The vacation days that I got during my first 3 years was only about 6 per year because I worked only about 20 hours per week on average. I should write a book about what my Democrat federal superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates did to punish me for taking vacation days. They were beyond furious when I donated unused vacation days to “federal employees facing emergencies.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s an understatement to say that I was dumbfounded as to how I ended up on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) LGBTQ hate-list — I have never said or done anything to indicate hate for the LGBTQ community. When I called to inquire, SPLC informed me that I am guilty because I did a radio interview with Family Research Council Radio (FRC). I am a program coordinator for The Leadership Institute’s Campus Reform. org. The segment was about socialism, but because FRC holds traditional family values, I was labeled an LGBT-hater just for being a guest on the show. No LGBT topics even came-up. SPLC’s hate-list exemplifies a bullying tactic employed by the left to silence conservative ideas. Regardless of the issue, support for the conservative point of view results in a litany of hateful labels and reputation-smearing. The goal is to paint any opposition to the far left as morally depraved and, therefore, unworthy of being included in conversation. Dr. Carol Swain, an African-American woman and former Vanderbilt professor, is a perfect case-in-point; she was labeled a white supremacist sympathizer by the SPLC for pointing-out SPLC’s hypocrisy on racial issues. This tactic is more than illogical; it’s dangerous. Reckless and irresponsible hate-labeling not only stifles free speech and expression, it empowers and emboldens vicious groups and individuals to violently attack people. Consider the 2012 Family Research Council shooting, when a man walked into the organization’s office in Washington, D.C., with 100 rounds of ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches. He planned to kill as many staff members as possible and smear the sandwiches in their faces. He said he chose his target based on SPLC’s Hate Map.)

Ms. Harold became Miss America in 2003 to help pay for law school, from which she graduated in 2007, debt-free. She’s been a practicing attorney ever since and has run for the 13th Congressional District seat in Illinois. “I see a state government that’s out of control,” Ms. Harold said. “I see a state government that’s not accountable to the rule of law, and I want to see an Attorney General’s office that works for the people. I want an Attorney General’s office that does not pick and choose the laws it enforces.” She wants to fight public corruption and hold lawmakers accountable. “That has not been done in the past 16 years,” Ms. Harold claimed of Ms. Madigan, whose father is longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan. “Too often that office is used in ways that benefit the politician,” she said. “It does not work on the side of the people.” Having been harassed in high school, Ms. Harold said she knows what it’s like to feel powerless. “People are fed up with what they see in government, on both sides of the aisle,” she said. “I am a committed, independent voice, willing to hold both sides accountable.” Ms. Harold also said she’s a fighter, and an unconventional GOP candidate. “I’m not the kind of person people think of when they think of the Republican Party,” she said. “I will win because I will not be out-worked.”)

Meanwhile, representing the Left, there are organizations like Media Matters for America, which spend resources on correcting or exposing misinformation perpetuated by conservative news sources. And on social media, “fake news” lives on. The public is rightfully confused and unnecessarily agitated, and newspaper brands have suffered because of it. Objectivity as a Guidepost  Perhaps the greatest misconception that the public has about journalists and the business of newsgathering is that pure objectivity is not just possible, but that it’s the whole job. What they may not realize is that sticking to “just the facts,” or merely the “who, what, when, where, and why,” makes for an interminably hollow story, like a naked skeleton. It lacks context, flavor, understanding based on research and knowledge. A “just the facts” story is both boring to read and a dereliction of a journalist’s duty to go beyond the “5 Ws,” with insight, perspectives, and things that become known during the newsgathering that should not be unknown for the sake of appearing purely objective.)
