategy (the plan), not tactics (specific tasks). . .Steve says winning is about strategy, message and image. Strategy is based on such factors as analysis of recent voting returns, the issues that move voters in your constituency, both candidates’ (including the opponent) strengths and weaknesses. From that comes the plan to achieve your vote-total goal.)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/when-god-guides-your-investment-portfolio-11570811305
(FROM THE ARTICLE: What would Jesus buy? That question is spreading in the investing world, as evangelicals and other Christians seek investment management and financial planning to match their interpretation of biblical principles. The latest sign of the rise of faith-based investing was the launch of the Inspire International ESG exchange-traded fund on Sept. 30. Its ticker symbol? WWJD, short for the popular expression “What would Jesus do?” Many socially responsible investors favor companies that recruit LGBT workers or donate to Planned Parenthood and the like. By contrast, biblically responsible investors shun companies that profit from or support abortion, pornography, gambling, or LGBT issues. No matter what you believe or how you invest, the advent of this approach highlights the promise and perils of socially responsible investing in general: You can salve your conscience, or you can earn higher returns. It isn’t likely you can do both. Biblically responsible investing, or BRI, is booming as investment managers who are losing assets to index funds strive to find new niches.)

— 9 Things About Public Relations They Didn’t Teach You in College – Arthur Solomon (DIERSEN: Of course, I should sue my critics/opponents who hint/imply/argue/shout that I do not honor embargo requests, off-the-record requests, etc.)
https://www.prnewsonline.com/journalists-media-relations
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Embargo Just because a PR firm distributes a press release with the words “Embargoed Until” atop it doesn’t mean that a reporter will honor it. Most will, but it’s always good to have someone speak to the journalist and request she agree to honor the embargo. Scientific studies sent to specific editors are an exception. The same is true for releases saying “For Release After.” PR pros should know that once a release is distributed, when it is used is up to editors. Off-the Record You can tell a media member that something is “off-the-record,” but it doesn’t mean a reporter considers it so. Establish off-the-record ground rules upfront. Specifically, do so prior to conveying information you want kept off-the-record. ‘If you don’t want it reported, don’t say it’ is the advice I always give to executives before interviews or when they socialize with the media. Recall Madeleine Westerhout, President Trump’s personal assistant, who “quit” or was fired after making comments during a dinner. The event supposedly was off-the-record.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Candidates, elected officials, and party leaders who attended the outstanding Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) meeting Wednesday evening, October 9, 2019, at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream included Almiron, Corrigan, Falbo, Grant, Holder, Holan, Ives, Kachiroubas, Keller, Kinzler, Larsen, LeVan, McCluskey, McGowen, Molitor, Monino, Nathwani, Tatro, Veenstra, Whelan, and Zay. Many of the aforesaid spoke. Other meeting attendees included Baker, Carlson, Cherry, Cooper, Dangelo, Fitzgerald, Lofgren, McCarthy, Ryan, Shaw, Smith, Slinger, and Tatro. I should poll MTRCC members who do not read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails and ask them why they do not read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Where pot is sold, it brings down everything and everyone around it. How close is a “Disproportionately Impacted Area” (DIA) to where you live or work? Illinois Democrats want pot shops to open up in DIAs to revitalize those areas. Wheaton is the DuPage County Seat. The Democrats who run the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (IDCEO) have outrageously designated western Wheaton as being a DIA, that is, an area that has high rates of arrest, conviction, and incarceration related to cannabis as well as poverty and unemployment. Needless-to-say, that must be a mistake. While Wheaton has banned the sale of pot, the Democrats who run Illinois may very well vote to allow pot shops in DIAs thereby overriding Wheaton’s ban. I ask the following and everyone else who has an interest in Wheaton to ask the IDCEO to immediately rescind its DIA designation: Wheaton Mayor and City Council members, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Milton Township officers and trustees, DuPage County Board Chairman and County Board members, and federal and Illinois officials who represent or seek to represent any part of Wheaton.

According to the IDCEO, it designates a census tract as being a DIA if the area 1) has a poverty rate of at least 20%, 2) has 75% or more of its children participate in the federal free lunch program, 3) has an average unemployment rate that is more than 120% of the national average for a period of at least 2 consecutive calendar years, 4) has at least 20% of its households receive assistance under the supplemental nutrition assistance program, or 5) has high rates of arrest, conviction, and incarceration related to the sale, possession, use, cultivation, manufacture, or transport of cannabis.

According to the IDCEO, it designated Census Tract 8426.04 in western Wheaton (https://censusreporter.org/profiles/14000US17043842604-census-tract-842604-dupage-il/  and https://www.chicagocityscape.com/maps/index.php?place=censustract-17043842604) as a DIA because a) according to Illinois Department of Employment Security data, it had an average unemployment rate over the last two calendar years that exceeded the national average over that time period by more than 20% and b) because the per-capita rate of parolees residing in the area who had been imprisoned for cannabis offenses exceeded the cutoff for a high imprisonment rate. According to the IDCEO, “Unemployment rate data is from Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). Data on parolees is from Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). Per-capita rate is determined using census tract population from the 2013-2017 American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year Estimates.” From what I see, one or both of the aforesaid must be a mistake. If Census Tract 8426.04 in western Wheaton as a DIA, than all of Illinois is a DIA.

I have asked the IDCEO to provide me ASAP with the specific sources of the following data concerning Census Tract 8426.04: “According to IDES data, it had an average unemployment rate over the last two calendar years that exceeded the national average over that time period by more than 20%” and “The per-capita rate of parolees residing in the area who had been imprisoned for cannabis offenses exceeded the cutoff for a high imprisonment rate.”

