CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Cox leads GOP California governor primary; barely noticed when ran in Illinois – Lynn Sweet  (DIERSEN: Trump has endorsed John Cox. Cox and I served together on the Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee. On July 5, 2003, Cox came with the other four announced candidates for U.S. Senate (Chirinjeev Kathuria, Andy McKenna, Jim Oberweis, and Jack Ryan) to a picnic that I arranged in the Prairie Path Park in my precinct. The 200 attendees included Randy Hultgren. We can forever ask ourselves, “What if Trump had endorsed Ives?”)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-met-equal-rights-amendment-illinois-20180530-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Opponents largely contended the measure was aimed at ensuring an expansion of abortion rights for women. Supporters said it was needed to give women equal standing in the nation’s founding document. Opponents also contended the measure may be moot, since it’s original 1982 ratification deadline has long since expired. Supporters argued, however, that the ratification of the 1789 “Madison Amendment” preventing mid-term changes in congressional pay, in 1992 makes the ERA a legally viable change to the constitution. State Rep. Peter Breen of Lombard, an abortion rights opponent, called the measure “an alleged constitutional amendment” and warned it would be adopting an “illegal act.” But Breen also contended supporters “have no other thing they want to do” than expand abortion rights. “It will expand taxpayer funding of abortions, very well might rollback our parental notice (for minors to have an abortion) law and have other negative impacts on various abortion regulations,” Breen said.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Pritzker’s communications director, Galia Slayen, said Pritzker trusts Rock Island County Democratic Chairman Doug House — who also is chair of the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association — to support and lead other county leaders across the state. “Not only has Doug House worked on the county level as a chair, but he is someone that we have worked with in his capacity as president of the IDCCA and we are confident in his ability to build a statewide, grassroots infrastructure that invests in counties across the state so we can beat (Governor) Bruce Rauner and win campaigns up and down the ticket,” Slayen said. House said the donation from Pritzker is the largest Rock Island County Democrats have ever received.)

To vote for the ERA is to vote against the right to life plank in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. In Illinois, if you are going to vote against the IRP platform, you should not seek or hold a government or political office as a Republican.)
https://capitolfax.com/2018/05/30/equal-rights-amendment-passes-with-help-from-durkin/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In a surprising move, House GOP Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) helped give the Equal Rights Amendment the extra boost needed to pass the House. Durkin is a pro-life Catholic, and one of the loudest arguments against the ERA is it will open the door for more abortions. Earlier today Rep. Silvana Tabares (D-Chicago) had an excused absence, and everyone I asked had no idea what was going to happen with the Equal Rights Amendment. Then just before 6 p.m., Lou Lang introduced the ERA. If you heard psychotic clacking down the hallway in the Capitol basement, that was me running for the elevator. Two hours of debate later, it passed. Here’s the roll call. http://www.breitbart.com/2018-elections/2018/05/30/report-summer-hiring-raising-hourly-wages/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The report also noted that more employers are using the federal E-Verify system to screen illegal immigrants from jobs. The survey said that “nearly 40 percent of employers plan to use E-Verify to evaluate summer applicants, up from 25 percent last year.” “Given the current political environment and noise around immigration and non-citizenship status, employers are clearly being more cautious,” said Snag CEO Peter Harrison. The survey’s data suggests that millions of American voters are going to get pay raises during the summer before the election because of President Donald Trump’s lower-immigration/higher-wage policies.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: If you think you’ve been seeing a lot more bright young people living in Chicago lately, you have. Between 2010 and 2016, the city of Chicago gained more households in a key category—total income of more than $100,000 with the head of household under age 45—than any city in the country except for far larger New York, according to newly analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data. Specifically, the number of such households here grew from just under 105,000 to an estimated 131,000, according to the American Community Survey data. That increase of 26,000 led Houston (24,000), San Francisco (23,000), Washington, D.C. (19,000) and Los Angeles (16,000). And while on a percentage basis that demographic grew faster in San Francisco than in Chicago (57 percent versus 27 percent), the Windy City outpaced cities such as Houston and L.A. and tied red-hot Denver.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Laura Ingraham highlighted some of the passages in the racial bias handbook handed out to employees in the training sessions. She said a Starbucks employee she spoke to on Tuesday pointed out that several black and Hispanic workers were “laughing through the book.” The book lays out so-called “Ground Rules,” including “honor[ing] other people’s truth.” Another section of the manual asked employees to recall when they first noticed their racial identity. Another asked employees about going “to work with your natural hair.” Fox News contributor Gianno Caldwell said the training sessions are all about protecting Starbucks’ bottom line, since some African-Americans vowed to boycott Starbucks after the April arrests. Democratic strategist Michael Starr Hopkins said he appreciates what the company did, arguing “far too often in this country we’re afraid to talk about race.”)

