August 24 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— I urge all Wheaton residents who oppose the sale of recreational pot to speak during the public comment period at all Wheaton meetings against the sale of recreational pot in Wheaton. The next Wheaton meeting starts at 7:00 PM, Monday, August 26. I urge all DuPage County residents who oppose the sale of recreational pot to speak during the public comment period at all DuPage County meetings against the sale of recreational pot in the unincorporated areas of DuPage County. The next DuPage County meeting starts at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 27. At previous Wheaton City Council meetings, Bob Cherry, B. J. Slinger, Tim Whelan, and I have called for Wheaton to ban the sale of recreational pot in Wheaton. At previous DuPage County Board meetings, Dick Furstenau and I have called for DuPage County to ban the sale of recreational pot in the unincorporated areas of DuPage County. – Dave Diersen

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— At its regular meeting 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 27, 2019, the DuPage County Board will have an “Informational Discussion of Cannabis as it Relates to Zoning Regulations.” During the public comment period at the start of the meeting, I will again urge DuPage County to be the first county in Illinois to ban the sale of pot in its unincorporated areas.

Because of me, and because of what I do for you as your GOPUSA Illinois Editor, “DuPage County Board Chairman and County Board Staff” have issued “DuPage County Media Guidelines.” SEE: https://www.dupageco.org/CountyBoard/Docs/61283/  Obviously, the guidelines were issued a) to paint me as not being a legitimate “media member,” b) to discourage/stop me from asserting that I am a “media member,” and c) to discourage/stop me from “lobbying or paid advertising, publicity or promotion work.”

What is the Daily Herald’s position on these guidelines? All Daily Herald employees constantly lobby for the Democrat, Libertarian, and/or Green party platforms.

I should write a book about those who have worked the hardest since 2000 a) to paint me as not being a legitimate “media member,” b) to discourage/stop me from asserting that I am a “media member,” and c) to discourage/stop me from “lobbying or paid advertising, publicity or promotion work.” I would focus on those who a) promote pot, b) reject planks in the Republican Party platform and/or the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks, c) reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution, d) focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, e) were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed, and/or f) are operatives or dupes for the aforesaid. – Dave Diersen
http://www.gopillinois.com

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Who supports you? Individuals, organizations, companies, and governments that are the following do NOT support me: a) those that are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time and b) those that promote pot; reject planks in the Republican Party platform and/or the Illinois Republican Party platform and work against those like me who support those planks; reject the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling and work against those like me who support that resolution; focus on destroying those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate; were defendants in lawsuits that I have filed; and/or are operatives or dupes for the aforesaid. – Dave Diersen

The skillset is very similar to that used in deciding matters brought before the city council, including fairmindedness, the ability to absorb large records and ultimately render a decision.” “A firm belief that process matters” also factors into both jobs. “As companies who file protests with GAO understand, while we might not necessarily agree with them in the end, each argument raised is heard and carefully considered,” Wu said. “The same goes for my work at city council. Each individual who takes their valuable time to appear before us or submit written matters has to know that their views have been heard and seriously considered.”)

— El Paso Mayor Says President Trump Called Him a RINO – BILLY PERRIGO (DIERSEN: QUESTION: What do Democrat plants, Libertarian plants, Green plants, and RINOs in Republican organizations in Illinois do? ANSWER: They discourage me from putting GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails together and sending them out. They discourage everyone from reading GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. They turn everyone that they can against me, including those who run the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream, those who ran the Wheaton Bowl, Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) members, Wheaton City Council members, and voters in my precinct. They make false accusations against me and demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me at MTRCC meetings. They intimidate/threaten those who might come to my defense. They discourage Republican candidates, elected officials, party leaders, and organizations from helping sponsor Wheaton’s Independence Day parade and fireworks. They promote booze, gambling, pot, and other vices.)

