— ‘A wonderful, loving family’: Boy dies from Beecher crash that killed pregnant mother, 2 brothers – Zak Koeske, Alicia Fabbre  (DIERSEN: My outstanding parents had me baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete in 1948. They sent me to Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Crete 1953-1961, then sent me to Hope Lutheran Grade School in Park Forest 1961-1962 to stay with the Missouri Synod, and then had me confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran (MSL) at Hope Lutheran Church in 1962.  I should write a book about those who have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who viciously demonize, viciously denigrate, and viciously condemn MSLs as being “too conservative.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: On Thursday evening, about 200 people gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete to pray for the Schmidt family. The family was headed to Vacation Bible School at the church when the wreck occurred. “I believe you all understand when I say I wish we weren’t here,” Pastor Frank Italiano told his congregation. . .The service was the second one for the family. On Wednesday night, 200 people gathered at Firemen’s Park for a prayer vigil, where two local pastors offered prayers, blessings and a message of hope. The solemn event was organized by a group of local mothers who did not know the Schmidt family but were touched by the tragedy.)

CANTON DAILY LEDGER

WSIL TV
— New poll shows signs of trouble for Rauner – Brandon Richard  (DIERSEN: What do you get blamed for?  Will anti-Trumps want to keep me as the DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 Republican Committeeman a) because only 137 voted for Trump in that precinct while 211 voted for Clinton and b) because Trump got fewer votes than Clinton in Wheaton, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and Illinois?)

— Sessions not leaving unless pushed – AP (DIERSEN: QUESTION: What did I “gain” by taking my Democrat GAO superiors’ early retirement “offer” on September 30, 1997 when I was 49 years old?  ANSWER: No longer having to come to work and enduring their tremendous efforts to get rid of me. QUESTION: What did I lose?  First, the difference between my salary ($122,991/year in today’s dollars) an my Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension (currently $50,856/year) or $72,135/year in today’s dollars until I would taken regular retirement and then the difference between what my CSRS pension would have been (much more than $50,856/year) and $50,856/year for the rest of my life.  So far, during the last 238 months, I have lost $1,430,856 in today’s dollars, that is, what my salary would have been ($2,439,500) minus the CSRS pension payments that I have received ($1,008,644). But the lost money is nothing compared to the ammunition that my Democrat GAO superiors gave my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes.  They use my being forced to take early retirement to hint/imply/argue/shout that I must be a racist, a sexist, a bigot, or even far worse things.)

CENTRAL ILLINOIS PROUD
— Senate sends Russia sanctions bill to Trump’s desk  White House has not said if Trump will sign it – JEREMY HERB  (DIERSEN: I should write a book about the unsuccessful attempt that my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes made to sanction me at the start of the 2006 Illinois Center Right Coalition Annual Convention (ICRC) in the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall. Previously, my Democrat GAO superiors had sanctioned me by forcing me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranking me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, not promoting me beyond GS-13, keeping me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forcing me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, Illinois Republican Party, TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, ICRC, American Association of Political Consultants, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Milton Township, DuPage County, Illinois, etc, SIDE WITH MY DEMOCRAT SUPERIORS IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGAINST ME.)

CAPITOL FAX
— Pritzker campaign attacks new House GOP floor leader as “radical”  (DIERSEN: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.  Outstandingly, Breen focuses on defending and advancing the Illinois Republican Party platform.)
https://capitolfax.com/2017/07/28/pritzker-campaign-attacks-new-house-gop-floor-leader-as-radical/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Pritzker campaign is not happy…Rep. Peter Breen is reportedly taking over as House Republican floor leader, a move that solidifies Illinois Republicans’ dramatic shift to the right under failed Governor Bruce Rauner. Breen will replace moderate Rep. Steven Andersson who was exiled following his leadership in overriding Bruce Rauner’s reckless budget veto. The new floor leader will have the opportunity to make his radical social conservative views priorities for House Republicans. Here are just a few of the extreme right-wing stances that Breen has taken recently: Defended a new Rauner hire that compared abortion to Nazi eugenics. Fought against a bill strengthening the Illinois’ Equal Pay Act, calling it “the stupidest bill we’ve considered.” Lied about the potential risk Illinois women face in maintaining access to reproductive healthcare. Opposed marriage equality. “Peter Breen’s ascension to House leadership is another sign of the radical right-wing takeover led by Rauner and his team of ’superstars’ who are desperate for a political win,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “The damage he’s done to Illinois so far is unconscionable. Bruce Rauner continues to line his administration with ideologues eager to help him hold children and families hostage to his political agenda—a move that means more damage is coming.”)

