https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/nicholas-sandmann-reaches-settlement-with-nbc
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Sandmann became the center of attention after a viral confrontation between him and a Native American man named Nathan Phillips at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., after attending events associated with the March for Life with classmates from Covington Catholic. Sandmann, wearing a “MAGA” hat, smiled at Phillips, an attendee of the Indigenous Peoples March who sang and played a drum in front of the teenager. Video of the encounter led to a media firestorm, and the ensuing litigation highlighted the reporting as incorrectly portraying the teenager as the face of an unruly and racist mob. The defamation lawsuit Sandmann filed against NBC Universal, which sought $275 million, said NBC “unleashed its vast corporate wealth, influence, and power against Nicholas to falsely attack him despite the fact that at the time, he was a 16-year-old high school student.”)

https://www.politico.com/newsletters/illinois-playbook/2021/12/17/ken-griffin-and-the-dark-money-of-2022-495511
— Ken Griffin and the dark money of 2022: SCOOP: The head of a dark money group that helped defeat last year’s graduated income tax measure is behind a campaign to elect a Republican candidate to run against Gov. JB Pritzker in 2022. And the money behind the effort will come from billionaire Ken Griffin. Mike Zolnierowicz, who was former Gov. Bruce Rauner’s first chief of staff, is working the levers of this operation, according to two Playbook sources. The former governor, however, is not involved. Zolnierowicz, or Mike Z, did not return a request for comment. Interviews with potential candidates have been held in secrecy with Zolnierowicz. Word got out, however, that there’s interest in Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin to run for governor and state Rep. Avery Bourne to join the ticket as lieutenant governor. Neither returned requests for comment. It’s part of a plan for Griffin to bankroll a slate of GOP candidates, reports Lee Enterprises’ Brenden Moore. A source close to Griffin said the Citadel CEO has not met with any candidates and has not yet decided who he is going to support. Griffin is clear about his concerns for Illinois. “We have real problems in Illinois with violence, corruption and profligate spending and I look forward to supporting candidates — be it Republican or Democrat — who will address these issues that plague our state,” he said in a statement to Playbook. A source who spoke to Playbook about Mike Z, also said Griffin has committed $150 million to the campaign, which would match what Pritzker spent in his first run for governor. Other media reports have attributed “multiple sources” as saying Griffin is willing to spend as much as $300 million in next year’s election. Those numbers are all speculation, according to a source close to Griffin. “The field for next year’s election hasn’t fully formed yet and Ken hasn’t made a decision. …There is also no spending number as there is no candidate.” Still pining for Griffin’s support are the current field of candidates: state Sen. Darren Bailey of Xenia, former state Sen. Paul Schimpf of Waterloo, and businessmen Gary Rabine and Jesse Sullivan. ABOUT IRVIN: “In 2007, Irvin became the first Black male elected to the Aurora City Council as an at-large member, and held that post until his election as mayor. … In October, he laughed off a Tribune reporter’s question about a gubernatorial run or whether he had been in talks with Griffin. There are also questions about Irvin’s positions on social issues that run counter to those held by the GOP base.” He has said he supports abortion rights, immigrant rights, and implementing sanctuary city-style policies for immigrants who lack legal status, reports Tribune’s Rick Pearson. ABOUT TODD RICKETTS: The Cubs co-owner “had previously announced he would not run for governor. But asked about that possibility [Thursday], his spokesman discouraged, but did not rule out, such a possibility, saying, ‘Ricketts has no current plans to run for governor,’” reports Crain’s Greg Hinz. — SHIA KAPOS

(COMMENT: I should write a book about those who paint themselves as being woke, that is, who paint themselves as being anti-Trump, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-heterosexual, anti-traditional marriage/family, anti-non-poor people, anti-gun owners, anti-Christian, anti-Protestant, anti-Italian American, anti-German American, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time. I would focus on the following: a) leaders of the Illinois Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and Milton Township Republican Organization, b) Republican leaders of Illinois, DuPage County, Milton Township, Wheaton, Wheaton Park District, and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, c) conservative and religious leaders, d) Republican candidates on ballots in my precinct, their political consultants, major donors, fundraisers, pollsters, campaign managers, campaign staff members, and campaign volunteers, and e) those who I have sued. I would focus on those who a) demand blind loyalty to them and to them only and b) destroy those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, who refuse to glorify and praise them, who refuse to pander to them, who refuse to serve as one of their operatives or dupes, who refuse to cover up their wrongdoing, and/or who refuse to give them money.)

