GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Should I a) limit GOPUSA ILLINOIS email subscriptions and b) password protect
www.gopillinois.com? – Dave Diersen
https://gopillinois.com
(THE ARTICLE: GOPUSA ILLINOIS email subscriptions are worth at least $1,000 a year.  The only legitimate reason to read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails is to get information a) to defend and advance the Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party platform, and the Milton Township Central Committee (MTRCC) resolution against video gambling and b) to help elect and reelect Republican candidates who can and will defend and advance the aforesaid.  Far too many read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails to get information to defeat Republican candidates who support a) the traditional family, right to life, immigration, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), Second Amendment, and/or other planks and b) the MTRCC resolution.  Far too many read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails to get information to get rid of those who they cannot manipulate/dominate.  The aforesaid GOPUSA ILLINOIS email readers blame me for their problems, blame me for your problems, blame me for my problems, and blame me for everyone’s problems.  They viciously demonize, denigrate, and condemn my motives and my judgment.  What are the pros and cons if I would a) limit GOPUSA ILLINOIS email subscriptions and b) password protect www.gopillinois.com?)

FOX NEWS CHICAGO
— Video appears to show lobbyist admitting Dems responsible for inciting violence at Trump rallies – Mike Flannery
http://www.fox32chicago.com/news/local/212123144-story
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A local attorney who supports Trump was infuriated by what he saw on that videotape and claims it may violate federal law. “Think how cynical these people are to actually pay people – They’re paying their thugs, their goons,” said Doug Ibendahl. “And putting them into these Trump events to do their dirty work.” The conservative video purports to show several boasting they helped provoke the violence at UIC last March that forced Donald Trump to cancel a big rally.  Creamer’s cohorts considered it a victory that Trump was widely condemned for the uproar.)

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Trump put stop to aides’ bid to research his personal past – Michael Sneed  (DIERSEN: Of course, obviously, needless-to-say, as everyone knows, that if you run as a Christian, as a conservative, and/or as a Republican, sooner or later, Democrats will take anything in your “personal past” that they can spin as being is being anti-Christian, anti-conservative, and/or anti-Republican and splash it all over their television stations, their newspapers, their radio stations, their websites, their etc. to paint you as being a Christian hypocrite, a conservative hypocrite, as a Republican hypocrite, and/or as an etc.-hypocrite.  What do you say to those who paint me as being a Christian hypocrite because I put GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails together on Sunday mornings instead of attending Christian church services?)
http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/sneed-trump-put-stop-to-aides-bid-to-research-his-personal-past/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s true. It’s so Donald. It’s totally shocking. In the wake of a report Donald Trump rebuffed attempts by top political aides to research his personal past, Sneed is told Trump personally told them he had “no appetite for a deep dive” into his personal life. “We knew he had this playboy image, but we thought much of his behavior had been covered in the New York tabloid papers due to his divorces from Ivana and Marla Maples,” said a top Trump source familiar with the inner workings of the early stages of the Trump campaign, who requested anonymity. “Besides, it was the beginning of the campaign and we thought for the primary at least we had enough information. Who knew we’d get this far,” said the source, who verified that Trump’s top campaign brass in the early part of his campaign requested a typical vetting examination for people seeking office. “He [Trump] was not interested in such a background evaluation. We were much more focused on his past and present stances on health care and abortion,” added the source. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Village records show in the last financial year, which ended April 30, the state sent about $1.7 million to Round Lake Park as its share of taxes including motor fuel, income and video gambling. Murar said losing any of the state revenue to the pension fund would hurt daily operations. “We’re a small community, a small budget, small operating (expenses),” he said. “It would be very detrimental to the village and those services we provide to the citizens.” No opponents to the ballot question have publicly surfaced. Murar said supporters soon will start knocking on doors as part of a public information campaign.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Despite the fact he’s a Democrat, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) hopes to see the Republican party find its footing once the election is over. Durbin said he has respect for the GOP, but some of the divisive comments made during the election process so far have “unleashed a force in American politics” he’s never seen. “I’m counting on good, mainstream, conservative Republicans to step up for the good of the country to say, we’ll sit down – and Democrats do the exactly same thing, and say the election has to be behind us. We’ll stand by the president, whoever that may be,” said Durbin. “And we try to find common ground to solve the problems that face this country.” Durbin gave credit to Republicans who have begun backing off their support of Donald Trump. “The recent revelation of what he said to this Billy Bush fellow 11 years ago was the end of it for most,” said Durbin. “And now Paul Ryan, who is nominally the highest ranking Republican in America, has said he will no longer defend the Republican presidential candidate. “I didn’t think I’d live to see the day.” Durbin spoke to students this week on Illinois Wesleyan University’s campus.)