HUFFINGTON POST
— Scaramucci And The Pale Horse Of Pestilence – Jim Moore  (DIERSEN: While I worked for GAO 1980-1997, all the managers that the Democrats who ran GAO sent to run its Chicago office came with a list of Chicago office to get rid of. Of course, I was always very high on those lists because I am Republican, White, male, old (born in 1948), and non-veteran.  Further, I did not make GS-13 (currently $94,610) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $111,801) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $131,508) by age 35, or Senior Executive Service (currently $161,900) by age 40. Further, I complained about patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.  Further, in 1988, when I was 40 years old, I became an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged GAO with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)

— Switching Careers Doesn’t Have to Be Hard: Charting Jobs That Are Similar to Yours – CLAIRE CAIN MILLER and QUOCTRUNG BUI  (DIERSEN: In 1980, when I was 31 years old, I transferred from IRS to GAO. Much of the work that I did for IRS was similar to the work that I did for GAO including investigating, interviewing, gathering data, summarizing data, analyzing data, developing recommendations, and report writing. But the Democrats who ran GAO dismissed/belittled the skills that I developed working for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173.  To transfer, they forced me to take a downgrade from GS-12 Step 5 down to GS-9 Step 10, an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, a minority, a female, or a veteran.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20170727/special-session-tab-could-have-been-higher-without-suburban-lawmakers-bill
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Bush’s bill, which goes into effect immediately, caps all 177 General Assembly members’ per diem rates at $111 per session day; lawmakers who travel more than 50 miles to the capitol would continue to be reimbursed 39 cents per mile. It would also eliminate a 2.1 percent cost of living adjustment to their annual salary, which has a base pay of $67,636 before stipends for leadership and committee roles. Without the legislation, per diems were set to rise to $142 per day, and mileage to 53 cents per mile, based on federal rates.)

CHAMPAIGN/URBANA NEWS GAZETTE
— S.B. 1: Who’s not the boss of whom? – Jim Dey  (DIERSEN: Are you an elected Republican Precinct Committeeman?  If so, who is your boss?  For me, my boss is the Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform, and the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) resolution against video gambling. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes disagree.  They hint/imply/argue/shout that my bosses include the MTRCC officers, the DuPage County Republican Central Committee (DCRCC) officers, my representative on the IRP State Central Committee, the IRP officers, and all the Republican elected officials who represent all or part of my precinct. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that political parties exist to win elections no matter what it takes. According to them, “the platform is the problem.” “To win,” a) they want to dump the traditional family, right to life, abortion, immigration, illegal drugs, equal opportunity, Second Amendment, and/or other planks in the Republican Party platform and IRP platform and b) they want to dump the MTRCC resolution against video gambling.  To attract voters who are anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors, THEY WANT THE MTRCC, DCRCC, IRP, AND REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES AND ELECTED OFFICIALS TO DUMP voters who are Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.  Of course, I disagree.)

They hint/imply/argue/shout that my wife and I have the “ability to pay” higher taxes because I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth and I have always been privileged, because I avoided the draft, because the federal government grossly overpaid me, because my wife and I gave up trying to have children, we did not adopt, and we did not become foster parents, and because my federal retirement benefits are much too generous. Since then, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have used that to viciously demonize me, to viciously denigrate me, and to condemn me. Further, they stress a) that my Democrat GAO superiors always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) that my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) that my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

— Trump marginalizes experts, debases expertise – James Hohmann  (DIERSEN: Government is nasty.  Politics is nasty.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always debased the experience that I gained a) working for GAO for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 levels, currently $94,610-$122,991; b) working for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $79,563-$90,173; c) earning a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970 when I was 21 years old, an MBA from Loyola in 1976, a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, and a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997; and c) passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979 and passing the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981.  They debase the fact that I became a licensed CPA in 1981, a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and a Forensic Accountant in 1997.)

