(FROM THE ARTICLE: During the campaign, Trump promised a tightening of the federal government workforce; reportedly, his allies are working on plans to freeze hiring, end automatic raises, make it easier to fire incompetent workers, and convert federal retirement benefits to resemble more of a private sector, 401(k)-style plan. According to The Washington Post, Trump will likely seek counsel from Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who famously angered public sector unions in 2011 when he ended mandatory union dues, required public employees to begin paying a portion of their health and retirement benefits, and all but eliminated collective bargaining for government employees.)

http://www.wsj.com/articles/help-wanted-at-google-1481070488
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: The reality of a Donald Trump Presidency has been hard to process for much of Washington, but one example is especially notable. The good progressives at Google have announced they are looking for someone who can communicate with those strange humanlike life-forms: conservatives. Google recently posted a job opening (https://www.google.com/about/careers/search#!t=jo&jid=227695001&) in Washington for a manager of “Conservative Outreach and Public Policy Partnerships.” The employee “will act as Google’s liaison to conservative, libertarian and free market groups” and will be “part organizer, part advocate and part policy wonk.” Ideal candidates have eight years experience—and have attended at least one but no more than three Tea Party rallies. OK, we made that last one up. The company has been known to hire Republican politicos in the past, but Google will need greater political diversity soon. The company’s lobbyists, executives and other affiliates visited the Obama White House 427 times between 2009 and November 2015. The top lobbyist stopped by more than many of her counterparts in the industry combined. Google no doubt planned to continue wielding influence in a Hillary Clinton Administration. Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Google’s parent company, advised John Podesta and Mrs. Clinton’s campaign on digital strategy and targeting voters, though perhaps not in the Upper Midwest. A report from the Campaign for Accountability turned up 57 people affiliated with both Mrs. Clinton (whether her campaign, foundation or State Department) and Google entities. Now Google will have to scramble to preserve its enormous influence on everything from copyrights to privacy regulation. Whether Mr. Trump will indulge rent-seeking from Google and friends is anyone’s guess. But maybe Google’s Republican unicorn can host a staff seminar on the free-market philosophy that made the tech giant possible.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Slamming the media may be all the rage in U.S. politics, but Chicago isn’t immune.  The morning after the presidential election, the Cook County Bar Association — Chicago’s pre-eminent organization for black lawyers — issued a curious, stinging rebuke of veteran CBS2 investigative reporter Pam Zekman for a report in which she all but accused an elderly black judge of malingering to collect $250,000 in disability payments. (FROM THE ARTICLE: If you want to learn to hate America, your nearest public school or college is waiting for you.  If it is a university you want to attend, don’t worry about the cost, the government (taxpayers) will pick up the tab as student loans are about to be forgiven to the tune of $108 billion and will probably go much higher. Our schools across the country have created and nurtured millions of godless, America-hating, angry, statist, whiny, cry babies and we will all be paying dearly for it, now and in the future. In McAllen, Texas, teachers tried to force a teenager to sing the Mexican national anthem and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.  She refused saying it was against her beliefs.  She was subsequently thrown out of the class and given a failing grade for the day. University of Hawaii professor, Huanani-Kay Trask has taught students “We need to think very, very clearly about who the enemy is.  The enemy is the United States of America and everyone who supports it.” University of Southern California professor, Darry Sragow, teaches hate in his Regulation of Elections and Political Finance class, telling them “Republicans are stupid, racist losers,” and that they are “angry old white people.” University of Rhode Island history professor, Erik Loomis, tweeted, “I want Wayne LaPierre’s (NRA President) head on a stick.”  He asked, “Can we define dues to the NRA as contributing to a terrorist organization?” Scott Compton, an English teacher at Chapin High School, Chapin, SC, was put on administrative leave after he allegedly threw an American flag on the floor and stomped on it in front of his students.  He chose to resign.  He probably teaches at a college now. A geography teacher at Lumberton High School in Texas encourages students to dress in Islamic clothing and actually instructed them to refer to the 9/11 hijackers as “freedom fighters.”  They were also taught that the Holocaust was not genocide.  John Valastro, the superintendent of the school district, told Fox News that the teacher did absolutely nothing wrong. The schools may defend themselves by saying they teach critical thinking…hogwash!  They are intolerant of any opinions contrary to their own and the student with the guts to stick to his/her values risks paying dearly in poor grades and harassment. What do the students have to say?  A new video is circulating asking college students if they prefer Castro or Donald Trump.  Every student in the video struggled with the answer.  One student said, “Well that’s a tough question.”  Another student said, “If Donald Trump’s administration is what he said it would be, then Fidel Castro would have been the better leader to the Cuban people than Donald Trump will be.”  Another student: “I feel that he really changed Cuba in so many ways that really made possibilities for the Cuban people nearly endless.” Our education system has created a multitude of young, inexperienced, poorly educated, indoctrinated minds, speaking as with authority…scary! This problem is not limited or unusual.  It has become widespread and is now a threat to the very framework of our country and society.  Jihadists and Socialists/Communists can access considerable encouragement and support from many of our young people today.  So much so that there should be concern for a growing 5th column ready to strike at our very heart.  We had better take heed.)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Chicago’s deadliest neighborhoods get greenest cops – Mick Dumke and Frank Main  (DIERSEN: When were you green?  When I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates treated me like I was extremely green.  They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.  I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $77,899-$88,286. Much of the work that I did for IRS during those 5 1/2 years was similar to what I did for GAO including interviewing, investigation, data analysis, and report writing. I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul.  I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976.  Virtually all of my Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were Democrats who GAO had hired straight out of college. They had little or no work experience outside of GAO.  They wanted every GAO hire to start at the bottom like they did.  They had an extremely low opinion of executive branch employees and of union members like I had been at IRS for almost 9 years.  They exhibited an extremely low opinion my knowledge of IRS that I had gained by working for IRS for almost 9 years. They stressed that GAO had required me to accept an $18,459 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO.)