Since when did we decide that men and women are interchangeable in hand-to-hand combat on the front lines? Why do we insist on women in combat but not in the NFL? Because we take football seriously. That’s no joke; it’s the sad truth. Did we invite the federal bureaucracy to take charge of school bathrooms? I guess I missed that meeting. The schools are corrupt and the universities rotten to the core, and everyone has known it since the 1980s. But the Democrats are owned by the teachers unions, and Republicans have made only small-scale corrections to a system that needs to be ripped out and carefully disposed of, like poison ivy.)

http://www.hotsr.com/news/2016/oct/15/pope-sends-us-church-message-with-cardi/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Pope Francis named 17 new cardinals on Oct. 9, adding like-minded prelates from dioceses big and small to the club who will elect the next pope. Three were Americans in a clear signal to the conservative U.S. church hierarchy that Francis wants moderate pastors at the helm of the U.S. church. The U.S. appointments also sent a more subtle political message, weeks before the U.S. election, with the surprise pick of Indianapolis Archbishop Joseph Tobin. Tobin has openly opposed efforts by Indiana Gov. Michael Pence, now Donald Trump’s running mate, to bar Syrian refugees from being resettled in the state. A U.S. federal appeals court recently used stinging language in a ruling that will prevent the Republican vice presidential candidate from barring refugee resettlement in Indiana for now. Francis has made the plight of refugees one of the hallmarks of his papacy, even bringing a dozen Syrian refugees home with him from Lesbos, Greece. He has asserted that anyone who wants to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to keep out migrants — as Trump has proposed — is “not Christian.” “You can find a political message” in the Tobin appointment, said Massimo Faggioli, a Villanova University expert on the Vatican.)

Clearly, the government feels the need to urge people to do a better job of preparing for retirement. Are you doing all you can?  Many of your peers aren’t – or at least they think they aren’t. In a recent survey conducted by Bankrate.com, respondents reported that “not saving for retirement early enough” was their biggest financial regret. Other evidence seems to show they have good cause for remorse: 52 percent of households 55 and older haven’t saved anything for retirement, according to a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office, although half of this group reported having a pension.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-bc-us–catholics-gays-20161012-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: An ideological tug of war over the firing of a Rhode Island church music director for marrying his same-sex partner illustrates the confusion that permeates some U.S. Roman Catholic parishes over Pope Francis’ words on homosexuality. Francis’ famous declaration “Who am I to judge?” in 2013 energized Catholics who had pushed the church to accept gays and lesbians. Now, some gay Catholics and supporters who hoped for rapid acceptance find themselves stymied by many bishops and pastors. Francis is being cited by both the music director, Michael Templeton, and by Providence Bishop Thomas Tobin, known for taking a hard line on church teaching about marriage and abortion. Tobin has criticized Francis, writing after the pope’s summit on the family two years ago that “Francis is fond of ‘creating a mess.’ Mission accomplished.” The pope has upheld Catholic teaching on homosexuality, reiterating the church’s opposition to same-sex relationships. But his shift in tone and broad statements about mercy have left a trail of comments that amount to a Rorschach test open to interpretation, say those who have closely followed Francis.)