To keep their jobs and to get promoted, my Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates focused on getting rid of federal employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/business/wp/2018/05/30/walmart-to-offer-employees-a-college-education-for-1-a-day/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Walmart, the country’s largest private employer, announced Wednesday that it will pay for its workers to go back to school — as long as they get degrees in business or supply-chain management. The retailer is partnering with three universities to offer associate’s and bachelor’s degrees to 1.4 million part-time, full-time and salaried Walmart and Sam’s Club employees — a pitch to improve employee retention rates and engagement at work, while also drawing new workers. Walmart will cover the costs of tuition, books and fees, while employees will be required to pay $1 a day for the duration of their studies. “We know there [are] a lot of benefits from a business perspective,” Drew Holler, vice president of people innovation for Walmart U.S., said on a call with reporters. “We know we’re going to see an influx of applications.” Degrees will be offered by the University of Florida in Gainesville, Brandman University in Irvine, Calif., and Bellevue University in Bellevue, Neb., all nonprofit institutions with online programs for working adults. Rachel Carlson, chief executive of Guild Education, a Denver-based company that will oversee the program, pointed out that the program allows employees to earn a degree without amassing college debt.)

https://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/twitter-special-labels-political-candidates-prevent-spoofing-fake-accounts/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Twitter says it’s adding special labels to tweets from some U.S. political candidates ahead of this year’s midterm elections. Twitter says the move is to provide users with “authentic information” and prevent spoofed and fake accounts from fooling users. The labels will include what office a person is running for and where. Both the candidate’s account and the tweets from it will get labels. The labels will appear on retweets as well as tweets off of Twitter, such as when they are embedded in a news story. Twitter, along with Facebook and other social media companies, has been under heavy scrutiny for allowing their platforms to be misused by malicious actors trying to influence elections around the world. The labels will start to appear next week for candidates for governor and Congress. Twitter wouldn’t say whether it will extend this outside the U.S., where elections interference has also been a big issue. The San Francisco-based company is working with the nonprofit, nonpartisan Ballotpedia to help identify the relevant Twitter accounts.)

— Olsen Bill that Provides Consistent Residency Requirements for Elected Officials Heads to Gov. Rauner for Action (DIERSEN: How long have you lived in your precinct, in your municipality, in your township/ward, in your county, and in Illinois? I have lived a) in my precinct since 1984, b) in Wheaton, Milton Township, and DuPage County since 1978, and c) in Illinois since 1948. — Elizabeth Warren vows to refuse NRA money after never, ever receiving any (DIERSEN: Needless-to-say, in Illinois, those who seek or hold any kind of government or political office as a Republican should not seek or accept any money from any individual, any organization, or any company that rejects planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform. DAILY TORCH
— Federal civil service abuses bigger than just the VA – Natalia Castro (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those who hint/imply/argue/shout that the federal government took the following adverse actions against me solely because I was a BAD employee: My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

— Democrat targeted by party establishment loses Texas primary – LISA HAGEN (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those times when the “party establishment” targeted me. According to the “party establishment,” I am too conservative, that is, I support too many planks in the Illinois Republican platform. But on top of that, in their eyes, my demographics are terrible. I am a Trump supporter, Protestant (baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran), patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, old (born in 1948), rich, gun owner, German American, draft avoider, my ancestors have been in America since 1844, federal retiree, former union member, childless, pet-less, not a church member, not a church goer, I do not give money to a church, etc.)