POWERLINE
— THE LIMITS OF CORPORATE WOKENESS – PAUL MIRENGOFF
(COMMENT: Democrats and RINOs use Affirmative Action, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to get rid of Republicans who are White, male, older, non-veteran, Protestant, German American, etc. Democrat and RINO government employers have far more motivation and power a) to not hire Republicans and b) to get rid of their Republican employees. Just look at how GAO, IRS, and the Post Office treated me. Just look at how RINO politicians in Illinois, DuPage County, Milton Township, and Wheaton treat me. Just look at now the Illinois Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and Milton Township Republican Organization treat me.)

https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/12/the-limits-of-corporate-wokeness.php
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As noted above, the Post asserts the existence of the gap based on its finding that Blacks are 12 percent of the population and 8 percent of high level executives. But high level corporate executives are not drawn from the general population or from the non-incarcerated population, of which Blacks make up a slightly smaller percentage. No reasonable person would argue that they should be. Corporate executives are, and should be, drawn from the portion of the U.S. population that it is highly accomplished. Do Blacks make up 8 percent of that population? I doubt it. Consider the portion of graduating high school students who are highly accomplished. First, to a disproportionate extent, Blacks don’t graduate from high school. Second, Blacks don’t make up 8 percent of the highly accomplished students who do graduate. We know this because, if it were otherwise, elite colleges wouldn’t have to grant stark racial preferences to attain 8 percent black representation. But statistics show that they must grant such preferences if they are to admit that percentage. Absent preferences, elite colleges, and many others, would be hard pressed to get to half of 8 percent. Next, consider law school performance. Do Blacks make up 8 percent of highly accomplished law students? I don’t think so. They didn’t when I was on the hiring and recruiting committee of my former law firm. Top law firms had to reach far below the top 10 percent to extend more than a tiny number of offers to Blacks. Additional evidence came from professor Amy Wax of the University of Pennsylvania law school, before the school silenced her. Wax had the audacity to say “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a black student graduate in the top quarter of the class [I teach to first year law students] and rarely, rarely in the top half.” Her law school was outraged by this statement, but didn’t (and I assume couldn’t) dispute its accuracy. Something very similar happened at Georgetown law school. It fired an adjunct professor for saying, privately, that Blacks make up a disproportionate number of low-performing students in the class she taught. Thus, if Blacks really do make up 8 percent of top corporate executives, it’s likely that they are overrepresented in these jobs if the criterion is merit, as it should be, rather than skin color. And if George Floyd’s tragic encounter with Derek Chauvin hasn’t helped pushed the percentage above 8 percent, that’s evidence that, as woke as it is, corporate America hasn’t completely lost its mind.)

NEW YORK TIMES
— You Love That House, but Should You Write a Love Letter? A common practice in real estate is coming under new scrutiny because of concerns about discrimination. And one state has made it illegal. – Candace Jackson
(DIERSEN: From what I see watching home purchases in my precinct since 1984, it ever-increasing looks like Democrat realtors steer homebuyers to my precinct who are Democrat, moderate, liberal, LGBTQ, non-Protestant, and/or non-German American. Ever-increasingly, it looks like Democrat realtors stress to potential homebuyers a) that ever-increasingly, Democrats get more votes in the precinct, for example, Biden got 269 votes while Trump got only 157, b) that there are LGBTQ-promoting churches immediately north and south of the precinct, c) that the Wheaton Warrenville School District 200 Administration Headquarters is in the precinct, and d) that a grade school and middle school are in the precinct.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/17/realestate/you-love-that-house-but-should-you-write-a-love-letter.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But last year, the National Association of Realtors issued a warning about the practice, cautioning that it may make sellers and agents vulnerable to accusations of discrimination, as love letters often disclose personal details that can reveal buyers’ family status, religion, sexual orientation or race — all protected statuses under fair housing laws. (The Fair Housing Act prevents landlords, banks, real estate agents and anyone else involved in leasing or selling homes from discriminating on the basis of race, sex, disability status, religion, national origin or familial status; states like California recognize additional protected categories, including occupation and gender expression.) Realtors’ organizations in California and Ohio followed suit. And this year, the state of Oregon took it a step further, passing legislation banning such letters. Starting in January 2022, it will be illegal for a seller’s agent to pass a love letter along to a client in Oregon. Mark Meek, the Oregon State Representative who proposed the legislation, said the idea emerged from his own experience as a real estate agent, observing the disparity in homeownership among racial groups, something he formed a task force to address in 2018. In 2019, he said, the rate of white homeownership in Oregon was 65 percent, compared with 35 percent for Black residents and 40 percent for Hispanic residents. “Whoever is the successful bidder of a home should be based on the qualification of the offer,” Mr. Meek said. “Not the preference of that seller.”)