http://dailycaller.com/2016/11/30/immigration-is-about-economics-not-a-wall/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: According to new research from Pew Research, there are eight million illegal immigrants working or looking for work in the U.S., totaling five percent of the U.S. work force and the vast majority of the over 11 million illegal immigrants commonly estimated to be in the nation. While many of those immigrants pay taxes, there is a net cost to taxpayers of tens of billions of dollars per year, according to fluctuating estimates. Many of these costs are borne by state and local governments. Building an expensive wall won’t force any illegal immigrants, about 40 percent of whom have overstayed their visas after legally crossing our borders, to leave the country. Enacting an effective E-Verify program enforced by fining businesses who hire illegal immigrants would, by removing the financial incentive of employment. Likewise, Congress and Trump can simultaneously save taxpayers billions of dollars and remove at least some of the financial and legal protections provided to illegal immigrants by pulling funding from more than 200 sanctuary cities that refuse to work with federal customs officials.)

Kelly sat with Ron Gidwitz, a fundraiser for Donald Trump; investor and philanthropist Muneer Satter; Bill Kunkler, executive vice president of the Crown family’s CC Industries; and Todd Ricketts, the Cubs co-owner who says he’s “honored” to be considered for a position in Trump’s Cabinet. On stage at the Westin Hotel in Lombard, Kelly talked about living in Chicago. Before battling Trump on the air, she was a litigator at the Jones Day law firm in the city. Kelly said she has fond memories of guitar lessons at Old Town School of Folk Music and living in Roscoe Village. But the work wasn’t fulfilling. An episode of “Dr. Phil” hit home. “He said, ‘The only difference between you and someone you envy is that you settled for less.’” A career change followed, and now comes Kelly’s book: “Settle for More.”)

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20161130/news/161139969/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A Wheeling native is the driving force behind a new website that identifies professors from Illinois and around the country and claims they “discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.” The Professor Watchlist is part of Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk, a 23-year-old Wheeling High School graduate. “It’s no secret that some of America’s college professors are totally out of line,’ Kirk wrote in a recent blog post, adding it is “time to expose them.” The website describes itself as “an aggregated list of pre-existing news stories that were published by a variety of news organizations.” Most of the listings, which include professors’ names and photos, give as attribution campusreform.org, which is run by the conservative Leadership Institute. The Professor Watchlist says it will “continue to fight for free speech and the right for professors to say whatever they wish” but states “students, parents, and alumni deserve to know the specific incidents and names of professors that advance a radical agenda in lecture halls.” Kent State history professor Julio Pino, among those named on the site, told The New York Times the site is “a kind of normalizing of prosecuting professors, shaming professors, defaming professors.” According to the list, Darwin Pagnac, an instructor at Des Moines Area Community College, required students to write about climate-change skeptics and address their motivation and who funds their efforts. Dr. David Pook, a professor at Granite State College in New Hampshire, is listed for saying he helped write Common Core standards in order to end white privilege and “that as a white male in society I am given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn.” Professors from Northwestern University, DePaul University, Columbia College Chicago, the University of Illinois at Chicago and Loyola University Chicago are on the list. The Professor Watchlist says Columbia College chemistry and environmental science Professor Keith Kostecka called for the demise of the Tea Party and commented that House Speaker Paul Ryan should go kill himself. Kostecka told the Daily Herald “this all came about due to someone stealing my identity (from Facebook) several years ago and posting some terrible thing supposedly stated by me that I had and have no part of. I am on this list due to that very unfortunate series of events.” Northwestern University engineering professor Alan Butz is on the list for statements he made denying the Holocaust took place. Northwestern officials pointed Tuesday to a statement made by University President Henry S. Bienen in 2006, which noted, “There is no question that the Holocaust is a well-documented historical fact,” but Butz, a tenured professor, “is entitled to express his personal views, including on his personal web pages, as long as he does not represent such opinions as views of the university.”)