— SEPTEMBER 13, 2012 FLASHBACK: Wheaton group home (SEE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_home) for developmentally disabled moves forward  Proposed 15-resident care location would be northeast of downtown Wheaton – Bob Goldsborough
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-09-13/news/ct-tl-wheaton-group-home-20120913_1_group-care-home-wheaton-stars
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Plans for a proposed 15-resident group care home for developmentally disabled individuals just northeast of downtown Wheaton cleared another hurdle, as the city’s Group Care Home Commission voted 3-1 to grant the project a necessary group care home license. The Wheaton-based nonprofit STARS Family Services, which operates another four-person group care home called Washington House on Wheaton’s north side, wants to construct a new group care home on vacant land at the southeast corner of Cross Street and Union Avenue. The project would be constructed on land currently owned by St. John Lutheran Church, zoned for single-family residential use and used for two parking lots. Plans call for two structures that would be linked by a common courtyard. Each would have six private bedrooms, a great room, a shared kitchen and shared baths for each pair of bedrooms. The project also will include housing for a couple who would live in the home and oversee the evening and the overnight. A volunteer or staff person also will be present in the home during the day. The project has drawn opposition from some neighbors, who criticize the scale of the proposal. In addition, they have questioned STARS’ financial strength and how the home would be used were STARS to no longer be economically viable. “None of the neighbors oppose a group care home,” said neighbor Kathy Langlois. “We embrace it, we applaud it and we welcome it. And it’s absolutely not a case of ‘Not in my back yard.’ It’s a question of scale.” Langlois also said she and her neighbors would welcome the construction of one single-family home on the site. “What happens if STARS runs out of money?” she asked. “This will be a group care home. It can’t go back to being a single-family home.” STARS president Ray Chase noted that the organization has taken great pains to ensure its financial viability. STARS plans to pay cash for the land and has vowed never to open a group care home until it has 150 percent of that home’s projected first year’s operating expenses. In addition, STARS’ College Avenue resale shop generates more than 40 percent of the group’s annual need, he said. “I think we’re pretty stable,” he said. “I think we’ve taken a very conservative approach financially.” Chase also said the group is continuing to try to work with neighbors. “We’ve also done some things to make sure the home looks like it would fit in a neighborhood and isn’t overwhelming in size,” Chase said. “There even are architectural variations between the two homes so they look like different homes.” Wheaton’s Planning and Zoning Board unanimously voted in June to recommend that the City Council approve the project. Last week, three-fourths of the Group Care Home Commission’s members signed off on the project as well. Group Care Home Commission board member Chris Ellerman praised STARS for proposing two linked structures rather than one larger one. He also lauded the group’s model, which involves a married couple living with the developmentally disabled adults, with the adults’ aging parents or relatives being involved on a weekly basis and typically coming by to visit over the dinner hour. “In terms of a home for disabled adults in the community they have grown up in, absolutely,” Ellerman said. “This is their town. I live two blocks away, and I’d be ashamed if I didn’t want to welcome them in my community..” Group Care Home Commission board member Matthew McNear was the lone vote against the license. In an interview on Friday, he noted his concerns about the “scope” of the proposed home and some of the other issues that neighbors had raised. “I think STARS is a great organization and they do a lot of good there, but I think this probably could use some more discussion or some more review,” he said. With the group care home license now in hand, the proposal next heads to the Wheaton City Council for its consideration, likely sometime in October, said Jim Kozik, the city’s director of planning and economic development.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The average total compensation for partners at Chicago law firms increased 13 percent in the last two years to $780,000, according to a new study. The growth rate eclipsed New York, where partners in the country’s largest legal market averaged $1.7 million annually, but compensation only went up 5 percent from 2014. By contrast, partners in San Francisco saw their comp shoot up 51 percent to $997,000, according to the report from New York-based legal recruiters Major Lindsey & Africa. The survey sample included more than 2,100 partners from across the country, with 244 from Chicago. The survey only went to lawyers practicing at the country’s largest firms; approximately 8,600 of Cook County’s more than 45,000 lawyers work at such operations. The city’s partners had the 10th highest average compensation among the 14 legal markets ranked by the headhunting firm. Growth in compensation has slowed since the last time the firm conducted the survey: Between 2012 and 2014, comp for the city’s senior lawyers grew nearly 20 percent from $575,000. Chicago’s lower compensation average may stem from the city’s historic practice of making lawyers partner at a younger age, said Jeffrey Lowe, the Washington D.C.-based author of the study. More of the partners taking the survey in Chicago are likely billing at the same rates as associates elsewhere in the country. Chicago’s billing rates, too, are a comparative bargain compared to the rest of the country. Partners in Chicago on average billed at $687 per hour. Only Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, Miami and “other” markets had lower rates. Just over a quarter of Chicago’s partners rated themselves as either “not at all” or “not very” satisfied with their compensation.)

