(FROM THE ARTICLE: On Friday, Feb. 6, over 22,500 students from 85 schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) walked out of class an organized protest. This was not a walkout in protest of the killing of innocent civilians in Iran. It wasn’t about the horrors that Hamas has perpetrated. Students were not leaving their schools as a way of calling for more learning tools at their schools, or better facilities. It was to protest ICE doing its job of arresting criminal illegal aliens. And LAUSD employees, teachers, and administrators tacitly (and in many cases overtly) supported and promoted it. Let’s be clear. This was not a protest against an injustice, but a supported walkout of middle and high school students protesting federal agents doing their job. It wasn’t based on a violation of civil rights or abuses of power. These teenagers were encouraged to walk out of their education in order to complain about duly appointed officers enforcing federal law. There’s certainly an argument to be made about protecting the children of illegal aliens, and the compassionate side of me says that all children should be educated in the best ways possible. The pragmatic side of me argues that it should not be the responsibility of American taxpayers to pay for the education of these children, and especially the financial support of their families. But while that inner dialogue may justify adults protesting immigration policies, it really doesn’t enter into this discussion of a student walkout. Worse still is the support that this kind of behavior has received from the LAUSD, which has even set up the website of WeAreOne to help illegal aliens evade law enforcement. Here, the LAUSD has created a campaign entitled “We Have Rights,” and states its mission as “We Have Rights is an empowerment campaign to prepare for and safely defend our rights during encounters with Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).” On this website, the LAUSD provides videos (produced at taxpayers’ expense) on how to avoid ICE in Arabic, French, Haitian-Creole, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu (the language of the Islamic regime of Pakistan). Illegal aliens from countries that sponsor terrorism (Iran, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen, et al) as well as nations that are clearly not allies, such as Russia and China, can go to the LAUSD website to learn how to avoid ICE. How does this fit into the LAUSD mission statement of “realizing excellence for all students by providing the unique, rigorous, and culturally relevant education that each and every student deserves”? In what way does scheduling a student walkout, let alone teaching families from terrorist-supporting nations, integrate with educating our children? Maybe the logic of LAUSD administrators is that their school district is so successful at educating children that they can spend their time, money, and resources on walkouts. But the reality is the opposite. If there’s any question about the quality, or lack thereof, of education at LAUSD, they are proud that in 2024/2025, only 43.1% of students demonstrated proficiency in math and 32.8% in reading, as this was slightly better than last year. Fewer than half the students in this district, the second-largest school district in the nation, know basic math, and fewer than a third are proficient in reading. This is despite the fact that LAUSD teachers are paid nearly 40% more than the national average. I grew up in the LAUSD public school system, when it was one of the top educational districts in the country, but that was a long time ago, when the governor of the state was Ronald Reagan (a Republican), and the mayors of Los Angeles were Sam Yorty and then Tom Bradley (both conservative Democrats). Then, it was a district dedicated to teaching children in a classic educational way, as opposed to indoctrinating children in neo-Marxism and ignoring educational standards. Most people do not have their children in a school system like LAUSD, but more and more cities, especially larger Democratic metropolitan cities, are following in the footsteps of LAUSD. Which is why, as we approach the upcoming elections this year, it is so important for people to recognize the importance of school boards. The left has been very successful over the last thirty years in taking over school boards around the country, and changing the educational agenda to focus more on far-left preoccupations and values such as drag queens, gender dysphoria, immigration, socialism, etc. They have been indoctrinating our children, the next generation of voters, and this indoctrination must stop… for the sake of our children, and of this country. I pray that as we approach elections this year that sensible parents will run for and take back seats on school boards. That school districts will again focus on educating our children in the subjects that they will need to succeed in life. That they will learn the skills and information that will allow them to be creators of brilliant inventions, informed voters, and successful contributors to society. Otherwise, God forbid, school districts around the country will be progressively more forced to deal with children walking out of school to protest the legal actions at federal officers.