I want the following to be expunged from my employment record: My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $19,203 (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. WALL STREET JOURNAL
— GM Says 2,700 Workers Slated for Layoffs Can Transfer – Mike Colias (DIERSEN: Federal employees can apply to transfer between federal agencies. If their application is approved, they transfer with them their federal seniority, unused vacation days, and unused sick days. But those who transfer should expect to be despised if not hated by those who work for the agency that they transfer to. I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old. I should write a book about my Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates who were furious that I transferred with me almost 12 years (almost 3 years with the Post Office and almost 9 years with IRS) of federal seniority, 30 unused vacation days, and 130 unused sick days. They were beyond furious that I started earning 26 vacation days a year in 1984 and that I got full-time federal service credit while I worked for the Post Office even though I worked only part-time. They were overjoyed that my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to take a $19,203 (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer. GAO audits IRS. They viciously demonized, viciously denigrated, and viciously condemned what I had learned a) by working for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $81,071-$91,880, b) by passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, c) by earning an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and d) by earning a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980. They would not have done the aforesaid if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.)

— Illinois Republicans stunned after Gov. Rauner admits to recruiting 4 others to run in November gubernatorial race – Craig Wall
https://abc7chicago.com/politics/illinois-gop-stunned-after-rauner-admits-to-recruiting-4-others-to-run-for-governor/4900233/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison, a leading state Republican, is now calling for an emergency meeting of the State Central Committee to address what the Rauner revelation, which he and others are calling a deeply troubling matter. In a statement, he said: “I personally asked the Governor on two separate occasions before the Primary if he was committed to his re-election. Both times, to my face, he made clear that he was all in – not only for himself but for all statewide candidates…this private surrender by Bruce Rauner shows a lack of loyalty, integrity, and character.” Rauner is being accused of betraying the party. “Stunned and even more disappointed, I didn’t think I could be more disappointed or betrayed because I think that the Governor really betrayed everybody in the party and by extension everyone in the state,” said Chris Robling, a Republican strategist. Sources said that Rauner approached his attorney general candidate Erika Harold the day after the state fair in August, less than three months before the election, and asked her to take his place on the ballot. “It appears in this case he wasn’t really into it and he got more and more out of it the longer the campaign went on,” Robling said. Rauner had also asked then-state Sen. Karen McConnaughay to do the same in April. McConnaughay said first lady Diana Rauner approached her with a similar request the year before. The fallout has Republicans frustrated and angry. “What happened at the top of the ticket brought us down across the whole state, we lost a whole lot of state legislative seats because of what he did and that’s what really hurts, because now Madigan has a super majority and we can’t stop him,” said Chris Cleveland, chairman of the Chicago Republican Party. The chairman of the state Republican Party Tim Schneider said in a statement that “Neither myself nor the staff at the Illinois Republican Party had any knowledge of the discussions Governor Rauner had regarding his candidacy.” Other Republicans are not only shocked by what the governor did, but that he publicly admitted it.)

DAILY HERALD
— McConnaughay told Rauner he couldn’t pick his own replacement on ballot – Jake Griffin (DIERSEN: What if Rauner had withdrawn and Ives had been selected to fill the vacancy? The Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee (SCC) fills vacancies by weighted vote when candidates withdraw in statewide races. In the 2004 Illinois U.S. Senate race, I attended all the IRP SCC meetings that were open to the press that resulted in the IRP SCC selecting Alan Keyes to replace Jack Ryan who had withdrawn. I unsuccessfully urged the IRP SCC to select Jim Oberweis because Oberweis had received the second most votes in the primary. Steve Rauschenberger had received the third most votes and Andy McKenna the fourth most. — Sensing defeat, Rauner admits seeking other candidates to replace him on ballot – Alexandra Arriaga
https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/sensing-defeat-rauner-admits-seeking-other-candidates-to-replace-him-on-ballot/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Indeed, officials said if Rauner had relinquished the nomination, the GOP state central committee would have had eight days to name a replacement, according to State Board of Elections spokesman Matt Dietrich. “Obviously, he could have recommended a preferred replacement, but the decision would have had to be made by the Republican state central committee,” Dietrich said. McConnaughey said Rauner’s tactic was similar to his style of governing. “He tried to end his career as governor the same way he got into it — always this idea he would strong-arm it,” she said. “He never respected the fact that there’s a process to governing. Never accepted responsibility for mistakes he made, always [House Speaker Michael] Madigan or someone else’s fault.” She added: “The Republicans could have and should have had a better candidate. He didn’t bring the kind of energy to the race that was necessary.” During the interview, Rauner also blamed President Trump as a “contributing factor” in his 16-point loss to Pritzker. He believes his chances to stay in office would have been better if Democrat Hillary Clinton had won.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Barickman said the report just makes you scratch your head and shake it negatively. “First of all, it’s not the way the process works. Incumbent governors don’t get to select their replacement,” said Barickman. Rauner reportedly asked four different people to take the job of running for governor as late as August. “It’s disingenuous at best. Most importantly it cheats Republican voters from their opportunity to have a say in this. And that’s their voice that gets shut out,” said Barickman. Barickman said this shows Rauner’s failure to understand the political and legislative processes.)