WIKIPEDIA
— Negative campaigning (DIERSEN: If you seek a government office or a political office, you should expect that sooner or later, your opponents will engage in negative campaigning against you. I am seeking appointment to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy. Even though there is no chance that I will be selected, my opponents in Wheaton’s West District are engaging in negative campaigning against me. At the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) August 14, 2019 meeting at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream, two of my fellow MTRCC members in Wheaton’s West District falsely charged me with harassing the hotel’s employees. In addition, one of them, in front of an attorney, said that he was going to do everything that he could to stop everyone from reading my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails.)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_campaigning

(FROM THE POSTING: Negative campaigning or mudslinging is the process of deliberate spreading negative information about someone or something to worsen the public image of the described. Deliberate spreading of such information can be motivated either by honest desire of the campaigner to warn others against real dangers or deficiencies of the described, or by the campaigner’s dishonest ideas on methods of winning in political, business or other spheres of competition against an honest rival. The public image of an entity can be defined as reputation, esteem, respect, acceptance of the entity’s appearance, values and behavior by the general public of a given territory and/or a social group, possibly within time limits. As target groups of public and their values differ, so negativity or positivity of a public image is relative; thus, to be successful, negative campaigning has to take into account current values of the group it addresses. The degree of strictness in practicing the group’s values as opposed to its tolerance for violating the norms has also to be taken into consideration.)

August 14 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— The August Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) monthly meeting is this evening at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream. The social hour starts at 6:00 PM and the meeting starts at 7:00 PM. SEE: http://dupagegop.org/calendar-3/

I will be signing in as a candidate. I am a candidate to be appointed to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy. The other six Republican candidates are Edward Ahern, Jeffery Antonelli, Angela Blatner, Nancy Harding, Mark Kmeicik, and Robert McNeily.

Hopefully, all of the aforesaid seven candidates will a) attend meeting, b) announce their candidacies, c) and seek the support of the eighteen Republican Precinct Committeemen who represent Wheaton’s West District. Those eighteen Precinct Committeemen are Joseph Caruso, Dave Diersen, Thomas Elsner, Arthur Grant, Ralph Hinkle, Marty Keller, John Kocinski, Robert Krzyzewski, Michael Hinsdale, Jae Kwon, Robert Larsen, Connor McCarthy, Robert McNeily, Ronald Menna, Elizabeth Tatro, James Ryan, Mark Thomas, and Herbert Wehling.

Hopefully, MTRCC will gather relevant information about the aforesaid seven candidates, provide that information to the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen, and host a candidate forum. The goal of providing information on the candidates and hosting a candidate forum is to help the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen recommend to Wheaton’s City Council the best possible candidate to be appointed to fill the Wheaton West District City Council vacancy.

In my opinion, the following information about all 10 candidates should be disclosed: How long they have lived in Wheaton, how long they have lived in Wheaton’s West District, their work experience, their education, their professional certifications and licenses, their memberships in professional associations, why they want to be appointed to fill the vacancy, what they believe the three most important issues are that Wheaton needs to address in the next 2 years and how those issues those issues should be addressed, their political affiliation and activities, their civic activities, if they would vote for or against banning the sale of pot in Wheaton, what their position is on Wheaton’s Roosevelt Road corridor, if they would vote for or against requiring employers in Wheaton to use E-Verify, and what they have done that demonstrates they can carry out typical city council functions. In my opinion, Republican Precinct Committeemen in Wheaton’s West District should have the above information.

At Wheaton’s City Council meeting on Monday, August 19, 2019, its members will go into executive session to deliberate on the 10 candidates who have applied. Because, in that session, they will be reviewing the documents that the 10 candidates have submitted, Wheaton has denied my FOIA request for those documents.

According to MTRCC’s bylaws (http://www.miltongop.org/about-mtrcc/by-laws), “When a position within Milton Township is declared vacant, the MTRCC shall meet within forty (40) days of the declaration of vacancy to recommend an individual to fill such vacancy. The recommendation shall be decided at a convention of the Organization by a majority vote of the Organization through a written ballot.” It would be great if MTRCC would host a candidate forum for the aforesaid seven Republican candidates.” I urge MTRCC to do the aforesaid concerning Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy.