— Your next big raise? Don’t hold your breath, some economists say – Paul Davidson  (DIERSEN: What raises have you gotten? During the almost 30 years that I worked for the federal government, my salary increased every year because of COLAs, step increases, and/or promotions, except 1980 when I took an $18,847 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO.  In today’s dollars, I earned $15.56/hour (GS-4 Step 1) when I started working for the Post Office in 1966 when I was 18; $44,853/year (GS-7 Step 1) when I started working for IRS in 1971; $90,173/year (GS-12 Step 5) when I left IRS in 1980; $71,326/year (GS-9 Step 10) when I started working for GAO in 1980; and $122,991/year (GS-13 Step 10) when my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997. My critics/opponents have always accused me of being overpaid. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20170722/dupage-county-board-member-appointed-to-state-senate-vacancy
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Under state election law, a new member of the Republican party must be appointed to the DuPage County Board within 60 days of Curran’s resignation, which he plans to officially submit Monday, he said. Residents of District 3, which includes parts of Downers Grove, Westmont, Burr Ridge, Hinsdale, Woodridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien and Willowbrook, can apply to at Dupageco.org/countyboard/dist3map. The newly appointed board member will serve the remainder of Curran’s term, which expires Nov. 30, 2018. County Board Chairman Dan Cronin said in a news release Saturday that he will fill Curran’s vacancy until an appointment is made. “While we will truly miss his work and his dedication to DuPage County, we are happy to see him moving on to bigger challenges,” Cronin said. “I’m confident Springfield is gaining an asset who will fight to protect residents of Illinois.” Anyone seeking appointment to the county board should email Cronin at Dan.Cronin@dupageco.org with a resume and letter, not exceeding 300 words, outlining their interest.)

LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR
— DREAM Act divisive, elitist – RUBEN NAVARRETTE JR. (DIERSEN: From what I see, to curry favor with Democrats, employers want to gloat that they hire illegals, and that to make way for them, they do not hire citizens of America and that they get rid of citizens of America.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: What bothered her was the insistence on going to college. What about those kids who go to vocational school or go straight to work? They didn’t deserve legal status? Someone in Washington was playing God again, deciding who stayed and who went according to a narrow definition of positive behavior. Why stop at attending college? Why not demand that beneficiaries of the DREAM Act not accept any public assistance, or abstain from smoking, or never fall into debt or not be unemployed for more than six months at any point in their lives? The new bill from Graham and Durbin is a slight improvement because it covers those who “work lawfully for at least three years.” But it also has a new requirement that recipients speak English and know U.S. history. Great idea. But shouldn’t we start by demanding those things from native-born U.S. citizens? These moral judgments are all subjective and awfully condescending. They’re all about what Graham, Durbin, and the other senators who will eventually support their bill require to make them feel comfortable with overlooking the fact that these young people are in the country illegally. Welcome to this week’s episode of the game show: “Good Immigrant, Bad Immigrant.” If Graham and Durbin want to make themselves useful in the immigration debate, they should stop treating immigrants like they’re some kind of social science experiment. Instead, they should draft a bill that would eventually legalize most of the 11 million people who are in the country illegally — whether or not they went to college or speak English. It’s no wonder that so many DREAMers experience a version of “survivor’s guilt” because they were tossed a life preserver while their parents and siblings are left to drown. All this talk about how the Trump administration is dividing families. You know what really divides families? The DREAM Act.)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/07/21/hits-on-federal-retirement-advance-as-bill-is-introduced-to-fire-feds-for-no-cause-at-all/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Future federal employees could lose their jobs much more easily under legislation introduced by Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.). He wants all new feds to be considered at-will employees, meaning they “may be removed/suspended without notice or right to appeal for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all,” according to a summary of the legislation. This represents no understanding that civil service protections are designed to protect not just staffers, but also the public from a government bureaucracy riven with political favoritism, as was the case under the spoils system. Even members of Congress eager to fire feds faster must know that this drastic proposal runs afoul of a basic and long-standing principle that says government staffers should be protected from willy-nilly punishment by political operatives. While Rokita’s plan demonstrates the extremes to which the fire-feds-faster crowd will go, presumably, but perhaps not assuredly, there are enough people in Congress who know better. I doubt his legislation will fly. . .Not all Republicans want to punish feds. Nine GOP House members signed a letter in June opposing Trump’s proposal, because it would renege on the retirement promised to feds when they joined the government. “Congress and the administration cannot balance the federal budget on the backs of our federal workers,” said one of the letter signers, Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.), after the House plan was released Tuesday. “Many of our federal employees work at the CIA, Pentagon, FBI, law enforcement, homeland security and intelligence agencies.  They and our federal workforce are dedicated hard-working professionals who work day and night to protect our homeland and national security, cure diseases, and provide services that help the American people.”)
