— Depression, isolation and substance use all are up. Are Illinois teens OK? Back in the good old days, back when I was in high school in the 1960s, I could be optimistic about earning a college degree even though no one saw me as being college material. Neither of my parents attended college. My father was only the first of my ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. I could not run because I had a bone disease, my vision could not be corrected to 20/20, and I had partial red/green color blindness. During my junior and senior years, I spent my weekday evenings and Saturdays and full-time during the summer in between washing dishes for the minimum wage. My ACT score was only 24. I only just barely made it into the upper 20% of my graduating class. Nevertheless, I got accepted by UIC.

According to Wandreeka McBride, chief of staff to Rep. Further regulation may be necessary to ensure that underwriting practices are both fair and transparent,” McBride told AM Best.)

— Is There Any Way to Resuscitate the Seventh Amendment Right to Jury Trial? Law professor Suja Thomas discusses why precious few cases ever make it to a jury and how this trend could be reversed. Have you been denied due process? I have. Four times courts denied my 7th Amendment rights. I should write about that.
https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/there-any-way-resuscitate-seventh-amendment-right-jury-trial
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Amendment VII: In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law. The American Bar Association commissioned a four-year study in 2016 to examine why there are so few federal civil jury trials in the United States. According to its findings, “The percentage of federal lawsuits decided by jury trial dropped from 5.5 percent in 1962 to 0.8 percent in 2013. The percentage of federal criminal cases decided by jury trial dropped from 8.2 percent in 1962 to 3.6 percent by 2013.” The reasons for the decline aren’t hard to discern: jury trials are less predictable, slower, and more expensive for civil litigants. While lawyers and judges say the benefits of jury trials outweigh their costs, they aren’t the ones spending the money to litigate their civil claims. No responsible attorney should ever promise a client that they will win at trial or recommend that a client not at least try to negotiate in good faith to reach a settlement short of trial. Yet there still must be a role for the jury in our legal system. There still must be a way for a litigant to get a jury of peers to render judgment in a dispute. The framers of the Constitution understood this, or at least tried to. One of the least controversial components of the Bill of Rights is the Seventh Amendment’s guarantee of a right to a federal civil jury trial.)

— Democrat leaders say that a new IRS program, Direct File, makes tax filing free and more efficient, but that Musk and DOGE may get rid of it anyway. (COMMENT: If you are a federal employee, and especially if you are an IRS employee, unofficially, if not officially, IRS audits all your returns. I was a federal employee 1966-1969 and 1971-1997 and I was an IRS employee 1971-1980. I started deducting my graduate business and accounting courses in 1972 and IRS had no problems with those deductions. But notwithstanding that, to get rid of me because I had complained about their political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination, my Democrat IRS superiors disallowed my education deductions in 1978. They outrageously, disgustingly, and falsely argued that the courses I deducted did not relate to my job duties, did not help maintain or improve my job skills, were taken by me to get a job in the private sector, and qualified me for a new trade or business. They ignored my IRS position descriptions, my graduate school applications, and that my IRS employee manual encouraged me to take those courses. The aforesaid is a big example of how the Democrats who run the federal government can and do use IRS to harm Republicans.)