Again, I ask the following and everyone else who has an interest in Wheaton to ask the IDCEO to immediately rescind its DIA designation: Wheaton Mayor and City Council members, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Milton Township officers and trustees, DuPage County Board Chairman and County Board members, and federal and Illinois officials who represent or seek to represent any part of Wheaton.

— What is the Purpose of the GOP? – Richard Moss
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/10/what_is_the_purpose_of_the_gop.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Our “one party” system in Washington remains profoundly corrupt and self-serving. It consists of career politicians from both parties, special interests, donors, and lobbyists, all of whom agree on one thing: growing the size of government. The Republican Party, in its budgeting and voting, is a left-of-center party; it is, as I often referred to it as, the Republican wing of the Democratic Party. With an increasingly Marxist Democratic Party, and no serious conservative opposition from “soft-progressive” Republicans, the trajectory of the nation is all to the left: more spending, more programs, more socialism, and ultimately more tyranny.)

Needless-to-say, that must be a mistake. I ask the following and everyone else who has an interest in Wheaton to ask the IDCEO to immediately rescind its DIA designation: Wheaton Mayor and City Council members, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Milton Township officers and trustees, DuPage County Board Chairman and County Board members, and federal and Illinois officials who represent or seek to represent any part of Wheaton.)

They have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted a) that instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a veteran in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a veteran could have my job, c) that instead of me, IRS should have hired a veteran in 1971, d) that instead of me, IRS should have promoted veterans in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) that instead of me, GAO should have hired a veteran in 1980, f) that instead of me, GAO should have promoted a veteran in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a veteran could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

— Pot Bill Tokes the Line on Public Safety – Tony Perkins
https://patriotpost.us/opinion/65810-pot-bill-tokes-the-line-on-public-safety-2019-10-01
(FROM THE ARTICLE: And yet, last Wednesday, in the U.S. House, more than 300 members of Congress put their names behind a bill that would help legitimize a business that’s destroying and endangering lives. It was the first ever vote on a stand-alone cannabis bill, not that the name would have told you so. The SAFE Banking Act, one of the more ridiculously named pieces of legislation in the Democratic House, would make it easier for marijuana companies to “open checking accounts and get business loans.” Pot companies argue that it would make the entire market safer, since they tend to operate on a “cash-only basis” or pay sky-high fees to the banks who are willing to work with them. Amazingly, 321 members of Congress (including 91 Republicans) fell for this logic, which encourages banks to get involved in the sale of what the federal government still considers an illegal substance.)

WALL STREET JOURNAL
— With Facebook’s Coming News Tab, Only Some Will Get Paid Social-media giant plans to pay about a quarter of news organizations whose content will be featured – Lukas I. Alpert and Sahil Patel (DIERSEN: GOPUSA ILLINOIS email subscriptions are worth at least $1,000 a year. GOPUSA ILLINOIS come out each and every morning. Since 2004, they have included links to more than 347,000 articles and information on many upcoming events.)
https://www.wsj.com/articles/with-facebooks-coming-news-tab-only-some-will-get-paid-11569852600
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The licensing fees Facebook is offering range as high as $3 million a year for national news outlets to several hundred thousand dollars for regional publications, they said. The deals would be for three years. Facebook plans to expand the number of publishers included in the program as the product develops, the people said. The feed will become more customizable and individually targeted, and will eventually include links from Facebook’s local-news project “Today In.” Facebook will highlight only publishers that meet the criteria of its news page index, which requires sites to focus on news reporting and bars those that repeatedly share misinformation and bombard readers with advertising. But the company, which has been accused of bias by conservatives in the past, has been mindful to include a diversity of viewpoints among the outlets that will be featured, one person said. For example, while stories from Infowars won’t be included, stories from Breitbart might appear, this person said. “We’ve been working closely with news organizations to get this right by emphasizing original reporting and making it much easier to find the most relevant news on Facebook,” said Campbell Brown, Facebook’s vice president of global news partnerships. Headlines appearing in Facebook’s news section will be chosen in some cases by a team of editors and in others by the company’s algorithm, people familiar with the matter said. The “Top News” section, which will feature about 10 headlines, will be entirely curated by human editors. News in subsections, such as sports or entertainment, and a “suggested for you” section, will be selected by algorithm. The feed won’t include any advertising and all stories will direct readers to the publishers’ own websites, the people said. Facebook’s curators will use a detailed list of criteria for which stories to highlight, including promoting outlets that were the first to report the news, the people said. Stories with named sources might also be given priority to those that rely on anonymous sources. Facebook is looking to expand its team of curators to about 25 people, with some based in London, to work under Anne Kornblut, a Pulitzer Prize winner who joined Facebook in 2015 after stints at the Washington Post, New York Times and Boston Globe, the people said.)
— Facebook to Exempt Opinion and Satire From Fact-Checking – Jeff Horwitz (DIERSEN: What qualifications do my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have to be fact checkers? While I worked for GAO 1980-1997, the last 11 years of which at GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $98,198-$127,654, I increasingly worked as a referencer, that is, as a fact checker. That work required assuring the accuracy and support for each and every word, number, table, graph, chart, conclusion, opinion, and recommendation in GAO reports. I worked for IRS 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $82,279-$93,592. My other fact checking qualifications include my becoming a Forensic Accountant in 1997, Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, licensed CPA in 1981, Certified Internal Auditor in 1981, and CPA in 1979.)