http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/2016/10/12/group-home-for-young-mothers-proposed-for-former-wheaton-inn/a8390an/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A group home for new and expectant single mothers is being proposed for the former Wheaton Inn building at 301 W. Roosevelt Road in Wheaton. The Clarendon Hills-based company Love From Above Inc. has a contract to purchase the building from its current owner, PCM Properties LLC, a subsidiary of Invesco PowerShares. The group is set to close on the property in December. Love From Above plans to offer a two-year transitional housing program for women who find themselves in “crisis pregnancies,” said Yvonne Florczak-Seeman, president and founder of Love From Above. A culinary program and fashion design program also will be offered, she said. “We’ll also have a full-blown child care program, where their children will stay within the building,” Florczak-Seeman said. “Babies will be taken care of by volunteers while the moms go to school. We’ll have a full-time licensed teacher on the premises as well who will also work with them on their homework and give classes on finances and mothering classes.” The program would be offered to women 18 to 26 years old, she said, and would serve both expectant mothers and single mothers. The facility would serve up to 12 women. This would be the company’s first facility, which will be called The Butterfly Garden…A Place for Healing and Transformation. Florczak-Seeman, who is 52, experienced an unplanned pregnancy herself when she was 16. “Unfortunately, the choice for me was made to have an abortion,” she said. “I didn’t have any other options. That abortion brought forth some very serious emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual aftermath.” Florczak-Seeman said she wants those in the program to understand “pregnancy is not a terminal disease.” “Pregnancy is not something that will kill them,” she said. “Pregnancy is something that lasts nine months. During that time, they can still continue their education. They can still do what they need to do. They can still have these children and be great mothers, and be successful young ladies in school.”)

http://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511018371-former-cod-board-member-savage-asks-federal-government-to-shut-down-dupage-policy-journal
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The filing questions the independence of the DuPage Policy Journal — alleging it is run by a political organization — and contends it should not be entitled to press exemption from campaign finance laws. Savage’s filing alleges the DuPage Policy Journal is not an independent newspaper, but rather is controlled by the Liberty Principles PAC through Dan Proft. Proft is a businessman, a radio talk-show host and a principal of Local Government Information Services, which owns the DuPage Policy Journal. Proft denied allegations made in the FEC filing and said the newspaper is owned by a private company. “It’s a legitimate newspaper just like any other newspaper,” Proft told the Associated Press. “I’ll put the stories we do on politics and policy up against any other newspaper in the state.” Rich Miller, publisher of the Capital Fax political blog and newsletter, agreed in a post that the problem with the filing is that the newspaper is owned by a private company. “Look, I do not want the federal government defining what is and is not a legit media company,” Miller wrote. “Progress Illinois does good work, but it gets most of its money from SEIU. I don’t know who funds Illinois Review, but I’m fine with them, too. Stay the heck away.” The FEC has 15 days to get a response from those accused in the complaint. It will then make a decision on whether to launch a full investigation.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/wheaton/news/ct-wheaton-single-mothers-home-1007-20161006-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A long-vacant office building in a prominent Wheaton location could be repurposed as a group home for new and expectant single mothers. Built in 1987 as the Wheaton Inn bed-and-breakfast, the 19,813-square-foot, three-story brick building at 301 W. Roosevelt Road, later was used as the offices for Invesco PowerShares, an exchange-traded fund firm. The company relocated to offices in the former Sara Lee building in Downers Grove in July 2012, and since then, the building has been vacant and listed for sale. Now, the Clarendon Hills-based nonprofit group Love from Above has a contract to purchase the building and is proposing to place up to 12 expectant mothers in the house. The group’s founder and CEO, Yvonne Florczak-Seeman, said Love from Above intends to buy the building from Invesco PowerShares subsidiary PCM Properties LLC and use it for a two-year transitional housing program. The building will be known as the Butterfly Garden, she said. “This is for women in college who get pregnant who want to continue their education but don’t want to have an abortion. For them, their choices are parenting or abortion,” Florczak-Seeman said. For Florczak-Seeman, 52, the issue of support during an unplanned pregnancy is a powerful — and personal — one. As a teenager, she experienced an unplanned pregnancy and made the decision to have an abortion — a decision she says she regrets. “Pregnancy is not a terminal illness or a disease,” she said. “It’s a nine month process. We need to empower these girls. Motherhood won’t destroy them; it will mature them. Motherhood or adoption is a beautiful decision. I have been feeling that this kind of program is much needed. There is not one organization that empowers young ladies.” The building will serve as the home for women ages 18 to 26 for two years each, Florczak-Seeman said. The building would have a nursery to care for babies whose mothers want to attend classes. The group also would offer on-site culinary and fashion design programs for mothers, she said. The group, which also would place all of its offices on the first floor of the building, relies on private donors, Florczak-Seeman said. “We are very excited,” she said. Wheaton officials said that while they have received an application from the group, they haven’t yet determined what kind of zoning change, if any, the group’s proposed use would require. PCM Properties LLC bought the building for $2.625 million in 2005 from Kathryn Harbison, who had run the Wheaton Inn bed-and-breakfast.