— Former Exelon chairman John Rowe threatens GOP over DACA – NATASHA KORECKI (DIERSEN: Needless-to-say, Republicans should never seek or accept money to act against the Republican Party platform. If someone claims to be a Republican, but gives money to Republicans to act against the Republican Party platform, they are not Republican. They are Democrat plant, Libertarian plant, Green plant, or RINO. Needless-to-say, Republicans should never seek or accept money to act against the Republican Party platform. Needless-to-say, Roskam should not seek or accept any money from Rowe.)
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/23/dreamers-republican-donor-threaten-603428
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Rowe is especially critical of Rep. Peter Roskam, who is locked in a competitive race — and represents a suburban Chicago district that has the largest DACA population of any Illinois member, according to the Illinois Business Immigration Commission. “I have been actively engaged with the community and various stakeholders and I will make a decision on the right course based on what’s in the best interest of these DREAMers and our nation’s border security,” Roskam said in a statement. “My hope is that Congress will reach a bipartisan agreement to protect children from deportation who were brought to the United States without documentation.” Former Illinois House GOP Minority Leader Tom Cross, who is also calling for a DACA resolution, said hitting lawmakers in their pockets may be the best way to get their attention. “John is a significant donor and has been heavily involved in the Republican Party both in the state and nationally,” Cross said. “There are all kinds of ways to impact members of Congress and the General Assembly. I’m not a donor. I was a recipient as a legislative leader and it can be impactful.”)

I should write a book about those who since 1966 have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me the most for a) my seeking and getting student draft deferments 1966-1970 and b) my seeking and getting a financial hardship draft deferment 1970-1971. While I worked for the federal government 1966-1969 and 1971-1997, virtually all of my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates were Democrats and/or veterans. My superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates who were Democrat hinted/implied/argued/shouted at my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates who were veterans a) that I am a draft dodger, patriotic hypocrite, coward, and even worse things and b) because of the aforesaid, I should pay the price of Affirmative Action, Diversity, Inclusion, budget cuts, etc.)

Because of that, according to Democrats, government should discriminate against those who are male, White, older, Protestant, German American, Republican, and/or rich. KANE COUNTY CHRONICLE

My wife and I have always done that. Since 1997, my income has been 59% less, that is, it has been only $51,864 instead of $125,325 in today’s dollars because my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer.” We spend far less on immediate pleasures than others who share our demographics.)
http://www.kcchronicle.com/2018/05/18/kane-county-board-chairman-people-leaving-state-to-avoid-high-taxes/a9k42ld/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Property tax levels [are] one of the biggest problems that we’re dealing with in Illinois,” he said. “People are moving away from Illinois. Literally 30,000 people moved out [last year].” Recalling his early years in public service, Lauzen said he’d hear from disgruntled homeowners. Now those homeowners aren’t calling him, but are leaving the state for good. “It usually was the seniors, the older folks, who used to call,” he said. “The older men would call up and they’d holler at you and the older ladies, they’d call and cried about the property tax burden. And they’re living on fixed incomes and it was a huge problem. “These days, I think many of us are finding that they don’t call anymore. It’s almost like they’ve given up and they just move so that’s a terrible thing.” Lauzen explained that change is long overdue and one of the ways to do that is to stop taxing people out of their homes. He believes he’s made a lot of progress during the past seven years. “Before I had the privilege to serve as chairman, we had a 50 percent increase in the property taxes to support the county,” he said. “In the last seven years it’s leveled out at zero increase.” That includes having to insert into the base the new construction while excluding a cost of living increase. “I’m very proud of holding the line,” he said. “But it is naturally getting harder and harder to live within our means without asking people for more.” Lauzen said that the public often complains about the spending, but that he’s doing his part to help reduce debt. “[The public] says that all you guys and ladies do is borrow and spend,” he said. “We’ve paid off approximately 65 percent of the debt in the last six to seven years.” Lauzen closed his presentation by sharing a slide of three beliefs that he referred to as “Truly Dumb Ideas.” He said that he hopes no one who attended the luncheon ever allows any of them to see the light of day. It includes combining all local pensions into one, increasing property taxes by 1 percent of the home value to pay off the state’s pensions unfunded liabilities and running the government like a business. Mark Pietrowski, DeKalb County chairman, and Scott Gryder, Kendall County chairman, also made presentations during the luncheon.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Illinois needs to rise up for air, and they need to be able to keep their money rather than turn it over to multiple forms of government,” GOP Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti told the Herald & Review in an interview last week, echoing a common criticism raised by Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner. A bill that would make it easier to mount township abolition campaigns in McHenry County passed through the Illinois House on an 80-22 vote, though it has faced adversity since arriving in the Senate. If approved before the session ends this month, the plan sponsored by state Rep. David McSweeney, a Republican from Barrington Hills, would allow townships to consolidate via a majority vote in a referendum, and could be placed on the ballot by a majority vote of the county board or by at least 5 percent of the total voters in the prior election. . .Many took the report to single out townships, of which there are more than 1,400 across the state, but Sanguinetti said the intent was to focus on ways to reduce the number of all units of government, specifically things like mosquito abatement districts. Sanguinetti said that in some cases townships can be valuable for the community. . .“We realize that no township in Illinois is created equally,” she said. “There are communities where townships are needed, especially in the rural areas.” The idea of locals looking after themselves has always been the purpose of the discussions about consolidation, Sanguinetti said. With the task force and the proposed legislation, the entire point has been to strengthen the ability for communities to push for consolidating, merging or even discontinuing whatever local forms of government they see as being unnecessary, said. “The purpose of our task force was to alleviate the hurdles,” Sanguinetti said, “so that local government could decide what it could do with and what it could do without.”)