http://www.mystateline.com/news/kellogg-pulls-ads-from-breitbart
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The cereal brand Kellogg is pulling its advertising from Breitbart News because it disagrees with the right-wing website’s political views. “We regularly work with our media-buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company,” Kellogg said in a statement. “We recently reviewed the list of sites where our ads can be placed and decided to discontinue advertising on Breitbart.com. We are working to remove our ads from that site.” That decision comes amid scrutiny over Breitbart’s controversial populist, anti-immigrant worldview, and in the wake of Donald Trump’s decision to appoint former Breitbart executive chairman Steve Bannon as his chief White House strategist. Should other advertisers follow suit, it could lead to financial troubles for the site. But Breitbart says Kellogg is wrong to dismiss its loyal and extensive readership, which it claims totals 45 million unique visitors in the last month. “Breitbart News Network has built an engaged community of over 45 million loyal readers who are also a powerful consumer group that reflects the values of mainstreet America,” the company said in a statement. “Kellogg’s decision to blacklist one of the largest conservative media outlets in America is economic censorship of mainstream conservative political discourse. That is as un-American as it gets.” Breitbart CEO Larry Solov similarly told The Hollywood Reporter that Kellogg was “buying into a false, left-wing narrative that our 45 million readers are deplorables.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE:  A Chicago-based court will consider arguments that protections under the 1964 Civil Rights Act should expand to cover LGBT workers. The full 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will rehear Indiana teacher Kimberly Hively’s appeal Wednesday. It vacated a ruling by three of its own judges in July that the landmark workplace-discrimination law doesn’t cover sexual-orientation bias. Hively alleges a college didn’t hire her full time because she is a lesbian. The three-judge panel did criticize the lack of sexual-orientation workplace protections, but said they must come from Congress or the U.S. Supreme Court. President-elect Donald Trump is expected to nominate a social conservative to fill a Supreme Court vacancy, making High Court action on the issue uncertain.)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2016/11/28/continue-diversity-efforts-under-trump-civil-servants-urged/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: President-elect Donald Trump was barely mentioned at the White House Summit on Diversity and Inclusion in Government, but he wasn’t ignored. Top career civil servants and Obama administration political appointees gathered Monday to discuss the importance of a federal workforce that looks like America at all levels, just weeks before the new president, who was overwhelmingly rejected by voters of color, takes office. Trump gained political notoriety by fronting a racist birth certificate campaign to delegitimize Barack Obama, the first black president. Trump then ran a campaign that started with bashing Mexicans and was tarred by his vulgar misogyny. It speaks volumes that he was backed by the Ku Klux Klan, an American Nazi leader, and hailed with Nazi salutes, even as he rejected their support. With that context the summit, planned before his electoral college victory, took on even greater significance. No one was openly critical of Trump during the morning plenary sessions. That would have been impolitic, particularly given the graciousness of the president and first lady toward the incoming occupants of the White House. Indeed, participants seemed to expect the diversity effort to continue under Trump, despite his actions and statements, because it is “imperative,” in the words of acting office of personnel management director Beth Cobert. “The bottom line is simple,” she said in terms Trump can appreciate. “We cannot afford to leave talent and resources on the table.” Yet Trump’s reputation provides good reason for trepidation, as some speakers alluded to — if only obliquely. “Given the nature of this campaign on this issue of diversity and inclusion, I’m sure that there is more than the usual amount of concern and questions,” said Shaun Donovan, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) director. That is “all the more reason,” he added, that career officials “should be thinking about how you step up, how you join together in the coming months and years to make sure that this issue gets carried on.” Carrying on efforts to expand federal workforce diversity after Obama’s departure was a repeated message at the summit. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, deputy secretary of energy, said “the work we have begun to date has to be extended across administrations” and how deeply disappointing it would be if that work was “lost or dropped.” Although Gilbert Sandate, chair of the Coalition for Fairness for Hispanics in Government, said the Obama administration has had “inconsistent, spotty success in advancing diversity,” he also praised the president for establishing “one of the most ambitious, multipronged, systematic efforts to institutionalize hiring excellence in government.” The summit grew from Obama’s 2011 Executive Order “establishing a coordinated government-wide initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the federal workforce.” Sandate does not expect similar efforts under Trump. “Trump’s stated and known views about diversity and inclusion in general … do not bode well for a government workforce that looks like America anytime soon,” said Sandate, who was not at the summit. “I’m afraid the challenge under the Trump administration will be to dig in and fight to hold onto the diversity and inclusion gains made thus far, lest they be quickly eroded or eliminated entirely.” Cobert, who this year said that “one of the most challenging barriers to diversity and inclusion is unconscious bias,” cited three examples of “affirmative steps” taken by the administration “to build a diverse workforce”: In November, the federal government “exceeded the president’s goal of hiring 100,000 people with disabilities into the federal workforce over five years.” The Agriculture Department’s use of “blind applications” that don’t include the names of candidates helped increase the percentage of women in its Senior Executive Service (SES) to 39 percent, an increase of almost 50 percent. The Federal Aviation Administration’s “concerted effort to broaden the recruitment effort” led to a significant increase in job offers to Hispanic candidates and women. “These are examples of real progress,” Cobert said in prepared remarks. True. Yet these success stories also tell us how far away parity remains because of the racism, sexism and implicit bias that makes real inclusion an elusive goal. Female senior executives, for example, remain well below their percentage of the general population at the Agriculture Department and across government. The FAA’s efforts resulted in 28 percent of job offers to women, although women hold up half the sky, as Mao Zedong reminded us. Governmentwide, women were 34.4 percent of the SES workforce in fiscal 2015. The Hispanic-Latino category was a minuscule 2.9 percent, according to an OPM report. The percentage of African American senior executives, however, has increased considerably during the Obama years. In 2008, before he took office, black employees were 8.2 percent of the SES. That had increased to 11.3 in 2015. Without mentioning the president-elect, Sherwood-Randall capsulized the call for civil servants to continue the fight for greater diversity under Trump with this simple directive: “Speak truth to power.”)

Goodwin, a former Chicago Public Schools teacher who is principal and chairman at Inland Real Estate Group in Oak Brook, holds the invitation-only, private luncheon for his friends. It always features a name-brand speaker (George W. Bush and Bruce Rauner in 2014) and this year, that speaker was Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, who is promoting her new book, “Settle for More.” If your invitation got lost in the mail, don’t fret. Here’s a recap of what you missed. *Selfie opps with World Series champion Chicago Cubs Kyle Schwarber, David Ross and Pedro Strop. The three hung out in a roped-off corral before lunch, smiling for photos with dozens of guests. Also on hand: Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts, who is reportedly being considered for a cabinet position by Donald Trump. *Wayne Messmer, former Cubs public-address announcer, delivering “God Bless America” and “The Star Spangled Banner” before lunch was served. Messmer, who has performed the National Anthem for Blackhawks, Bears and White Sox games, delivered straight by-the-book performances of both songs. *Lunch with 140 politicians. According to Goodwin, elected officials made up a quarter of the lunch bunch. Goodwin called on two, Illinois Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti and Gov.-elect Eric Holcomb (R) of Indiana, to stand and be recognized. *Mass-autographed copies of Kelly’s book. $32.39. *Holcomb’s 40-minute interview with Kelly, on a stage that held two Christmas trees, two American flags and a menorah. Kelly, careful to the point of near blandness, said she thought the media had learned “very little” during the campaign; that she hoped the “magnanimous Trump, not the thin-skinned, petty Trump” would inhabit the Oval Office; that she would have loved to have interviewed Hillary Clinton during the election cycle; and that Steve Bannon, Trump’s pick for chief strategist, tops her interview wish list. *A two-minute video about New Directions Housing, Goodwin’s nonprofit that provides affordable housing for people who need it, and a gentle ask to contribute. Rodger Brown, New Directions president, said the luncheon, which is primarily a social function and not a fundraiser, usually brings in about $50,000 for New Directions.)

