And it’s not just called socialism now. They’re calling it social justice as well,” Rectenwald added. “It leads to the kind of forced egalitarianism that you saw in the Soviet Union, where you have to squash people down so that everyone’s ‘equal.’ And it led to 94 million people being murdered, combined in all the communist regimes in the 20th century.”)

I have never been “well-positioned” in the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC), DuPage County Republican Central Committee (DCRCC), or the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) because the majority of their leaders and members are “moderates,” that is, they are RINOs, that is, they fail/refuse to defend/advance the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and/or other planks in the IRP platform and in the Republican Party platform. How have AA, Diversity, and Inclusion impacted you? AA, Diversity, and Inclusion impacted me extremely negatively. While I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, because I am Republican, White, male, and non-veteran, my Democrat superiors did everything that they could to not hire me, to not retain me, to not promote me, and to get rid of me. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $19,203 (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

DAILY HERALD
— Naperville representative’s ‘white supremacist’ comments sparking conversation – Marie Wilson (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Democrats demonize, denigrate, condemn, and promote hatred against Republicans, and especially against Republicans who are White, male, and/or older, as being White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, and even worse things who should be gotten rid of. Democrats do not want “spark conversation.” They want to get rid of Republicans.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20190126/naperville-representatives-white-supremacist-comments-sparking-conversation
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Stava-Murray’s comments have drawn demands for apologies from the Lisle and Naperville Township Republican Organizations, as well as calls by Naperville City Council member Kevin Coyne and others for her to be censured. “What I feel most uplifted by since I made those comments, and since the subsequent press coverage, is actually that several groups I’ve heard of have actually been discussing what racism looks like today in Naperville,” she said. “And how do we change it.” Many Naperville leaders, including Mayor Steve Chirico, who has worked to diversify membership on the city’s advisory boards and commissions, say her claims of “white supremacist policies” are far from the truth. “I don’t think it’s a fair characterization,” Chirico said. Some say the criticism of harboring white favoritism doesn’t fit a city becoming known as a hub of Indian-American business and culture. Naperville demographics show the city is 68.3 percent white, 17.9 percent Asian, 5.7 percent Hispanic, 5 percent black and 3.2 percent two or more races, according to the U.S. Census Bureau in July 2018. “If it was that kind of supremacist city,” says Krishna Bansal, chairman of Naperville Indian Community Outreach, a group formed by late Mayor George Pradel in 2013 along with a counterpart for Chinese outreach, “why would people come here?” . . . Chirico said the city follows a nationally standardized process for hiring police officers and maintains a review board specifically to discuss issues such as inherent bias before making decisions. He said he trusts the hiring process as well as police Chief Robert Marshall’s emphasis on diversifying his force. “It would be really, really hard to make a case that our recruitment process or our hiring process is somehow biased,” Chirico said. “It’s just not.” “We flatly deny and oppose any insinuation that Naperville hires police officers who are not appropriately vetted and highly qualified,” read a statement from city hall. . .Chirico said he is not concerned, saying that if it were a problem, those affected would be talking about it. Statistics provided to the Illinois Department of Transportation show white drivers were pulled over during 63 percent of the 13,342 traffic stops conducted in 2017 in Naperville, and minority drivers were involved in the remaining 37 percent of stops. Statewide, police stopped white drivers 58 percent of the time in 2017 and pulled over minority drivers in 42 percent of stops. . .Naperville City Council member Patty Gustin, who sells real estate for Charles Rutenberg Realty, said she is offended by Stava-Murray’s comments, which she says “create fake barriers and drive people away.” “I have not observed Realtors violating fair housing laws,” Gustin said. “To the contrary, we work especially hard to build a diverse community.” . . . District 203 did not immediately provide its rates of student suspension or AP class participation by race. But officials on Friday acknowledged a national trend of disproportionate disciplinary action against black students and said the trend “also holds true in Naperville 203.” To try to address the disparity, the district has implemented policies including placement in alternative schools instead of expulsion and has created a diversity advisory committee. “This is not a new issue for Naperville 203, but we are actively working to address it,” Rakeda Leaks, executive director of diversity and inclusion, said in a written statement. “We are committed to inclusive practices and supporting the educational and emotional needs of all students in the district.”)