Lynch (DIERSEN: If your critics/opponents asked you what goods have you produced and what services have you provided that China might want to buy, what would you say? My critics/opponents would stress that I did yard work and delivered newspapers 1962-1964; washed dishes 1964-1966; cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline in 1966; delivered mail 1966-1969; worked on an automobile assembly line and as a security guard in 1970; sold tires, automotive services, and major appliances 1970-1971; pumped gasoline 1971-1972; collected delinquent taxes 1971-1980; and audited federal agencies 1980-1997.)

May 18 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Are you a Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain in Illinois? Tomorrow, all 102 Illinois Republican Party (IRP) county party chairman and all 18 IRP State Central Committee (SCC) members are scheduled to meet in Springfield. Have you received notification of the time and location of the Illinois Republican County Chairman’s Association (IRCCA) meeting and/or IRP SCC meeting? Have you been invited to attend the meetings? Have you been asked to provide input for the agendas for the meetings, and if so, what input did you provide? Have you received a copy of the agendas for the meetings? Are you going to attend the meetings? Have you been provided with all the details of the deal struck between Bruce Rauner and Mark Shaw to placate the “conservative insurgents” in the IRP, that is, the 342,906 who voted for Ives? Do you approve or disapprove of that deal? Why? Have you asked your IRP county chairman and your IRP SCC member to vote for or against the deal? Will your IRP county party chairman email you a report of what happened at the May 19 IRCCA meeting? Will your IRP SCC member email you a report of what happened at the May 19 IRP SCC meeting?

What do you want Mark Shaw to do in his roles as the Co-Chairman of the IRP and the President of the IRCCA to organize Illinois conservatives and to “lead conservative and grassroots outreach for the” IRP? Should he:

  1. Encourage Rauner to sign a pledge to defend and advance all the planks in the IRP platform, including its traditional family, right to life, immigration, and Second Amendment planks?
  2. Identify who the conservative leaders are in each county in Illinois, meet with them on a one on one basis, meet with them at regional meetings, and/or meet with them at statewide meetings?
  3. Identify who the conservative leaders are in Illinois on a platform plank basis, including those who have taken the lead on the traditional family, right to life, immigration, and Second Amendment planks and meet with them on a one on one basis, meet with them at regional meetings, and/or meet with them at statewide meetings?
  4. Encourage Dave Diersen to form the “Republican Assembly of DuPage County” to reach out to and organize the conservatives in DuPage County?
  5. Encourage all Illinois conservatives and Republicans to read GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails?
  6. Encourage all Illinois conservative and Republican leaders to keep diersen@aol.com on their press advisory and press release lists? – Dave Diersen

ILLINOIS REVIEW
— RAUNER – YAY!
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2018/05/rauner-yay.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Yay! Yay, teachers! Yay, [Democrat Illinois Supreme Court Justice] Ann Burke! Yay, Israel! Yay, Eunice Shriver! Yay, Kennedys! Yay, [Loyola] Ramblers! CapitolFax’s Rich Miller pulled together Governor Rauner uncomfortably “yaying” for an array of interesting folks, groups and other miscellaneous cheering reasons. Missing from the collection, though, is Governor Rauner’s “Yay, Planned Parenthood! Yay, Sanctuary state! Yay, Rauner Party leadership that stopped the IL GOP Platform-hugging conservative wing’s insurgent takeover!”)
— THORNER/O’NEIL: TIME TO HOLD CHURCH LEADERS RESPONSIBLE FOR PARISHIONERS’ POLITICS (DIERSEN: I should write a book about those who are a member of a church, attend church services, and/or give money to a church who claim to be Republican, but a) who promote dependency on government and on charity, b) who promote booze, gambling, pot, and/or other vices, c) who promote LGBTQ activity, d) who promote abortion, e) who promote illegal immigration, and/or f) who promote other planks in the Democrat, Libertarian, and/or Green platforms.)