Many Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders routinely attend MTRCC meetings. I hope that the following will attend MTRCC’s August 14 meeting and a candidate forum if one is held: a) Wheaton’s mayor and City Council members, b) 6th Congressional District candidates Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti; c) DuPage County Recorder candidates Ron Almiron and Babette Holder; d) Illinois officials including Amy Grant; e) DuPage County officials including Robert Berlin, Fred Bucholz, Daniel Cronin, Pete DiCianni, Grant Eckhoff, Timothy Elliott, Robert Grogan, Gwen Henry, Richard Jorgensen, Christopher Kachiroubas, Robert Larsen, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Al Murphy, Sean Noonan, Jeffrey Redick, Darlene Ruscitti, Timothy Whelan, and Jim Zay; f) Milton Township officials including Sal Falbo, Chris Heidorn, Gail Hinkle, Marty Keller, Chris LeVan, Gary Muehlfelt, David Molitor, John Monino, and Yada Nathwani; g) Wheaton Park District officials including Michael Benard; h) School District 200 officials; and i) College of DuPage officials including Annette Corrigan, Christine Fenne, Heidi Holan, and Frank Napolitano.

It will be extremely interesting to see which of the seven candidates are endorsed by which of the aforesaid candidates, elected officials, and party leaders, and especially which candidates Ives and Sanguinetti might endorse because they both have served on Wheaton’s City Council.

Further, I will be asking a) Susan Fitch, Chris Zaruba, and other Wheaton City Council members who attend the meeting to brief the meeting’s attendees on actions being taken to ban the sale of pot in Wheaton and b) Grant Eckhoff, Tim Elliott, Bob Larsen, Jim Zay, and other DuPage County Board members who attend the meeting to brief the meeting’s attendees on actions being taken to ban the sale of pot in DuPage County’s unincorporated areas.

Further, I will be asking the meeting’s attendees to join me, Bob Cherry, Dick Furstenau, B.J. Singer, and Tim Whelan in urging DuPage County, Wheaton, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Lombard, Downers Grove, Naperville, Warrenville, West Chicago, and the rest of the 38 municipalities in DuPage County to ban the sale of pot.

Further, I will be asking the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, its Chairman Marty Keller, MTRCC, and the other eight Republican township party organizations in DuPage County to urge DuPage County and the 38 municipalities in DuPage County to ban the sale of pot. – Dave Diersen

CYBER CIVICS
— Responsibilities of U.S. Citizens (DIERSEN: In my opinion, each and every voter in Wheaton, and especially, each and every voter in Wheaton’s West District and each and every Precinct Committeeman in the district should a) learn everything that they can about the 10 candidates who are seeking to be appointed to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy, b) analyze that information, c) decide who they believe the best candidate would be and why, and d) communicate that to Wheaton’s City Council by email at allcouncil@wheaton.il.us.)
http://www.civics.ks.gov/kansas/citizenship/responsibilities-of-citizens.html
(FROM THE POSTING: Staying informed. Citizens have the responsibility to stay informed of the issues affecting their communities, as well as national and international issues, and to be active in the civic processes. This includes being well informed about the issues and candidates before voting in an election, getting involved in a political campaign or running for public office, or using their right to address the government through activism.)

DAILY HERALD
— AUGUST 9, 2019 FLASHBACK: 10 want West District seat on Wheaton City Council – Katlyn Smith (DIERSEN: The Daily Herald has published some information about 5 of the candidates (David Diersen, Robert McNeily, Lynn Robbins, Mark Kmiecik, and Khizar Jafri), but what about the other 5: Nancy Harding, Edward Ahern, Jeffrey Antonelli, Angela Blatner, and Krista Selvey? In my opinion, the Daily Herald should obtain and publish at least the following information about all 10 candidates: How long they have lived in Wheaton, how long they have lived in Wheaton’s West District, their work experience, their education, their professional certifications and licenses, their memberships in professional associations, why they want to be appointed to fill the vacancy, what they believe the three most important issues are that Wheaton needs to address in the next 2 years and how those issues those issues should be addressed, their political affiliation and activities, their civic activities, if they would vote for or against banning the sale of pot in Wheaton, what their position is on Wheaton’s Roosevelt Road corridor, if they would vote for or against requiring employers in Wheaton to use E-Verify, and what they have done that demonstrates they can carry out typical city council functions.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20190809/10-want-west-district-seat-on-wheaton-city-council
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Diersen is the founder of the daily newsletter Gopillinois.com. McNeily lost his bid for the West District seat in 2016 against incumbent Todd Scalzo. According to his LinkedIn page, he is the Midwest regional manager of Turning Point USA, a conservative group founded by Wheeling High School alum Charlie Kirk for college and high school students. Robbins, a former Illinois Park and Recreation Association board member, also ran unsuccessfully against Scalzo for the West District seat in 2016. Kmiecik finished third in another three-way race for the seat in 2009. Jafri, a finance and accounting consultant, lost to Tim Elliott for a District 4 spot on the DuPage County Board in 2016. The Democrat was seeking his first elected office at the time.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— All politics is local. It should be extremely important to you who represents you in your municipality’s government. Residents of Wheaton’s West District have been represented in Wheaton’s government by Todd Scalzo for the last 10 years, but Scalzo has resigned.