— Illinois GOP facing dire financial straits – Rich Miller
https://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/jb-pritzker-campaign-spending-democrats-illinois-republicans-dire-financial-straits/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Democratic Party of Illinois ended the year with about $1.4 million in the bank. The Illinois Republican Party finished with $313,000. The IL GOP is going to have to be frugal for a while until they can raise some dough. Rauner has been the state GOP’s most reliable donor. The former governor contributed $36.9 million to the state party since June 13th of 2014. The party raised another $20 million or so on top of that since that same date, but a large chunk of that money was pass-through cash from the two legislative caucuses for direct mail costs. The unofficial leader of the Republican Party’s wealthy Chicago-area “donor class” was Ron Gidwitz. He helped raise a ton of money for his party over the years. But Gidwitz is now the US Ambassador to Belgium, so he can’t do them any good. Bottom line: The Republican Party in this state is in very dire straits.)

DUPAGE POLICY JOURNAL
— Wheaton Bowl owner Sal Falbo says he was targeted by Council candidate Bray-Parker – Glenn Minnis (DIERSEN: In 2002, I succeeded in getting the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) to hold its monthly meetings in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall and the MTRCC has held its monthly meetings there ever since.)
https://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511739295-wheaton-bowl-owner-says-he-was-targeted-by-council-candidate-bray-parker
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sal Falbo thinks Erica Bray-Parker could use a new lesson plan. “I don’t think her actions were the right thing to be teaching her students,” Falbo told the DuPage Policy Journal as rumors of Bray-Parker’s attempting to bully him and other business owners in Wheaton into removing signs from their properties that were for political candidates she doesn’t agree with continue to swirl. “We all have a right to freedom of speech, and as a teacher you would think she would know and understand that,” he added. According to local business owner Jane Shaw, all the drama began when Bray-Parker, who teaches at Glenbard North and is an instructor at the Civics Club, penned a letter to Falbo and other local business owners demanding that they remove posters of former state Rep. Jeanne Ives, a Republican of Wheaton, from in front of their businesses, vowing never to return to their establishments if they failed to comply. Bray-Parker, who is running for Wheaton City Council in District 4, is also accused of using her students as part of her “bullying” campaign, Shaw added. “I don’t live in Wheaton but if I did there’s no way I would vote for her,” said Faldo, part owner of Wheaton Bowl. “She’s obviously an activist, but part of the responsibility in that is understanding that everyone has the same free speech rights that you do. On top of that, the signs she was complaining about weren’t even on my property; they were in front. She’s really made an issue out of a nonissue.” Meanwhile, Ives, who relinquished her seat in Springfield with the start of the legislative session, has been adamant in expressing her opinion that she doesn’t think what she calls Bray-Parker’s brand of politics is right for Wheaton. “Erica Bray-Parker should not be elected; make sure she isn’t,” she told the DuPage Policy Journal. “She is unfit to represent business owners and the respectful, hard-working taxpayers of Wheaton. She is a civics teacher who is not civil.” Bray-Parker also raised eyebrows in May 2018, when she penned a letter in the Daily Herald assailing Peter Breen, a Republican of Lombard who was a state representative at the time, over what she perceived to be his inadequate stance on the issue of gun control.)