— The sheriff who wants to be governor
https://www.politico.com/newsletters/illinois-playbook/2025/02/28/the-sheriff-who-wants-to-be-governor-00206652
(FROM THE ARTICLE: AND SO IT BEGINS: DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick took the low-key approach to roll out his announcement that he’s running for the Republican nomination for governor in 2026. It was a message on Facebook. And it created plenty of buzz. Mendrick’s been receiving calls and emails ever since, including donation offers. It’s still in the works. Mendrick doesn’t even have a campaign manager yet. His wife, a psychiatric nurse, filled the role in his two bids for sheriff, “but this will be too big for her to do alone so we’re going to figure all that out this weekend,” he said in an interview with your Playbook host. Mendrick doesn’t have Ken Griffin or Dan Proft working behind the scenes for him. And didn’t even think to call Republican Chair Kathy Salvi before he made his announcement. “I did not plan on running for sure,” Mendrick said. He made the surprise move after choosing not to leave Illinois because he didn’t like how it’s being run. He’s now staying put in Woodridge after his 25-year-old son said he wasn’t budging. Mendrick and his wife also have a 22-year-old son with autism and are active in the disability community, he said. His campaign should be taken seriously, according to a GOP insider we talked to. Mendrick has been a police officer since 1996, following in the footsteps of his father. He’s been sheriff since 2018. Now, instead of retiring outright, he’s going to enter the state’s biggest political ring: the governor’s race. It doesn’t scare him. Mendrick currently oversees the county-wide correctional facility, where he says he sees first-hand how crime and immigration has challenged the state. Mendrick is focused on the SAFE-T Act. He disagrees with letting potential offenders out on bail instead of letting them clean up their addictions and get mental health assistance in jail. “I do believe that we’re doing God’s work,” he said. The sheriff opposes the state’s TRUST Act, which makes Illinois a sanctuary state. He calls it an “unfunded mandate” that prompts new immigrants from all over the country to move to Illinois, putting a strain on services. As for the state budget, Mendrick says, “I very much believe everything should be done within our economic footprint. You should never go outside what you can afford.” His politics: “I’m a Republican with a lot of conservative values,” Mendrick said, adding he doesn’t want to be labeled in a political way, though his social media posts suggest he leans far right. “It’s hard to be a slave to the politics,” he said. “It’s just about doing the right thing.” Mendrick is the first Republican officially in the race, but there will be others. Aaron Del Mar, a 2022 lieutenant governor candidate, is mulling a bid. Also mulling: Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker has yet to announce whether he’ll run for a third term in 2026 — and/or if he’ll make a run for president in 2028.)

Back then, as a 25-year-old GS-11 (currently $82,655/year) IRS Revenue Officer, I supervised all of the IRS employees, which included a rotating staff of about 90 IRS Revenue Agent trainees, in IRS’s new downtown Chicago office who answered taxpayer questions using IRS’s new tollfree CentiPhone system. Because of my job performance, the IRS manager who had given me that developmental opportunity and who had promoted me in 1972 and 1973 promoted me to GS-12 (currently $99,069/year) in 1974.)

https://www.dailyherald.com/20250227/illinois-state-politics/dupage-sheriff-announces-he-will-run-for-governor-in-2026/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Prompted by what he calls “radical” changes in Illinois’ criminal justice system, DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick is skipping a potential third term as the county’s top cop and setting his sights instead on the governor’s mansion. Mendrick, a Republican from Woodridge, announced Thursday he will run for Illinois governor in the 2026 election. He’s the first candidate to formally declare for the race. In a phone interview Thursday, Mendrick said he’s been thinking about running for about two years, as he’s watched legislation like the state’s SAFE-T Act — which eliminated the cash bail system in Illinois — have what he sees as negative impacts on law and order. “It’s been very frustrating to me to see how many people (charged with a crime) are being let go, and the judges are saying they can’t do anything about it because of the law,” he said. “I’ve been in law enforcement 29 years — it will be 30 when I end my term as sheriff — and I’ve seen a lot of changes, but nothing as radical as the last four years.” Besides putting potentially dangerous people back on the streets, Mendrick said the law deprives defendants of opportunities to take part in his jail’s rehabilitation efforts, such as a gang tattoo removal program that’s received national acclaim. Mendrick first announced his intentions Thursday in an interview on WLS-AM’s Ray Stevens show and a Facebook post. He took aim at Gov. JB Pritzker in the latter, accusing the two-term Democrat of imposing policies that conflict with federal law and make communities less safe. “My family and I have decided that we want our State back,” he wrote. “We don’t like being fearful of crime that is randomly occurring now in our streets, homes and our retail stores due to soft on crime legislation. We don’t want to move out of Illinois like so much of our population. “Our culture is being eliminated by senseless laws created by our current government that persecutes cops and empowers criminals,” he added. “I’m here to stop the bleed.” Pritzker has not said whether he will run again in 2026. With a growing national profile as an outspoken opponent of President Donald Trump, his name also has been floated as a possible Democratic nominee for president in 2028. Press secretary Alex Gough said via email Thursday that nothing has changed regarding Pritzker’s reelection plans, and declined to comment on Mendrick’s announcement. Mendrick acknowledges that running for governor is a costly proposition, especially if he ultimately faces off with a self-funded billionaire like Pritzker. Even so, he said he didn’t make much effort to contact Republican leadership to line up support and fundraising before Thursday. “I think my message is strong enough that it will draw support,” he said, adding that he’s already been inundated with calls and messages from people offering support. “It’s overwhelming, but overwhelming in a good way.” DuPage GOP leaders said they’re excited about Mendick’s campaign and optimistic about its prospects. “It will be exciting to have one of our own from DuPage County on the top of the ticket,” said Kevin Coyne, chair of the DuPage County Republicans. “Crime is a top concern for Illinois voters, and no one can speak to that better than Sheriff Mendrick,” he added. “I think he has the ability to make it a competitive race.” Jim Zay, a longtime DuPage County Board member and former chairman of the DuPage GOP, said the decision to run for governor is something that Mendrick is “not taking lightly.” “I know Jim and many of us have been frustrated with the direction of Illinois for a while,” said Zay, a Carol Stream Republican. “He felt strongly enough with his views that he can make a difference and change the direction in which the state’s going. With his plans to leave the sheriff’s office next year, Mendrick said he will support Undersheriff Eddie Moore as his successor. “He has no equal in a race for DuPage County Sheriff,” he wrote on Facebook.)