— Megyn Kelly’s top interview choice? Steve Bannon  ‘What’s wrong with centrist?’ she asks, thinking of Fox News – NATASHA KORECKI
http://www.politico.com/states/illinois/story/2016/11/megyn-kellys-top-interview-choice-steve-bannon-107658
(FROM THE ARTICLE:  President-elect Donald Trump’s top White House strategist Steve Bannon hasn’t had kind words for Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly; still, Kelly said Monday she’d like to sit down with him one-on-one. Bannon has criticized both Fox News and Kelly specifically, telling the Hollywood Reporter: “Rupert is a globalist and never understood Trump. To him, Trump is a radical. Now they’ll go centrist and build the network around Megyn Kelly.” “My response to that is, we already are centrist,” Kelly said Monday. “What is wrong with centrist? Must the whole nation be polarized now, even the news organizations?” Kelly, visiting here as part of a national tour to promote her new memoir, Settle For More, was interviewed by Indiana Governor-elect Eric Holcomb at the private event, which was hosted by Inland Real Estate CEO Dan Goodwin as part of a holiday fund-raiser. “To delegitimize all of the media has real implications that as a journalist, I think are dangerous,” Kelly said. “And we should put the pause button on accepting this narrative that the media are scum and they’re disgusting and they’re all in the tank and they’re not trustworthy, which I do not believe. I just do not think it’s true.” She also spoke of the amount of “disinformation” during the campaign. “I do think this year was a free-for-all,” Kelly said. “To try to fact check (Trump) would be exhausting. He really told several …. things that were untrue by the hour in the course of an hour. And it was sort of accepted … I hope that doesn’t set a precedent for other politicians.” Kelly marveled that Hillary Clinton never appeared on her show though she said she tried to book her throughout election. “She actually isn’t on my list anymore.” What does she think the media has learned from this past election? Kelly said she did think there was some soul-searching by journalists who completely wrote off Donald Trump and found themselves shocked by the outcome on Election Day. But for the most part: “Very little,” she said, to laughter. “We’re not an introspective group. I think the media in my experience … most of the journalists I know are tough, they’re shoe-leather reporters, they care about getting it right. Nine out of 10 of them make no money. They don’t have any kind of glamorous life and they’re just trying to be First Amendment advocates.”)
— Todd Ricketts ‘honored’ to be under consideration for post with Trump – NATASHA KORECKI
http://www.politico.com/states/illinois/story/2016/11/todd-ricketts-talks-possible-trump-cabinet-post-role-in-fundraising-107645
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts said on Monday that it is “an honor” to be under consideration for a top post in the Trump administration. He met with the president-elect last week. Trump has discussed naming Ricketts as deputy commerce secretary. Ricketts is the son of billionaire TD Ameritrade founder and conservative donor Joe Ricketts, and the brother of Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts, a Republican. Another brother, Tom Ricketts is chairman of the Cubs. “The reality is, it was an honor to be invited to interview. If something comes of it, that’s great. If nothing happens, I still will have felt honored to be part of the process,” Ricketts told POLITICO Illinois. “We had a really good conversation but nothing was set in stone. A thousand things can happen, so we’ll wait and see. We’ll wait until it’s all officially, official, official.” Family members were not supportive of Trump during the primary season, something the candidate noticed. At one point, Trump tweeted that the family “better be careful, they have a lot to hide!” Trump then threatened to launch ads attacking the family, “telling them all what a rotten job they’re doing with the Chicago Cubs.” In the general election, however, family members came through for Trump. They took control of a super PAC called Future45 and Todd Ricketts reportedly helped raise $30 million from other groups, while Joe and Marlene Ricketts donated $1 million to groups supporting Trump. Ricketts said Monday that he and Trump laughed off their personal differences. “We supported other candidates in the primary, but there was never a time when we weren’t going to support the Republican nominee for the general election,” Ricketts said. Ricketts said his fundraising apparatus ended up filling a void left by other Republicans who traditionally played that role, like Karl Rove. “We had an entity and an organization and relationships that made it easier for us to be that entity to support Trump than many others,” Ricketts said. Ricketts said he believes there is a mandate to address working class wages. “We’ve seen wages stagnate among working class Americans and those are the people who put [Trump] into office,” he said. “So the first thing we need to do is generate some economic growth. I think the quickest way to do that would be some tax reform, we need Dodd-Frank reform, we need Obamacare reform. And with those things I think we’re in the right direction.”)

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/28/us/professor-watchlist-is-seen-as-threat-to-academic-freedom.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A new website that accuses nearly 200 college professors of advancing “leftist propaganda in the classroom” and discriminating against conservative students has been criticized as a threat to academic freedom. The site, Professor Watchlist, which first appeared Nov. 21, says it names those instructors who “advance a radical agenda in lecture halls.” “We aim to post professors who have records of targeting students for their viewpoints, forcing students to adopt a certain perspective, and/or abuse or harm students in any way for standing up for their beliefs,” wrote Matt Lamb, an organizer of the site. The Professor Watchlist is a project of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organization that says its mission is to educate students about “true free market values.” Charlie Kirk, its founder and executive director, wrote in a blog post that “it’s no secret that some of America’s college professors are totally out of line” and that it was time to expose them. But Julio C. Pino, an associate professor of history at Kent State University in Ohio who is among those named on the site, said in an interview, “What we are seeing with this site is a kind of normalizing of prosecuting professors, shaming professors, defaming professors.” “The broader issue it raises is: What kind of country is America going to become in the next four years?” he added. Professor Pino said professors should not fight the creators of the list directly but instead seek allies on and off campus to address what gave rise to the atmosphere that allowed the website to flourish in the first place.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/success/tca-your-social-media-ranting-could-sink-your-job-prospects-20161118-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Did things get a little heated on your social media feed after the recent election? Be careful. It could prevent you from getting hired. Donald Trump got the top job in America despite his penchant for shooting from the lip on Twitter, but other job seekers aren’t so lucky. More and more, an ill-tempered tweet or a crude Facebook rant can disqualify you from a job. According to an April survey by the job site CareerBuilder, 60 percent of employers comb social networking sites to research job candidates. Of those, 46 percent said they’d reject a candidate if they found “provocative” photos, videos or information; 43 percent object to information about drinking or drugs; and 33 percent said they’d toss a candidate for “discriminatory comments related to race, religion, gender, etc.” An offensive social media post can not only keep you out of a job, it can also cost you the one you have, of course. Just last month in Georgia, Jane Wood Allen, a Forsyth County Schools paraprofessional, was canned after a Facebook post in which she called first lady Michelle Obama “a gorilla.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Political data analyst Scott Kennedy recently did a deep dive of Illinois election results and found, among other tidbits, that even though Republican Illinois Comptroller Leslie Munger of Lincolnshire lost statewide to Democratic Chicago City Clerk Susana Mendoza, she outperformed Republicans at the top of the ticket — including President-elect Donald Trump and departing U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk of Highland Park — everywhere but in southern Illinois. Munger’s performance was particularly strong in the collar counties, where she took an average of 51 percent of the vote, compared to Trump’s 41 percent and Kirk’s 45 percent. In suburban Cook County, Munger took 39 percent of the vote, while Trump took 30 percent and Kirk took 33 percent. For more on the election, check out Kennedy’s site, www.illinoiselectiondata.com.)