It would be great if the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) would host a candidate forum for the seven Republican candidates who are seeking appointment to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy.

Those seven candidates are Edward Ahern, Jeffery Antonelli, Angela Blatner, Dave Diersen, Nancy Harding, Mark Kmiecik, and Robert McNeily.

Hopefully, all of the aforesaid seven candidates will a) attend MTRCC’s 7:00 PM Wednesday August 14, 2019 meeting at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream, b) announce their candidacies, c) and seek the support of the eighteen Republican Precinct Committeemen who represent Wheaton’s West District.

Those eighteen Precinct Committeemen are Joseph Caruso, Dave Diersen, Thomas Elsner, Arthur Grant, Ralph Hinkle, Marty Keller, John Kocinski, Robert Krzyzewski, Michael Hinsdale, Jae Kwon, Robert Larsen, Connor McCarthy, Robert McNeily, Ronald Menna, Elizabeth Tatro, James Ryan, Mark Thomas, and Herbert Wehling.

Hopefully, MTRCC will gather relevant information about the aforesaid seven candidates and provide that information to the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen.

The goal of the candidate forum and providing information on the candidates is to help the aforesaid eighteen Precinct Committeemen recommend to Wheaton’s City Council the best possible candidate to be appointed to fill the Wheaton West District City Council vacancy.

Many Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders routinely attend MTRCC meetings. I hope that the following will attend MTRCC’s August 14 meeting and a candidate forum if one is held: a) 6th Congressional District candidates Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti; b) DuPage County Recorder candidates Ron Almiron and Babette Holder; c) Wheaton’s mayor and City Council members; d) Illinois officials including Amy Grant; e) DuPage County officials including Robert Berlin, Fred Bucholz, Daniel Cronin, Pete DiCianni, Grant Eckhoff, Timothy Elliott, Robert Grogan, Gwen Henry, Richard Jorgensen, Christopher Kachiroubas, Robert Larsen, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Al Murphy, Sean Noonan, Jeffrey Redick, Darlene Ruscitti, Timothy Whelan, and Jim Zay; f) Milton Township officials including Sal Falbo, Chris Heidorn, Gail Hinkle, Marty Keller, Chris LeVan, Gary Muehlfelt, David Molitor, John Monino, and Yada Nathwani; g) Wheaton Park District officials including Michael Benard; h) School District 200 officials; and i) College of DuPage officials including Annette Corrigan, Christine Fenne, Heidi Holan, and Frank Napolitano.

It will be extremely interesting to see which of the seven candidates are endorsed by which of the aforesaid candidates, elected officials, and party leaders, and especially which candidates Ives and Sanguinetti might endorse because they have served on Wheaton’s City Council. – Dave Diersen

In the past, Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) straw polls at its Oktoberfest fundraisers had a big impact and raised lots of money for MTRCC. I organized those straw polls. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/democrats-2020-iowa-state-fair-food-fried-mary-anne-marsh
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Beyond the fried food on a stick and the iconic Butter Cow, another big attraction at the Iowa State Fair is the unscientific straw poll open to all attending the fair. In 2015, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump ran away with the poll. Hillary Clinton won the Iowa caucus and Trump came in a very close second behind Ted Cruz. Trump and Clinton eventually faced one another in the general election. This week’s straw poll is a reminder that the 2020 campaign is much further along than most people, and even many candidates, realize. The fact is elections — and the nomination process — are won in June, July and August. With only 182 days until the Iowa caucuses, Warren and Harris are on the rise, Biden and Sanders are fading, and the rest of the field is fried on a stick.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: While Trump attended two big-money fundraisers for the Republican Party and his 2020 re-election campaign at mansions in Southampton and Bridgehampton on Friday, many of his East End supporters are eschewing the spotlight — especially after last week’s calls for boycotts of billionaire Stephen Ross’ gyms because he hosted the president. “We are all in the closet,” said a boutique owner in Southampton who fears reprisals from his customers — most of them moneyed Democrats — if he speaks openly about his allegiance to Trump. “It’s like you have this disease and people want to run away from you.” A builder based in Westhampton worried that his customers would boycott his services if he reveals his support of the president. “People have really strong opinions here and if you go around wearing a MAGA hat, you really need to fear physical violence,” he said, adding the anti-Trump aggression comes mostly from summer residents. Trump won 51.5 percent of the vote among year-round residents of Suffolk County in the 2016 election, compared to 44.6 percent for Democrat Hillary Clinton. In 2008 and 2012, most of the county voted for Barack Obama. Despite the recent shift, many of Trump’s core supporters fear speaking out, especially during the summer months, when beachfront villages from Westhampton to Montauk are filled with left-leaning visitors from New York City.)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Diersen asks the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) to host a candidate forum for the Republican Wheaton West District City Council candidates at its 7:00 PM Wednesday August 14, 2019 meeting at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream, or alternatively, during the following 2 weeks.

