Basically, he’s saying that old workers ought to just vanish into the sunset and uses dog-whistle phrases like: These “diehards” have varying motivations for extending their careers. They “may feel” they still have much to offer. You may also need to work with senior-level people to “alter their positions” Imagine you had to explain to white workers why “diehard” black workers are in the way? Or male workers why “diehard” females are in the way? Or tell a black worker you have to “alter his position” because a white guy wants it. Did it escape your Miami Herald [editors] that age discrimination is illegal? Immoral? My opinion as a 40-year reader of the Herald?