— I am a platform Republican. To run for an office as a Republican is to obligate yourself to defend and advance the Republican Party platform if elected. I help elect Republican candidates because if they are elected, they are obligated to defend and advance the Republican Party platform. But sadly, if not outrageously, if not disgustingly, if not tragically, after they are elected as Republicans, far too many fail/refuse to defend/advance the Republican Party platform. But nevertheless, I continue to help elect them because Democrat elected officials are much worse. There are many RINOs, but there are virtually no DINOs. – Dave Diersen

— GAO is supposed to be doing what DOGE does, plus much more. Bur GAO is just a shell of what it once was. That is because Gingrich gutted GAO instead of reforming it. Because of that, my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire when I was 49 years old in 1997. Before that, they always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance, delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for them, and forced me to take a $23,472/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS in 1980. GAO did not unionize until 2007. – Dave Diersen

— The federal government is not nonpartisan. Virtually all federal employees are Democrats who despise/hate Republicans. For Democrats, the federal government exists to hire, to retain, and to promote Democrats. I should write about that. I would use as examples the three federal agencies that I worked for: GAO 1980-1997, IRS 1971-1980, and Post Office 1966-1969. I would use as examples the adverse actions that the aforesaid took against me to waste my career and to get rid of me because I was a Republican who complained about their use of budget cuts, up-or-out, subjectivity in job assignment and performance appraisal systems, and Affirmative Action and DEI, that is, race and gender based preference giving, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, religious discrimination, and national origin discrimination to not hire Republicans, to not retain Republicans, to not promote Republicans, and to get rid of Republicans. – Dave Diersen

— Have you been collateral damage? I want to believe that my big GAO employment problems 1980-1997 were simply collateral damage caused by Republican budget cuts. But Hastert and my Republican U.S. Senators and Representatives not coming to my defense in Diersen v. GAO argues against that. It argues that they did not really oppose GAO’s political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, religious discrimination, and national origin discrimination. It argues that they rejected the equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) plank in the Republican Party platform. According to my critics/opponents, they did not come to my defense because they believed that I was a bad employee. In my defense, while I worked for GAO, I earned two job-related master’s degrees, five job-related professional certifications, and a job-related professional license. Previously, while I worked for IRS, I earned a job related master’s degree and a job-related professional certification.

— Analyzing DOGE actions one month into Trump’s second administration (COMMENT: I want to believe that my big GAO employment problems 1980-1997 were simply collateral damage caused by Republican budget cuts. General Assembly on Monday adopted two resolutions calling for an end to the war, while rejecting a U.S. draft that never mentioned Moscow’s aggression. Instead, both resolutions make clear Russia was the aggressor. The United States, reflecting the extraordinary turnaround under President Donald Trump, joined Russia in voting against a Europe-backed Ukrainian resolution. The U.S. then abstained from voting on its own resolution after Europeans succeeded in amending it. It was a setback for the Trump administration in the 193-member world body, whose resolutions are not legally binding but are seen as a barometer of world opinion.)