SUBURBAN CHICAGOLAND
— Sean Morrison slams Governor Rauner for abandoning GOP
https://suburbanchicagoland.com/2018/12/14/sean-morrison-slams-governor-rauner-for-abandoning-gop/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Cook County Commissioner and County GOP Chairman Sean Morrison issued the following statement: To learn yesterday that Bruce Rauner secretly tried to abdicate his candidacy – on several occasions – is an affront to everyone in the Illinois Republican Party and the entire State of Illinois. It is an egregious betrayal of trust that countless members of the Republican Party placed in him, and that 1.7 Million residents of Illinois had when they cast their vote for him in November. I personally asked the Governor on two separate occasions before the Primary if he was committed to his re-election. Both times, to my face, he made clear that he was all in – not only for himself but for all Statewide candidates. We now know, by his own admission, that he deceived me and others. Evidently, the deception didn’t end there. After the primary, Bruce explicitly promised a statewide absentee ballot and early voting program to boost Republican turnout. Was the program ever implemented? No. And his answer to questions about this program’s failure was nothing more than continued excuses. . .As a Republican elected official and a member of the Illinois Republican State Central Committee, this kind of betrayal and deception is totally unacceptable and has no place within our party. For this reason, I will call for an emergency meeting of the Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee to address this deeply troubling matter and to immediately forge a plan forward to rebuild our party as one that will fight for the working families of Illinois and will challenge Illinois Democratic Party policies that have forced our state into economic peril.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: While such a move would have been unusual, the Illinois State Board of Elections said it’s possible to replace a candidate on the ballot if they want to step down, as Rauner indicated earlier this week he wanted to do. “If Rauner had relinquished the nomination, the GOP state central committee would have had eight days following his withdrawal to name a replacement,” ISBE spokesman Matt Dietrich said. “And this would need to happen at least 15 days before the general election for Rauner’s name to be removed and replaced with the new candidate’s name.” State Rep. Jeanne Ives, who lost to Rauner in the March primary by 2.8 percent, said there was talk about a switch in some GOP circles. She said radio host Dan Proft, a former Republican candidate for governor, had mentioned it. She also said she’d be surprised if party officials didn’t know Rauner had considered leaving the race. “They knew that Rauner was not in for the fight,” said Ives, R-Wheaton. “There’s no doubt in my mind that they knew he asked others to run. [Schneider] can say what he wants to all day long, I do not believe him.” McConnaughay said she didn’t know if GOP officials were aware Rauner wanted someone else to take over in the race against Pritzker. “I only know what I know and I’m not interested in engaging in conspiracy theories, I’ll leave that to Representative Ives,” McConnaughay said. Ives called for Schneider to step down as the party’s leader. She said the GOP leadership “has failed to provide a necessary contrast to the horrible policies of the Democrats and their corrupt dealings.”)

GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job. IRS hired me in 1971 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job. The Post Office hired me in 1966 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Sensing re-election loss, Gov. Bruce Rauner looked to replace himself on Nov. 6 ballot – Mike Riopell and Rick Pearson (DIERSEN: According to Greg Bishop, Ives “said there’s no doubt in her mind GOP leadership in Illinois knew about this and ‘let this go on.’ She demanded top leadership step down.” One could ask Illinois Republican Party (IRP) Chairman Tim Schneider and each of the IRP State Central Committee members when did they first learn of this?)
https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-pritzker-trump-governors-meeting-20181213-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Former Republican state Sen. Karen McConnaughay of St. Charles acknowledged to the Tribune that she was recruited by Rauner in mid-April, about a month after he defeated GOP primary challenger state Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton by just 3 percentage points. Sources said Rauner’s recruitment effort also included Todd Ricketts, a member of the family that owns the Chicago Cubs who is now finance chairman of the Republican National Committee; and Erika Harold, an Urbana attorney who at the time was the GOP nominee for attorney general. She ultimately lost to Democratic state Sen. Kwame Raoul. A source close to Harold said Rauner contacted her about replacing him on the ticket in August, mere months before the general election.)

She said there’s no doubt in her mind GOP leadership in Illinois knew about this and “let this go on.” She demanded top leadership step down. “It’s really unfortunate for everybody involved in politics who now completely understand that [Rauner] essentially bought his race and then lied down to the Democrats and was never going to be the watchdog that we need in the face of Pritzker’s tax increase and increased spending that will drive Illinois to the brink of disaster,” Ives said.)

NEW YORK POST
— What’s ‘immoral’ about caring for America’s poor first? – Betsy McCaughey
https://nypost.com/2018/12/11/whats-immoral-about-caring-for-americas-poor-first/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Not building the wall is what’s truly immoral. Allowing poor migrants to flood across the southern border forces taxpayers to toil longer and pay more taxes to feed and house them, accommodate their children in public schools and pay for their medical care. Americans are already maxed out caring for our own needy, including the homeless sprawled on city streets. This nation has some 40 million people in poverty, one out of every eight people and one of every six children. That’s far higher than the share of people living in poverty in Canada or the UK. Our country doesn’t need to import more poverty. For the same reason, Trump is proposing that only legal immigrants who can support themselves without government handouts be granted green cards. Mayor Bill de Blasio blasted Trump’s proposal as “un-American.” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said “the plan is ugly, it is cruel.” Really? Why should Americans be compelled to provide a safety net for throngs pressing to get into the country? Milton Friedman warned two decades ago that America can have open borders or a generous welfare system but not both. Open borders boost a growing economy by providing a source of labor. But that works only so long as immigrants are barred from government benefits. Trump is tightening regulations under a longstanding law, on the books since 1882, that bars immigrants likely to need government benefits from obtaining permanent status. Starting with President Bill Clinton, the law has been applied so laxly that almost no one is denied a green card for that reason. A staggering 63 percent of households headed by a noncitizen depend on Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance or in some cases all of these taxpayer-funded programs, according to a December 2018 analysis of census data by the restrictionist Center for Immigration Studies. That figure is almost double what it is for households headed by American-born citizens. Right now, newly arrived legal immigrants who earn little or nothing are eligible for fully subsidized ObamaCare plans, with taxpayers footing the entire bill, even for copays and deductibles. And 6.8 million children of immigrants are enrolled in Medicaid, according to the Urban Institute. Meanwhile, millions of American-born taxpayers who fund this giveaway to newcomers are going without insurance themselves, because they can’t afford it. That doesn’t jibe with the ideal that a democracy’s first duty is to protect its own citizens. Don’t expect the American public to buy into open borders and handouts for all comers. All Americans have to do is look across the Atlantic to see the disastrous results of that policy.)

After previous shutdowns, Congress also has passed legislation to retroactively pay furloughed workers.)