ACCOUNTANCY AGE
— “Still work to be done” on diversity in accountancy, industry leaders say. Research shows that more work is needed from firms. – Natasha Spencer-Jolliffe
(COMMENT: When I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old, a very high percentage of my superiors, supervisors, and coworkers a) were Democrats, b) were Whites, c) were males, d) were older, e) were veterans, f) had accounting degrees from non-Ivy League universities, g) were non-Protestant, and h) were non-German American. When Charles Bowsher took over GAO in 1981 and ran it for the next 15 years, he focused on getting rid of GAO employees who were Republican, White, male, older, non-veteran, and/or who had accounting degrees from non-Ivy League Universities and who had not made GS-13 (currently $102,188) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $120,755) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $142,041) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $172,500) by age 40. Extremely few GAO employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines. My Democrat GAO superiors did everything that they could to get rid of me because I was Republican, White, male, old, non-veteran, my 1980 master’s degree in accounting was from DePaul, Protestant, German American, I had taken a $20,361/year in today’s dollars pay cut (a downgrade from GS-12 Step 5 to GS-9 Step 10) to transfer from IRS to GAO, I did not make GS-13 until I was 38 years old in 1986, I never made GS-14, and in 1987, they had gotten rid of the GS-15 GAO manager who had hired me in 1980, got me assigned to audits of IRS in 1986, and promoted me in 1986.. My Democrat GAO superiors would have gotten rid of me sooner if I had not earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, became a licensed CPA in 1981, became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, became a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, became a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, became a Forensic Accountant in 1997, and earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading in 1997.)

DEMOCRATIC PARTY
— THE CURRENT COMMITTEE SYSTEM
(COMMENT: GAO works for Congress. While I worked for the Democrats who ran GAO for almost 18 years, they periodically asked GAO employees for suggestions on how to improve GAO’s credibility with Republican Senators and Representatives. I suggested having at least two Republicans on GAO audit teams for every three Democrats. I also suggested not doing audits unless at least one of the requesters was Republican.)
https://archives-democrats-rules.house.gov/Archives/jcoc2d.htm

(FROM THE RULES: Party leaders also determine the ratio of majority to minority party members on each committee. Under current Democratic Caucus Rules, each standing committee (except Standards) must have at least three Democrats for every two Republicans. While this ratio roughly approximates the ratio of Democrats to Republicans in the overall Chamber, the majority party usually accords itself a super-majority on important panels including Appropriations, Budget, Rules, and Ways and Means.)