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Every week, the Illinois Valley Times reaches mailboxes in La Salle County, with stories promoting the candidacies of Republican state representative candidates Jerry Long and David Welter. One of its owners, Dan Proft, is largely mum about the local paper, which is among a string of conservative publications popping up around the state this year. The local paper, which started in July, has no advertising, other than for a nonprofit conservative group to which Proft belongs. The chain was started in the winter by the Chicago-based Liberty Principles PAC, which receives much of its money from Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner. Over the summer, a private corporation, Local Government Information Services Inc., took possession of the papers, Proft said. The company filed its corporate paperwork with the state in mid-August, a few weeks into its management of the papers. The Times asked Proft how the company makes money with its newspapers. “I’m certain you don’t understand how newspapers or businesses make money,” Proft said in an email to a reporter. “In addition to ads, have you ever heard of the concept of subscriptions as a revenue source for newspapers, for example? Are you familiar with the concept of seed capital used to launch and grow a business? I didn’t think so.” Proft said the reporter could not be fair in reporting about his company’s newspapers, suggesting the reporter favors Long’s opponent, Rep. Andy Skoog, D-La Salle. “That makes you an advocate not a journalist. So please make sure Andy Skoog reports your ‘stories’ as in-kind contributions (in his campaign reports),” Proft said in an email. The registered agent for the company is an accountant, which often is the case in corporate filings. The company’s information listed no president, though Proft has confirmed before he is one of the owners. Proft, a former Republican candidate for governor and radio show host, declined to answer whether any seed money for the company came from Liberty Principles PAC. By law, political action committees must report expenditures and donations. He also wouldn’t say whether the papers would stop circulating after the Tuesday, Nov. 8, election. The paper regularly runs stories favorable to Long, of Streator, and Rep. David Welter, R-Morris, who is facing Democrat Martha Shugart, of Morris. The most recent editions contained headlines such as “Long supports Illinois farming” and “Welter seeks district input.” ‘Justifiable grounds’  In March, the state Board of Elections ruled complaints against Liberty Principles and its papers were filed on “justifiable grounds.” The complaints alleged Liberty Principles failed to include proper attribution of its papers’ funding source and coordinated with candidates. In its ruling, the elections board said Liberty Principles was “admonished” to ensure all its political literature and communications identify the PAC as its funder. Specifically, it must include “paid for by” language. At some point afterward, Local Government Information Services took control of the papers. In July and August, the Illinois Valley Times included no ownership information. Now it lists its corporate owner, but still includes no phone number. Skoog tied to Mautino  Liberty Principles, which Proft heads, still involves itself in La Salle County. This week, the group distributed a mailer linking Skoog to his predecessor, Frank Mautino, D-Spring Valley, whose campaign spending is under federal investigation. “Will Andy Skoog be any different than Frank Mautino?” the flier asks. Earlier this year, Skoog publicly asked Mautino to answer questions about his spending. But, like Gov. Rauner, Skoog declined to join calls for Mautino’s resignation as state auditor general, saying he wants investigations completed first.”)

http://www.gopusa.com/?p=15671
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “He that will not work shall not eat (except by sickness he be disabled). For the labors of 30 or 40 honest and industrious men shall not be consumed to maintain 150 idle loiterers.” — John Smith, 1609  One out of 6 prime-working-age adult males in the United States is not temporarily unemployed, or “between jobs,” or “looking for work.” No, a huge cohort of men in America is now neither employed nor looking for work. They are just skating by on a combination of girlfriends, wives, mothers and government benefits. Their status, argues Nicholas Eberstadt in “Men Without Work,” is a “quiet catastrophe.” Until relatively recently, choosing not to work was a luxury only the wealthy could afford. Everyone else had to keep the wolf from the door (though the temptation to try to live off others has always been with us — see John Smith above). In the 1950s, 98 percent of prime-age males were working or looking for work (i.e., in the labor force). Today it is 88 percent. Recessions have affected labor-force participation, but the downward trend line has been consistent for decades. Only 15 percent of non-working men cite inability to find work as the reason for their idleness. Eberstadt examines the usual explanations. The retirement of baby boomers? It doesn’t account for the decline in work by those aged 25-54 (traditionally, the group most likely to be employed). The participation of prime-age men in the labor force fell from 94.1 percent in 1948 to 84.3 percent in 2015. Aren’t more men in college? If the work patterns of 1965 were obtained today, even accounting for the extra students enrolled in education programs, an additional 10 percent of America’s young men would be employed. “The overwhelming majority of adult male job trainees,” Eberstadt writes, “appear to be job holders already. … Most men enrolled in formal schooling are also in the workforce.”)

Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the patrol officer told him she did not use her gun to defend herself for fear of a backlash.  “She didn’t want her family or the department to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news,” he said. The injured officer, a 17-year Chicago police veteran, got into a struggle with a man who allegedly was high on PCP after she stopped at a crash scene in the Austin community on the West Side on Wednesday morning. The suspect smashed the officer’s face into the pavement repeatedly until she was unconscious, police said.)

But Tonia Khouri, Republican candidate for the 11th Congressional District on the November ballot, had a definite ace in the hole at Tuesday’s candidate fair and forum at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora. The event was hosted by the YMCA Youth and Government delegations from Indian Prairie District 204’s three high schools in conjunction with the civics education group Mikva Challenge and the League of Women Voters of Naperville. Khouri was one of eight candidates and one candidate representative appealing for voter and volunteer support. — Will Illegal Foreign Voters Steal the Election? – Michelle Malkin  (DIERSEN: How many of the many millions who are in America illegally will use their false identifications to vote for Clinton and for the other Democrats?  Ever-increasingly, Democrats side with illegals and against Americans.)
http://www.gopusa.com/?p=15631
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “It could all come down to Colorado.”  That’s the latest conventional wisdom from presidential poll watchers. But it may not be legal American citizens in my adopted home state who choose the next commander in chief. Instead, it could very well be foreign noncitizens voting illegally in the Rocky Mountains — and in other crucial swing states — who seal our country’s fate. Former Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler identified nearly 5,000 noncitizens in Colorado who voted in the 2010 general election. Gessler’s office uncovered upwards of 12,000 noncitizens registered to vote. Liberal groups who oppose stronger election system protections attacked him for trying to verify citizenship status — because God forbid public officials sworn to uphold the rule of law actually do anything to enhance the integrity of our election system! Compounding the problem: The militant immigration expansionist group Mi Familia Vota, connected with the Service Employees International Union, has ramped up its efforts in swing states to facilitate naturalization and registration of Latino voters who will promote the open-borders agenda at the polls. Another rare defender of American sovereignty, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, fought in court for his state’s right to require citizenship documents from people who register to vote at motor vehicle offices. Last month, a federal appeals court struck down the Kansas law despite the U.S. Constitution’s conferral of responsibility for determining who may vote to states. In a scene straight out of “Alice in Wonderland,” Kobach faced a contempt hearing for battling against those who hold contempt for truly free and fair elections. He was forced to sign an agreement with the ACLU allowing more than 18,000 motor-voter registrants to cast ballots this November while litigation continues. Last year, undercover investigative journalist James O’Keefe and his Project Veritas team blew the whistle on North Carolina political operatives who encouraged people to vote even if they were noncitizens. Like Kobach, O’Keefe endures attacks on his efforts to ensure clean elections by grievance-mongers screaming about phony voter “disenfranchisement.” Never mind that a nonpartisan study in 2014 from Old Dominion University concluded “that 6.4 percent of noncitizens voted in 2008 and 2.2 percent of noncitizens voted in 2010.” Put on your shocked faces: These illegal noncitizen voters overwhelmingly supported Democrats. And their votes were enough to tilt the presidential election results in North Carolina to President Obama, along with handing over “Democratic victories in congressional races including a critical 2008 Senate race (Al Franken’s victory in Minnesota) that delivered for Democrats a 60-vote filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.” The ACLU and other left-wing groups sabotaging voter integrity laws see no voter fraud, hear no voter fraud and speak no voter fraud. Thanks to their efforts, voter ID laws have been tossed in Texas, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Committed to flooding the voting rolls with every last potential Democrat constituent, their operational motto is: No unqualified voter left behind. But J. Christian Adams, a former Justice Department election lawyer in the Voting Rights Section, has exposed the systemic assault on the election process at every level by activist groups funded by liberal billionaire George Soros, including: –Blocking citizenship verification. –Automatic voter registration of welfare recipients without local verification checks. –Massive foreign language ballot expansion. –Obstruction of efforts to include state qualification instructions on voter registration forms. This past week, the Public Interest Law Foundation uncovered thousands of foreign aliens registered to vote in swing states Virginia and Pennsylvania thanks to the federal Motor Voter law. It’s the tip of the iceberg because the studies include just a small sample of counties. Oh, Virginia voters, you’ll be thrilled to know that your top election officials are now trying to cover up the true extent of the scandal. PILF noted that the commissioner of the Virginia Department of Elections issued a written guidance to local election officials instructing them “not to respond to our requests for records pertaining to non-citizen voters.” In Pennsylvania, election officials are so apathetic and incompetent that even when aliens begged to get off the voter rolls because they had never registered to vote in the first place, they were ignored. Catherine Engelbrecht of election integrity activist group True the Vote is right: “Just voting isn’t enough.” Keeping this republic depends on the vigilance of citizens committed to an almost impossible task these days: Making American elections American again.)