The Republican candidates are Edward Ahern, Jeffery Antonelli, Angela Blatner, Dave Diersen, Nancy Harding, Mark Kmiecik, and Robert McNeily.

Diersen asks MTRCC to provide relevant information about the aforesaid candidates to its members who represent Republican voters in Wheaton’s West District. Those MTRCC members are Joseph Caruso, Dave Diersen, Thomas Elsner, Arthur Grant, Ralph Hinkle, Marty Keller, John Kocinski, Robert Krzyzewski, Michael Hinsdale, Jae Kwon, Robert Larsen, Connor McCarthy, Robert McNeily, Ronald Menna, Elizabeth Tatro, James Ryan, Mark Thomas, and Herbert Wehling.

The goal of the candidate forum and providing information on the candidates is to help the aforesaid Wheaton West District MTRCC members recommend the best possible candidate to be appointed to fill the Wheaton West District City Council vacancy.

Many Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders routinely attend MTRCC meetings. I hope that the following will attend MTRCC’s August 14 meeting: a) 6th Congressional District candidates Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti; b) DuPage County Recorder candidates Ron Almiron and Babette Holder; c) Wheaton’s mayor and City Council members; d) Illinois officials including Amy Grant; e) DuPage County officials including Robert Berlin, Fred Bucholz, Daniel Cronin, Pete DiCianni, Grant Eckhoff, Timothy Elliott, Robert Grogan, Gwen Henry, Richard Jorgensen, Christopher Kachiroubas, Robert Larsen, Paula McGowen, James Mendrick, Al Murphy, Sean Noonan, Jeffrey Redick, Darlene Ruscitti, Timothy Whelan, and Jim Zay; f) Milton Township officials including Sal Falbo, Chris Heidorn, Gail Hinkle, Marty Keller, Chris LeVan, Gary Muehlfelt, David Molitor, John Monino, and Yada Nathwani; g) Wheaton Park District officials including Michael Benard; h) School District 200 officials; and i) College of DuPage officials including Annette Corrigan, Christine Fenne, Heidi Holan, and Frank Napolitano.

Further, I ask MTRCC to brief its members at the meeting on actions being taken to ban the sale of pot in DuPage County’s unincorporated areas and in Wheaton, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Lombard, Downers Grove, Naperville, Warrenville, West Chicago, and the rest of the 38 municipalities in DuPage County. – Dave Diersen

https://www.news-press.com/story/opinion/2018/06/22/news-press-vet-candidates-dissect-issues-but-stop-endorsing/722444002/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Two weeks ago, the News-Press asked the community to weigh in on our process of endorsing political candidates. The question was: To endorse or not to endorse? The feedback was voluminous and passionate. Thirty-eight people wrote to say we should stop endorsing candidates in various city, county, state and federal races and 35 said we should continue. A common theme in most of the responses was an appreciation for our diligence in vetting the candidates through questionnaires, background checks and interviews. They wanted the information to help them decide on whom should get their vote. We agree the most important part of what we do — and we do it better than most — is going in-depth with the candidates on the issues. Getting specific answers to and solutions for some of our most critical issues, like water quality and the environment, affordable and attainable housing, the mental health and opioid crisis, how to improve education and build new schools, mean the most to people. That same information also was vital for us in endorsing candidates.)