PRAIRIE STATE WIRE
— McGlasson discouraged by lack of response to meeting request – W.J. Kennedy (DIERSEN: What do the following have to say about this: your Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain, the officers of your Republican township, ward, and/or county party organizations, your representative on the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee, the IRP officers, the IRP National Committeeman, and the IRP National Committeewoman?)
https://prairiestatewire.com/stories/511740588-mcglasson-discouraged-by-lack-of-response-to-meeting-request
(FROM THE ARTICLE: All that Republican Committeeman John McGlasson says he is likely to get out of his call for a special meeting of the state GOP after the shellacking the party took in November is a chance to speak his mind at the party’s regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 9 in Bolingbrook. If he can make his way onto the agenda. “Never heard back from anyone,” McGlasson, referring to his request for a special meeting, told Prairie State Wire. “I’m completely discouraged. I’ll try to give my viewpoints at the regular party meeting, if I get a chance.” The conservative McGlasson, committeeman from the 16th Congressional District, seconded fellow Committeeman’s Sean Morrison’s call for a special meeting after the embarrassing revelation in mid-December that Bruce Rauner sought someone to take his place on the ballot soon after his near loss to former State Rep. Jeanne Ives, a Republican of Wheaton, in the March primary. Again, he heard nothing. “We should be out looking hard for someone to challenge (U.S. Senator Dick) Durbin in 2020,” he said. “A good, enthusiastic candidate will help other candidates in down-ticket races. Maybe we could take a few of the House seats back. But they seem to be content with the way things are.” McGlasson needs five of the 18 Republican Central Committee members to call a special meeting of the party. He says with Bob Winchester’s legal claim for his Committee spot in the 15th Congressional District still in legal limbo, he doesn’t have them. “It is my opinion that the party needs to return to its roots as expressed in our party platform,” he said. “And we need to search for a leader that will lead us back to the basics of conservatism.” McGlasson said that a move is on to have Ives speak in Bolingbrook, but she told the Prairie State Wire that she has yet to receive an invitation. “I would tell them that they are disorganized and rudderless,” Ives said. “We need a fiscal contract with Illinoisans and a strategy to carry it out.” “We need new leadership,” she added, “after that bloodbath in November, and (the) revelation about Rauner. They (party leaders) can’t claim ignorance about that. He’s been funding the party for years.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The current government shutdown is the longest in American history, surpassing the previous three-week shutdown in late 1995 and early 1996. Before 2019, the federal government experienced more than a dozen shutdowns and funding gaps of varying lengths and with varying impacts. While the federal government went more than a decade without a shutdown in the early 2000s, they happened almost annually during the Carter presidency, and there were six during Reagan’s presidency. In the early 1980s, opinions by then-Attorney General Benjamin Civiletti altered the impact of lawmakers’ failure to pass new spending bills. Prior to that, shutdowns did not always entail an actual stop to government functioning, according to the Associated Press, and they were “simply funding gaps with little real-world effect.” Here’s a look back at shutdowns since 1990:)

DUPAGE POLICY JOURNAL
— Ives charges Bray-Parker with bullying – Glenn Minnis
https://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511739013-ives-charges-bray-parker-with-bullying
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Former state Rep. Jeanne Ives of Wheaton says Erica Bray-Parker does not deserve to represent that city. “Erica Bray-Parker should not be elected; make sure she isn’t,” Ives told the DuPage Policy Journal of the Glenbard North teacher and Civics Club instructor now running for Wheaton City Council in District 4. “She is unfit to represent business owners and the respectful, hard-working taxpayers of Wheaton. She is a civics teacher who is not civil.” Indeed, Bray-Parker’s campaign has recently been dogged by controversy, with local business owner Jane Shaw telling the DuPage Policy Journal of rumors she heard about Bray-Parker bullying local business owners into taking down the signs of candidates she doesn’t support. The veteran educator is also accused of having manipulated her students into aiding her and her campaign. Ives argues Bray-Parker is all about special interests, warning voters that if she is elected they face additional taxes, being told what to do with their property and some form of censorship. “Churches beware too, as she has opinions, apparently, about which views of Christianity are best,” Ives added. “When your church wants to expand, would she allow a zoning change or block it with her vote?” Finally, Ives charges Bray-Parker is more than willing to run roughshod over “our Constitutional and God-given natural rights,” adding she thinks Bray-Parker has not shown herself to be inclusive in the least. “Fortunately, the business owner at Wheaton Bowl (one of the owners Bray-Parker is accused of trying to strong-arm) refused to be bullied by her,” she added. “Other businesses, I am told, cowered to her demands—which is why everyone should frequent Wheaton Bowl and tell them you appreciate their common sense and decency.” Ives urged voters to take to the polls in April to reject what she called Bray-Parker’s brand of politics. “There are two seats up for Wheaton City Council at-large,” she said. “Running against ((Bray-)Parker are Suzanne Fitch and Ron Almiron. They have my support and will receive my vote.)