Democrats stereotype negatively those who are Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders, and those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.  That is one reason why Trump won and Clinton lost.)

— Breaking down the blue-collar workforce – Chris Gelbach  (DIERSEN: Are/were you a member of the blue-collar workforce?  I was 1964-1972.  While you were a member of the blue-collar workforce, did you hold jobs that minorities and women could have held, that is, did you take jobs away from minorities and from women?  I did.  I washed dishes 1964-1966; I cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline in 1966; I delivered mail 1966-1969; I worked on an automobile assembly line and as a security guard in 1970; and I pumped gasoline 1970-1972. In my defense, few minorities and few women wanted the blue-collar jobs that I held.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always demonized, denigrated, and condemned all the jobs that I have held as being “bad jobs.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: In 2013, the working class accounted for nearly two-thirds of the country’s entire civilian labor force between the ages of 18 and 64. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, people of color will become a majority of the American working class in 2032, well before the overall U.S. population becomes “majority-minority” in 2043. The subset of the working class aged 25 to 34 will be majority-minority just five years from now in 2021. As a June 2016 Economic Policy Institute report on the topic by Wilson notes, the wages of all gender, racial and ethnic groups have failed to keep pace with the nation’s economy-wide productivity growth between 1979 and 2014. The hardest-hit workers in this respect have been Latino men, who have seen their hourly wages decrease by an inflation-adjusted 9.8 percent over this period. Second were black men, whose wages have decreased by 7.2 percent. White males, in contrast, have seen their wages decrease by a significantly lower 3.1 percent over the same period. Working-class wages for women, meanwhile, trail those of working-class men across all ethnic groups. White working-class women make 81 percent of the median hourly wage of white working-class men. But even here, race supersedes gender to some degree, with black men making 78 percent of what white men do, and Latino men making 76 percent.)

https://pjmedia.com/trending/2016/11/27/hypocrite-megyn-kelly-i-have-no-political-ideology-im-a-soulless-lawyer-at-heart/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sure, Megyn: “I am not an ideologue. I always laugh because when I was coming up the ranks at Fox News, the left thought I was always in the tank for the Republicans because they always see you through a certain prism. And then during this year of Donald Trump, now the right thinks I’m in the tank for the Never Trumpers or the liberals. But the truth is, I’m not in the tank, I’m not swimming in the tank at all. I’m off to the side of the tank. I don’t even have my bathing suit on. I’m just watching the tank…I have no political ideology. I’m a soulless lawyer at heart. I can see both sides of every argument.”  All those who believe Megyn, please raise your hand. No one. Ah. That’s what I thought. I watched the debates and I’ve watched quite a lot of  “The Kelly File.” As such, I know what her ideology is: establishmentarianism. That’s what Megyn Kelly is all about. She loves the establishment of both parties. That’s clear from the way she approaches them … and that’s also one of the major reasons why Rupert Murdoch loves her as much as he does; after all, he too is an establishmentarian. The only reason Fox News eventually decided to support Trump is that they realized they couldn’t bring him down. When you can’t beat them, join them.)

— The left’s lunatic ‘hate’ hysteria – Editorial (DIERSEN: Who promotes hatred of Trump and hatred of Trump’s supporters in your precinct, in your municipality, in your township/ward, in your county, in Illinois, in America, and across the world?)
http://nypost.com/2016/11/27/the-lefts-lunatic-hate-hysteria/
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Just because President-elect Donald Trump has unequivocally disavowed and condemned white nationalists and alt-right types who cheered his victory, don’t expect the left and its media allies to end their hysteria about the orgy of “hate” they claim is sweeping America. Trump made no bones about where he stands: “I don’t want to energize the group,” he told The New York Times. “I’m not looking to energize them . . . and I disavow the group. Disavow and condemn.” That prompted some alt-righters to complain that they’d been “bamboozled by The Donald.” What’s really driving this is the left’s desperate denial of the simple fact that Trump emerged victorious by winning over people who’d previously voted for Barack Obama. If you won’t admit that the left no longer speaks to working-class whites, then it’s easier to blame “a basket of deplorables,” as Jason Riley notes in The Wall Street Journal. So they point to opportunists like ex-Klan leader David Duke or white nationalist Richard Spencer as evidence that a new wave of intolerance elected Trump. Bull. Spencer attracted barely 200 people at his conference, with its made-for-video “Hail Trump” salutes. Yet the media responded slavishly with wall-to-wall coverage. Duke realizes that anything positive he says about Trump will be covered – so he keeps praising him. That such “watchdogs” as the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center have bought in to this hysteria proves they’ve become blatant partisans. (The ADL seems unbothered by the anti-Israel record of Rep. Keith Ellison, who’s bidding to chair the Democratic Party.) The left is determined to undermine Trump’s legitimacy, so expect to see this nonsense continue. Just realize that it bears no resemblance to reality.)

