In fact, I have always hated the whole chickenhawk thing, the idea that, rather than military service being a character resume plus, its absence is a minus and some sort of character flaw. Only about 30% of people can qualify physically and otherwise for service, so right off you are consigning about 70% of folks to some sort of second-hand moral status. That’s stupid. The “cadet” part relates to him having gone to military school, which I guess the New Rules decree is something to be ashamed of now. Then the Army – not anyone else – decided he as not physically fit for military service. So, it’s kind of hard to “dodge the draft” when you weren’t drafted. Draft dodgers typically got their induction notices and split to Manitoba. That was draft dodging – and St. Jimmy Carter pardoned them all, so it’s weird that draft dodging is now bad again. — The six applicants for Illinois Republican Party (IRP) Chairman are Steve Anderson, Mike Fryzel, Scott Gryder, Steve Sauerberg, Mark Shaw, and Don Tracy. The IRP State Central Committee (SCC) will meet via Zoom at 10:00 AM this morning to determine the finalists. On Saturday, January 30, 2021, the IRP SCC will interview the finalists and select the new IRP Chairman by weighted vote. Those who want to have input on the determination should contact their representative on the IRP SCC.

Sadly, this process is a far cry from what happened in 2005. In 2005, as an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, I organized a candidate forum in Springfield the evening before the IRP SCC meeting at which the IRP SCC elected Andy McKenna. Candidate forum attendees included McKenna, Steve McGlynn, John Cox, and Jim Nalepa.

According to Jeff Berkowitz’s report, the IRP SCC meeting “attracted about 500 Republican activists, operatives, party functionaries, office holders and wannabees– including more than 150 County, Ward and Township Committeemen; State GOP Chairman candidates Andy McKenna, Jr., Steve McGlynn, Jim Oberweis, John Cox and Jim Nalepa. Andy McKenna, Jr., who is known for his father’s and perhaps his own fundraising prowess and business contacts and who ran in the Republican U. S. Senate Primary in 2004, garnering 14% and a 4th out of 7 candidates finish, won the State GOP chairmanship vote, primarily because of the backing of the Illinois Republican Party Finance Committee, i.e., in large part the Chicago Metropolitan Republican Business Interests and Donors. McGlynn, who had campaigned vigorously for the position, withdrew prior to the vote when he saw he could not get a majority of the SCC weighted vote. Nalepa, who drew acclaim and cheers from the assembled for his stirring speech, came in a very distant second to McKenna– who, in addition to the aforementioned money interests, had the New Republican Establishment behind him– Lahood-Kirk, for sure, and most likely Cross. Of course, the New Republican Establishment and money interests go together like ham and cheese.”

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The incoming Biden administration has announced a series of executive actions that open the door for instituting the quasi-Marxist critical theory across the federal government. President Joe Biden would sign documents to “launch a whole-of-government initiative to advance racial equity,” his transition team said in a Jan. 20 release. Equity means equality of outcome, a concept tied to the critical theories that slice up society into identity groups based on race, gender, sexual proclivities, and others, while positing which groups are oppressed and which are the oppressors, similarly to how Marxism labels people as oppressors or the oppressed based on class. “The president-elect will sign an Executive Order beginning the work of embedding equity across federal policymaking and rooting out systemic racism and other barriers to opportunity from federal programs and institutions,” the release said. “The Executive Order will define equity as the consistent and systematic fair, just, and impartial treatment of all individuals, including individuals who belong to underserved communities, such as Black, Latino, Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and other persons of color; LGBTQ+ persons; people with disabilities; religious minorities, persons who live in rural areas; and persons otherwise affected by persistent poverty or inequality.” While the release talks about fair treatment of all, the proposals indicate some people will be more equal than others based on whether their demographics fit the administration’s profile of “historically underserved and marginalized.” Biden will direct all federal agencies “to undertake a baseline review of the state of equity within their agency and deliver an action plan within 200 days to address unequal barriers to opportunity in agency policies and programs.” The Office of Management and Budget will be tasked with “working to more equitably allocate federal resources to empower and invest in communities of color and other underserved communities.” The administration also wants to improve access to government benefits and services, “for example, by reducing language access barriers” and having agencies “engage with communities who have been historically underrepresented, underserved, and harmed by federal policies.” The administration wants to look into new ways to check whether its policies “advance equity.” Biden will also reverse the September executive order of then-President Donald Trump that banned federal agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and grantees from instructing their employees to follow the tenets of the critical theories. Trump’s order cited the work of Christopher Rufo, director of the Discovery Institute’s Center on Wealth and Poverty, who has been waging a “one-man war” against critical race theory in American government. Rufo has repeatedly warned of the intrusion of the ideology into civil society after obtaining documents showing the theory being pushed in various institutions. In a Jan. 20 release, Rufo called the theory a “grave threat to the American way of life” that “traffics in the pernicious concepts of race essentialism, race stereotyping, and race-based segregation—all under a false pursuit of ‘social justice.’” The theories produced an industry of consultants and speakers who get hired by corporations and government agencies to train their employees on themes such as “implicit bias” and “white privilege.” Trump’s order said the concepts of the theory are “divisive” and lead to “race and sex stereotyping and scapegoating.” Biden’s release said such trainings are “important and needed.” Rufo said the trainings “advance the ideology through cult-like indoctrination, intimidation, and harassment.” He announced in his January release a coalition of law firms and legal foundations called “Stop Critical Race Theory,” saying it has already filled three lawsuits with the goal of having the Supreme Court rule that programs based on the theory violate the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Constitution. “When we are victorious in the courts, it will have an immediate ripple effect through every school, government agency, and private employer in the nation. It’s not enough just to arrest and prosecute actual lawbreakers who smashed their way into to the Capitol. No, anyone who supported the president, voted for him or worked for his administration, now has to be hunted down and purged. They’re losing their jobs, having their insurance canceled, their book contracts and recording deals torn up. They are being banned from flying or banking or speaking on social media. A petition at Harvard University even demands Trump staffers have their degrees revoked. A feverish mood is afoot, evoking the spirit of McCarthyism and the Salem witch trials, in which irrationality and hysteria point fingers at the innocent. But it is not just an emotional overreaction to the frightening events of Jan. 6. It is a deliberate tactic designed to intimidate conservatives and silence their protests when the Biden administration radically remakes the country, as it has promised to do from Day One. Democrats and their allies in corporate America are preemptively taking out the opposition because they know that their prescriptions don’t work and are opposed by the majority of Americans. H.R.1. is what you call pouring fuel on a fire. Pelosi also has added statehood for Washington, DC, to her progressive wish list as a “sacred” right, and who will stop her? The only levers we have left to oppose this authoritarian power grab is protest and free speech. Hence the crackdown on free speech by a partisan Big Tech oligopoly that wields the ever-present threat of arbitrary censorship over conservatives in the public square. Just as the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis was the pretext to reanimate racial division in an election year, so, too, is the Capitol riot a golden opportunity for the left to criminalize dissent. “There are millions of Americans, almost all white, almost all Republicans, who somehow need to be deprogrammed,” Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson told MSNBC last week in the wake of the Capitol riot. Eric Swalwell compared Trump to Osama bin Laden. Corporate America is heeding the message. Loews over the weekend caved into Twitter activists and canceled Republican Sen.