The once-powerful DuPage County Republican organization lost State House and Senate representation in 2018, along with its place in the U.S. Congress. Republicans state reps. David Olsen, Peter Breen, Senators Chris Nybo, Mike Connelly are no longer representing the area in the Illinois legislature. The DuPage County Board now has eight (7?) Democrats on its 18-member board, after having only one Democrat for years. DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin was challenged and nearly defeated by a Democrat. In addition, the far western suburbs’ adjoining IL Congressional District 14 is now represented by Democrat Lauren Underwood – who is portraying herself as a close colleague to the freshman New York Congress member Alexandira Ocasio-Cortez – a self-proclaimed socialist and influential Democrat.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: President Donald Trump says he directed White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders not to bother with the traditional daily briefing of reporters. The last briefing took place on Dec. 18. In a tweet on Tuesday, the president said the press covers Sanders “so rudely & inaccurately, in particular certain members of the press. “I told her not to bother, the word gets out anyway!” he tweeted. “Most will never cover us fairly & hence, the term, Fake News!” The afternoon briefing has been a staple of cable news schedules during the past few administrations and the sight of Sanders’ predecessor Sean Spicer at the podium was an enduring image of the early days of Trump’s tenure. The White House Correspondents Association called the decision a retreat from transparency and accountability that sets a terrible precedent.)

https://www.wsj.com/articles/companies-manipulate-glassdoor-by-inflating-rankings-and-pressuring-employees-11548171977
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Last summer, employees of Guaranteed Rate Inc. posted a stream of negative reviews about the mortgage broker on Glassdoor, a company-ratings website. “An American sweatshop,” read a one-star review in June. “Worst company I ever worked for,” read another in July. The company’s rating on Glassdoor, which is determined by employee feedback, fell to 2.6 stars out of 5. Concerned that negative reviews could hurt recruiting, Guaranteed Rate CEO Victor Ciardelli instructed his team to enlist employees likely to post positive reviews, said a person familiar with his instructions. In September and October these employees flooded Glassdoor with hundreds of five-star ratings. The company rating now sits at 4.1. Glassdoor has become an important arbiter of employee sentiment in today’s highly competitive job market. A Wall Street Journal investigation shows it can be manipulated by employers trying to sway opinion in their favor.)

I obtained my first student draft deferment in 1966 when I was 18 years old, and ever since then, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me as being a draft dodger. In 1970, when I was 21 years old and had earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU, employers were extremely reluctant to hire me because they fully expected that I would be drafted. They did not believe that my application for a financial hardship draft deferment would be granted, but it was granted, and then, because of my draft lottery number, I was no longer subject to the draft. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted a) that instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a veteran in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a veteran could have my job, c) that instead of me, IRS should have hired a veteran in 1971, d) that instead of me, IRS should have promoted veterans in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) that instead of me, GAO should have hired a veteran in 1980, f) that instead of me, GAO should have promoted a veteran in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a veteran could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