INQUISITER
— Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, Megyn Kelly, And Sean Hannity Rule November Cable News Ratings – Daryl Deino
http://www.inquisitr.com/3749369/fox-news-bill-oreilly-megyn-kelly-and-sean-hannity-rule-november-cable-news-ratings/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Fox News was easily the ratings winner during one of the most divisive election months in recent history. For the month of November (ratings are averaged up until November 22 at Showbuzz Daily), Bill O’Reilly comes in first place with an average of 4.03 million viewers a night, while Megyn Kelly comes in second place with an average of 3.37 million a night. Sean Hannity, Fox News’ rising star, has averaged 2.94 million. It’s important to note that on some nights, these stars didn’t even appear on their shows. This especially rings true when talking about Bill O’Reilly. The last time O’Reilly hosted The O’Reilly Factor before heading off on a well-earned vacation, Bill talked about Trump’s closed-door meeting with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. “As you may know, the nation’s largest town falling apart literally with construction projects clogging almost every road in Manhattan, beggars all over the place and a defiant mayor who says he will not cooperate with the federal government on illegal immigration. Something he told Mr. Trump today,” O’Reilly angrily said before showing a video clip where de Blasio says that NYC and other cities will do all they can to protect their residents and make sure that families are not torn apart. Bill O’Reilly then handed the segment over to Fox News correspondent Doug McKelway, who said that the mayor was not surprised to see dozens of TV cameras and 25 reporters because de Blasio wanted people to know he will fight Donald Trump tooth and nail on the issue. However, de Blasio did tell reporters that the talk was productive, and he realizes that the ball is now in Donald Trump’s court. Megyn Kelly has dealt with the issue of illegal immigration on The Kelly File this month, but Kelly seemed more interested in seeing if Donald Trump would follow through on his promise to pursue criminal charges against Hillary Clinton. “For months on the campaign trail, Mr. Trump attacked his rival for conducting the highly classified business of the United States over a private, unsecured email server — all while she was Secretary of State,” Kelly said at the very beginning of her show this past Tuesday. Then, Megyn Kelly played a tape where Donald Trump said Hillary was weak, pathetic, and should be in jail for what she did with her emails. Another tape showed Donald Trump discussing the issue with Anderson Cooper on CNN. Trump told Cooper that everybody knows Hillary should be in prison. As Megyn Kelly noted, Trump’s supporters screamed “Lock her up!” at many of his rallies, including one in Pennsylvania. Kelly had Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer on, and he said that Trump’s decision was disturbing. He believes Trump should not be talking about this at all, and it’s unethical for a president-elect to try and interrupt an FBI investigation. However, Congressman Sean Duffy told Megyn Kelly that he disagreed since the Clinton investigation has been played out as much as possible. Sean Hannity wasn’t happy with Trump’s decision either. But he has been more upset with the way the mainstream press has been treating Trump and actually called on the president-elect to boycott the media. Politico reported the story on Wednesday. “Fox News commentator Sean Hannity said that until journalists admit to colluding with Hillary Clinton’s campaign, President-elect Donald Trump should reconsider granting traditional access to reporters.” Trump can do this and speak directly to you, the America people, without having his words twisted and taken out of context. Why not do that?” Hannity asked, referring to the fact Trump put out his own video announcing his executive actions in his first 100 days in office. Of course, Sean Hannity suffered a lot of backlash in the media. But the anger against Hannity is what is propelling him very close to beating Megyn Kelly in the ratings. Do you think Sean Hannity can beat Megyn Kelly in December? Let us know your thoughts and predictions in the comments section.)

— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Ever-increasingly, anti-Trumps blame Trump and his supporters for political harassment.  The presumption is that the majority harasses the minority.  Did Clinton or Trump win your precinct, your municipality, your township/ward, and your county and by what margins?  Clinton got 211 votes in my precinct, but Trump got only 137.  Before the general election, anti-Trumps in my precinct told me that they were going to vote for Clinton to punish me and to punish all Republicans because Trump had won the Republican presidential nomination.  In my precinct in the March 15, 2016 Republican presidential primary, 93 voted for Kasich, 49 for Cruz, 21 for Trump, and 14 for Rubio.

WASHINGTON TIMES
— Is it time to give Donald Trump a chance? – Judson Phillips  (DIERSEN: My Democrat superiors in the federal government gave me a chance. At GAO, they gave me almost 18 years to become a Democrat; at IRS, they gave me almost 9 years; and at the Post Office, they gave me almost 3 years.  If I had become a Democrat, the federal government would have promoted me into its Senior Executive Service long before I was 40 years old.  But if I had become a Democrat, I would have had to discriminate against federal employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/nov/27/obama-appointees-burrowing-in-for-career-federal-j/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Congressional Republicans are warning the departing Obama administration against moving any more political appointees into career-service government jobs, a practice known as “burrowing in.”  Government auditors found 69 Obama political appointees who moved into career jobs from 2010 to 2015, and 17 of them didn’t receive the required approval from the Office of Personnel Management. With President-elect Donald Trump preparing to fill about 4,000 political appointments, Republican lawmakers say there is more motivation for Democratic appointees to try to latch onto protected career positions. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson, Wisconsin Republican, has asked acting OPM Director Beth Cobert for weekly reports on all conversions or attempted conversions, including the names, titles and salaries of federal employees who have switched from political appointments to career positions since June 30. “With the results of the presidential election, there could be an increase in attempts by the nearly 4,000 political appointees across the federal government to convert to career positions,” Mr. Johnson wrote in a letter last week. “I am concerned that, due to the seniority of political appointees at many agencies, there could be pressure to approve these conversions outside the standard merit-based approach to federal hiring.”)