— AUGUST 16, 2012 FLASHBACK: A bunch of political info — daily – Bernard Schoenburg
(UPDATE: In 2015, my critics/opponents gerrymandered my DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 in Wheaton. In 2016, I started putting together and sending out a GOPUSA ILLINOIS newsletter each and every evening in addition to each and every morning. Since 2004, those newsletters have included links to more than 414,800 articles and information on many upcoming events. In 2021, my critics/opponents stopped me from raising funds from DuPage Republicans so that DuPage Republicans could help sponsor Wheaton’s Independence Day parade and fireworks.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: (FROM THE ARTICLE: There are lots of websites that compile political news, and I think it’s time I share one that I find quite interesting. There are lots of websites that compile political news, and I think it’s time I share one that I find quite interesting. It’s at www.gopillinois.com , and, as you can tell by its address, it has a Republican flavor. That is an understatement reinforced with the comments added by the compiler himself — DAVID DIERSEN of Wheaton. He introduced a recent UPI story about Republicans’ views on the drought and wildfires by saying: “Democrats blame everything bad, including bad weather, on Republicans, especially on Republicans who are conservative, White, male, older, non-poor and non-veteran.” And talking of a New York Times article about a photographer arrested while on assignment in the Bronx, Diersen wrote that since 2000, he has been thrown out of, barred from, or not advised of news conferences “by Democrats, Democrat plants, RINOs (Republicans in name only), their operatives, and their dupes.” Thus, if you don’t want to read some very pointed comments, you may not want to go to gopillinois.com. But you would be missing a treasure of links to the day’s news and opinion. Diersen, 63, is a retired federal employee who became the Illinois editor of a national GOP website in 2000, and since 2004 has put out his own Illinois compilation every day. There’s usually about 50 articles daily, he says. He’s generally up by 3 a.m. He says he spends at least 10 hours a day on this passion of his, with no pay, and has put out links to more than 117,000 articles. As his comments above hinted, party regulars don’t always greet his work with relish. He includes dissident voices within the GOP tent, and some whose credibility is questionable. But he puts it all out there. He’s a GOP precinct committeeman, and he believes in people having information. He also wants to help elect Republican candidates who “will defend and advance the party’s platform.” The site makes available plenty of Diersen history, too, including how his “liberal Democrat superiors,” in his view, forced him to take early retirement at 49 from the U.S. General Accounting Office, “because of his opposition to race and gender based preference and his participation in a class action lawsuit” on that subject. He wouldn’t mind my telling you that he also passed his CPA and Certified Internal Auditor exams on first attempts more than three decades ago. Agree or disagree with him, but Diersen provides a bunch of interesting information — every day.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A former American Express executive has entered mediation with the financial services company over his federal complaint alleging he was fired for being White and opposing the firm’s diversity agenda. Brian Netzel, a 62-year-old former client manager in Arizona, filed the complaint late last month with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He entered mediation with American Express on Thursday. “On October 30, 2020 AmEx unceremoniously terminated my employment as part of a ‘diversity’ policy that rewarded company executives for making their departments less ‘white,’’ his EEOC complaint states. “My termination was the direct result of me being an older white male, a demographic the company specifically sought to reduce in managerial positions like my own, and in direct retaliation for my stated opposition to AmEx’s racially discriminatory and hostile policies.” Mr. Netzel said he was fired by a higher ranking executive who profited from his termination because the company is awarding bonus points for having more people of color. American Express initiated training based on critical race theory and subsequently fired Mr. Nextel after the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police in May 2020, according to Mr. Netzel and company documents made public by Christopher Rufo of the Manhattan Institute.)

These are three examples of false information being spread about Rittenhouse, whose trial ended last week with his acquittal. Prominent influencers, including lawmakers and reporters, are sources of some of the misinformation—possibly disinformation—leaving experts troubled. On CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, reporter Mark Strassman falsely said Rittenhouse “drove in from Illinois armed for battle.” On CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time” on Friday, Harvard University professor Cornell William Brooks falsely said Rittenhouse was carrying an AK-47. The Independent falsely reported late last week that Rittenhouse shot three black men. Rittenhouse, 17 years old at the time, shot three men, two fatally, with an AR-15 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Aug. 25, 2020. All were white, as is Rittenhouse. But of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes stress that was much easier to do back then. The money a) for tuition and books at UIC 1966-1968, b) for tuition, books, and room and board at NIU 1969-1970, and c) for a new 1968 Oldsmobile 442 in 1967 and a new 1969 Dodge Charger SE in 1968 came from what I earned working part-time for the Park Forest Post Office 1966-1969. DAILY MAIL
— More than HALF of NYPD cops wish they had never joined force, internal memo says, as NYC faces historic crime surge and woke politics that are ‘destroying’ Big Apple – MICHELLE THOMPSON
(COMMENT: In 1980, when I was 31 years old, I agreed to suffer a 21% pay cut ($20,361/year in today’s dollars) to transfer from IRS to GAO in part because GAO claimed to be nonpartisan. I soon learned that claim was false and that GAO was far more partisan than IRS. I should write a book about how the Democrats who ran GAO’s Chicago office a) gave preference to their employees who were Democrat, and especially to those who were minority, female, younger, veteran, moderate, liberal, non-Christian, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or those whose ancestors had not been in America for a long time, that is, they discriminated against their employees who Republican, and especially against those who were White, male, older, non-veteran, conservative, Christian, Protestant, German American, and/or those whose ancestors had been in America for a long time. If I had been a Democrat, GAO would have promoted me into its Senior Executive Service long before I was 40 years old. In 1981, I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA. In 1980, I earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul. In 1979, I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt. In 1976, I earned an MBA from Loyola. But because I was a Democrat, because I opposed patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination, and because in 1988 I became an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged my GAO superiors with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, they forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair job assignments, performance expectations, and performance appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $20,361 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.)