COLLEGE FIX
— Black student rejects victimhood status: ‘I am going to break stereotypes’ – WILLIAM NARDI (DIERSEN: Ever-increasingly, Democrats and RINOs shout at minorities, at women, at younger people, at veterans, and at everyone else that Republicans have caused, are causing, and will forever cause all the problems that minorities, women, younger people, veterans, and everyone else has had, are having, and will have.)
http://www.thecollegefix.com/post/29344/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As a young, black woman, life on campus is not always easy for Roger Williams University freshman Kalasia Richer. But her hardships are not the result of slavery from years past – as her professors and peers like to insist – but instead from the current political persecution she says she faces for being a conservative on a liberal college campus. “I have been told since day one that I would not succeed without the demeaning benefits of affirmative action,” says Richer, 18. “One of my professors actually told me that it’s offensive to say that everyone can achieve the American dream.” Statements like these are common among the liberal academia, who teach that “systemic oppression” and “institutionalized racism” are the most significant factors of whether or not one will achieve success in life. But because Richer doesn’t but into it, she’s mocked and ridiculed and blackballed. “One of my classes is entirely structured around the so-called belief in ‘white privilege,’” she told The College Fix, referring to a humanities elective. “Professors shame white students from speaking up against it, and whenever I do they look at me like I’m a traitor.” According to Richer, a political science major, such classes victimize women of color and force other students to justify their current “oppression.” In an attempt to balance the political climate of her campus, Richer took a position as the secretary of a proposed chapter of the conservative Young Americans for Freedom group. But late last month, student government leaders refused to allow the club to officially be recognized on campus, accusing it of being too similar to the College Republicans. “I was disgusted by the hostility I felt for daring to give a voice to conservatives on campus,” she says. “College is advertised as a place for your mind to grow, but I didn’t realize how much of a lie it was until I saw firsthand how these ‘student leaders’ attempt to dictate how students think on campus.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: According to the Economic Policy Institute, a left-leaning Washington think tank, the average 1 percenter family in McLean County earned $679,124 three years ago (the latest data available), while the remaining 99 percent earned an average of $51,440. That means a 1 percenter here makes about 13 times more than the rest of us earn, on average. That ratio puts McLean County pretty much in the middle of a ranking of the nation’s 3,064 counties. Somewhat comforting, I think, especially in the context of some other EPI data. For instance, McLean County’s 1 percenters take in 11.8 percent of the income earned here. That compares with 26 percent in Lake County — the high water mark in Illinois — and the national average of 20.1 percent. The latter two numbers are stunners. A local figure that may trouble egalitarians more is that 41 percent of McLean County’s moolah is made by the top 10 percent of earners. Another way to say that: 10 percent of local households take in 41 cents of every dollar earned here. Yet it’s 57 cents in Lake County, and about 48 cents in all of Illinois and the entire nation. Again, striking numbers. Do you aspire to be a 1 percenter in McLean County? Your family would have to earn at least $365,000 to make the cut — about $24,000 less than the national average. The best (and fresher) news comes from the U.S. Census Bureau. Last year, it says, nearly 5,700 McLean County residents climbed out of poverty. Unfortunately 19,116 McLean County residents are still classified as poor. That’s 11.5 percent of our population — a big number, to be sure, but 3.4 percentage points better than two years ago.)