— What if the federal government had to look like America? It certainly does not now. Virtually all federal employees are Democrats. But Republican Trump got 50% of the vote. What if 50% of federal employee had to be Republican? The Democrats who ran GAO in 1980, IRS in 1971, and the Post Office in 1966 hired me because they could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job. Because I am a Republican, the Democrats who ran IRS would not have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974 if I had not been taking graduate evening business courses. Virtually none of my coworkers had done that. Because I am a Republican, the Democrats who ran GAO would not have promoted me in 1986 if I had not earned an MBA in 1976, passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, earned a master’s degree in accounting in 1980, and passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA in 1981. None of my coworkers had done anything close to that. – Dave Diersen

— What discourages Republicans from seeking federal jobs? Virtually all federal employees are Democrats. Democrat superiors and supervisors in the federal government give preference to their employees who are Democrat, and especially to those who are minority, female, younger, and/or veteran, that is, they discriminate against their employees who are Republican, and especially against those who are White, male, older, and/or non-veteran. What could Trump do about the aforesaid? He could use me as an example. If I had been a Democrat, the federal government would have promoted me into its Senior Executive Service before I was 40 years old. But because I was a Republican, the federal government wasted my career and forced me to retire when I was 49 years old in 1997 even though I had a) earned job-related master’s degrees in 1976, 1980, and 1997, b) earned job-related professional certifications in 1979, 1981, 1990, 1994, 1996, and 1997, and c) earned a job-related professional license in 1981. Trump could force the return of meritocracy in the federal government. All my coworkers who my Democrat superiors promoted over me were Democrats who a) had less work experience than I had, had less education than I had, had no professional certifications or fewer than I had, and/or had no professional license like the one I had and/or b) were minority, female, younger, and/or veteran. – Dave Diersen

— You’re age 35, 50, or 60: How much should you have saved for retirement by now? It’s important to make steady progress toward saving for retirement, no matter what your age. (COMMENT: Saving for our retirement was always a priority for my wife and I. While we were both working, we spent money like only one of us had a paycheck. We always put the maximums into tax-deferred accounts. Our retirement savings are much greater because we gave up trying to have children. Sadly, my critics/opponents use the aforesaid against me. We have less retirement savings because my Democrat superiors in the federal government wasted my career and forced me to retire when I was 49 years old in 1997. We have more money because of inheritances.)

https://www.dailyherald.com/20250209/news/dupage-county-board-resolution-would-henry-hydes-name-from-courthouse/
(FROM THEW ARTICLE: A resolution before the DuPage County Board on Tuesday would remove the name of the late Congressman Henry J. Hyde from the county’s Wheaton courthouse and rescind previous approval for a monument there in his honor. The courthouse became the Henry J. Hyde Judicial Office Facility in 2010, three years after the Republican lawmaker from Wood Dale died at 83 years old. The new measure, if approved, would rename the building the DuPage County Judicial Office Facility. During an interview Sunday, County Board Chair Deb Conroy referenced the Hyde Amendment, legislation introduced by Hyde in 1976 that prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortions, with some exceptions. “While Henry Hyde was a very well respected Republican elected official, the Hyde Amendment is very offensive to women, particularly women in Illinois,” said Conroy, a Democrat from Elmhurst. “I think overwhelmingly women in Illinois believe that all women have the right to health care, regardless of their ability to have private insurance.” Conroy said she told a Daily Herald editorial board in 2022 that she would take this action if elected chair. “I consider myself a woman of my word,” she added. “I very much value my bipartisan board, and we work very well together, which is why I put it off for two years.” If the full board approved the resolution, the Hyde family would receive a plaque that would be removed from the building. James Zay, a Republican county board member from Carol Stream, called the effort to remove Hyde’s name “narrow-minded.” “Henry Hyde did so much for DuPage County,” said Zay, who supported the renaming in 2010. “He brought so much funding into DuPage County for stormwater, for roads.” While the conservative Hyde may be best known for the amendment that bears his name, as well as his leading role in the impeachment of President Bill Clinton, Zay noted that he also supported gun control measures like the Brady bill and assault weapons ban. “You can’t rewrite history,” he added. “My question is, who is next? Is it going to be Linda Kurzawa’s name at the health department building? Or Jack Knuepfer? Or Pate Philip?”
But county board member Dawn DeSart, a Democrat from Aurora, said the proposed move reflects a shift away from partisanship. “The fair thing is to make the courthouse nonpartisan,” she said. The board is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the county board room at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.)