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A West Chicago District 33 teacher whose pro-immigration agent comment on social media was criticized by many people has resigned. On Thursday, the school board accepted the resignation and a separation agreement of the Gary Elementary School teacher. “This situation was never about politics. It has been about our responsibility to keep schools operating normally and to minimize disruption to learning,” board President Rita Balgeman said after the vote. The board did not discuss the terms of the settlement. As part of the separation agreement, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, the teacher will be paid his salary and health benefits through the end of the school year. It also states that the district will give a neutral reference about him to future employers. According to West Chicago Mayor Dan Bovey, the teacher commented, “go ICE!” in a social media post. Bovey, whose wife works at the school, said he spoke with the man when the controversy erupted. After the district learned of the comment Jan. 22, the teacher initially resigned that day but retracted it later that day. The district put him on leave while it investigated the matter. More than 81% of the district’s students are of Hispanic descent, according to its 2025 state school report card. Bovey said West Chicago schoolchildren have been traumatized because their parents were taken by immigration enforcement agents, and that the comment was hurtful and offensive. After the board voted, members of the public spoke about the matter. “We want our students to feel respected and valued, which is why we request that the seriousness of the comment be recognized,” one mother of a student said, speaking in Spanish. But another woman, Corinne Ingrum, urged the community to “pick your battles more wisely,” saying the action against the teacher will not resolve the community’s concerns with immigration agents’ actions. “You could have chosen to rally around one of your own beloved teachers, but instead you chose to bring more unwanted ICE attention to West Chicago,” Ingrum said. She suggested that people bring their concerns to elected officials. They have been even more furious that I have gotten a CSRS pension ($68,640/year in today’s dollars) since I was 49 in 1997. They have been even more furious that the federal government has paid 72% of my healthcare insurance premiums since 1966 and 72% of my wife’s healthcare insurance premiums since 1978. In my defense, I would not have become a postal employee if my high school friend had not asked me to join him in taking the postal employment examination. I would not have become an IRS employee when I was 22 years old in 1971 if my Firestone Store boss had not fired me because I had accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile, a job offer that Oldsmobile withdrew saying it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. I paid 7% of my federal salary into the CSRS. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire when I was 49 years old in 1997. If I was still working, I would still be paying into the CSRS instead of getting a CSRS pension.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: As the midterm election year gets underway, voters are already drawing clear lines between the Democratic and Republican parties on the issues. A new Fox News survey, released Thursday, finds the Republican Party is seen as better able to handle border security (by 15 points), national security (+12), and immigration (+5). The Democratic Party is favored on transgender issues (by 22 points), healthcare (+21), vaccines (+16), helping the middle class (+14), and affordability (+14). And on three issues where Republicans have recently held the edge, now neither party has shown a clear preference: taxes (+1D), foreign policy (even), and the federal budget deficit (+2R). The survey asks voters what President Donald Trump’s top priorities should be, and the economy dominates. Nearly 4 in 10 cite either the economy in general (19%) or prices (17%). The view that the Democrats can better handle affordability gives them an early edge in the generic Congressional vote preference, where voters are asked who they will support in the U.S. House race in their district this November. While the question is largely hypothetical this far out, it gives us a baseline for the coming election, according to Republican pollster Daron Shaw. “Political science analyses demonstrate that aggregate responses to this question begin to more accurately predict the actual House vote by around mid-summer,” Shaw added. “But we ask it at this point simply to get a sense of how short-term forces might play out in the general election.” The survey shows if the election were today, 52% of voters would back the Democratic candidate in their House district and 46% the Republican. That’s a 6-point edge, which is right at the poll’s margin of sampling error. The current 52% Democratic support is the highest recorded for either party; the previous high was 50% for the Democrats in October 2017. Both parties are maintaining most of their coalitions. Democrats garner support from Black voters (+48 points), voters under age 30 (+28), and college graduates (+17), while Republicans receive backing from White evangelical Christians (+41), rural voters (+21), and White voters without a degree (+10). While the parties maintain high levels of support among most of their constituencies, Republicans are twice as likely as Democrats to defect across the aisle: 8% of self-identified Republicans currently say they would back the Democratic candidate, compared to 4% of self-identified Democrats who say they would go for the Republican today. Overall, three-quarters of voters say they are extremely (56%) or very (20%) motivated to vote in the November elections, and those voters are slightly more committed to the Democratic candidate than the Republican. That’s at least partly due to more Democrats (82%) than Republicans (76%) or independents (61%) saying they feel inclined to vote this year. Overall, motivation is on par with the 2022 midterm cycle, when 54% of voters said they were extremely motivated to vote. Twenty-eight percent of voters approve of the job Congress is doing, a 2-point increase since last January and the highest approval in nearly three years. However, disapproval is also up — from 67% last year to 71% today. In the generic ballot, those who disapprove of Congress are twice as likely to support the Democratic candidate (65%) as the Republican (33%). The small group of those who approve largely favor the Republican over the Democrat (79% to 21%). As Congress considers banning stock trading among members, the new survey finds 75% of voters favor the proposal. That’s unchanged from where things stood in September and higher than the 70% who favored the measure in 2022.