PITTSBURG POST GAZETTE
— Why ageism hurts men more than women – JULIA CARPENTER (DIERSEN: All my critics/opponents, all their operatives, and all their dupes promote age discrimination a) to get rid of those who are older than they are and/or b) to curry favor with those who promote age discrimination.)
https://www.post-gazette.com/news/aging-edge/2019/01/22/Why-ageism-hurts-men-more-than-women/stories/201901220156
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Age bias can be subtle — a whispered comment, a snide dig, an errant thought. Or it can show up in more overt behaviors — a forgotten meeting invite, a blatant preference for a younger colleague or even hiring discrimination. But new research shows that age bias doesn’t affect men and women equally. In fact, older men face harsher penalties than older women. Battling stereotypes By 2022, 25 percent of the American workforce is estimated to be comprised of workers age 55 and older, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But claims of age-based discrimination are already on the rise, says Michael North, assistant professor of management and organizations at New York University. Comparing the number of age discrimination complaints filed to the EEOC in 1999 to the number of claims now shows that the problem isn’t going away. This tension in modern workplaces, Mr. North says, often involves younger employees viewing older employees as overly aggressive, or selfishly refusing to step down from the C-suite and leadership roles. The stereotypical version of this kind of older worker — who continues to work past retirement age, sowing discord among younger employees who covet the senior position — is usually male. Part of that stereotype stems from a dearth of older women in senior roles. “One thing we’re really seeing is a lot of dominant older men people think aren’t willing to step aside, and you see resource constraints with millennials trying to get jobs, and we’re thinking of male CEOs refusing to relinquish power — so I think the exemplars are men,” says Ashley Martin, an assistant professor of organizational behavior at Stanford Graduate School of Business. “So when people harbor this age bias, they’re thinking ‘These men need to get out of the way.’ And women are forgotten — which allows them to escape.”)

— Divided America: Traditional values now scorned – ROBERT HUMPHRIES, Puyallup
https://www.thenewstribune.com/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/article224939410.html
(FROM THE LETTER: We already have a wall, but it divides Americans rather than defending our border. Deja vu, it’s1860 all over again, and we know where that led after the flash points of Harpers Ferry and Fort Sumpter. Anyone who would declare that our nation was built on the foundations of Western European civilization is now considered a racist. That alone confirms there is a deep schism/high wall already established within our nation. On one side are those who desire to defend the culture, religion and traditions that created the greatest form of self-governance (even with all its flaws) mankind has ever devised. On the other side are those who fervently dig at its very foundation, guided by their “diverse” cultures (or worse, the failed ideology of Lenin, Stalin, Mao or Che). One can only ask: When and where will there be a defining flash point? Certainly the verbiage of many elected Democratic members of Congress loudly proclaim in “political correct” terms that they are pushing for one — in their active support of illegal aliens flooding across open borders, or in their attacks on the 2nd Amendment.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Anti-Trumps say “In Business and Governing, Trump Seeks Victory in Chaos.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/20/us/donald-trump-leadership-style.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: His lack of public empathy for unpaid federal workers echoes his treatment of some construction workers, contractors and lawyers whom he refused to pay for their work on his real estate projects. The plight of the farmers and small-business owners wilting without the financial support pledged by his administration harks back to the multiple lenders and investors who financed Mr. Trump’s business ventures only to come up shortchanged. And his ever-changing positions (I’ll own the shutdown; you own the shutdown; the wall could be steel; it must be concrete; then again, it could be steel) have left heads in both parties spinning. Even after his televised proposal on Saturday to break the deadlock, Mr. Trump has no progress to show.)

Instead of $60,586/year, it is only $53,316/year, or $7,270/year less. SEE: http://www.opm.gov/retirement-services/csrs-information/computation/)
http://www.nprillinois.org/post/pension-buyout-participation-rate-higher-expected-early-numbers-show#stream/0
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Public employees hired before 2011–and who have worked for at least eight years–get an annual three percent boost when they collect their pensions. That adds to what the retirees bring in, but also the cost of Illinois’ pension debt. So, state lawmakers introduced the option as part of last year’s budget. State retirees can now choose to swap the three percent annual adjustment on their pensions for a lump sum payment–70 percent of what they would have gotten. They also get to keep their base pension and 1.5 percent adjustment each year. Tim Blair is the Executive Secretary for Illinois’ State Employees Retirement System. He says the deal isn’t a panacea.)