— HENRY HYDE’S NAME: The DuPage County Board is considering a resolution at that would change the name of the Henry J. Hyde Judicial Office Facility to the Judicial Office Facility, stripping Hyde’s name from the title. Hyde is the late Illinois congressman and abortion-rights opponent who’s known for the Hyde Amendment, which bars the government from helping fund abortions. The reason: “While Congressman Hyde was a well respected Republican elected official, the Hyde Amendment is very offensive to women,” said Board Chair Deb Conway, who’s behind the resolution. “Women who cannot afford private insurance should not have less access to health care.” During her campaign for the board, Conway told the Daily Herald she would remove Hyde’s name from the court building. Conway is a Democrat who previously served in the Illinois House. Her resolution has drawn scrutiny from Jeanne Ives, a Republican who also served in the Illinois House. In her Breakthrough Ideas email, Ives called the resolution “mean-spirited,” noting it follows President Donald Trump’s executive order Enforcing the Hyde Amendment. ( https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/enforcing-the-hyde-amendment/ ) The DuPage County Republican Party posted a message on its Facebook page urging residents to tell board members to reject the measure.

— Democrats far outspent GOP rivals in suburban U.S. House races — none more than Raja Krishnamoorthi (COMMENT: What discourages you from giving money to Republican candidates? For me, it includes my having less money. In today’s dollars, my federal pension a) is only 44% of what my GAO salary was in 1997 and b) less than what my IRS salary was in 1972. Further, my Social Security is dramatically less because I get a federal pension. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Republican candidates in northeast Illinois struggle to compete financially with their rivals across the aisle. Of the eight Republican congressional candidates who ran in the suburbs last year, the 10th District’s Jim Carris of Lake Forest spent the most — nearly $681,000. The campaign spending totals for four others — Rice in the 8th District plus James Marter in the 14th, Jerry Evans in the 11th and Niki Conforti in the 6th — were lower in the six-figure range. Ramirez’s GOP challenger in the 3rd District, John Booras, spent less than $40,000 on his campaign; the 9th District’s Seth Cohen spent less than $8,000 on his race. Postelection and year-end reports weren’t available for 5th District GOP candidate Tommy Hanson.)

Just ask Wheaton College, where Vought earned a bachelor’s degree. On Friday, Feb. 7, the Christian college posted a note on its Facebook page with Vought’s photo saying, “Wheaton College congratulates and prays for 1998 graduate Russell Vought regarding his senatorial confirmation to serve as the White House Director of the Office of Management and Budget!” Then the alumni base of the Illinois school began to vent their disdain for Vought and their disbelief that their alma mater would highlight someone responsible for creating Project 2025 and saying he wants to make federal employees so miserable they all quit — among other things. By Saturday morning, the post was removed from Facebook.)

https://abc7chicago.com/post/trump-federal-funding-actions-list-summary-trumps-moves-employees-programs/15844281/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Diversity, equity and inclusion On his second day back at the White House, Trump moved to end affirmative action in federal contracting and directed that all federal diversity, equity and inclusion staff be put on paid leave and eventually be laid off. That move followed an executive order Trump signed on his first day ordering a dismantling of the federal government’s diversity and inclusion programs that could touch on everything from anti-bias training to funding for minority farmers and homeowners, programs Trump has called “discrimination.” That action revokes an order issued by President Lyndon Johnson, and curtails DEI programs by federal contractors and grant recipients. It’s using one of the key tools utilized by the Biden administration to promote DEI programs across the private sector – pushing their use by federal contractors – to now eradicate them. While many changes may take months or even years to implement, prominent companies from Walmart to Facebook have already scaled back or ended some of their diversity practices in response to Trump’s election and conservative-backed lawsuits against them. By Friday, federal agencies are expected to develop a plan to execute a “reduction-in-force action” against federal DEI workers in their employ as of Election Day.)