(COMMENT: Ever-increasingly, under the Democrats and under the RINOs, everyone is under ever-increasing pressure to discriminate against those who are Republican, White, male, older, heterosexual, married, non-veteran, non-poor, conservative, Christian, Protestant, German American, those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time, etc. Outstandingly, notwithstanding the aforesaid pressure, the Democrats who ran a) GAO hired me in 1980, promoted me in 1986, and let me work there until 1997, b) IRS hired me in 1971 and promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974 and let me work there until 1980, and c) the Post Office hired me in 1966 and let me work there until 1969. However, outrageously, even though I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, I earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, I became a licensed CPA in 1981, I served as the treasurer of the Association of Government Accountants Chicago Chapter 1983-1986, I became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, I became a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, I became a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, I became a Forensic Accountant in 1997, and I served as the Illinois Center Right Coalition Treasurer 2003-2006, the RINOs who dominate the Milton Township Republican Organization (MTRO) have made it tremendously clear that they do not want me to serve as the organization’s treasurer. To this day, those RINOs crow about the success of their negative campaign to defeat me when I ran for the open MTRO Treasurer position in 2004.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20211118/appointment-of-former-mount-prospect-trustee-leads-to-complaints-about-lack-of-diversity
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Mount Prospect Mayor Paul Hoefert appointed former political rival William Grossi to a seat on the village’s finance commission this week, a move that drew criticism from those calling for more diversity on the town’s volunteer commissions. Hoefert cited the accounting credentials and educational background of Grossi, a former village trustee who ran against Hoefert for mayor in the spring, for his appointment. But Trustees Peggy Pissarreck and Terri Gens voted against it, saying Hoefert missed an opportunity to appoint a qualified woman or a person of color instead. “I am troubled that you have passed over the opportunity to appoint a female person of color with a law degree and a regulatory background who expressed interest months ago,” Pissarreck said. Finance commission member Yulia Bjekic also was critical of the appointment. “I feel we are past the point of walking the talk on diversity, equity and inclusion. We talk about it, and you continue to appoint and reappoint Caucasian males to commissions, and that is unfortunate,” she said. However, Hoefert said the candidate mentioned by Pissarreck expressed interest in the finance commission specifically only two weeks ago, while Grossi applied in May. Trustee Colleen Saccotelli, who supported the appointment, cited Grossi’s past work on the village’s audit committee and his “tremendous experience and institutional knowledge.” Also voting in favor were Trustees John Matuszak and Richard Rogers. Trustee Augie Filippone abstained. Former Trustee Michael Zadel also defended the appointment. “The finance commission is, in fact, one of the most diverse commissions that we have,” he said. “There are not all white Caucasians who have been appointed to this commission over the years.”)