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, and RINOs a) demonize, denigrate, and condemn those who voted for Ives as being “conservative insurgents;” b) say that “Rauner is happy GOP is ‘working together’ after leadership squabble;” c) say that Rauner said “Well, I love seeing everybody coming together and working together and forming partnerships and alliances. That’s all good;” d) say that Rauner sees the recent Illinois Republican Party (IRP) leadership deal as giving Ives voters a “larger voice” in the IRP; and d) say that Rauner sees the deal as “a sign of unity for his re-election efforts.” Are you a “conservative insurgent,” that is, were you one of the 342,906 who voted for Ives? I did. Do you believe the deal will give you a greater voice in the IRP? How did you learn of the deal? If you are a Republican Precinct Committeeman/Captain, did you first learn of the deal a) from the IRP, b) from your representative on the IRP State Central Committee, c) from the officers of your IRP county party organization, d) from the officers of your IRP township/ward party organization, e) from the Democrat news media, or f) from Dave Diersen and his GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails?)

— CPS senior joins ranks of students with over $1 million in college scholarships – Maudlyne Ihejirika (DIERSEN: When you were in high school, did you apply for scholarships? I did not. When you were in high school, were you considered to be “college material?” While I attended Crete-Monee High School 1962-1966, I took college preparatory courses notwithstanding the fact that many, if not most, if not virtually everyone at the time viewed me as NOT being “college material.” Neither of my parents had attended college. My father was the first of his ancestors to earn a high school diploma. My mother never attended high school. I spent my junior and senior years and the summer in between washing dishes for the minimum wage in the basement of the S.S. Kresges in Chicago Heights. I just barely made into the upper 20% of my class, my ACT score was only 24, I was draft bait, my eyesight could not be corrected to 20/20, I had partial red/green color blindness, and I had Osgood-Schlatter disease (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood%E2%80%93Schlatter_disease).)

CHICAGO ARGUS
— Political strategist Madigan vs. amateur-hour gov Rauner – Gregory Tejeda (DIERSEN: There are extremely few Republican political consultants in Illinois, and I am one of them. While Rauner does not seek or take my advice, he ever-increasingly seems to take advice from his wife and from political consultants who are Democrat or Democrat plant, Libertarian or Libertarian plant, Green or Green plant, or RINO. Ever-increasingly, he seems to be taking their advice to not only dump, but to destroy voters who support the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, and other planks in the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform. NATIONAL REVIEW
— Stormy Daniels’s Lawyer Threatens to Sue Reporters for Digging into His Background – JACK CROWE (DIERSEN: What would reporters who disapproved of you find if they dug into your background? If reporters who disapproved of me dug into my background, they would find that a) I am no longer the TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee member, Milton Township Republican Central Committee webmaster, Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, or American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member. They would find a) that my Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $19,203 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980; b) that my Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974; and c) that my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. They would find that I have been a Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1999 and the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000. They would find that I am a Trump supporter, Protestant (baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, old (born in 1948), non-poor, gun owner, 100% German American, my ancestors have been in America since 1844, union member for almost 12 years, federal employee for almost 30 years, federal retiree for more than 20 years, childless, pet-less, American nameplate car owner, and even worse things. – Would it be correct to say that you will only vote for an IRP chairman candidate who can and will defend and advance all the planks in the Republican Party platform and the IRP platform, including their traditional family, right to life, and immigration planks?
– What is your weighted vote and which IRP chairman candidate are you going to vote for and why?

AMERICAN PROSPECT
— OPM Director Wants Federal Workers to Join Retirement Race to the Bottom Few civil servants work for the federal government to get rich, but at least they can count on a decent pension. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes who share my demographics never could/would have done what I did to earn the aforesaid. To get my Post Office job, I passed the Post Office’s employment test in 1966, earned a high school diploma in 1966, and met the job’s many other requirements. To get my IRS job, I passed the Federal Service Entrance Examination in 1970, earned a job-related bachelor’s degree in 1970, and met the job’s many other requirements. I get my GAO job, I earned a job-related master’s degree in 1976, passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, suffered a $19,203/year (26%) pay cut in today’s dollars, and met the job’s many other requirements. I overcame tremendous efforts by my Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates to waste my career and to get rid of me. Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)