WORLD SOCIALIST WEB SITE
— Incoming Trump administration prepares assault on federal workers – Nick Barrickman  (DIERSEN: Because I was a federal employee for almost 30 years, my critics/opponent, their operatives, and their dupes have always foisted negative federal employee stereotypes on me. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 33.)
http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2016/11/25/trum-n25.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The incoming Trump administration has singled out civilian federal employees for attacks on jobs, employment security and pensions. According to the Washington Post, “President-elect Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress are drawing up plans to take on the government bureaucracy they have long railed against, by eroding job protections and grinding down benefits that federal workers have received for a generation.”  The federal civil service, which consists of over 2.75 million workers, excluding members of the armed forces, the judiciary and elected officials, has come under relentless attack from the political right for decades. Right-wing propaganda depicts federal workers as overpaid and privileged drones in an attempt to divide the working class and divert anger over declining living standards and growing inequality against a section of the working class itself. The aim is to dismantle whatever remains of job protections and benefits that are based on civil service laws and contracts with federal employee unions. This is despite the best efforts of the unions over many years to help impose job cuts and wage and benefit concessions. In 2012, House Republicans proposed a 10 percent federal workforce reduction as part of their fiscal budget for that year. According to the Post, the incoming administration will implement “[h]iring freezes, an end to automatic raises, a green light to fire poor performers, a ban on union business on the government’s dime and less generous pensions.” In addition, the Trump White House will seek “guidance” from the Republican governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, who in 2011 provoked mass protests at the state capital by shredding public employee rights and imposing sweeping concessions on public workers. The new administration will also follow the example of Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who, as governor of Indiana, tied state worker pay to performance ratings. According to Jason Chaffetz, Republican congressman from Utah and chairman of the House Committee on Government Oversight and Reform, the plan to slash federal employee pensions will be modeled on his home state, which recently replaced defined benefit pensions with market-based defined contribution plans such as 401(k)s. The switch from traditional pensions will initially affect newly hired workers, according to press reports. The assault on federal workers is based on the ten-point “Contract with the American Voter” released by Donald Trump in late October. The statement declared that within its first 100 days in office, the Trump administration would enact “a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce the federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health).” The Post quotes former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a member of Trump’s transition team, as saying that Stephen Bannon, Trump’s chief White House strategist, will lead the attack on federal workers. Until signing on as the head of Trump’s presidential campaign last August, Bannon headed the Breitbart News web site, a platform for the fascistic alt-right that regularly rails against the so-called “privileged class” of government workers in Washington. Contrary to the myth of a ballooning “big government” promoted by the right wing, the US civil service has undergone numerous cutbacks in its workforce under both Republican and Democratic presidents. As a result, the number of federal employees today is consistent with the number employed in the 1960s, despite a near-doubling of the US population since then. A likely precedent for Trump’s plan to slash workers’ pay and job protections is the 2014 Veterans’ Choice Act, signed into law by President Obama. Passed during the scandal at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) that year, the law facilitates the firing of VA workers while giving employees less than a week to appeal their dismissal. Prior to the Veterans’ Choice Act, workers had the option of appealing their dismissal to the Merit Systems Protection Board, established as part of the civil service system to prevent politically motivated firings. Under a Trump administration, such firings are likely to become the rule. During the presidential campaign, Trump regularly declared that if elected he would shut down government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Education. At the same time, Trump is pledging a massive increase in military spending and packing his administration-in-waiting with military figures. The planned assault on federal workers exposes the cynicism behind repeated statements by Democratic Party leaders—from Obama and incoming Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer to Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren—suggesting that Trump may enact measures to improve the lot of workers and pledging their readiness to collaborate with him. The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the largest federal employee union, has remained silent on Trump’s agenda. On November 9, the day after the election, AFGE President J. David Cox Sr. released a brief press statement declaring, “We ?will work with the Trump administration on areas of common ground, as we have with every administration for generations.”)