— Instead of a female expansion, America should retire our archaic draft once and for all – REP. VICKY HARTZLER (R-MO.)
(COMMENT: My biggest mistake in my life was my avoiding the draft. I got student draft deferments 1966-1970 and a financial hardship draft deferment 1970-1971. I should write a book about those who have used my avoiding the draft against me the most. I would focus on the adverse actions that a) my Democrat Post Office superiors took against me 1966-1969, b) my Democrat Firestone superior took against me 1970-1972, c) my Democrat IRS superiors took against me 1971-1980, and d) my Democrat GAO superiors took against me 1980-1997. Further, I graduated from NIU in August of 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in management. Employers were under increasing pressure to hire minorities, females, and veterans. Employers saw me as being draft bait. They did not believe that my application for a financial hardship draft deferment would be approved. I accepted the only job offer that I got, to be the Retail Sales Manager in Firestone’s Chicago Heights store. The job did not really require a bachelor’s degree. Immediately after my application was approved in February of 1971, Oldsmobile offered me a job that I accepted. That resulted in my Firestone Store boss rudely firing me. But Oldsmobile withdrew its job offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. That resulted in my accepting a job offer from IRS.)

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/18/books/review/the-99-percent-matthew-stewart.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In his new book, “The 9.9 Percent,” Matthew Stewart focuses on the wealthiest one-tenth of Americans, a “new aristocracy” whose aggregate wealth is four times greater than that of everyone else. A minimum of $1.2 million in assets is required to enter this exclusive club and Stewart writes that the threshold will almost certainly rise by the time his book is published. It’s a club to which white people are eight times more likely to belong than people of color. But what ultimately unites its members is less the size of their bank accounts than a mind-set, Stewart contends. At its core lies “the merit myth,” a shared belief that the affluent owe their success not to the color of their skin or the advantages they’ve inherited but to their talent and intelligence. Under the spell of this conviction, Stewart argues, the privileged engage in practices — segregating themselves in upscale neighborhoods, using their money and influence to get their children into elite colleges — that entrench inequality even as they remain blithely unaware of their role in perpetuating it.)

I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979 and I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981. I became a licensed CPA in 1981, a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, a Certified Government Financial Manager in 1994, a Certified Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and a Forensic Accountant in 1997.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Today, 50% to 78% of working Americans are earning just enough money to pay their bills, and missing a paycheck means some bills simply don’t get paid, resulting in late fees or overdrafts that just put them further in debt. In addition, 22% of American adults are either unbanked or underbanked, according to a 2019 Federal Reserve report, meaning they have no bank account and/or they rely on alternative financial services, such as check-cashing services or money orders to pay bills.)

— ‘You cannot overfund this’: Milton Township officials debate mental health spending – Katlyn Smith
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20211116/you-cannot-overfund-this-milton-township-officials-debate-mental-health-spending
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Township trustees and Supervisor John Monino tentatively agreed to raise property taxes by roughly $800,000 for the 708 mental health board, named for a state House resolution and created by a referendum vote last spring. A final decision on the tax levy is expected on Dec. 14. . .But township trustees were wary of allocating more money for the first grant cycle, though Monino said the board’s request wasn’t “out of line.” “I think that $1 million is a bit much right now,” said Trustee Jeff Castle, adding that he wanted to see what the board will do next year with the township funding. Trustees gave preliminary approval to a tax increase that would cost the owner of a home with an assessed value of $128,444 — the average in Milton Township — an estimated $17.60. The township covers all or parts of Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Carol Stream, Lombard, Glendale Heights and Winfield. “It strikes the right balance between fiscal responsibility and providing for the needs of the community,” Trustee Dan Milinko said of the lower amount.)

— FEBRUARY 27, 2017 FLASHBACK: 10 Times You Should Take a Pay Cut – SUZANNE LUCAS
(COMMENT: GAO audits IRS. When I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31 years old, my Democrat GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates did not want me to transfer, but failing that, they wanted me to transfer as a GS-4 Step 1 (currently $34,956/year) intern, that is, to suffer a $62,439/year (64%) pay cut in today’s dollars. They painted what GAO Analysts do as being a unique “trade or occupation.” They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran. They viciously demonized, denigrated, and condemned the fact a) that I had worked for IRS as a Revenue Officer for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $85,935-$97,395/year, b) that much of what IRS Revenue Officers do is similar to what GAO Analysts do, c) that I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, d) that I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and e) that I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul. They were furious a) that I suffered a pay cut of only $20,361/year (21%) in today’s dollars to transfer and b) that I transferred with me almost 12 years of federal seniority, 30 days of unused vacation days, and 130 unused sick days.)