— Serve your country while earning valuable career skills. – Megan Leonhardt (DIERSEN: I was a federal employee for almost 30 years; almost 3 years working for the Post Office 1966-1969, almost 9 years working for IRS 1971-1980, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 level (currently $77,899-$88,286), and almost 18 years working for GAO 1980-1997, the last 11 of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 level (currently $92,632-$120,427).  Of course, needless-to-say, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois viciously demonize, viciously denigrate, and viciously condemn the skills that acquired working for the federal government.)
http://time.com/money/4515096/hillary-clinton-national-service-reserve-millennials/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Hillary Clinton wants you to serve your country. The Democratic presidential candidate proposed a new program on Friday aimed at expanding national service volunteer opportunities–for young Americans in particular. Clinton’s National Service Reserve would allow Americans pitch in with ongoing service projects addressing the addiction epidemic or helping the homeless, or perhaps to help provide emergency relief in national disasters and situations such as the water crisis in Flint, Mich. Clinton plans to work with corporations and universities to ensure “reservists” get paid time off to volunteer or, in the case of students, college credit.)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/elgin-courier-news/news/ct-ecn-kane-board-members-hours-pension-st-1003-20160930-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Kane County board members must track their hours on timesheets in order to qualify for pensions under a new law Gov. Bruce Rauner recently signed. The county’s Finance Department showed the Finance and Budget Committee newly designed timesheets that will be required to report their hours if they plan to continue with the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund’s (IMRF) pension program. Under the law, newly elected part-time county board members will no longer qualify for taxpayer funded pensions while existing board members will still qualify but must document they worked the required 600 hours a year, according to a law initiated by state Rep. Jack D. Franks (D-Marengo). Rauner signed a bill outlining the changes into law late last month. Kane County board members also serve as commissioners on the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, however, it is a separate governing body that is not addressed in the new law, said John Hoscheit, chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee. The time sheet deals with county board work and must be kept by board members who want to continue participating in the IMRF pension program, he said.)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— Groupon to turn over workforce data in race discrimination case – CLAIRE BUSHEY  (DIERSEN: Of course, needless-to-say, EEOC wants Groupon to be like GAO.  To get Democrats, minorities, females, younger people, and veterans to apply for jobs at Groupon like they do at GAO and to stay at Groupon like they stay at GAO,  Groupon could become like GAO.  Groupon could learn from GAO by reading all the documents filed in Diersen v. GAO at
https://gopillinois.com/diersen-v-gao-fifth-amended-complaint/.  That lawsuit shows that a) GAO gives preference to job applicants and to its employees who are Democrat, minority, female, younger, and/or veteran, and therefore b) discriminates against job applicants and its employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20160930/NEWS04/160939981/groupon-to-turn-over-workforce-data-in-race-discrimination-case
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A judge has ordered Groupon to turn over workforce and hiring data to the federal agency charged with investigating companies for job discrimination. U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis ruled on Sept. 21 that the Chicago company will need to provide the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission with demographic information on both its workforce and the men and women logged in its job applicant database. The agency is investigating the company for racial discrimination in hiring. Groupon had been fighting an EEOC subpoena for the data, arguing that it was irrelevant, overly broad and burdensome. Ellis dismissed all three objections. “When investigating a charge of race discrimination, EEOC ‘is authorized to consider where the overall conditions in a workplace support’ the allegations,” Ellis wrote. Two-thirds of Groupon’s U.S. workforce is white, according to a company blog post. Court filings say the company has 1,900 employees in Chicago and received 25,000 job applications between Jan. 1, 2014 and the present. A spokesman for Groupon did not immediately return a request for comment. The agency is investigating a claim by Adrian Stratton, who filed a charge of racial discrimination in October 2014, after the company did not hire him for an open position as vice president of merchandising. But the successful pursuit of Groupon’s data makes the case “much more significant than just a single subpoena,” said Linda Friedman, a name partner at Stowell & Friedman in Chicago who represents plaintiffs in discrimination cases. Like Wall Street, racial minorities are underrepresented in the tech industry. The EEOC can use workforce and hiring data to analyze the racial makeup of a company’s workforce compared to the community in which it recruits. The greater the disparity, the greater the likelihood of discrimination. The agency is exercising its power to broadly investigate a company in the name of the public interest, rather than getting bogged down in the specifics of a single individual’s claim. “A lot of people feel the EEOC has been too quiet and too silent,” she said. “So it’s good to see it’s alive and breathing.”)