(PRESS RELEASE: ICE Raids targeting criminals and gang members have arrived in Chicago. While many Democrats across the country have embraced and even supported President Trump’s targeting of criminal illegal migrants, JB Pritzker and Brandon Johnson continue to grandstand side by side prioritizing protecting criminals over the safety of Illinois families. Here’s some of the people that they are protecting: Nine Tren de Aragua terrorists; Seven sexual predators who committed crimes against children; and Two murderers. Tom Homan said it himself – “everybody we arrested in Chicago yesterday was a significant public safety threat.” “The Trump Administration is making our communities safe again and placing the lives and wellbeing of Americans first. I am a proud supporter of the new Administration’s efforts to step up and take the action that Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson are too cowardly to take themselves,” said Illinois Republican Party Chair Kathy Salvi. “This is a nation of laws, laws that Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson are fine ignoring for the sake of their own radical agenda. President Trump is doing exactly what the American people elected him to do, and we stand ready to assist him in his efforts to secure our border and keep our streets safe.”)

One Week of President Trump
— PRESS RELEASE: It’s been one week of President Trump’s America First agenda and a lot of great policies that improve the lives of Illinois residents went into effect. See for yourself what President Trump did in week one: Declared a national emergency at our southern border; Ended catch-and-release and reinstated the Remain in Mexico policy; Realigned foreign aid to better align with American interests; Returned to America First and Peace through Strength policies; Directed agencies to implement policies that lower the cost of living; Revoked the electric vehicle mandate; Ended DEI mandates across government; and Rescinded 78 Biden-era executive actions. Bottom Line: It’s been just over one week with President Trump back in office and America and Illinois are trending in the right direction. Over the next four years, President Trump will continue to work for the American people to secure our border, fix our economy and Make America Great Again!

https://www.illinoisreview.com/illinoisreview/2025/01/homer-glen-gop-under-siege-democrats-and-rinos-collude-to-undermine-conservative-slate.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As Homer Glen prepares for the February 25th Republican Primary, local Democrats and establishment Republicans appear to be working together to undermine a conservative slate – an unprecedented alliance that threatens to derail years of principled leadership in this conservative stronghold. The Homer Township Democrats recently shared a Facebook post by Mayor Christina Neitzke-Troike, encouraging residents to request Republican ballots to participate in the primary. The message specifically highlighted the presence of two Republican slates and implied that voting against the conservative slate – led by Steve Balich – is a priority. Mayor Neitzke-Troike has also come under fire for her handling of this contentious election. Following a heated exchange between supporters of the two slates on her Facebook page, the mayor decided to turn off comments entirely, citing negativity and trolling as her reasoning. However, this decision raises serious ethical and legal questions. As an elected official, Neitzke-Troike has a duty to provide transparency and facilitate open dialogue with her constituents. By silencing public discussion and turning off comments on her official page, she may be infringing on her constituents’ rights to engage with their elected representative. Legal experts have pointed out that her actions could potentially violate the First Amendment, which protects free speech, as well as Illinois state law. Specifically, the Illinois Open Meetings Act (OMA) requires that public officials conduct their duties in a transparent and accountable manner. While the OMA primarily applies to formal meetings, it underscores the principle that elected officials must not obstruct public participation or suppress communication with their constituents. Furthermore, there are growing concerns that her decision to hide or disable comments may constitute a violation of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act, which mandates that public officials avoid conduct that diminishes public confidence in the integrity of government. Critics argue that an elected official using social media to communicate with the public has an obligation to allow citizens to voice their opinions and concerns. Shutting down comments on public platforms undermines the trust between officials and residents, especially during a critical election season. Homer Glen is one of only two townships in Illinois with a primary for the consolidated election.)

They wanted to get rid of me so that they could give my job to one of my subordinates.)