The poll is an indication, again, of a Republican Party that is increasingly made up of a white working- and middle-class majority that feel disenfranchised due to country’s mass immigration policy of importing more than a million legal immigrants a year, while at the same time, having their jobs outsourced to foreign countries through the globalization of the country’s economy. Polling and the recent midterm elections show, yet again, little-to-no support for economic libertarianism with GOP voters overwhelmingly in support of President Donald Trump’s economic nationalism. For example, while the New York Times has complained that states with a white American majority pose “an array of problems,” the process known as “chain migration” — whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. with them — has imported more than nine million foreign nationals since 2005. As Breitbart News reported, if chain migration is not ended — as President Trump has demanded — the U.S. electorate will forever be changed, with between seven to eight million new foreign-born individuals being eligible to vote because of chain migration, and overall, an additional 15 million new foreign-born voters. Simultaneously, illegal immigration next year is on track to soar to the highest level in a decade, with a potential 600,000 border crossers expected. Meanwhile, free trade with China has eliminated or outsourced about 3.5 million American jobs since 2001. Polling this year found that a majority of GOP voters say free trade has hurt the U.S. and cost Americans their jobs.)

Kaczmarek compared the allegations against Hinds to recent lawsuits against DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba. Several veteran deputies have claimed they were punished by Zaruba for unionizing and refusing to support the sheriff politically. One suit has been settled, but more are pending. “Prohibited political activity is a big problem in DuPage County. It impacts all of us,” she said. “Yet, this problem is so easy to fix with tougher policies, better training and a willingness to enforce laws which already exist. Our county officials have chosen to do nothing and here we are today.” Hinds did not respond to requests for comment and Paul Darrah, spokesman for the state’s attorney’s office, confirmed receipt of the complaint but said he could not speak further on the matter.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “When Jamal Khashoggi entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2, he didn’t know he was walking into a killing zone,” Ignatius writes. “He had become the prime target in a 21st-century information war — one that involved hacking, kidnapping and ultimately murder — waged by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and his courtiers against dissenters. “How did a battle of ideas, triggered by Khashoggi’s outspoken journalism for The Post, become so deadly? That’s the riddle at the center of the columnist’s death.”)

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
— Can GOP win back Orange County? Republicans disagree about path forward Does party need new messaging tools, or new message? – JORDAN GRAHAM (DIERSEN: If you asked all those in your precinct who voted for Democrats in the November 6, 2018 election what would it take for them to vote for Republicans in the November 3, 2020 election, what would they say?)
https://www.ocregister.com/2018/12/07/can-gop-win-back-orange-county-republicans-disagree-about-path-forward/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On the heels of a historic election that swept Republicans from congressional power in Orange County, members of the GOP already are brainstorming how to win back the seats they lost to Democrats. But as party leaders and strategists talk, one thing seems clear: Republicans don’t agree on why they lost their one-time stronghold. Was it pure backlash against President Donald Trump? Did Democrats merely outspend and out-hustled the GOP? Were Republicans lousy at expressing their ideas? Or, on the other hand, has the GOP brand become toxic in an increasingly diverse county? And, perhaps most importantly, will local Republicans need to change their politics in order to win in the future? It all means that as Republicans devise a strategy to retake the four Orange County congressional seats they lost this cycle – and as Democrats prepare to defend them – any description of the political messaging of 2020 is, at best, a guess.)

ILLINOIS REVIEW
— WILL THERE BE AN ILLINOIS GOP?
https://www.illinoisreview.com/illinoisreview/2018/12/will-there-be-an-illinois-gop.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: John McGlasson, the 16th CD State Central Committeeman, said that he did not anticipate any party leadership changes in the near future. “I can say that Chairman Schneider has every intention of staying on. He did not offer any apologies. Did not offer anything new. They blamed the usual suspects – but the chairman did look me in the eye several times,” McGlasson said. “In my opinion, they think there should be a unified message and that message should not be pro-President Trump, should not be pro-life, should not be pro-Second Amendment,” McGlasson said. “They want a unified message – a message that is theirs.”)

GOPUSA
— How Trump can beat the deep-state coup (DIERSEN: Do/did your superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and/or subordinates view you as being a member of the deep state? Mine did while I worked for the federal government 1966-1969 and 1971-1997 a) because they were Democrats and I was a Republican; b) because I refused to help them get rid of employees because they were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran and had not made GS-13 (currently $96,403) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $113,920) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $134,000) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $164,200) by age 40; c) because I opposed political affiliation discrimination; d) because I opposed reverse discrimination; and e) because I opposed age discrimination. Because of the aforesaid, a) my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $19,203 (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