We spend more on veterinary care for our dogs than the average person spends for his own medical care in the Dominican Republic, Egypt, India and many other countries. RUSS STEWART
— CLINTON GOT 83.7% OF CHICAGO VOTE, BUT THERE WERE STILL 134,792 “DEPLORABLES” (DIERSEN: I am a deplorable, that is, I am a Republican. If I had more time, I would analyze the DuPage vote and the Milton Township vote to identify those precincts which have the most deplorabes in total and as a percentage of registered voters.)
http://www.russstewart.com/articles/2016/11-23-2016.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Mark Twain popularized the saying that there are “lies, damn lies, and statistics.” In Chicago, and by extrapolation Cook County and Illinois, there were truths, damn truths and stunning statistics on Nov. 8. The most fundamental truth is that when a candidate such as Hillary Clinton wins Chicago 907,920-134,792, a margin of 773,128 votes, Illinois is gone. There is no way for a Republican to counteract that vote margin in the Collar Counties and Downstate. Clinton won the state by 859,319 votes, with Chicago supplying 90 percent of that margin. Chicago may be a “sanctuary city,” but Republicans are vanishing quicker than illegal aliens. Wait a minute, are any “undocumenteds” vanishing? Mitt Romney got 148,181 votes in Chicago in 2012, while Donald Trump got 134,792 votes, a paltry 12.4 percent and a diminution of 13,389 votes, on Nov. 8. Trump won a majority in 25, or 1.2 percent, of Chicago’s 2,116 precincts, four in the 41st Ward and two in the 38th Ward on the Northwest Side and 13 in the 19th Ward, four in the 23rd Ward and two in the 13th Ward on the Southwest Side. Trump averaged an anemic 63 votes per precinct. Bruce Rauner averaged 64 votes in 2014, but Pat Quinn got 407,107 fewer votes than Clinton did. On that trajectory, by 2028 or soon thereafter, the Republican vote may fall under 5 percent countywide and Republicans would lose their ballot line. Clinton got 95.4 percent of the vote in Chicago’s 18 black-majority wards, 87.1 percent in the 11 Hispanic-majority wards and 84.6 percent in the seven affluent, mostly white, Lakefront wards. Chicago has become “Manhattan West,” or maybe “San Francisco East,” conspicuously, congenitally and compulsively liberal. As for Chicago’s black wards, they’re “Harlem West,” with Trump’s 13,286 votes here only slightly exceeding his total in New York’s predominantly black neighborhood. Trump got 3 percent or less of the vote in 11 of the 18 black-majority wards. He lost the 24th Ward 15,932-245. Trump averaged 738 votes in those 18 wards. The Republicans have ceased to be a nuisance, and they now are a nonentity. Truth number one is that, like the rest of the country, Clinton did not replicate Obama’s 2012 showing among black voters. Obama got 422,727 votes in the black-majority Chicago wards in 2012, while Clinton got 363,621 in this election, a falloff of 59,100 votes, as is shown in the attached chart. In Illinois that decline didn’t matter, as Clinton’s vote increased among Hispanics and white liberals. You can’t lose Illinois coming out of Chicago with a 907,920-134,792, 83.7 percent, majority, which is a margin of 773,128 votes. However, Clinton got 54,818 more votes in Chicago than Obama got in 2012. Clinton won Illinois by 859,319 votes, almost as good as Obama’s 884,296-vote margin in 2012. In other urbanized Great Lakes states, such as Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, a 10 to 15 percent decline in the black vote tipped those states to Trump. Truth number two is that, unlike the rest of the country, white male blue collar workers and those in law enforcement failed to defect to Trump in significant numbers. Only in the Far Northwest Side 41st Ward, which is chock full of cops and firefighters, did Trump even come close. The Clinton-Trump vote was 14,042-11,457, a 52.3 percent win and a margin of 2,585 votes, with Trump winning a majority in four of 47 precincts and getting 40 to 49 percent of the vote in another 28. Clinton actually did better there than Obama, who won 13,134-11,048. Clinton got 908 more votes than Obama got in 2012, while Trump, who got 42.6 percent of the vote in the ward, ran just 409 votes ahead of Romney, who got 44.9 percent. Given all the hysteria and the nasty $4 million Michael McAuliffe-Merry Marwig race for state representative, turnout in the 41st Ward increased from 24,634 in 2012 to 26,867 in this election. The 41st Ward encompasses Edison Park, Norwood Park and Oriole Park, and it is to Chicago what Staten Island is to New York, an enclave of conservativism. McAuliffe won the ward 11,050-7,783. Debatably, the Trump vote was more of a positive than a negative for McAuliffe. McAuliffe said that he had “a lot of Trump negativity” in the Park Ridge areas of the district, but that wasn’t the case in the 41st Ward, which has 34 precincts in the district. In fact, the Nov. 8 statistics are astounding. On the Northwest Side, except for the recalcitrant 41st Ward, the Clinton vote was 5 to 10 percent greater than the 2012 Obama vote.)

WORKER’S WORLD
— Trump targets federal workers – Carl Lewis  (DIERSEN: When you first learn that someone is a federal employee or a retired federal employee, what does that make you think of that person?  Ever-increasingly, individuals, organizations, companies, governments, and countries despise if not hate federal employees and federal retirees.  I was a federal employee for almost 30 years and I have been a federal retiree for more than 19 years.)
http://www.workers.org/2016/11/23/trump-targets-federal-workers/#.WDbIDhHxZZI
(FROM THE ARTICLE: There is evidence that the incoming Trump administration plans to target federal workers, including privatizing the Department of Veteran Affairs, to reduce the size of the federal workforce and substantially cut wages. Among the right-wing ideologues and advisors to Donald Trump on federal workers is Newt Gingrich, coauthor of the infamous “Contract with America” (more aptly called a “Contract ON ‘America’ “) released by the Republican Party in 1994. It outlined austerity plans to decimate the working class as a whole and to specifically target federal workers. Gingrich was asked how this change would be managed in an interview with Lisa Rein of the Washington Post. “So there are two groups in Washington on this issue who are initially opposed,” stated Gingrich. “First you have the hard-line federal employee unions. They’re like the teachers union in New York. They are parallels. They are the group, that no matter how sick it is, they have a vested interest in the old order.” (Oct. 19). These cryptic comments refer to limiting collective bargaining rights, removing due process rights and cutting wages. Gingrich holds up Scott Walker, the anti-union governor of Wisconsin who devastated public employee unions and employee pensions, as a model. Gingrich used the example of short-staffed VA workers in Texas who were forced by management, under penalty of being charged with “insubordination,” to make phony appointments for veterans and then list them as “no-shows.” Instead of placing the blame where it should be — on incompetent and corrupt management officials who received bonuses for the volume of calls received and answered — he blames the workers who are the victims. This scam was finally exposed by an employee whistleblower and led to a shakeup in the agency. Like sharks smelling blood and going into a feeding frenzy, the ruling class began to use this example to put federal workers further under the chopping block. Paul Ryan, current Speaker of the House, views federal workers as a “privileged class.” When Ryan sat on the House Ways and Means Committee, which determines budgets for federal agencies, he proposed freezing workers’ pay for five years; raising the bar on performance standards; increasing the workload on employees by not backfilling when workers retire, resign or are terminated; and decreasing employee leave time, among other measures. Ryan’s ideas were copied from the right-wing Heritage Foundation’s “Blueprint for Reform.” Jessica Klement, the legislative director for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, refuted the blueprint: “The report starts with the assumption that federal pay and benefits are overly generous, and not in line with the private sector, and therefore need to be decreased. This assumption is wholly inaccurate. Most federal jobs lag behind their private sector counterparts.” The Federal Salary Council says federal employees are underpaid by an average of 35 percent. (fedsmith.com, July 16) Trump, however, plans to increase pay and benefits as well as new hires for the National Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement in order to carry out his racist and anti-immigrant plans.)
