I got student draft deferments 1966-1970 and a financial hardship draft deferment 1970-1971. They stress that if I had not avoided the draft, I would not have been able to a) buy new cars in 1967, 1968, 1971, 1973, 1978, etc. b) go on big vacations in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, etc. c) graduate debt-free from college in 1970, d) buy real estate in 1972, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1984, 2020, and 2023, e) earn master’s degrees in 1976, 1980, and 1997, f) get married in 1978, g) earn professional certifications in 1979, 1981, etc. h) earn a professional license in 1981, i) etc. In my book, I would focus on my critics/opponents who are/were veterans.)
